Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Balls | Vegan & Gluten-Free

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Balls | Vegan & Gluten-Free

I have been on a protein ball kick for years now! They are so easy to make—just mix all the ingredients in a bowl and form them into balls. They can be stored in the fridge, freezer, or even on the counter. They’re perfect for traveling, on-the-go breakfasts, and snacks, and I’m so lucky that my toddler loves them! In our house, we call them “cookie balls.”

Sometimes, I like to add in new healthy ingredients, but I always keep this recipe as the base. If I know I’ll have guests who don’t like coconut, I just leave that part out.

Protein balls are the best way to pack in protein, healthy carbs and fats, and fiber—all while satisfying hunger pangs when you’re in a hurry.

I used to sell these at markets every Saturday, and people always bought them for the week. How to Make Protein Balls

  1. Mix the ingredients – In a large bowl, combine quick oats, peanut butter, coconut (if using), protein powder, sea salt, cinnamon, maple syrup, and 3 tablespoons of almond milk. Use a fork or electric mixer to mix until well combined.

  2. Adjust consistency – The mixture should have a cookie dough-like texture. If it’s too dry, add almond milk one tablespoon at a time. If it’s too sticky, mix in a little more oats.

  3. Add chocolate chips – Fold in the chocolate chips (or your preferred mix-ins).

  4. Roll into balls – Scoop about a tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball using your hands.

  5. Store – Keep them in an airtight container in the fridge, freezer, or on the countertop.

  1. Hi Tara- do you know how much protein is in each ball?

    1. I didn’t calculate the macros on these, but it definitely depends on which brand of protein and nut butter you’re using. You can always use my fitness pal free recipe calorie calculator to get your protein macros.

  2. Hi Taralynn,
Do you recommend a certain kind of plant based protein powder? I’ve never purchased any and could use the suggestions. Thanks!
