I can’t believe it’s Friday already. I am so excited for this weekend because I’ll be heading down to Savannah. Going to Savannah has been a dream of mine for a long time and I cannot wait to experience it all. I am also excited to bring the camera along and take some beautiful shots to share with all of you. Please share your suggestions on what to see, where to eat or what to do in Savannah! I’d love some ideas.
One of my favorite parts of Friday is recapping the week and looking over all of the fun and not-so-fun activities I did. I just made a bowl of oatmeal to go with my second cup of coffee and now I’m ready to recap!
I decided to break out the bike yesterday afternoon. I don’t know what came across me, but I rode 42 miles. My goal was 50, but I couldn’t go anymore. My butt was hurting and I was running out of fuel. I hope to be able to finish 50-60 miles by the end of the summer. I think it would be easier if someone else was biking with me. Sometimes I need a little push!
It was a very relaxing ride. It took me a little over 3 1/2 hours. At one point my bike clocked in at 26.5 mph going downhill. I felt like a little kid. Even though my bike is an E-Bike, I kept it off. I wanted to really work for those miles.
Bike: Raleigh, 2016 Misceo iE from Revolution Cycles in Washington D.C.!
I took a relaxing break to stretch and rehydrate down at the Riverwalk.
I had some fresh pineapple after my ride with about 33 ounces of water.
I’m not a napper at all, but after getting out of the shower, I passed out for an hour and a half. I don’t even remember falling asleep. That bike ride mixed with the sun really knocked me out.
For dinner I had black bean veggie burgers (yes I’m still obsessed) and a salad.
I cuddled up into bed early with Mr. Grumples with a bowl of popcorn mixed with CVS’s unsalted pistachios & almonds blend. We watched Empire and Nashville. I can’t believe they were both left with cliffhangers…grrrr!
I better take this recap post back to last Friday!
Last Friday was a little crazy for me. It was one of those days where nothing managed to go right. It was just one thing after another. I was a chicken running around with my head chopped off in the pouring rain. As soon as I got home, I went for a run, took a shower and meditated myself back to a good place. I decided to take my day back into my control and turn it around for the good.
Friday night was just what I needed. It was storming pretty hard, which was a perfect excuse to stay inside and cook a delicious dinner. I blasted some good music and started cooking. I was in the mood for seafood, so I decided to make baked salmon, shrimp, sweet green beans and roasted sweet potatoes.
I used to make salmon twice a week and I really need to start doing that again. I forgot how amazing it is. This salmon was really good and simple to make.
I sautéed garlic cloves and chopped green onion in olive oil, soy sauce, honey, black pepper and dill weed. Once the garlic cloves and green onions were candied, I added them to the top of the salmon with a couple tablespoons of the cooked and infused olive oil (from the same pan.) I squeezed the juice from 1/4 small lime over the salmon with a couple tablespoons of low sodium soy sauce and a honey drizzle. I seasoned with black pepper, onion powder and italian seasoning. I also added some spinach, lime slices and tomatoes to the pan.
Bake 17-22 minutes at 350 degrees, depending on the size of your salmon!
The honey flax green beans are my favorite!
Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp Olive Oil (from the previous pan)
- 4 Cups Snapped Green Beans
- 1 Tbsp Flax Seeds (or sesame)
- 1 -2 Tablespoon Honey
- 1 Tbsp Low Sodium Soy Sauce
*I also added some candied garlic cloves & green onions.
-Steam or boil the green beans to soften them. If they are fresh green beans, remove the stems.
-Add the softened green beans to a stir fry pan or frying pan. Cook them on high with the olive oil until they turn slightly brown. Add in the honey, soy sauce and flaxseeds. Turn the heat off and stir!
I love shrimp so much! I think they are so easy to make and you can eat them cold or hot!
As Bubba would say, “Shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. There’s shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That, that’s about it.”
I cooked this shrimp in olive oil, garlic powder, chopped green onion, black pepper, onion powder and sweet chili sauce. Cook on high until fully cooked. Bubba is going to have to add that one to the list.
The sweet potatoes were super easy to make as well. I softened the potatoes in the microwave, removed the skin and diced them up. They were tossed in olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, onion powder, black pepper, sea salt, dill weed and 2 teaspoons brown sugar. The brown sugar tip is something I learned from watching “The Barefoot Contessa.” The small amount brown sugar adds a super crispy texture! I roasted them for 45-55 minutes at 350 degrees. I would make the sweet potatoes before the salmon, green beans and shrimp because they take the longest to bake.
The salmon came out to perfection! Yo always want to keep an eye on salmon because it cooks so fast and overcooked salmon is never good!
This was just my first serving. I definitely had more!
Saturday mornings have been dedicated to House of Cards and coffee lately. I don’t know what I’m going to do when I’m done with this season. I do not like waiting!
The cooking mood ran over into Saturday morning. I cooked up a yummy breakfast! My scramble had peppers, onions, tomatoes, spinach and two eggs. I also had bacon, apple slices and a slice of whole grain bread. I have an omelet recipe below that demonstrates how I cooked up the vegetables before adding them to the eggs. I always use Applegate Bacon and bake it in the oven to make it extra crispy.
I’ve been addicted to this Probiotic Melt spread lately! It is 100000x better than butter! It melts just like butter and has a better flavor. It’s made from good fats from coconut oil, flaxseed oil and sunflower seed oil. It’s organic, non-gmo, kosher, vegan, dairy free, free of trans fats, soy free and gluten free. I can’t wait to try all the other flavors. The flavor is very buttery and I doubt people would even be able to tell the difference. I’m excited to bake with this!
I don’t want to leave you guys out of the loop. You guys have been so loyal to me as readers and it wouldn’t be fare to post “vague” photos that leave you wondering…so YES. I have been hanging out with someone and I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy. I’m going to leave it at that for right now.
We went to the gym on Saturday morning and he set up a circuit workout followed by some sled pushing. I finally have the feeling back in my body. I was so sore for days!
It was supposed to rain all day Saturday and it turned out to be a beautiful day in Charlotte. It’s funny how large Charlotte is, yet so small. While we were walking back from the gym, we ran into Becca. The chances of that happening…
The rain made it’s way back that evening, which was a great excuse to have wine and dinner uptown.
We had dinner and drinks at 204 North, a farm-to-table restaurant that just opened uptown. I loved the rustic feel of the restaurant. I ordered a fresh salad that had spinach, candied pecans, grapes, feta, and a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Very tasty!
It was a very lovely Saturday night!
I had a walking date with Grumples on Sunday morning. It was his turn to get some sunshine. I had a slice of wholegrain bread with bacon and Organic Melt before the walk. This was such a delicious combo!
After our walk, I cleaned off and headed to grab coffee with Becca at Amelies French Bakery.
This is our favorite Sunday spot and we hadn’t been in such a long time!
We like to sit upstairs in the corner so we can look out the window at the downtown area.
I ordered my favorite combo, the dark roast coffee and a fruit and yogurt parfait.
The berries were fresh, the granola was crunchy and the yogurt was so thick and creamy! I have a yogurt maker but still haven’t used it yet! I should probably get to that!
After breakfast, we took a relaxing walk downtown.

