Everything this morning is good. There is coffee in my cup, the sun is out and I’m ready to start my day. After I get all my work done, I have some fun activities planned. I can’t just sit around on Leap Day! Before I get to work, I wanted to share my weekend with you! It was very low-key and relaxing. Those are the kinds of weekends I live for.
Also, you guys were totally right. It’s so much easier to write medium length posts more frequently becuase I can actually remember the sequence of events! So, you can expect more posts! 😉
I had no motivation to workout on Friday, but I told myself that a little workout would be better than none, so I headed over to the gym to a mile and a half on the treadmill and did three rotations on the machines. It was definitely a half-assed workout, but still better than no workout. I headed to my parent’s house Friday night to help them with some projects around their house over the weekend.
My parents are big into making breakfasts– even when I’m not hungry, they’ll have a breakfast sitting there for me. Saturday they made english muffins, turkey bacon and loaded hash browns. After breakfast, my mom and I took Grumples for a very long walk out on the country side.
After our walk, we headed to Amelie’s French Bakery. My mom has never been there before and I knew she’d love it. It’s my latest obsession. They have them all around the Charlotte area and if you’re ever visiting, add it to your list. I ordered the Le Sombre Chai Crème. It’s a chai blend with rich espresso and steamed milk. If you do go, that would be my recommended drink! They also offer almond milk, but I’m losing the love for almond milk in my latte. Coconut milk lattes are great though!
The weather was so gorgeous Saturday afternoon and the coffee shop was full of students, so we took our coffee to go and decided to walk around the little downtown area. I feel like Rock Hill is very underrated and I need to get out there more. It’s very cute and has a gorgeous fountain area to sit. They had the Krispy Kreme race over the weekend that involved a fun run followed by downing a dozen of donuts. That would have been fun to watch.
Also, I love receiving all of your Snaps! You can follow me at @taralynnmcnitt I haven’t been into a Khols in YEARS, but that is where my mom wanted to go for jean shopping. They had a rack with 75% off shirts and fitness apparel. I scored some pretty awesome deals.
After coffee, we headed over to the mall so my mom could pick up some new jeans. I love spending weekend with her and I don’t think it will ever get old.
They even have a Provisions market in Rock Hill. I had no idea…I’m always going to the one in Waxhaw!
They had my favorite local bars there! Bruks Bars 🙂
After our little outing, I was ready to enjoy the last couple hours of sunlight. I headed down to the Riverwalk for a run. I was surprised at how empty the trail was. It’s usually packed on weekends, but that meant more space for me! I love this trail because it is flat and hilly. It’s better for training when you add in some challenges. To update you all, I’ve been working hard on a new post for beginning runners. It’ll include my tips, my fails, and what motivates me. To be honest, even though I try to run 4 times a week, I consider myself a beginner. I learn new things every single day and there are a lot of facts I wish I would have known when I first started out. I am also putting together a beginner’s running gift package for a giveaway with the post! It’s going to be so fun.
This is my favorite part of the run. I get to enjoy my runner’s high while watching the sun go down over the water.
I stopped at the grocery store to get some ingredients to make my parents the same salad I had a couple Bachelor Monday’s ago (SPEAKING OF BACHELOR MONDAY, IT’S BACHELOR MONDAY). Salad recipe here.
I also had some gluten free pasta spirals with my homemade pasta sauce. I made a huge batch a couple days ago and stored them in mason jars. I’m going to make zucchini pizza’s sometime this weekend.
I tried out my new Bean Box subscription on Sunday morning and I can’t wait to share that post with you guys. They are also hosting a giveaway on the blog! The coffee was amazing and super fresh.
I also had a slice of wholegrain bread with peanut butter and honey. Strawberries were my everything over the weekend. Saturday was actually National Strawberry Day too!
After church I played with Grumples for a good hour. It was my little warm-up before my run.
I know people dedicate Sunday’s for long runs, but I just wanted to do three mile and call it quits. I kept it slow and steady!
