I was up early this morning and ready to tailgate with some friends at the UNCC vs. PC game. Most of my friends went to PC and it was cool seeing them in their element. Before the game, I needed to do a couple things…grab coffee, walk the pups, and buy snacks because there was no way in hell I was baking that early.
Speaking of baking…
I went to the movies last night to go see “The Visit.” I don’t normally go see movies like this; I wait for them to go on Redbox of Netflix. I am so happy I went to this one though. I was expecting to walk out going “that was so stupid.” Instead, I found it to be one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while (Maybe I need to watch more movies.) They cast this movie perfectly and the storyline was great. I didn’t find myself predicting what would happen next. If you’re looking for a good movie to see this weekend, I give this the full five stars on a weekend-date ranking. The people sitting in the theater made it really fun too; we all screamed and laughed together.
My theater snacks (because we didn’t have dinner before): Daily Greens & Chia Bar.
I made Earthfare’s organic kettle pop with some M&M’s on top and we started watching Netflix’s new series Narcos, but didn’t make it past the first ten minutes.
How many of you add M&M’s to your popcorn?
I’ll be saving money on blankets this year.
OK, back to this morning.
Dear lord, this post is all over the place.
I grabbed some coffee from Starbucks, and no it wasn’t a Pumpkin Spiced Latte (even though I wished it was.) I usually order a tall, non-fat, no whipped cream pumpkin spice latte. That’s a pretty skinny drink, but it still contains 38 grams of sugar and 39 grams of carbohydrates. I normally don’t pay attention to that stuff anymore after my recovery, but that is just way too high for a drink I can make at home.
I’m sticking to my tall nonfat latte without the pumpkin spice. Sorry if this ruined PSL season for you, but I just thought you should be aware of all the added sugars in the drinks.
We got to the tailgate at 10 am. I brought a protein bar to eat instead of diving into the tailgate food. I’m trying hard to eat better this year. Last year was a disaster and I took advantage of football season with all the chicken wings and pizza. I don’t want to do that again because I’ve been doing really well. We watch a lot of football and I’m planning on packing on the veggies this year…not lbs.
The Lemon Zest Luna bar is like a dessert…so good.
Since I didn’t feel like baking or cooking, I picked up donuts (ironically just got done talking about sugar) and chips to the tailgate. I thought it was only necessary to bring SOUTHERN biscuits and gravy chips since it was a southern tailgate ;). I was excited to see that Light Cider was back at the grocery store because it’s a Fall treat for me.
I decided not to the to the game because Iowa and Notre Dame were playing. Today is a big game for Iowa; they’re playing Iowa State, so I couldn’t miss it. Plus, I wanted to fulfill orders for the shop while watching the game.
I rocked my Iowa shirt today. GO HAWKEYES!
If I can get my tired but off the “football couch” we are going to go out with everyone tonight.
Oh & I also have all the new flannel dresses up on my shop! I’m currently ordering more sizes since a lot of them are sold out. So don’t worry if you can’t find your size! It should be up soon 🙂

I agree about the pumpkin spice latte. I wish they had a sugar free syrup!
Taralynn McNitt says
Sugar free without all the fake sugars or at least LESS sugar in the drinks.
Holly says
I have never actually had a PSL for that reason! Though I hear they are delicious I had a feeling they were nothing but sugar. If they offered a sugar free version I would be ALLLL over it! Can you teach me how to make one at home?!?!
Taralynn McNitt says
I love making homemade lattes! I’m going to do a post here soon on my AT HOME pumpkin spice latte!:)
Jenn says
I can’t get behind this years Lay’s flavors. None of them sound that good to me. Last years winner is one of my favorites though-Wasabi Ginger, yum!
Taralynn McNitt says
I couldn’t do the Wasabi Ginger! eeeeeew. I should have tried the grilled cheese!
Chelsea says
Recovery from what? Can u please share your journey? I struggle with binging
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Chelsea,
I recovered from an ED. I have a little bit about my journey on my blog, but still not sure how to discuss it in a post. Some people are very open about their struggles with anorexia, but I’m not 100% ready to discuss every little aspect of my journey which is why I don’t discuss it much. Mainly because i don’t know how to. I’ve thought about having a professional help me write out a post because I’d rather have it include some better explanations as to why I did certain things, it would be more informative and help people notice the signs or get help.
I am sorry you’re going through a rough time right now and I really hope you’re seeking help because binging is just as dangerous as all the other E.D’s. There are so many people who struggle with the same thing.