After coffee and running a few errands, I headed back to my place to make broccoli salad and chocolate chip cookies for a bbq at Rachels. The recipes are below!
I ended up running out of vanilla so thank goodness for CVS being around the corner!
The BBQ was so fun and the perfect ending to a great weekend.
I had my go-to weekday breakfast Monday morning! Coffee, Almond Milk & Chocolate Cheerios!
After my workout, I had some weird cravings. My snack consisted of dried fruit, sunflower seeds, carrots, hummus and guacamole.
Grumples helped me on the new blogpost!
This is who I’m really voting for ^
I decided to make a vegetable omelet for dinner on Monday night. I sautéed spinach, onion, bell peppers and tomatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and italian seasoning.
I poured two large eggs with four egg whites (2 yokes, 6 egg whites) with the sautéed vegetables.
I broke apart one slice of pepperjack for the center.
I cooked each side for about 4 minutes on high. The olive oil crisps up the sides and it makes the egg so good! I’m obsessed with the texture.
I had this giant omelet with a slice of whole grain toast and organic melt buttery spread.
After dinner, Becca met up with me to go for a four mile walk with Mr. Grumples!
Grumples and I watched the Bachelorette together afterwards. I think it’s going to be such a good season! The guys are much better looking this year. I’m all about Luke, the Marine, and Jordan!
I had some dark chocolate skinny pop popcorn to go with the show!
Later Tuesday afternoon, I took a trip to the Peach Stand to grab some strawberries. I found these cantaloupe filled strawberries instead and had to buy!
This was probably one of the best tasting cantaloupes I have ever had.
We had family friends in town on Tuesday night, so Grumples and I headed out to my parents house for dinner.
I took a trip to the store with my mom and we grabbed some foods to make a spread.
My favorite part of the spread was the salad…imagine that!
This Caesar had lettuce, onion, avocado, croutons, parmesan crisp and Panera’s Caesars dressing.
The spread also had cherries, crackers, pepperjack cheese, cajun crab dip, carrots, hummus and pizza.
I added some chicken to my dinner!
My mom wanted a photo early morning, so I hopped up out of bed, threw on some clothes, and took a photo before they left. Sorry for my WAKE UP face. This was pre-coffee.
#hairflip
Later that afternoon, I headed to the trails to run eight miles. I didn’t make it eight and had to quit at 7.4 but I was still very proud of myself! It was so hot out and I don’t think I had enough water to keep going.
I always love sharing my post run tomato face with the bulging forehead vein.
Since I was already sweaty and gross from my run, I put on my swim suit and headed to the pool to cool off and lay out for a bit. I’ve been using the CVS SPORT sunscreen while running and for all my outdoor activities. It’s perfect because it doesn’t bleed into the eyes or mouth.
I made a yummy salad for dinner while my chicken was baking. It had kale from the Peach Stand, spinach, goat cheese crumbles, cranberry, carrots, hummus, avocado, sunflower sees and a slice of wholegrain bread.
When he gives me this face, I know he wants to go out for a walk.
I took him to a park in Fort Mill and we took a three mile evening stroll.
The views were gorgeous on our way home. No one was around, so I pulled over to snap some photos.
I love that I live five minutes from the city and three minutes from the country.
Grumples loves car rides. He sticks his head out of the window and eats the air. He always barks at the horses and cows.
My favorite house of all time.
I had such a wonderful week and I know I’ll have an even better weekend! I can’t wait to share it with you!