I love finding little trails to run. People always ask me how I find so many places…to be honest? I YELP! 😀 Seriously, yelp is the best place to find local trails and parks.
Leftover salad after my run! I have my mom hooked on this salad now too.
I was going to make some cookies to go along with our Oscar spread. I saw these at the grocery store and thought they looked pretty good! They are gluten free and dairy free.
They were surprisingly delicious and close to the real deal. I also didn’t get bloated or feel gross after eating one of these. I bloat after eating anything later in the day. I haven’t had it checked out by a doctor yet, but no matter what I eat, my stomach bloats. My brother has the same issue as me. I have to pay attention to the types of food I eat if I don’t want to bloat. The difference from night to morning is crazy. I’m hoping that it doesn’t have anything to do with dairy or gluten. I need to stop reading up on it and just go to a doctor.
My afternoon snack: skinny pop popcorn!
Instead of making a giant Sunday night dinner, I put together a spread for the Oscars! I LOVE making spreads. I just picked out some different crackers, cheeses, and finger foods.
This platter had dried cranberries, prosciutto, candied pecans, garlic and herb boirsin, sharp cheddar, grilled red peppers, red pepper jelly, and mozzarella wrapped with prosciutto. All of these ingredients went so well together.
I also made a dipping oil with specialty breads. My dipping oil recipe can be found here.
The crackers were multigrain and sweet potato. The wine was Pinot Noir & Fetzer.
It was such a fun night! I thought that Chris Rock did a great opening monologue. The presenters were all funny, some awkward, but it was a very smooth show. I also didn’t feel like there were commercials every second like most award shows. The fashion was great and I was loving the emerald green dresses.
My Five favorite moments from the oscars?
- Chris Rock’s Monologue & Hosting
- Leonardo’s Win
- Lady Gaga’s Powerful performance.
- Whoopi Goldberg’s acting in the little skits.
- Red Carpet Pre-Show
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Now, I want to catch up with you guys!
- Did you watch the Oscars? If so, what was your favorite moment.
- What did you do to stay active this weekend?
- If you could choose the next blogposts subject for me, what would it be?
- Any special Leap Day plans?
Hi girl!!! I like how you’ve been doing more posts!! I love spending time with my mom and shopping with her. Im moving back to my hometown from Columbus and now we will be pretty much next door neighbors. I can’t wait to hang out with my family more!! I’m also looking forward to your running tips. As much as I try, I just cannot get into it! Hopefully your tips will motivate me more. I also feel your pain about the bloating. If you find out what is causing it please fill me in!!! I would love to solve that issue too!!
I loved watching Leo win. I have been obsessed with him ever since he was on Growing Pains lol. Have a fabulous Leap Day!!! Xoxoxo ?
Hi Sara!
Thank you and it’s so much easier. It’s so nice to have your parents close 🙂 I will hopefully have the running post ready by next Monday! & I’ll also keep you posted on the bloat! It’s so so frustrating.
I also love that Leo took his time to talk about some important issues and the Oscar’s never played the “hurry up” music! He’s a classy man. BUT, pretty sure he had a fat dip in that lip! Leo is gorgeous!!! & aging so well lol
Have a great week!
Ha! I told my hubby I though Leo had a fat lip like somebody punched him…and he said “ooor he has a fat dip in!” I think that was the case..
hahahahaha that or botox!
Do you have any tips on picking out running sneakers that you could add to your running post? I need some new running sneakers but I’m not exactly sure what to look for. There is a specialty running store near me where the people at the store watch you run and pick shoes for you based on they way you run, but most of their shoes cost about $150. I run regularly but I’m not a long-distance runner, so that is too much for me!
You can go to a local running store and they’ll fit you for some by having you run on a treadmill and they’ll study your run. It’s the coolest thing ever. They can also help with some unhealthy running habits. Also, when they tell me what shoes to get, I find the same pair on ebay for half the cost…Sometimes the stores will match the cost, but if not, get them on ebay.
I thought about doing that, but the store near me does the fitting for free so I would feel badly having them go through the whole process and then buying the shoes from somewhere else.
