Good morning, everyone!
As I began to write the recap for this week, I realized that each day was filled with so much that you’d be here for hours trying to get through it all. I’ve decided to try my best to hop on the blog each morning this week to fill you in on all the fun things we’ve been up to around here. We’ve been cooking up new meals, landscaping a ton (we have eight huge trees arriving today!) putting rooms together, and just hanging out. I’ll share some of the meals we’ve been cooking tomorrow 😊 Today, I want to recap Mother’s Day!
The best thing we ever did was get rid of the T.V. in our room. I’ve been falling asleep so early each evening and rising with the sun. I downloaded the sleep app that goes with the apple watch to monitor my sleep, and my patterns have been so different since moving here. I’m sure the extra sleep has a lot to do with getting worn out during the day, but I think taking out the T.V. is the biggest reason. Ok, enough about that.
I was up bright and early on Sunday morning to drink coffee, watch 90 Day Fiance, and cook breakfast for my mom. It was so fun going out on Sunday morning because we had our fence installed, which meant the dogs could go off and do their business on their own without us having to walk them a mile. I have a feeling my mornings are going to be much more relaxed now! I’ll blog more about the fence and all that I did on Saturday this week.
I was out cutting flowers from around my house for my mom’s brunch table. My dahlias love their new spot, and they have been blooming like crazy! After I sign off the blog, I have to head out and clip some more, deadhead the petunias, plant some driftwood roses, water the flowerbeds, and then get ready to plant the new trees we are having delivered! I kind of love this never-ending cycle!
And our new fence! 😊
I was so happy to cook breakfast for the family for the first time at the new house.
I made my fluffy gluten-free pancake recipe and it turned out amazing! I made a lemon berry one with juice from half a lemon, poppy seeds, blueberries, lemon zest, and blackberries! The second one was a cinnamon chocolate chip.
I have had more messages than ever about these pots. They are pretty much at every single Home Goods I go into and they come in all kinds of sizes and colors.
I also made scrambled eggs, peach and watermelon mimosas, a fresh fruit tray with yellow watermelon, grapes, berries, mandarins, and fresh coffee!
Fresh flowers from my garden!
The lemon berry pancakes were AMAZING! They tasted like a fresh lemon poppy seed muffin.
After breakfast, we headed outside to play bags and run around the backyard with the dogs. It still feels so surreal that this is our new house and the dogs have their own backyard.
Later in the evening, we headed down to the hiking trails in the neighborhood. It’s so awesome because this summer, Becca and I can just throw our tube into the river from the house instead of having to drive and park the car at both ends.
Thanks for stopping by to read today! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and a happy Mother’s Day.
xo!
Questions for you!
- What’s your favorite pancake filling?
- Have you watched 90 day fiance?
- If you had to watch a cooking show, would you rather it be produce & edited clean or more of a “cook with me” style vlog.
I’ll see you in tomorrow’s blog! xo
1. Bananas! My dad used to make banana pancakes with the most incredible local syrup (grew up in WNY) and always served them with a glass of ice cold milk (he always put ice in the glass lol). To this day there’s no better breakfast.
2. I LOVE 90 Day! This season of Before the 90 Days is absolutely bonkers. You should follow fraudedbytlc on IG if you want some insider scoop about the show. They do better investigating than the FBI.
3. I personally prefer the “cook with me” style, but food will get my attention no matter how it’s presented.
P.S. Congrats on your new home! I love seeing the updates and all the beautiful flowers you’re planting. We’re about to move soon, so I’m getting lots of inspiration. Also, the light fixture above your dining table is AMAZING! I absolutely love it. I can’t wait to see more!
You really can’t go wrong with banana pancakes!
♥️
I’m going to watch all the seasons and then go follow them!!
Thank you so much ♥️ Congrats on your move coming up!
Ohhh I am looking forward to the daily posts! Nice to see that you had a fun Mother’s Day.
I wish I could have spent it with my parents as well. <3
Thanks so much, Freshi!!!