Your posts with your meals always make me want to cook up a nice healthy meal! I love it!
For this weekend we are going four-wheeling, (I get out of work in less than an hour and a half!!). We camp, and four-wheel for about 3 days, and it’s always a good time! Then Monday we are going to a friends house for a cookout and some corn hole.
My last workout was a 4 mile run on Wednesday. Though, I have been helping a co-worker begin to run, and we’ve been going on our lunch break to a local trail and we’ve been building up to a mile (running about 0.25 miles at a time).
Finally, I would probably have to say my favorite part of the week so far is that I have a half day at work today. Also, today is my LAST day as a temp at my job and come Tuesday I will officially be a full-time permanent employee with my company! Also, I got my 21 Day Fix order in the mail yesterday from Beachbody! That excites me because I think it will be great to teach me even BETTER portion control, and to just basically eat clean for 3 whole weeks, and to get my butt kicked by some killer 30 minute workouts that came with it. On top of that I am still training to run a half marathon this year. Just accomplished my furthest run this past weekend with 8 miles. Next long-distance run is going to be 9.
Have a great weekend and a great Holiday!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you Hillary!
Four-wheeling sounds like so much fun. I haven’t done it since living in Iowa. It sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead of you!
That is awesome of you to support a coworker! I love that you take your lunch break to be active!
Congrats on becoming a full-time permanent employee! That is great:) I loved reading your comment because everything was so positive and exciting! Nice job on 8 miles. That is something I couldn’t complete! I can’t wait to hear all about your weekend and run! xo
Hope you have a great weekend and be safe on the four wheeler!

1. What are you plans for Memorial Day Weekend?
I am going out with my girlfriends for my bachelorette party and Sunday is my bridal shower (which will be pool side). Monday I plan on visiting memorials of family members who have passed and then grilling out with family.
2. What was your favorite part of the week so far?
Today, because it is Friday and I have a lot of fun things going on this weekend.
Enjoy your weekend and I can’t wait to try some of the recipes out!
Have a nice holiday weekend,
Kaee

Sounds like you’re going to have a FUN weekend! Love your Monday plans as well. I hope you have a great Bachelorette party and Bridal Shower! xo

Savannah is b-e-a-utiful! I’d recommend Foxy Loxy Cafe for their amazing horchata latte, and the beautiful historic Victorian houses in that area. Also, Wormsloe Plantation on the Isle of Hope is a must for pictures of the mossy oak lined road, as well as sitting on the infamous Forrest Gump bench in Chippewa Square. Savannah has some of the best antique shops I’ve ever been to, but one of my favorites is Habersham for their large assortment. Lastly, Tybee Island Lighthouse, if you venture in that territory. Have fun, Taralynn!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you for the recommendations Rosita (gorgeous name)! I love horchatta, so that may have to happen! I just wrote down all of those!! xo
Have a great weekend!

I love hearing about your week. Even the boring ones.. I’m not sure why! Haha I love that you cleared up the “vague photos,” but please, keep him a secret for as long as you need to. You are entitled to it!
Not too many plans for the weekend. But on Monday my sisters and I are meeting up and taking our dad to Cedar Point. Then hopefully grilling for dinner with all of the family home.
Workouts have been so nonexistent lately. It’s awful I know! I walk my dogs and then by the time I’m done the heat has me wanting to just sit inside in the air conditioning.
Favorite part of my week has been taking my dog out to walk on the trails. We both love the peacefulness and the quietness of nature.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you Shannon! That means a lot to me 🙂 I will definitely be keeping all of that private. I appreciate your kind words!
Your Monday sounds like it’ll be super fun and it’s so nice that you are doing something for your dad. Sometimes no plans turn into a lot of last minute ones and I have no doubt that your weekend will be super fun and relaxing! As for the nonexistent workouts, it happens to ALL OF US! I’ll go weeks without workout out and that is what makes us human. Sometimes its a nice break for our bodies.
The trails are always nice because theyre shaded for the pups!
XO