I would just ask if they offer match prices or maybe by some other much needed running supplies in the their store! Most of the stores down here definitely match prices! 🙂
I’m so happy Leo finally won, though I have to admit I really loved Matt Damon in The Martian. My husband actually worked the red carpet pre-show, and went back at 2 am to get ready for Live with Kelly and Michael! As for my Leap Day, I am unfortunately at work, the hospital never closes, and we got a few babies this morning in the NICU, (Yay! Leap Day Babies!)On the bright side my Starbucks still has pumpkin syrup! For blog posts I say maybe some more recipes, and I would love you know your take on different running shoes, I noticed you’re always wearing fun ones. I am always overwhelmed when I go and I swear always buy the same Nikes.
Me toooo!!!
Matt Damon was really awesome in that movie. Your husband, as I said before, has the coolest job in the world. LEAP DAY BABIES WOULD BE SO MUCH FUN!!! Definitely because running shoes is so important! xo
Oh I almost forgot my favorite part of the Oscars had to be Chris Rock and the Girl Scouts!! hahaha I posted a picture on my instagram of the ever dreamy Christian bale munching on some Thin Mints! <3 My favorite!
Lol yes! that was a great moment. Thin mints don’t make you thin Christian Bale!!! 😀
Love that you’re incorporating the medium-sized posts and that they’re working for you! This one put me in a much better mood because I’m having SUCH a “Monday!” (Bad luck this morning, all around!) I wasn’t able to watch the Oscars but am SO happy to hear about Leo DiCaprio’s big win! FInally! I’m also excited to see your beginner runners post and that coffee post! Coffee is my love haha 😀 This weekend I was able to make it to yoga, which was an awesome stretch for my sore muscles from kickboxing class last week. Hope you have a great week, Tara!! <3 xo
Thanks Colleen.
You can aways catch up with the Oscars later! :)Nice job on all your fitness activities! i can’t wait to share my runner post either! Doing all the photography for it this weekend!
Hi Taralynn!
I watched the Oscars with my boyfriend’s family this weekend in CT (We live in CO) and guessed who would win on ballots. Favorite moment was the little boy, Jacob Tremblay! He’s adorable! This weekend my boyfriend, his parents, and I took his two labs for a walk on the beach. Then my boyfriend and I took the dogs to the woods for another walk in the afternoon. I love your shorter updates (they keep my motivated) and I would love to see one about your new house and decorating on a budget. We are moving into an apartment soon and are trying to build a cute, cozy home on a budget! It’s rainy in CT so I’m currently watching a movie and snuggling with the pups on the couch.
Hope you have a wonderful leap day! 🙂
Abby
Hi Abby!
I have that was fun! Jacob Tremblay is ADORABLE. Ugh, a beach walk sounds so good right now. I love my apartment now and have made it SO HOMEY!! it’s all about rugs, throw blankets, rustic tables, throw pillows and cozy everything!!
I hope you had a great day and good luck on the move!! xo
Hey girl! You keep me feeling so motivated! I live in Wilmington, NC and am planning to move to Charlotte next year. Your post make me so excited because of all the neat places you find! Charlottes such a beautiful city, and I’m eager to check out some of the places you mention running at! Super excited for your running post!
Who are you wanting Ben to pick?! I’m really thinking it will be Lauren B…but I feel like he’s gotten a LOT closer to JoJo..we’ll see! Hope you enjoy your leap day!
Hi Michaela!
Thank you 🙂 I love Southport (near wilmington) and Charlotte is great. YOU’LL LOVE IT! Always something going on here.
I want Ben to pick Lauren for selfish reasons as I think she’d be the most boring bachelorette ever. I want him to pick JOJO because I think they have the best chemistry. I just don’t want Caila as bachelorette…the giggling gets on my nerves.
I hope you enjoyed your leap day too!!
Hi Tara!