Just came across your blog and followed! Love your posts!
The Fall is the struggle time of the year when you just want all the bad drinks at Starbucks! We must stay strong! And yummy, Southern Biscuits and Gravy! Love those!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you Krystle!
🙂

I’m glad you mentioned that movie because I was hesitant to go see it and now I must.
Taralynn McNitt says
It’s freaking hilarious! I want to go see it again.

Did you color your hair? I like the two-tone! I’ve been debating whether or not to get my hair done or just let it go natural for the winter. Was it expensive to go blonde?
Taralynn McNitt says
It was pretty pricy because in order to keep it healthy-ish, I had to get it conditioned, blended, and so on…It was a monthly process. I have gone about three years now with no dye and regular haircuts! I’d say the blonde is due to sun-damage…but I try to get it cut out every month. I’m sure it’ll tone down this winter!

Your blog posts always get me excited for football and fall. Thank you for keeping up with your blog regularly. I don’t know what to do with myself when there is nothing from you to read. It’s a morning ritual. My office ladies are hooked on it too.
Taralynn McNitt says
I’m just excited for Football and Fall 🙂 Thank you for reading my blog and tell your office ladies I said so! xo

BISCUITS AND GRAVY??
Taralynn McNitt says
THAT’S RIGHT!! and they taste just like…..BISCUITS AND GRAVY!!!

I need to find that Apple Cider beer. I drink the ones with 29 grams of sugar in them and feel horrible about myself after. I’d love to find a light one!
Taralynn McNitt says
It’s all about moderation! Having something you love every now and then isn’t too bad:)
Cam says
Thank you for offering XL’s now. I love your clothes but can’t fit into larges. You are beautiful and seem very happy lately.
Taralynn McNitt says
Of course!! Thank you Cam 🙂
Pat says
That picture of you and Grumples is adorbs.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you!!
Julia says
Taralynn, I love all of the clothing in your shop. Do you handle returns and/or exchanges at all? Thanks for all of your posts, they are always a fun read!
Annalisa says
Those pumpkin spice lattes are my favorite but I agree with you on the sugar! They also hurt the wallet, too. I’ll treat myself every once in a while but to get my pumpkin fix I’ll just plug in my Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Wallflower from Bath and Body Works. My whole apartment screams fall :).
Taralynn, I’m an Iowa transplant in the Carolinas, too! Go Hawks!
ELauren says
I definitely had my fair share of movies and popcorn this weekend too! Popcorn is my addiction! I usually go for air popped with coconut oil spray and nutritional yeast or Skinny Pop. The worst thing is my body is horrible at digesting corn so I always end up feeling kinda off the next day (maybe because I can never stick to a proper portion size haha). But it’s always worth it 🙂
Selene says
I’m inspired by your journey.
BTW, what’s in that jar?

I loved your comment about not needing blankets this year. Tino is such a cutie! I have a dog who some people consider an “aggressive breed” too, she’s a 60lb rottweiler mix, and it cracks me up that people assume she’s an aggressive dog b/c she is the biggest chicken! She has been terrorized by a dachshund before, I had to come “save” her from my friends 10 lb weiner dog.
Carley @ Optimistic Health says
YIKES! 34 grams of sugar- that’s way more than the daily recommendation for adults. I’m not too fussy these days either but sugar is one thing I watch… when we were learning about heart conditions last year in nursing school sugar and salt were huge culprits in most cases since they cause inflammation.
Jessica says
Lemon Zest is my favorite Luna Bar flavor!
Anita says
Thank you for recommending that movie!! It was so funny!

Your figure is looking so much healthier now than it did when I first read your blog. I love that you focus on loving yourself and your body instead of just dieting and trying to reach unhealthy, stick thin goals. As someone who has struggled with bulimia, it’s really hard for me to find food/fitness blogs I’m interested, because it can be triggering to me to see girls with teeeeeny tiny legs and perfectly toned stomachs talking about how having an occasional treat could ruin your wholle diet.