1. Dogsitting for my favorite pup! Also going to get in some bike riding (congrats on your long ride!) and swimming because it’s supposed to be really warm!
2. I took a Dailey Method class yesterday that was really good but SO hard. Have you ever tried it?
3. What a good question, I really never stop to consider the highlights. I guess my highlight was getting a big project done at work (I love my work), then treating myself to that Daily Method workout.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Jenny!
1. Your weekend sounds so relaxing! I love it. & THANK YOU! I’m pretty proud of that ride!
2. I’ve never even heard of that!
3. It’s great that you love work! That makes me happy to hear. Congrats on getting that big project done. xo
Have a great weekend!!

Great post 🙂
1. Heading to visit my husband’s parents tonight and then tomorrow he has a cousin that is getting married. The second half of the weekend we are going to go visit our “surrogate family.” We are super close to them and don’t get to see them often enough!
2. I ran a super quick mile+ this morning. I worked at 8 AM and didn’t have enough time to do much else – or pull myself out of bed earlier than 6! Ha! But 1 mile is better than none. Yesterday I did an at-home circuit type workout and enjoyed that a lot.
3. My favorite part is that it’s Friday 🙂 ha! I also enjoyed doing a little makeover on an Ikea side table. It was black and I spray painted it with chalk paint. Now it’s bright green and I love how it turned out!
Have a great holiday weekend!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you Emily!
1. That sounds like so much fun! You have a busy weekend ahead of you!
2. 1 Mile is definitely better than none! Great way to get the creative juices flowing! Circuit workouts are killer! I am going to make one for the gym later.
3. That sounds super creative and cute!! I’d love to see a photo!

Your pictures are amazing and I always love reading your recaps! They always inspire me to cook, run, and drink wine 🙂 I wanted to leave a couple of recommendations for Savannah! Last summer, I did a southern roadtrip. We hit Charlotte, Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Savannah, and Asheville. Savannah is unlike anywhere I’ve ever been…..the historic cobblestone streets and mossy trees are incredible. The Olde Pink House was the best restaurant, and there is a piano bar in the basement. Make dinner reservations though because it’s small and popular! Forsyth Park is a must, I’m sure you’ll get lots of pictures. And lastly “The Sensient Bean” is the weirdest name for a cafe but it was SO GOOD that we went 3 times in our 3 days there. Coffees, healthy vegan dishes, adorable atmosphere, and night time live music. Can’t wait to read about your travels!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you Kenzie!
Those recommendations are great! I am writing them all down! 🙂

Be sure to check out Coffee Fox in Savannah! They serve great coffee from a local roaster (Perc) and also have some fun additional coffee drinks on the menu. And if you need an afternoon pick-me-up, they also have cheeseboards with some great options. It’s a fun cafe to pop into to.
Also, there’s a store called Shop SCAD where students from the Savannah College of Art and Design sell items they’ve made. It varies from jewelry to bowls or artwork for the walls. Lots of fun stuff and a great place to pick up a unique souvenir. Hope you have lots of fun! Savannah is one of my favorite cities.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you!! That sounds so good. SCAD sounds amazing as I love art! I will have to check it out! xo
Aleysha says
I am so jealous you are going to Savannah! Definitely walk around the “squares” downtown, and go to the riverwalk. There are no open container laws, so you can walk around with a glass of wine after dinner which is great 🙂 Also, if you get time- going out to Hilton Head is so worth the 45 minute drive.
1. No plans this weekend, I was in Vegas last weekend and out of town the weekend before also, so I need a weekend to be at home and get my life together haha.
2. Last workout I did was last weekend post Vegas. Work has been crazy this week and I’ve really slacked. Oops!
3. Highlight of my week has been forcing my BF to watch a scary movie with me. This sounds lame but I love them and he hates them, so it brings me great job when I can finally get him to watch one.
Have a blast in Savannah! I cant wait to see your pictures 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
For sure!:) I have that one written down. Good thing to know about the no open container law! 😉 I may have to just take my wine to go!
1. Vegas is so fun!! I think you are due for a low-key weekend for sure!
2. Slacking is always ok:) We are human!
3. That is not lame at all! It has to go both ways. I tried watching HUSH on Netflix but had to turn it off and watch minions. I was too scared…
xo xo & thank you