I miss hanging out with my parents! I’m from Nebraska and have been living in Connecticut for about 2 and a half years now but I miss the Midwest! I love going back and visiting and I’m hoping to move back out that way (Colorado) soon. My boyfriend and I had a lazy weekend but did go hiking Saturday and Sunday. It has been so gray here that we had to soak in the sun while we could! I didn’t watch the Oscars but I did watch Fuller House this weekend and that was great!
I’m glad you’re enjoying your weather and had a nice weekend! Great post!
I definitely missed that, but maybe one day they’ll move near you! I’m going to start Fuller House tonight!
Have you tried taking a daily probiotic? My mom suffered from the same thing forever! To the point where she couldn’t eat dinner most days because she was so uncomfortable. She started taking a probiotic and it has mad a world of difference for her. I started taking one when I saw how great it worked for her and it really does make such a difference.
I havent but I’ll look into that! Thank you for the recommendation.
Hi Taralynn! Sounds like you had a nice relaxing weekend. I’m loving the shorter, but thorough recap posts! You’re so lucky you live close to your mom and can spend time with her. My mom lives in CA (where I’m from) and I only get to see her about once or twice a year.
I didn’t watch the Oscars, but read all about it and looked at all the pics this morning while having my coffee. All the celebrities were really on point with their looks this year! The dresses I liked the most were worn by: Rachel McAdams, Pryanka Chopra, Charlize Theron, and Alicia Vikander. The pictures of the after parties are the best!
The weather over the weekend was so nice, and I definitely took the opportunity to get outside and work out. Saturday I ran 7 miles with my friend to train for our half, it’s so much easier to run (and breathe properly) in warmer weather. Sunday my boyfriend and I walked 6 miles and back to Starbucks! It was nice to finally get some sun.
I’d like to see you do a post about your new house! I’m sure you probably want to wait until everything is finished, but I love seeing your DIY projects and all your décor, it inspires me to “dress” up my apartment more. Also, I’d like to see you do a post about your goals and progress. I know you mentioned a few new years resolution goals and have also talked about school it the past, so it would be kinda cool to hear about how those are going for you.
Sadly, no Leap Day plans for me except “working” which I’m doing right now haha 😉
Thanks Lisa!
I am definitely lucky and it was so sad when I was so far from her! Maybe one day you guys can live closer together. Rachel McAdams had my favorite dress. Nice job not he seven miles. That is my goal for next Saturday. Lucky your boyfriend enjoys walks with you! Such a keeper.
I am actually doing a DIY post on my current place becuase I’m obsessed with how it’s decorated and so cozy!!:) I’ve been taking classes from him which I fit into my work schedule, so that is going pretty easy!
You better get to work!! 😉
Hi!!! I have been following your blog for YEARS…since 2012 maybe? Anyway…I love the medium length posts. Seems like the perfect amoun of catchup!
Could you tell me where you got the workout capris from the first gym picture? So cute!
Thank you Katie!! 🙂
Those are from Dick’s Sporting Goods! They’re the Nike running!
Thanks!!! I will have to check those out!
Also–about the bloating–have you thought about keeping a food journal? I was having the same type of thing (bloating in the afternoon and made me not hungry for dinner) and went to an allergist for the first time! Turns out I am allergic to peanuts and almonds–had no idea since the only symptom I had was bloating. Since I stopped eating them and the other things I am allergic to, no bloat!
I am also a runner and have major bloating issues later in the day. I have been to a GI specialist with all kinds of tests done and what really ended up helping me quite a bit was the FODMAP diet. It is basically a type of elimination diet and through it I found out I have a dairy and fructans (wheat especially) intolerance. By eating dairy and gluten/wheat free I have minimal symptoms anymore (plus there are pills that can help alleviate symptoms for both:). I hope you find some relief! Good luck!
I will have to look into that!! Thank you! I have been eating gluten free cheerios with almond milk for breakfast and I never get bloated, I need to try that for dinner!
2nd endorsement of low fodmap! Your doctor will probably recommend the diet to you. It seems limiting at first but maybe just see how you feel after a week and then decide if you want to continue it. It’s not supposed to be long term! Taryalynn – it really helped me and is the only diet scientifically proved to reduce bloating!
