The great thing about visiting my brother is that he always makes the best breakfasts. I have posted a couple of his recipes: his tuna salad pocket, his red potato breakfast hash, honey kale salad, and his vegetarian sweet potato breakfast hash. If he had his own cooking show, they’d call him “The Breakfast Man.”
My brother and I are a lot alike; we are both early birds. He’s an early bird because of the military and I’m and early bird because I genuinely love the mornings. I get mad at myself if I sleep past 8:30, unless I went to bed incredibly late the night before. After going on our coffee run, he whipped up a delicious egg white omelet with spinach, onion, bell pepper, and vegetarian sausage with a hash brown on the side. It was all very good!
After breakfast, Karlee and I got ready and walked down to King Street to shop around and grab coffee. She needed shorts and I had my eyes set on a couple of rompers. Someone recommended going to Misha’s coffee house and so when we passed it we knew we had to stop.
As you’re walking down King Street, you can see it right on the corner. It’s a cute little building and even cuter inside!
The menu was made out of those little play magnets. It was a little trippy since I forgot my glasses, but such a clever and cute idea.
It was so hot out yesterday so iced coffee was a must. I followed it up with a giant bottle of water. I’ll most likely get a latte next time we go with T.C., he’s been wanting to try it out too.
We walked back around noon. I could walk around Old Town Alexandria all day. It’s just so pretty and quaint. It reminds me of Charleston.
My new rings 🙂
We all hopped in the car and drove down to National Harbor.
This was one of the first things I ran into, right next to a little kid’s shop, and it was hilariously disturbing. This is where Ariel’s dad must have retired too…
The National Harbor was so cool and gorgeous. At night, they light up the ferris wheel blue.
You can do all kinds of activities there, boat riding, paddle boarding, paddle boats, kayaking, and more.
The patriotic chairs overlooking the ferris wheel were my favorite.
There is so much to do and see at the National Harbor. So many restaurants, shops, and places for kids.
You can even go on dinner cruises. People go there to watch sporting events.
Before T.C. moved to D.C., he visited about a year ago for a conference. He went to this place called Rosa Mexicano. He said they make guacamole right in front of you and it is so delicious and fresh. We were all hungry by that time because it was already 3 and so we decided to get a bite to eat.
Ordering the guacamole is definitely a must when you’re at Rosa Mexicano. Just don’t forget to ask for no cilantro if you have the gene that makes it taste like soap…because I made that mistake and he added literally 1/3 cup of it in there.
They serve the guacamole in a giant bowl and the restaurant has one of the best salsa’s I’ve ever had! It’s spicy, sweet, and savory all at the same time.
Even though the guacamole was loaded with cilantro, I still thought it tasted pretty good. I liked how chunky the avocados were.
We all decided to split a meal after watching other people’s portions at the restaurant. They bring you so much food that three people could eat off the same plate. And to be honest, when you go to restaurants like that, I think it’s a lot smart to share meals. Not only do you save money, but you’re eating in healthy moderation.
T.C. ordered the camarones al pastor (shrimp tacos) It had grilled mexican white shrimp with purple cabbage escabeche, pineapple mint salsa and chipotle creme. It comes with house-made corn tortillas and elotes grilled mexican street corn. It also came with beans, and rice.
That was enough food for three! The corn was by far the best part of the meal. It was sweet, tangy, and seasoned perfectly. I could eat that all day!
The shrimp taco had way too much cilantro, pickled cabbage, and I was never a fan of the corn tortillas and so I ended up passing it back to my brother. I’m not a fan of those flavors, but I know a lot of people are! I was way too full anyways. I did try the shrimp though and it was great!
After our late lunch/dinner we walked around the National Harbor more and stopped at their farmers market.
I’m excited to go back there sometime at night! We ended up popping some popcorn around eight, throwing in a movie and passing out around ten! We are going to Baltimore today! 😀

When are you going to visit DC proper? There’s so much to see in the city and the weather is gorgeous right now.

I love both places! I’ve been to the mexican restaurant and the guac is amazing! They make fish tacos which are really good too. I used to live in NOVA, and now live in southern Maryland, and you definitely picked some great places! If you have time, go to the MD side and walk the toe path for the C&O canal by the falls. Its one of my favorite places and go at least every other week for a run and hike.