40+ miles on the bike is great! I would seriously recommend some padded shorts if long long bike rides are going to be a new normal. It saves your but & makes a huge difference. I personally like Pearl Izumi Sugar shorts, they’re short, but not absurdly so. BUT, it’s a super personal thing, so, it’s best to try a few pairs on. FYI. They feel like you’re wearing a diaper at first, since they have built in padding.
1. I’m heading to KY to visit the family & then on Sunday my Dad & I are going to the Indy 500 🙂 We’ve been together a few times & it’s so fun! I’m not into car racing, so I didn’t think I’d enjoy it, but it’s surprisingly action packed!
2. Today was leg day. But I’m not certain I’ve ever posted a workout to Instagram. I usually lock my phone up when I work-out & use it as total me time. No gym selfies for me.
3. This week has been such a blast. Monday night a friend & I headed to a local craft workshop & I got to make a neat piece for my house. Last night I headed to a new-to-me local brewery with some friends & the BF. It happened to be trivia night, so we tried our hand at that as well. 🙂
Happy Weekend!
Taralynn McNitt says
Yes, that is something I definitely need to invest in. Thank you for your recommendations, I will check those out! I know I’m going to feel so funny in them, but they’ll be a BUTT SAVER!
1. You are always doing something so cool! Have fun with your dad and I cannot wait to hear all about it!
2. Thats a great way to unplug!
3. Seriously…you live the coolest life! I need to see if they have anything like that in Charlotte. & I love trivia nights!!
xo xo xo Have a great weekend Jessie!

Okay, first, I LOVE your recap posts. I look forward to them every week. Second, where do you get the dark chocolate skinny pop popcorn, and I also saw in another post that you had jalapeno skinny pop popcorn. YUM!
For Memorial Day weekend, I’m heading to our cabin with my family and boyfriend! Can’t wait! The last workout I did was a run/power walk. If I can’t run the whole time, I walk SUPER fast and it’s almost harder in a sense. Favorite part of the week so far has been starting my new job at Caribou! I have a full-time job, but recently got a part-time job at Caribou so I can pay off debt faster.
I hope you have a wonderful time in Savannah! 🙂

Thank you Chandler!! They were both at Publix!

You will love Savannah! I haven’t been there in almost 10 years and I’m dying to go back. Since you love ghosts and spooky things like that, you should take one of the nighttime walking ghost tours, they are so much fun.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you! I am SO looking forward to it. I’ve heard all about the ghost tours! I may wait to go with my mom or Becca for that because they are obsessed as well!

I’ve actually been really proud of myself this week. My distances are necessarily super long, but since I have about 100lbs to lose, I cannot go very far at one time. I did a mile on Sunday, 2.5 miles on Monday, 2.5 miles Tuesday, and 3 miles yesterday. For me, that’s a lot and I’m proud 🙂
Did you leave the ebike off the entire time? That’s insane!!!
Taralynn McNitt says
Nice job on the progress. I’m proud of you! I did leave it off! I used it the last two miles because I was so sore.
Jennifer says
My weekend is actually going to be super low-key, which I’m kind of excited for because the past month has been non-stop. I’m also getting over a cold/virus, so it’ll be good for me to just rest up. I might try and re-finish my coffee table in the living room, and trying to make plans with friends for Monday!
Because of this cold/virus, I haven’t worked out since last Thursday! Went to the driving range on Saturday so I guess that’s kind of active! Then I started going down on Sunday haha and have been resting ever since so I get better quicker!
My favorite part of the week so far is the spaghetti my boyfriend made for supper last night haha and I’ve almost finished season 1 of Revenge! I haven’t watched it in a long time so I’m starting over. It’s been super rainy here too so it’s been a good week to be lazy!
Also, my mom goes to Georgia ever summer for the past couple years, and she loves Tybee Island. Have an amazing weekend! I can’t wait to hear about the trip down there! Maybe I can then give my mom some suggestions for this fall 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
We all need low-key weekends now and then! I hope you take this weekend to definitely rest up, hydrate and stay healthy! Being sick is no fun. I’d love to see pictures of the coffee table progress!
Its never smart to workout when you’re sick, so glad you’re being smart!
Spaghetti is so good!! I watched Revenge and it’s so good. I stopped on the last season though! I think I started over twice in the past four years.
Thank you! & i’m so so so excited to see it!

1.) I’m so excited for Memorial Day weekend! I have big plans to get the garden up and running with my dad! Then we’re going to have a big picnic feast 🙂
2.) The last time I worked out was yesterday. It was so strange, I’m usually a yoga/stretching kind of girl, but I was craving a run yesterday! Now my legs feel like they might fall off!
3.) My favorite part of the week was definitely falling in love with a new book I purchased. It’s called People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. I’m a sucker for historical fictions!
Taralynn McNitt says
That sounds like so much fun, especially gardening with your dad! I LOVE picnics and grilling out!
It’s always good to switch up the workouts. I’m a runner and when I do yoga, I feel all sore! It’s crazy how our bodies work.
I will have to look into that book!:) xo Have a great weekend!