I think everyone feels “bloated” to some extent at the end of the day?? I mean we have a stomach full of food after a day of eating so bloating is pretty normal I would imagine, at least it is to me and everyone I know. Curious what a doctor might tell you!
Ehhhh bloated, maybe. But you should never feel uncomfortably bloated even if you’re eating small amounts. It’s not all the time either, so well see!
I feel a bit awkward because my Leap Day is so ordinary! I wanna have some fun but I have Uni. Uuugh
Just do something nice for yourself today:) It can be small!
I loved Chris Rock’s monologue too! And I always adore the fashion.
I’ve been sick lately so I am easing back into being active by doing YouTube yoga! I love how easy it is to follow and it is so customizable. And seeing that I live in Alaska, outdoor fitness isn’t my favorite right now. Even though it is unseasonably warm right now, that means slush and some ice, it is not the ideal combination for outdoor activities. I am really excited for our Alaskan summers to come back around!
You have a great blog. I just binge-read all of your travel posts about when you were in Maine and the Dominican. They definitely stirred up my wanderlust and desire to go somewhere sunny and warm.
The fashion was great! Although, there were definitely some weird choices…
I hope you’re getting better! Being sick is no fun. I think it’s so cool that you live in Alaska! I bet the Alaskan summers are so beautiful and well deserved.
Thank you for the kind words about my blog 🙂 XO
The Alaska summers are phenomenal! It is light outside 80% of the time and even though it isn’t warm all the time, when it does get into the 70’s, it’s perfection.
oh my gosh, I have the SAME problem. Everything I eat past noon makes me bloat like crazy and gives me gas (TMI oops sorry lol) but I did get tested for h. pylori and it came back negative so I have no idea what it could be… probably the combo of so much fiber + all the gum i chew! Let me know if you get yours checked out!
I will definitely let you know Monica! Gum probably could do that! I gave it up a while ago becuase I was chewing a pack a day lol
What a great weekend! 🙂 I can relate to the bloating–ive been having it so bad with gluten and dairy. so many doctors appointments, tests, etc. im hoping to have things figured out soon–its sooo frustrating!
I’ll have to look for those gluten free cookies–they look very similar to the regular ones!
If you get things figured out, let me know!
The gluten cookies were so good and even better the next day.
That Oscars spread looks amazing! Questoon for you- do you plan your meals out each day? Or at the beginning of the week? Or do you just have a lot of choices at home…your blog helped me lose 50 pounds of baby weight! I am much more fit and healthy now then before my baby ? Thanks for posting so much it’s so very helpful.
Thank you Taryn!
I usually don’t plan meals. I like to eat what I’m craving. I hate making chicken for dinner and then craving steak. If I had a hard schedule, I’d definitely plan meals, but I’m very flexible. I make sure to keep healthy food in the house all the time. Congrats on losing all that baby weight. You go girl 🙂 & congrats on the baby! That is even more exciting. xo xo
Hey Taralynn! I live in Rock Hill so its cool to see you featuring some of my favorite places. You’ll have to check out free yoga in Fountain Park this summer! And there are also some very fun races in downtown throughout the year. Glad you enjoyed the area with your mom. Its so nice to live close to family, most of the time, haha!
I took advantage of the yoga in the park over the summer and I can’t wait for it to come back! i just signed up for a 10k coming up in Rock hill 🙂 I really am lucky to have my family so close!
It sounds like you had a great weekend!! I did not watch the oscars. And lately, my weekend activities have been full of long training runs. Seven more weeks and then I’ll go back to short ones! I have that same issue of bloating, and it doesn’t matter how much or little I eat. If you find out what it is, please share!
Long training runs are the best, although my long runs are only 6 miles…whoever said running gets easier…
Yes, I can eat a banana and just blow up! It’s nuts. I’ll definitely share!
Your Oscars spread looks so delish! Did you make your own mozarella prosciutto wraps? I buy one that comes in a log for special occasions, never thought to make one.
I really enjoyed the Oscars this year. I also thought Chris Rock did a great job. I absolutely loved Naiomi Watt’s gown.
