In celebration of Summer, Balance bar is sponsoring a giveaway and running a Summer Shape Up campaign! It’s the perfect time of year to take advantage of the weather and extra time for shaping up. I had never tried the balance bars before, so I went ahead and gave them the go to send me a box. My roommates and I loved them. They definitely give quest bars a run for their money. Balance bars remind me of my grandma’s fudge.
I had one yesterday as I was leaving the gym and one this morning on my way to the mall. They’re the perfect to go protein bar, and I definitely recommend them! Especially if you like peanut butter fudge.
I really want you guys to try them out, so I thought a giveaway would be a great opportunity! Â Enter the giveaway below!
Summer Shape-Up Balance Bar Giveaway
The campaign will run through August 1. Balance Bar will be posting content (videos, tips, infographics and more) each day on the Balance Bar Facebook page along with weekly giveaways that will be held on Fridays. At the end of the campaign, certified personal trainer Holly del Rosso will lead a Twitter chat to share her tips on staying active and healthy. We encourage you to join and enter to win the grand prize giveaway!
SHAPE UP SUMMER CAMPAIGN!Â
Holly’s shares her summer workout philosophies and tips on Balance.com which include the following ideas:
- Take your workout outside. Outdoor workouts are challenging and refreshing so try paddle boarding, surfing, cycling, yoga in the park or group runs like a 5K.
- Eat seasonal fruits and veggies. Most fruits and veggies are at their peak during summer months and by eating them you’re adding more nutrients to your diet. Look to add a host of different colors to your meal with various fruits and vegetables. Try grilling vegetables (corn, eggplant or zucchini) for a delicious side to your dinner or add juicy fruits (blackberries, peaches and melon) to your morning breakfast.
- Find a buddy to workout with. By partnering with someone, you’re more likely to work out when you say you will and it’s also a great way to catch up with old friends. Some of my favorite “buddy workouts” include biking, outdoor dancing classes, canoeing, and of course, hiking (with a healthy picnic at the end!)
- Drink more “fun” water! It’s important to drink a plenty of water especially in the summer when you’re more prone to dehydration. I like to make infused water mocktails to make water more exciting and delicious and only adding 20 calories or less. Buy some fresh fruits, slice them up and add to your water. My favorite combinations are peaches and strawberries, strawberries and mint or cucumber and watermelon and you’ll want to drink it all day in fun infusers like these from the Ball® brand.
- Eat many small meals. When you eat smaller portions more frequently, your metabolic rate tends to be higher (meaning you can burn calories more easily). I always tell my clients to eat 5-6 small meals a day that are packed with nutrients, including a snack in between each meal with something like a Cookie Dough Balance Bar® which will keep you full longer and help satisfy your appetite. Balance Bar® is also a great snack to put in your purse or gym bag so you always have a nutritious snack on-hand and can avoid making those bad snack choices at that last minute and when on the go.
Balance Bar offers over 20 varieties of bars based on the 40-30-30 nutrition principle – a proven formula developed by scientists to help maintain your blood sugar levels already within a normal range. They help fill you up and give you energy that lasts through your workouts and daily activities.

these look delicious!

I have yet to try Balance but I also don’t eat a lot of packaged bars. I am more of a piece of fruit and nut gal because I mow a bar down so fast. If I have something to pick at, I seem to “feel” more full.

Trying to get a workout in the early morning before my 7 month old baby girl wakes up is how I stay in shape during the summer months. Thanks for the opportunity to try these.

My favorite tip is to get outside and be active. There is so much to do to stay healthy in the summer, walking, swimming, running, gardening, biking, hiking. The list goes on and on.

My summer tip: Take advantage of the hot weather. Who needs hot yoga in a studio? Embrace the natural hot yoga. 🙂 If you into that kind of thing. I only like it with a fan. I can’t do this complete breakdown, heat stroke yoga.

I think a great tip for summer is, stay hydrated! Sometimes we get lost in the heat of the moment (no pun intended), and we tend to forget how hot it is outside. Drink plenty of water, and have fun!