Hey Taralynn!
1. My plans are to relax with my husband and our pups. A long weekend is much needed after a long work week.
2. The last workout I did was a dance workout on Popsugar Fitness YouTube channel. So fun, much sweat.
3. My favorite part of the week has been that it is FriYAY!
I LOVE the recap posts, and I have to know what brand of bread you are using. I know that is weird, but it looks so delicious. lol.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hey Jacklyn!
That sounds like a very relaxing weekend. FRIYAY IS THE BEST DAY!!!
I actually pick up the whole grain bread in the bakery section at the grocery store! It’s always the freshest!

Ahhhh did you know they canceled Nashville??! And left us with that cliffhanger without a chance of resolution? I can’t even take it.
Also, I swear I remember reading a post of yours a while back (year or two?) And you said something to the effect of…I’ll never have abs, I just won’t. Or something similar. Girl, LOOK AT YOU! Hard work pays off. You help me to stay motivated. Thanks for sharing.
Taralynn McNitt says
I DID BUT, another network/or Netflix is going to pick the show up!
I really don’t think I have “abs” just definition. I have a lot of work to do, but I’m still enjoying life while trying!:) & thank you!! xo xo xo

You have to go to the old pink house!! It is a super cute for lunch and they encourage you to walk around and check out the old house! They do get busy so make reservations. You would be obsessed with the downstairs bar in the basement and their raspberry vodka lemonade is the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted. Don’t remember the name, but they let you take them to go!
Taralynn McNitt says
We are going to try! It may be hard to get a reservation since it’s one of the busiest weekends! Thank you so much!

You will LOVE Savannah. The squares are a must and the Riverfront, Tybee Island, If you were a Girl Scout check out Juliette Gordon Lowes house, Fort Pulaski, SCAD, Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Wormsloe Historic site, First African Baptist Church, the Historic District, take a trolly tour when you get tired. Just explore. It is a beautiful city and I love strolling through the cemeteries (especially Bonaventure). There is a lot of great food in Savannah, just don’t visit Paula Deen restaurants though. They are over hyped and over crowded. Have fun!
Taralynn McNitt says
Wow! Thank you for all the recommendations! I am seriously writing all of these down. xo

Savannah is one of my favorite places to visit, I’ve been many times and I still haven’t seen it all. Olde Pink House is super legit but reservations are a must. If you can’t get in to eat dinner, still stop by and visit the side bar for a cocktail and an appetizer. My favorite quick spot to eat is Zunzi’s- try the African tea and the portobello sandwich. It is AMAZING. Have a fun trip! You’ll love it!
Taralynn McNitt says
I’ve heard its the best place! Thank you for all of the recommendations. I bet the Pink House is hard to get into this weekend! xo

Where’d you get your Underwood shirt? Love it!!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you!! It was actually a gift 🙂

Those green beans and the omelet look amazing! I’ll have to try them.
1. For Memorial weekend I plan to do lots of studying! Finals are coming up and a rainy weekend is the perfect weekend to study. Also maybe going to see the new Alice in Wonderland movie!
2. The last workout I was an ab workout in my PIIT 28 program! I’ve never been a fan or workout programs, but this program is by Cassey from Blogilates and I love it! It combines high intesity moves with the Pilates moves I love. It’s such a good workout!
3. My favorite part of this week was when my friends came over tonight to work on a project. We got some pizza and hung out for a few hours! It was a lot of fun and productive.
Taralynn McNitt says
I think you’ll LOVE them. I’m going to make the omelet for breakfast this morning!
Your weekend sounds very relaxing and it will be the perfect study excuse with all the rain. I know we are going to get rain too.
That does sound like a great workout!!
Pizza sounds so good!! Glad you had some fun before studying for finals! Hope your project turned out! xo

1. I’m going to two Anaheim Angels baseball games and my cousin’s daughters’ birthday party. Should be a busy but fun weekend!
2. I did a high-intensity work-out a few days ago, but I think I sprained my back :/. It’s been hurting lately, so I haven’t been able to go back to the gym to work out again. Wish me luck, I’m going to try tomorrow morning to workout again, much more gently this time!
3. It’s been a low-key week, but tonight was the best. I got to spend time with my parents and I don’t really get to see them often, so it was really fun.
Congrats on your new relationship, that’s so exciting! He seems active, based on the pic.
Taralynn McNitt says
Your weekend is going to be super fun! Nothing like a baseball game to kickoff the summer.
Nice job on your workout but sorry to hear about your back! That is no fun. Definitely take that next workout easy. Drink lots of water, ice, lightly stretch and keep moving to stay loose!
I love spending time with the parents on the low-key weeks. Sometimes we just need that!
& thank you! xo

