Sunday Funday & Monday Not-so-Funday!

After the Christmas party Saturday night, I struggled waking up for church on Sunday, but I made it. After church, my parents and I had breakfast with Nick’s family at the Fish Market. Dom, Nick’s brother, is twelve. He has absolutely no idea what a Mimosa is. We convinced him that they call orange juice “mimosas” at the restaurant. When the waitress went around the table taking our drink orders, Dom said “I’ll have a mimosa.” Everyone started laughing. It was one of those “you had to be there” situations.

The Lions were playing at one and Stacks would have taken a couple extra hours to drive and wait, so we did the quick breakfast buffet. They have really good food though.

I had their waffle, fresh fruit, french toast, a biscuit, eggs, and bacon.

I shared carrot cake with my mom and had more coffee to go with it.

After breakfast, we went out house shopping with my parents around the area, picked up Grumples, and headed back to Nick’s to watch the Lions beat the Bears! We all had wins on Sunday. Giants won. Cowboys won. LIONS WON!

Ralph went all out for dinner. He made my dad’s favorite italian sausage, my mom’s favorite sauerkraut pizza, and pepperoni Stromboli. Everything was amazing. I’m not a fan of sauerkraut. My parents used to make it when I was at a friends house because I’d complain about how bad it stunk. I was iffy about trying his pizza, but I did it anyway. I’ll admit, this was probably the best tasting pizza of his I’ve had. A++++

Early morning on Monday, my mom and I went out shopping. I hadn’t bought anything for anyone! I wanted to get it all done and it took us about ten hours.

We stopped to get some Chinese because we were starving. I know it’s not healthy, but I tried to make it a little better by getting bourbon chicken and broccoli.

I love Christmas, but waiting the last minute to shop is the worst. I hate lines! I need to start shopping all year round instead. I prefer the baking and decorating over shopping.

Today, I am baking with my mom and heading to church tonight!

What are your Christmas Eve traditions?

  1. Do you find yourself always on the go, Tara? Love your life, once again. But I think you already knew that.

Also, I don’t know what a mimosa is, but it sounds like an alcoholic beverage, eh?

  2. Luckily at my house, we have got all of our baking pretty much out of the way, and sent out our christmas cookies, but we are going to our Christmas Eve sermon this evening; it should be nice.
    Merry Christmas!

  3. That pizza sounds so good! Are your parents moving again? Merry Christmas

  4. I was so glad I got all of my shopping done last week! On Christmas Eve, we open gifts as a family, bake my favorite press cookies, and go to church in the evening.
P.S. I’m making your cinnamon roll recipe for Christmas morning:)

  5. Every year on Christmas Eve, we go over to my dad’s house. We always have some sort of sandwiches and snacks and then we exchange gifts. It’s so fun watching my nieces open their gifts 🙂

  6. I try to get most of my Christmas shopping done in November so I can really enjoy al l the events in December and not be stressed out!
