Not everyone has the time, money, or energy to head to the gym everyday. That is why I love Youtube! There are millions of free workouts that you can do at home, in your dorm, in your backyard, or wherever you want! They are just as effective as fitness classes or spending a ton of time running on a treadmill. You don’t have to spend time driving to a gym, dreading the crowded weight room, or feeling embarrassed around people. You can always do workouts privately. There shouldn’t be excuses when so many great videos are out there for your convenience.
I do this workout at least once a week. You don’t need any equipment and it really gets your heart rate going. The movement are really easy and perfect for uncoordinated (me) people. It’s good to take a break from running, and this is my go to on those days. When I first did this video, I couldn’t complete it. If the moves are too hard, customize them until you work your way up!
This video used to be challenging for me! Now, I rewind (90’s term) and do it over again. It’s a great way to get a cardio burn without running. I did this a lot when I had runners knee. My knee could take these kinds of exercises, just not running. It was so frustrating. I do think these workouts helped strengthen it. The video is very upbeat and fun!
I know I’m not a mom, but I love CafeMom Studio workouts! I do wear my Ipod while doing this workout because the “no music” can get pretty boring, but it’s still a great workout. I find that listening to music makes me work harder. If you have a busy schedule, try to do this early morning before your day!
I’m not going to lie; I felt so silly doing this workout, but it really worked. I was sore, sweaty and out of breath at moments. It was actually fun. As long as no one is watching me, I don’t mind this workout. If working out bores you, you might like this one. It’s not as easy as it looks either.
If you’re looking for a “calm and peaceful” yoga video, this one isn’t it! Yoga comes in all kinds of forms and I like this one! You really work up a sweat and work on muscle conditioning. If you like defined lines on the body, try this workout a couple times a week! I would say this is yoga for weight loss.
Now this workout was insanely tough the first time I did it! I think I completed 30 minutes before wanting to quit. In the summer, I like to do this in the backyard. The workout has some great rest spots for beginners. If you like yoga and pilates, you’ll like this one! Plus, some trainers have annoying voices and hers is calm!
All of the Fitness Blender videos are great! Downfall? BORING AS…you’ll need to play your own music! But, they REALLY work. There are so many videos that work all parts of the body. I like the short ones for after run. I also love working with kettle bells. In Georgia, I used to go to a kettle bell class 4 times a week.
I’m not a huge yoga person, but I love Tara Stiles! She is the image of yoga. She has great videos for beginners that are very calming as well as challenging. I do this video a lot after cardio workouts. The more you do this video, the easier it gets. Soon you’ll memorize the routine and you won’t need the video anymore.
I love this video because the trainer reminds me of myself. I like to do outside workouts, but also don’t “look like the pros” when I’m working out. I have sloppy form but it works 😉 This workout is doable, tough, and fun. I love that you can hear the birds in the background. It makes you crave summer! This video also proves that you don’t need a gym to workout! This video is so realistic and organic. I love it!
This video is perfect for runners who are looking for a new stretching routine. It’s important to stretch after you run! It really helps the aches and pains. I use a lot of her stretches after my workouts.

I would also include blogilates on this list. She is so amazing and her workouts work you hard!
I second blogilates!!! She is really fun to work out with, her videos are always so colorful and NOT BORING at all! I think you would like her 🙂
I love Blogilates. I can’t keep up with Cassey! I want to have her upbeat personality…and I’d take her fitness level too.
LOVE HER WORKOUTS! she’s so upbeat and positive it almost feels fun 🙂
I love at home workouts! Thank you so much for posting your favorites. I always forget about YouTube for workouts. I cannot wait to try them all.
Lovely post Taralynn, very useful! Have you ever heard of Blogilates by Cassey Ho? Every month she plans and sends you your daily workout for free, it’s amazing! I suggest that you give it a try:)
Thank you so much for sharing! I’ve been looking for more videos to do and these ones seem great! I’ll have to try them out. 🙂
i love kettlebell workouts!
Thanks for this! Great resources. I love kettle bell workouts. I also do “Ballet Beautiful” DVD three times a week.
I love this post! Right now I’m really loving the 30 day shred by Jillian Michaels. It’s kicking me into gear but it’s so worth it! Love the new site by the way! You’re great!!!
Thank you for sharing this! I currently am doing the Pauline Nordin “butt bible” series on youtube. I will be sure to check these out, thanks again!
Thanks so much for posting these! Just did the yoga video with Tara Stiles and I think this is going to be a part of my new morning routine–wake up, make tea and fruit/chia water, then do this video! Thanks again!
These sound awesome!! Thanks for sharing! Definitely gonna try some of these…
I loved this! Thank you so much for sharing! This post is so different from what you usually post, but I love hearing about the exercise part of your healthy lifestyle. I have often wondered what else you do besides run. Now I know! 😉 I am especially excited to try the Jillian Michaels Metabolism Boosting Workout and the BEFit HIIT Workout. That looks really challenging! Do you ever do Blogilates? Cassey is one of my favorite YouTube trainers. Also, I really like XHit Daily. I don’t love all of their workouts, but I do really like their ab exercises.
Great list, Taralynn. Thank you so much for sharing. May God bless you!
Hi Taralynn!
I’m your fan from Poland and I thought you would like to see our polish fitness goddess Ewa Chodakowska. Here is her you tube channel with some films http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBiG1Oy7IRBVI8Y0eXGBIVNSYohQVEnL5
Each is about 6 minutes long, you pick 5 and it gives you 30 minute training.
There are also some uploaded dvd’s of Ewa on you tube, the best are Killer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7MoZwYyx7I , Turbo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xo-hUZYDORU and Skalpel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GJlXFu7uVE .
I know everything is in polish, but you may give it a try, it’s not complicated, just remember to keep your abs tight all the time and don’t let your knees get over your feet ( while doing squats)
Have fun!
Katarzyna
i love workout videos but i am such a perfectionist that i get frustrated if i get a move wrong – then want to redo it – and then suddenly i’m way behind! i subscribe to Shape magazine and they always have some awesome workouts with multiple pictures of each move. i practice the moves first to make sure i’m doing them correctly and then do the full workout!
It was funny reading your list cause I went from being a gym girl to deciding to workout at home and a lot of the videos you mentioned are ones that I do. I feel the same way you do about Tracey Mallett’s video. I make sure know one is around when I do it but it really is a good workout. 🙂
I love sharing workout ideas. So I thought I’d share my youtube workout playlist with you. I update it often when I find something new, maybe you’ll find something new to try out.

