The past few weeks have been about exploring farms, visiting local markets, and whipping up nutritious recipes. I touched on my health goals in a previous blog post, and it’s been exciting to experiment with recipes that align with those goals. I’ve also been more mindful of shopping locally and creating wholesome meals for my family. I love involving my son in farmer’s market outings and cooking in the kitchen, hoping he’ll appreciate the value of supporting local farmers and making healthy choices as he grows.
This past Sunday, we whipped up the most delicious peach crumble dessert after grabbing a big crate of fresh peaches at the farmer’s market. I wanted to share this recipe before the peach season ends so you can enjoy it, too. It’s kid-friendly—my son couldn’t get enough and asked for more! I bet you already have all the ingredients in your pantry for this.
Ingredient Swaps for Peach Crumble Recipe

Peaches: You can substitute peaches for almost any fruit you like! Try apples, blueberries, pears, blackberries, strawberries, or raspberries for a new twist.
Coconut Oil: Use butter or vegan butter as an alternative to coconut oil
Cinnamon: Don’t have cinnamon? Try using apple pie spice or add a pinch of nutmeg to give your crumble a unique flavor.

Delicious and Healthy Peach Crumble Recipe with Hidden Health Benefits
Looking for a dessert that’s both delicious and good for you? This peach crumble recipe satisfies your sweet tooth and has hidden health benefits that make you feel great about indulging!
Peaches: The star of this crumble, peaches are loaded with vitamins A and C, fiber, and antioxidants. These nutrients help boost your immune system, support healthy skin, and aid in digestion, making peaches a fantastic choice for a nutritious dessert.
Oats: Oats are a great source of whole grains and provide additional fiber. They help regulate blood sugar levels and support heart health, making them a wholesome addition to your crumble.
Local Honey: Using local honey adds natural sweetness, supports local beekeepers, and reduces your carbon footprint. Honey also has antioxidants and can help soothe your throat. Local honey has been proven to help with local allergy symptoms.
Sea Salt: A pinch of sea salt enhances the flavors of the crumble and provides essential minerals often stripped away in processed salt.
Cinnamon: This spice adds a warm, comforting flavor, has anti-inflammatory properties, and can help regulate blood sugar levels.

Many people do not know this, even those living in my state, but South Carolina and California produce more peaches than Georgia! South Carolina is the second-largest peach producer in the United States, right after California. South Carolina’s warm climate and fertile soil make it ideal for growing sweet and juicy peaches. This is why we have some of the best peaches at our markets here. I have been making peach smoothies, desserts, salads, and crumbles all summer! Luckily, my toddler loves them! I may need to invest in a peach tree soon.
Why You Should Shop Local for Produce
Fresher and Tastier: Local produce is picked at peak ripeness, so it’s fresher and tastes better than stuff that travels far.
Supports Local Economy: Buying from local farmers keeps money in your community and helps local businesses thrive.
Eco-Friendly: Local produce doesn’t travel as far, which means a smaller environmental footprint.
Seasonal Eating: Shopping locally means you’re eating fruits and veggies that are in season, which are usually more nutritious and flavorful.
More Nutritious: Fresher produce has more nutrients than items that sit around during long transports and storage.
Less Waste: Local produce often comes with less packaging and fewer preservatives, leading to less waste.
Know Your Food: Buying local means you can learn more about where your food comes from and even get to know the farmers who grow it.
Supports Variety: Local farms tend to grow a bigger range of crops, helping to preserve different and unique varieties.
Peaches are a top favorite for me! I’ve loved them since I was a kid. I even had my mom buy Gerber peach baby food in elementary school because I adored the taste and texture. Living in a peach state feels like a real treat!
How to Know When Peaches Are Ready to Eat
Check the Color: Look for a deep, golden yellow color. A ripe peach will have a warm, rich hue.
Feel the Texture: Gently squeeze the peach. It should give slightly but not be too soft or mushy.
Smell the Aroma: A ripe peach will have a sweet, fragrant aroma. If it smells good, it’s likely ready to eat.
Look for Wrinkles: Check around the stem for slight wrinkles. This can indicate that the peach is juicy and ripe.
Avoid Green Peaches: If the peach is green, it’s not ripe yet. Let it sit at room temperature for a few days to ripen.

Nice recipe
Have one cooking as we speak..,love the different options for sugars. I did not have enough peaches so I threw in some blueberries and halved the recipe. This recipe is great for using fruits up. I also love you used oatmeal and I will definitely throw in some nuts next time. Thanks for sharing!
I ended up using a 9×13 baking dish. It just went in the oven, but I hope it will be delicious.