Yeah, another recap post of yours! I love to read them for inspiration and also to motivate me for a workout or just for going out and doing something fun and special. So this morning I did a bike ride around a part in town where I have never been before. Went for 25 kilometers which is quite a lot on my old rusty bike 🙂
What are you plans for Memorial Day Weekend?
No memorial since I dont live in the US, but today we have a little festival on campus where I’ll sing with my choir. Tonight I am going to visit my parents and tomorrow I’ll have a date.
What is the last workout you did?
The bike ride, combined with an ab routine. I love the workouts from Tone It Up lately!
What was your favorite part of the week so far?
The movie night I had with my housemates yesterday. Was good hanging out with them after a busy week.
Taralynn McNitt says
Good Morning Vanessa!
That makes me so happy to hear that you love my recap posts! I enjoy writing them and reflecting back on my week. Nice job on getting that bike ride in!
Even though you are not celebrating Memorial Day, your weekend sounds like its going to be a blast! Singing in the choir was one of my favorite hobbies back when I was in school.
Tone it up has some great workouts and those girls are solid!
I bet that was so much fun 🙂 Nice way to end a busy week for sure!
I hope you enjoy your weekend and have fun at the parents house and on your date!! I can’t wait to hear all about it!

Savannah is SO FREAKING PRETTY- omg, I would move there in a second if I could. I really recommend you try out Zunzi’s for sandwiches- just a little hole in the wall, really, but epic sams- in fact that Man Vs. Food tv show guy Adam Richman voted the place as having the best sandwich in America.
https://www.yelp.com/biz/zunzis-savannah
Taralynn McNitt says
YES IT IS!
We didn’t make it around to Zunzis BUT it’s my brother’s favorite place down there and was recommended so many times. We are adding it to the list for the next time we go down there. I heard they have the best falafel!

Probably one of my favorite recaps in awhile! So detailed, can’t imagine it would be easy to remember all of that!! Wishing I had memorial day cabin plans, but the boyfriend and I move in together in 2 weeks! So we are busy painting old furniture making it new again and buying last minutes things (memorial day sales, holllla). Last workout I did was at work.. with the kids! We did school yard races and did yoga poses, stretches and conditioning! Lets just say nap time came easy Friday!! Favorite part of the week? When I accepted my new job with the City of Saint Paul!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you Sammy!
It’s sometimes hard to go back and recap. I have to go through the order they were taken in my phone or tagged on my computer. Congrats on the move! That will be so exciting. I bet working out with the kids is so much fun and doesn’t even feel like a workout! I used to love doing that back when I was nannying. AND CONGRATS ON THE NEW JOB!

1.What are you plans for Memorial Day Weekend?
Well normally we would cook out and play some corn hole but Wednesday I took my cat to be fixed and well lets just say it was a very bad surgery and now he is in bad shape and we jhave to keep an eye on him so we will prbably just stick it out at home with him instead of going out somewhere. But that’s okay more snuggle time with all my babies and the bachelorette comes on monday too so even better! I am a HUGE bachelor/bachelorette fan lol my favorites this year are..James Taylor the singer guy, Jordan(I think he looks and reminds me of shawn) and Luke.
2.What is the last workout you did? Tag me on Instagram in your most recent workout post! @taralynnmcnitt
Ugh I havent been working out I work so long hours at my job usually from 8am-6:15pm I come home cook dinner and pile up on the couch or bed I really wish I could find a better routine
3.What was your favorite part of the week so far?
My favorite part of the week was thursday I realized in one week I would be white water rafting and zip lining for the first time 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
I hope your kitty is doing ok!!! 🙁 You and I like the same bachelorette guys!
Maybe fit in 30 minutes before and after work? or just after dinner!
I can’t wait to hear all about your rafting and zip lining!
Kelsey says
Thank you he is feeling so much better now and I am glad to see my kitty back to normal 🙂 I love JoJo I think she will have a great season. I really didn;t remember derrick on the first niight but their first one on one date was soooo precious I am really starting to root for him as well 🙂 I am so glad it comes on tonight and tomorrow lol
I am going on a cruise in september so I really need to step up on my fitness goals 🙁 We are getting a tiny toy poodle thursday and I heard you have to walk and excerise with them quite alot so maybe that will get me motivated 🙂
The zip lining and white water rafting didnt happen 🙁 ssdly nobody else booked to raft the same day we did and they dont send rafts out with just two people on it so we had to change dates. So we decided last minute to go to a Atlanta Braves baseball game 🙂 It was my first baseball game ever and I LOVED it 🙂 not so much the drive or the traffic lol So now we will be going white water rafting and ziplining on the 4th of july for our 2 year anniversary 🙂