Thank you Ashley!
Nope, I bought it that way lol (not that talented)
LOVED that gown too!
I didn’t get to watch the Oscars… I was hiking and working! :/ It’s pretty much spring here in California so more hiking is happening. I miss Charlotte and Amelie’s!
That sounds fun too though!
I need to get out to California soon!!
Great post as always Taralynn. You are such an inspiration! I skipped the Oscars I had to do homework 🙁 . I worked 6 days in a row and only had Sunday off so it was my catch up day on homework, and housework. I find it hard to get a good long workout it. Im lucky if I do anything at all. I would love to see some tips on quick everyday workouts that I can squeeze on my schedule. Also I have a fitbit flex and I just saw they are coming out with a new on the Alta. I know you have some sort of workout/watch. What do you have and I would love to hear your input on fitness trackers. Thank you for everything you do! Its Bachelor and homework time, then bedtime yoga!
Thank you Rachel!
Homework is definitely more important. I half-assed my reading and had to redo it in the morning because I couldn’t remember anything…oscar brain. I have the microsoft watch, but just got a new TOMTOM fitness watch so i’ll be writing about that soon.
Enjoy the bachelor!! xo
When he approached the stage it looked like he was chewing gum, maybe nicotine type gum? Maybe it was those girl scout cookies he bought and ate at the oscars. 🙂
Either why I just love him, so glad he finally won.
Maybe! Either way…HOTTIE!!!!!
Loved the GS Cookie addition lol
I know, even my 9th grader thinks he is quite the hottie. My husband wanted to know what is with women and Leonardo. I told him he is hot, talent and does all kinds of work to save animals and the planet.
Lol you have a smart 9TH grader. Leonardo to them is like the George Clooney to me! WHY NOT LEO FOR PRESIDENT?
The world would be a great place if Leo was president. 🙂
Hey Tara! Where did you find those gluten and dairy free cookies? I wonder if they are truly dairy free. I have noticed that I am extremely sensitive to dairy. I can have it but I have to make sure that it is in the late afternoon, night time or I just stay at home so my stomach doesn’t act up. I have found that a lot of food that you buy and don’t make yourself like bread, granola, etc can still have dairy, soy, or whey. Really makes your grocery list short and pinterest become your best friend so you can make thing your stomach can handle. 🙂
They were in the cold section where they sell the pre-made cookie dough by the butter and eggs! I can’t imagine how hard that must be, but I’m sure it’s a lot healthier! ALWAYS love pinterest
Hi Taralynn!
1. Yes! I watched the Oscars. My favorite part of any award show is always their acceptance speeches. I love to see the actors/musicians personalities come through in their speeches. I also like to see who is nervous, who cries, and who is a good public speaker.
2. This past weekend was gorgeous in Illinois…50s! I ran both Sat and Sun and did my old school Tae Bo tape to go along with it! I felt very accomplished after both 🙂 I love to switch up my workouts every few weeks to keep from getting bored.
3. I’ve followed your blog for what seems like forever now and I always want to ask you more about Mr. Grumples!! I am an aspiring Goldendoodle owner and would love to see a blog post dedicated to Grumps! Where did you get him? How did you decide on that type of dog? Any reasoning behind the name?!
3. No special Leap Day plans…just another day of work for me!
xoxo Jen
HI Jen!
1. I agree and I think it was one of the best Oscars yet!
2. Nice job on all the workouts and 50 degrees in Illinois is like summer! ha ha
3. Thank you 🙂 That would be a great post!!!
4. Enjoy your day!
xo xo
I am so glad you are writing more posts! I missed having more to read over the last couple of months. But taking a “break” is also necessary!(: I think it’s great that your parents live closer now! I know what it’s like when they live states away.
I am so excited for your running blog post! I have tried over and over to get into running. I love doing it but it’s so difficult that I tend to give up and do something else. But I’m hoping to get back into this spring.
I was busy during the Oscars and didn’t get to watch it, but I love the fact that Leonardo finally got his Oscar!!
