Power Rangers Family Costume Idea for Halloween!

This was the first year I didn’t have full control over our Halloween costumes. Turns out, four year olds are very opinionated and fully capable of orchestrating an entire family costume theme. And that’s exactly how we ended up as the Power Rangers!

Once he decided on the theme, there was really no changing his mind.

On the bright side, after years of spending hours hot gluing and DIYing our Halloween costumes, this one was as simple as clicking “checkout” on the Spirit Halloween website. I still think we looked pretty cute, though!

We really wanted to find black and yellow Power Ranger costumes for the dogs to complete the whole crew, but I’m not exactly sure how that would have turned out.

I linked all of our Power Ranger costumes in my ShopMy!

The boys looked so cute, and we were super excited to get out and trick or treat around our neighborhood. Our entire neighborhood goes ALL OUT for Halloween!

This was the first year my older son was afraid of pretty much everything Halloween related, so trick or treating was a little short lived. We tried our best to scope out the houses with a few happy pumpkins and nothing too spooky.

I did fail him at one house, though. I looked at the decorations and confidently told him, “Oh, this one is so cute! There’s nothing scary here!” He walked right up to the candy bowl, reached in to grab a piece, and a HUGE skeleton head popped out at him. He screamed, I screamed, and we both took off running!

They seriously need “toddler safe” signs outside Halloween houses for parents trying to navigate trick or treating with terrified kids. 😂

We had a quick dinner and then headed out to trick or treat around 6 p.m. The weather was absolutely perfect for Halloween night. I don’t think we could have asked for anything better! It was one of those crisp fall evenings that just felt made for trick or treating.

We don’t get hundreds of trick or treaters on Halloween night. We get THOUSANDS! I had to refill this candy bucket about nine times throughout the night. Halloween is definitely a big deal in our neighborhood, and I love seeing how many families come out to celebrate! The best deal is going to Costco and getting their Halloween candy. I also had a bucket of allergy friendly/dye free candy and some slap bracelets/play dough.

Our neighbors throughout the neighborhood had stations for making s’mores, full sized candy bars, beverages for the adults, donuts, beignets…it was never ending! Every few houses had something fun going on. I would have only dreamed of growing up in a neighborhood like this. It makes Halloween feel so special, and I love that our boys get to experience it!

I know he’s four, but I definitely regretted not bringing the stroller with the scooter attachment because the amount of complaining about walking…😂 I guess a little over a mile in the evening is a lot for those little legs, especially after all the Halloween excitement. Thankfully, Dad’s shoulders did the trick!

And just like that, another Halloween is in the books!

These are the nights I know I’ll look back on and miss one day. Watching the boys experience Halloween together, seeing our neighborhood completely come alive, and making these little family traditions is what makes it all so special.

Now it’s time to take down all of the Halloween decor and get the house ready for Christmas! But before a single Christmas bin comes out, I’m determined to do a big declutter and clean out. I want to put away the Halloween decorations, clear out anything we don’t need, organize the closets and cabinets, and start the Christmas season with a fresh, clean house. There’s something about decorating for Christmas when the house already feels organized that makes it so much more enjoyable.

I hope you all had a happy Halloween! Now bring on the holiday season…but first, let me declutter this house.