Hi Taralynn! I actually live in Savannah! It really is a beautiful place! While you’re here you should check out Beetnix Juice Bar on Broughton. The Foxy Loxy or the Coffee Fox are both great places to get coffee. Washington Street or Jones Street are great places to take pictures. The trees are beautiful! My husband and I got married in McCauley Park on 50th off of Habersham. The branches on the giant oak trees swoop down so you can sit on them- really good for pictures! I know you like wine, but for an alcohol fix you should try out Wet Willy’s. It is an alcoholic slushy. They have one in City Market, on River Street, and on Tybee. Before you leave you should also check out the Woof Gang Bakery for Mr. Grumples. They have a dog cookie bar. 🙂 Hope you enjoy your visit!! I look forward to seeing what all you do! My husband and I are always looking for new things to do in this city!
Taralynn McNitt says
You are so lucky to believe in Savannah!
The Coffee Fox was so fun and the coffee was delicious. We definitely went to the Woof Gang Bakery and spoiled him to pieces! It was pretty rainy and hard to get to the other streets, but we are adding it to the list!
Also, I love your last name. I’m sure you get that a lot! House of Cards fan here!
Evelyn says
I just read your post about the trip! Glad you had such a wonderful time! I walk by Cafe M almost everyday and have always wanted to go in. After reading your review I will make time to stop in!
My husband has the same House of Cards shirt that you have, and people think that he got it made as a joke. I love House of Cards and do not understand how people don’t get the reference!
Glad you got Grumples some souvenirs! ?

Hi Taralynn!
I love reading/seeing your recipes and all the different ways you cook up vegetables! I also love your spreads and how simple and creative they are and also a balance of healthy foods and just yummy foods! Also, your pictures of the outdoors are always so lovely!
I might be going into Boston tomorrow to do something with my family and hopefully have a fire with our fire pit one night, but other than that my weekend will be low key because I am moving back to my college on Monday for the summer!
The last workout I did was 4 rounds of 5 exercises with 15 lb. dumbbells! I’ve been into doing high intensity quick workouts using weights for something fast an effective and I love it. Just got new running shoes though and need to start adding running into my weekly routine!
My favorite part of the week was getting together with one of my best friends after she spent the past few months in Italy for a semester abroad! It was so great catching up and seeing all the beautiful pictures she took! Then, spur of the moment, she invited me to join her and other friends to go out for drinks to celebrate someone’s 21st, and we had such an awesome time bar hopping for her first time in the US!
I always look forward to reading your blog and whatever you post I love reading, so no shame in posting “something boring” because I’ll still look forward to reading something 🙂
Best,
Taylor
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you so much Taylor!
I hope you did get the chance to enjoy a fire in Boston! That sounds like so much fun and I also hope your move went well.
Those are the best workouts. I’ve been doing little circuits too.
Your favorite part of the week sound great and I bet your friend had so many fun stories to share with you!

I went for a 1.5hr cycle ride yesterday (my first time on a bike in over 2yrs) and have sore legs after only cycling 6 miles. Then I read your post, hahaha FORTY TWO MILES!!! How are you up and walking? 🙂 Haha, I have a long way to go! But I’ll get there so thanks for inspiring me! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
My butt CERTAINLY hurts…STILL (ONE WEEK LATER) but just add a couple miles every time you go out! xo

My husband and I are taking a road trip up the East Coast any places you recommend for hiking? We are going to try and hike a whole bunch of different trails as we make our way from Florida to Maine (:
Taralynn McNitt says
What part of Maine are you going to!? I love Maine so much! You should go to Great Falls in D.C. and if you make it to the Asheville area, they have so many hikes and pretty mountains to explore!

Hi, I know you are keeping most of this info private, which I agree with!, but I have a few questions regarding dating. I always wonder how people meet, so that I can get ideas for meeting someone of my own! Now I don’t need to k ow how you meet any of the guys you have ever dated or what not, but what are some of your tips of advice for meeting a guy? I am in my 20’s as well, and it seems you always meet fun and attractive guys that actually do cool things! I haven’t had such luck, but thought I would see what you say about this area of life! Thank you I appreciate it :3

Your healthy (not to mention delicious looking) cooking always inspires me to whip up a healthy meal! I’m continually impressed by your commitment to exercise and how far you go on bike and on foot! I hope you have a wonderful time in Savannah! I can’t wait to see your recap! I’ve always wanted to visit there!
My parents and sister are in town for the weekend, so we are just enjoying each others company and doing a few local adventures!
The last workout I did was from Tone it up! The two girls are silly and entertaining and I love that their videos aren’t super long so its easy to squeeze them in even if your short on time!
My favorite part of the week so far was the sunshine and warm weather that we finally got on Saturday! It finally felt like summer, and was great to spend time outside and have a giant salad for lunch!

Ive never seen that spread before–looks really good. Is it a coconut oil base? Ill have to look out for that.
Glad you had a great week 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
It has all kinds of oils. Flaxseed, coconut oil, sunflower, palm fruit and it’s super super good!

Congrats on the new man, and while I agree keep it private is there a way you can write a blog on how to find a man? I’ve been single for too long and if moving to Charlotte is the answer, I’m all for it.
I’m glad you finally got to go to Savannah, I was actually there a few weeks ago! My mother is in love with the town so i bought her down there again as her mother’s day present. I can’t wait to hear all about your trip and the exciting adventures you went on.