When I’m reading your blog I think of things all the time that I would love to see you write blog posts about. But now I can’t think of any! Go figure.. Oh well I love readying all of your posts no matter what they are about(: (also did you pick a winner for the dicks giveaway yet?)
Hope you had a great leap day! I’m going to finish mine with the move Leap Year!!
Thanks Shannen!
I also love that my parents live so close — especially after traveling forever away from them.
I’m excited to share the running blog with you all!
LEO FOR THE WIN!!! SO HAPPY! 🙂
Lol well if you ever have any recommendations, go ahead and leave a comment! I never miss them. The winner was announced on Friday!:) I need to post it up at the top becuase it’s sort of lost in the post!
Hope you also had a great day!!
xo
I like your more frequent posts lately also!! I like your healthy inspirations more frequently throughout the week, keep them coming!! Definitely looking forward to your running post.
My dogs love those same spiky balls. They have one that same color that lights up!
My husband and I went to a few local parks and just walked around on Sunday, it was in the 60s here in Ohio but super windy!
I would love to see some posts about your work/life balance and how you stay focused working from home. I try to work from home a few days a week (I have a 45min commute ugh)and it’s definitely less distracting than being in the office but there are definitely other distractions at home also!! You always seem to fit so much in a day/week/weekend so I guess just some tips on time management also would be great!!!
Thank you Kristin!
🙂
That is the one that lights up! He is OBSESSED with it. Your Sunday sounds fantastic. I love park walking!
Working from home is so hard, but you have to get into the mind set and schedule EVERYTHING. I can’t sit still, so that may be why I fit so many things in! lol
Hi! I use to bloat like crazy too & surprisingly it was healthy things. I went to a nutritonist and she had me cut out broccoli, apples, cabbage, cauliflower & of course the bad fried foods. Now I mostly eat clean with the occasional cheat. It has definatly helped a lot and I never would have guessed it was those things! Hope this helps!
I thought it was going to be that too, but surprisingly it’s even when I have something small in my stomach like a turkey wrap. It’s only sometimes too, like last night I had a giant veggie stir-fry and had zero bloat. It’s so strange.
Hi Taralynn! About the bloating thing my sister had similar problems and she started following FODMAPS and it has solved all her problems! Unfortunately, she had to give up gluten and a couple other things that were big triggers but she has been feeling so much better ever since she started it. She’s been following it for about a year and hasn’t had a single issue, and I know other people who have benefited from it, too. Just thought I’d let you know in case it helps 🙂 Hope you’re having a great day!
That is what I heard and I’m totally going to cheek it out!
I reallllly hope it’s not gluten or dairy as I love both lol
I also hope you had a great day!!
I worked until 12 on Saturday, then headed to Ulta and picked up Zoe’s kitchen for lunch. Then gym for 1.5 hours. Sunday I cleaned my entire house and bikes 4 miles 🙂 Yesterday I went bowling for 2.5 hours… fun few days 🙂
I still need to try out Zoe’s kitchen! BUT you had a very very productive weekend!!
Sounds like such a fun weekend <3 I went for 2 long walks and did some yoga, and went to the farmers market with my dad :3 I would love if in your running post add some tips on breathing and side itch 🙂
Love yoga weekends and I need to get back into that! Yoga always sounds better when it’s warm! Breathing is a HUGE thing for me for running!
Totally true! Now that its getting colder here in Chile, gonna need the motivation to keep up! But I love it, so dont think will be that hard :3 <3 And thanks for the reply, It made me really happy :3 Will be waiting for the post <3 Wish you a happy day
Hi Taralynn!
