Saturday morning, Emilee and I headed to Newton, North Carolina to look at a house. Don’t worry, I’m not house hunting in Newton for myself. My parents just sold their home in IOWA and are on their way down south. They have me out searching for homes with the following criteria. It must have a fenced in backyard with a lot of acres, an inground pool, and a big garage. I didn’t realize how far Newton was from North Carolina when I headed there yesterday morning. So it was the perfect house, but just a little too far out. I’m back on the hunt. Even though it was a long drive, it was still gorgeous.
After going through the house, we stopped in the little town to get coffee and lunch.
We stopped at Zanier’s Coffee house. It was an antique shop as well.
I ordered a small nonfat cappuccino.
After coffee, we walked across the street to grab some lunch at the Blue Moon Tavern.
I ordered the grilled chicken salad! It was pretty good. It’s all about the ranch when I order salads and theirs was spot on.
After spending the day out exploring, I stopped at the store to pick up ingredients for my momma’s cheese ball for the football weekend. I’ll post the recipe right after this blog post.

I haven’t had salad in so long, thanks for the inspiration of chicken, lettuce, croutons and cheese. 😀

Troll in the dungeon! Troll in the dungeon! (seriously, don’t you have anything better to do than follow TL everywhere making fun of what she eats?)

Brenda, Linda @ the Fitty is a regular commenter. She’s a health and fitness blogger, too. Her comment is probably totally earnest.

I perform at The Old Post Office Playhouse in Newton right down the block from The Blue Moon Tavern! A fun fact about Zander’s Coffeehouse it is owned by some of the family members of Denzel Washington’s wife who is a native of Catawba County! They even visit sometimes. Glad you had a wonderful visit to a special little town.

Very Cool!
I saw all of their Denzel Washington’s stuff hanging up and the lady working was from Catawba! 🙂

Does that make you kinda sad you’re going to be completely uprooted from Iowa? I grew up in the middle of nowhere Illinois, but I’d still be a bit sad if my parents ever decided to move elsewhere. Although, I have grandparents and uncles and siblings that still live in that area.

Sounds like a fun little adventure! 🙂