Awesome! I’ve been doing the Jillian videos but want to try something new. I also found “yoga with Adrienne,” on youtube. she seems normal, not overly boring or crazy like some of the videos i find on youtube!
Love this! I always loved YouTube workouts but there are so many it’s hard to narrow down the good from the bad, thanks for sharing your favs! 🙂
Thank you for this post! I’ve been having trouble getting to the gym because I just started a new job that has me leaving the house before the gym opens and getting home after they close, so this post gave me some great ideas for at home workouts.
Thank you so much for this! I was dreading spending hours looking for good online workouts and know I dont have to:)
Thank you SO much for sharing this!! I couldn’t have read it at a better time… you just saved me from spending a fortune on workout dvds! I’ve been following your blog for a couple years now and so appreciate all that you post. Can’t wait to try these 🙂 xoxo
I’m currently 7 months pregnant and I followed your posts beforehand, I have loved everything you post! I too love to use Youtube for all my exercises. I can’t wait to try these exercises out to lose the baby weight!
Where in Georgia were you from? My hubby and I are heading down to Pooler in a couple of weeks to check things out. We want to move somewhere warmer than Massachusetts. I love that you posted all of these you tube links! I work out at home and get bored with my routine so it’s great to see other workouts to help mix things up. Thanks so much!!
Love that you posted this. Going to bookmark this page NOW for times when it’s too bloody cold to fathom wanting to leave my condo.
Thanks Tara!
Nice tips 🙂 Great post <3 🙂

I love blogilates and any of Jillian Michael’s workouts! Jillian also has a podcast I like listening to when I go running, it’s informational but also pretty funny. I have trouble motivating myself at home so I like doing group fitness classes at my gym more often than anything else though. All you have to do is show up to the gym and then the instructor helps motivate you and choose a workout. I was wondering, have you ever tried doing any Les Mills workouts? (Bodypump, bodystep, bodyjam, CX works, RPM, etc)
Thanks so much for posting up this list Taralynn! I loved Jillian Michaels’s 30 day shred videos – but now I’m excited to try these. Just added them all to my watch list! – Thanks, Shelly
These videos look great! I am always a little nervous to do videos because I am afraid I might do something wrong and end up injuring myself. My mom did Pilates videos and she injured both her wrists not knowing she was doing a pose wrong…but I would love to try some of these videos since going to the gym can be a pain sometimes.
Also, I was wondering what you recommend for a watch that counts how many calories you burn..I would like to get one but I don’t want to spend a ton of money but I also want it to be accurate. $100 is probably the most I would spend. If you have any recommendations I would love to hear them!
Thanks!! PS Love the new site!
bexlife and x-hit are amazing too!
bookmarked!!, I love your web site!
Wow! Te felicito!! tu página es perfecta y lo mejor de todo es que eres un gran ejemplo a seguir 🙂 Muchas gracias
Have you tried the Nike Training Center app? I love their workouts! They have ones that work for people in every fitness level.
Thanks for this! I can’t really afford to pay regularly to workout so I bought Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred DVD. I’m still on Level 2 so it’s taking a bit longer than 30 days! but i have seen huge improvements. I jogged for 25 minutes yesterday without stopping… something which I never dreamed I’d manage before I started the challenge. It gets kinda repetitive though so it’s good to know of some other great workout videos that are available. Thanks Taralynn
Hey! Have you ever heard of Blogilates? If you don’t like Yoga but like the way it makes you feel…check her out. She does something called POP pilates which makes it really fun and challenging because you do it to the most recent upbeat songs! Very cool, i’ve been doing her alot lately!
Correction…I didn’t read far enough down in the comments to see that someone already suggested her! lol nevermind.
So I just found your blog, and I love it so much! I’ve already made two of your recipes and woke up this morning to do the first Jillian Michaels video you posted here! I NEVER wake up early to workout! Not gonna lie, I had to skip a circuit but I’m going to keep working at it. Thanks so much for all your insight and wisdom! I admire the way you’re living your life!
Time to get my sweat on! 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing these! I have been trying to find some workouts to do that I’ll be motivated to do and that won’t cause me stress. I like doing some exercise, but I often push myself too hard. I’m in the final stages of an ED recovery, and was ready to start working on my strength, so thank you so much!