So I’m sure you have read a ton online about celiac and gluten but I wanted you to know the only symptom I had before being diagnosed with celiac was bloating after everything I ate! My stomach would look so different from morning compared to night I just thought it was a normal thing until I went gluten free. My mom has celiac so I knew how to handle it with doctors but I really had to push for the blood tests. I even had one doctor only order one minor test out of the large amount you need. Tell me it was negative even tho it was positive. When I moved I got the full celiac panel blood test and it was more than positive. Now that I don’t eat it if I get accidentally glutened I get sick instantly. So it’s interesting how your body just learns to deal with it. There is a very small amount of the population that has celiac but it is worth gettting tested. If left untreated you stop absorbing nutrients. My mom and I both have gum recession because we weren’t getting enough nutrients. Also you want to eat a diet very rich in gluten before you go for the blood tests because once you cut it out your body stops producing the antibodies for it which is what you ultimately want but not before you’re diagnosed! Hope you feel better and I do hope it’s not celiac but it’s nice to get answers even if it is!!!
Thank you so much for all the advice!! I will definitely look into all of that.
I loved when Jacob Tremblay was presenting and he told Chris Rock that he loved him in Madagascar! CUTEST thing ever!!!!!!! Also where are those black and white leggings from!?!

Hey Taralynn,
I’m REALLY looking forward to the beginner’s running guide. I have shin splits right now from running too far too early, so I would really appreciate if you focused on how to stay healthy while trying to run.
Thank you Selin!
Definitely stop running on those shin splints until they are healed! They’ll only get worse. Running always helps me stay on track when it comes to being healthy, so I’ll write about that too!
1. I did not watch the Oscars! I was too busy marathoning Quantico. If you’ve never seen it, I highly recommend it! I originally had to watch it for a work assignment and now I’m HOOKED.
2. I spent most of this weekend working at my cafe job, which involves lots of walking around and climbing stairs! It was especially busy because Chicago finally got some nice weather, too. I didn’t get time to actually work out, but my legs still feel like I did!
3. I’d love to see some of your favorite paleo recipes!
4. My Leap Day involved my first day off in 8 weeks. I basically caught up on sleep and finished watching Fuller House! I’m so exciting, I know. 😉
1. I’ve heard it was so good!
2. Love the cafe job! Definitely an active job.
3. For sure!
4. Woohoo!! day off:) Still have to watch that show!
Your mum is so beautiful 🙂
She’s beautiful inside and out. LOVE HER! & thank you!
Have you thought maybe you might have a slight yeast Candida overgrowth in your digestive system? I found out the reason I’ve been bloating has been due to that, and being a hclf vegan I was so shocked. So I’ve gone on a banana island cleanse for about eight days and after that reintroduced foods into my diet and my bloating has dramatically gone down.
But yes, having a doctor check it out might be the best thing to begin with. :]
And I’m glad you’re getting into running!!!! Yay!!!! So happy you’ve joined the runners club. :] you should come to Washington state, there’s so many great running and hiking trails up here (and awesome coffee shops!!!).
I havnt even heard of that! Crazy!
YOU HAD ME AT COFFEE!!!!!
Ah I just saw your comment about bloating! It’s literally the WORST! Sometimes I bloat so bad that I can’t even eat 🙁 I’ve been diagnosed with severe IBS and it is no bueño. Until I was 21, I could eat absolutely anything and then something changed and now I can’t have any dairy without feeling terrible. I’m still learning (and trying to cut out hidden sources of dairy) but I’ve found places like Luna’s Living Kitchen and Fern to be my new favorites since their vegan. Cold pressed juice also helps along with a daily probiotic! A good run always helps too (I know you know that!). I’m still hoping that I’ll run into you and Mr. Grumples one day on the Lightrail Trail in Southend! I’ll be sure to say hey 🙂 Hope you get everything figured out – CMC has great specialists in that area!
I’m also looking into the Candida thing that Delena mentioned above — I’m thinking my issues could be stemming from that as well. Sadly coffee is one of the trigger foods 🙁
Those are my favorite store bought gluten free cookies! They really do taste good, and I love that I can just break off one or two when I want something sweet so I don’t eat the who package in one sitting =(. The Bachelor is getting so good. Can’t wait to watch the Women Tell All!
I must know where those exercise pants in the popcorn picture came from! Those are so cute! Also, was the strawberry pretzel dessert recipe taken down?
Dick’s sporting goods! 🙂
oscar spread!!
