Delicious & Easy Cheesy Kielbasa Pasta Bake
Go-To Dinner: Cheesy Kielbasa Pasta Bake | The Perfect Comfort Meal
The go-to pasta for any occasion—perfect for meal trains, hosting guests, or a no-fuss weeknight dinner.

What to make for friends:
This Cheesy Kielbasa Pasta Bake is truly one of my most-made recipes—and for good reason. It’s loaded with protein-packed beef kielbasa, sautéed peppers and onions, and tossed in the most amazing, flavorful pasta sauce. It’s comforting, hearty, and just feels like a big warm hug in a casserole dish. I love making this for friends who just had a baby, neighbors who could use a pick-me-up, or when we’re hosting guests and need something easy but impressive. You can easily make it gluten-free by swapping the pasta, and it still turns out just as delicious. It’s one of those dishes that feels special but takes barely any effort—my kind of weeknight win. My mom used to make this meal almost weekly when we were kids.

Tip: If you’re making this for neighbors, a crowd, or bringing it to a potluck, I highly recommend doubling the recipe! It feeds about 4–6 as written, but it’s super easy to scale up—and trust me, leftovers are never a bad thing with this one.
Ingredients You’ll Need for this Pasta Dish:
- Rigatoni Pasta
The perfect shape to hold onto all that cheesy, saucy goodness. Feel free to swap for gluten-free pasta if needed! - Marinara Pasta Sauce (Trader Joe’s pasta sauce is my favorite in a jar!)
A rich, flavorful red sauce is classic—but this recipe also works beautifully with a creamy white pasta sauce if you’re feeling a little indulgent. - Beef Kielbasa
Adds the perfect smoky, savory flavor and is packed with protein to make this dish extra hearty. - Sweet Yellow Onion
Sautéed until golden for a hint of sweetness and depth. - Bell Peppers
Use a mix of red, yellow, or orange for color and a mild, sweet crunch. - Italian Cheese Blend
For that perfectly melty, gooey topping. You can also use mozzarella or provolone. - Parmesan Cheese & Pesto
Sprinkled and swirled in for a flavorful finish that really sets this bake apart.

How to Make Cheesy Kielbasa Pasta Bake
Cook the pasta:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook rigatoni (or your favorite pasta—gluten-free works great too!) until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Sauté the kielbasa and veggies:
In a large skillet over medium heat (I like to use my Dutch oven), cook the sliced beef kielbasa until browned. Remove it from the pan and set aside. Add chopped yellow onion and green bell peppers to the skillet and sauté in the leftover oils until soft and fragrant, about 5–7 minutes.
Mix in the sauce and pesto:
Stir in your favorite marinara sauce along with a few spoonfuls of pesto. Let everything simmer together for a few minutes to let the flavors meld.
Combine with pasta:
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss until everything is well coated in the pesto-marinara mixture. Stir in a generous handful of Parmesan cheese for an extra layer of flavor.
Assemble and top:
Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish—or if you’re using a Dutch oven, you can leave it right in there. Spoon a little extra pesto over the top, then sprinkle with Italian cheese blend and more Parmesan.
Bake:
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Serve:
Let it cool slightly before serving. This dish is perfect for easy dinners, meal trains, potlucks, or just a cozy night at home when you’re craving something hearty, cheesy, and crowd-pleasing.

Pair this easy pasta meal with extra goodness:
Every time I make this meal, I pair it with a salad and homemade chocolate chip cookies.
Hosting dinner or delivering food to friends?
If you’re making this pasta bake for guests, neighbors, or a meal train, place it in a disposable tin. That way, they can simply pop it in the oven and toss the container when they’re done—no dishes to wash or pans to return. It’s a small touch that makes things so much easier, especially for new parents or anyone going through a busy season.

I hope you love this recipe as much as we do. It’s one of those comforting dishes that has made its way into so many meaningful moments—helping friends through their first few days postpartum, nourishing loved ones during illness, and bringing people together around our table. It’s simple, satisfying, and always made with love.

I make a recipe like this at least once a month! The only thing I do different is I use a red or orange pepper just because I’m not a fan of green, I feel like they overpower the taste of anything they’re in. I love a pink sauce.. there is a place in Newport Beach called Mamma D’s that has the best pink sauce! I also love a penne or angel hair noodle. Extra cheese always please!!
Oh this looks delicious!! And so simple, my kinda meal! Thank you, will definitely try. 😉
Hope you love it!!
Taralynn, this easy recipe was absolutely delicious! I made this last week and had plenty to share with a couple of my husband’s coworkers. It was a hit! I will definitely make this one again. 🙂