I know I’ve commented on wanting those pots before I can’t wait for Homegoods to reopen here in California! Your mother’s day looked like a blast, and I can’t wait for more recipes out of your beautiful kitchen! Also I’m super jealous of that yellow watermelon! It looks delicious along with the pancakes! My go to are banana chocolate chip or pumpkin with cinnamon! I also love making my own syrups, for my brother one year I made him a root-beer flavored one. I love both styles of cooking shows but my two favs to watch are Ina Garten or Molly Yeh from Girl Meets Farm, you’d love her!
Awww thank you, Ashton!!
homemade syrups? Yes, please!
Those are my favorite cooking shows too!!! They’re so relaxing.
Also can I just say I’m loving Kyle’s quarantine beard! my husbands is about as long as that too!
Hahaha! I agree! 😂
I watch 90 day fiancé. The quarantine version has been interesting. I love your Dahlias. Any suggestions for helping them to thrive? They are one of my favorite flowers! We love chocolate chip banana pancakes here 😊
Hi, Stephanie!
I need to watch the quarantine version! 😊
I’ve been watching a ton of YouTube videos on taking care of dahlias! What I’ve learned is that they need a TON of sun, moderate water, and stakes if they seem to heavy on the top!
Can’t go wrong with those pancakes!!
Congrats! Such a fun time. I love 90 day fiancé. My husband and I actually got married after a fiancé visa. We got married two weeks after he arrived.
That is awesome, Danielle!! ♥️ Congrats! xo
Hey Taralynn! So fun, I love the photos and the house looks amazing! Congrats! 🙂
I have kind of a side question – I am moving to NC and have been planning on getting a Goldendoodle as well, but I am worried about puppy mills and price exploitation. Do you have any tips where I should look for one in the area? Did you buy Grumples and Leo?
Hi, Annie!
Grumples came from a farm in Iowa that wasn’t a breeder just an accidental pregnancy with someone’s poodle. There’s a Facebook page for doodle rescue of Carolina and there are a ton of Goldendoodles that are available for rescue from puppy to mature, but you just have to be patient with finding the right fit. Kyle got Leo from a very safe and reputable breeder in Tennessee. I’d spend a lot of time doing the research, but I do know that if we ever get another dog, we’ll go the rescue route ♥️
Aww, seems like you really enjoyed the special day! The weather looks great too! ❤️✨ I haven’t watched 90 Day Fiance, just the clips with No Neck Ed and Rosemarie – hilarious, haha! 😛

Thanks, Charmaine!
OMG those scenes are so painful to watch 😂
What’s your favorite pancake filling? My favorite brunch restaurant has a pancake with butter, bacon bits, and chopped pecans/walnuts. The combo sounds weird but I swear it’s delicious!
Have you watched 90 day fiance? Never! Is it worth it?
If you had to watch a cooking show, would you rather it be produce & edited clean or more of a “cook with me” style vlog. Hmmm I kind of like the cook with me style. My favorite cooking show is Pioneer Woman, which is very produced, but her recipes are easy, she’s so goofy and messes up a lot so it makes me relate to her more than other shows.
ok well that sounds amazing!
lol i didn’t think it was going to be good, but i can’t look away!
Have you watched her shows now that she’s in quarantine? I LOVE how real they are with her kids filming. Her personality just shines through!
I love seeing the pics of your new home and all the pretty flowers too! Also that brunch is GOALS girl!!
XO, Katie | http://www.meshkomoments.com
Thanks, Katie!!!!
How are you, Kyle, and the pups so cute?! You all look so happy! I love that your flowers add a pop of color outside and inside your home! So pretty!
Awwww so sweet!!! ♥️ thank uu!!! xo xo
Hello!
Fun post! The new house is beautiful!
On a different note, were you planning on sharing your experience a while back in Target? No rush at all but a similar thing happened to me in a different store and I am curious to hear from other women about the same subject.
Take care,
Molly
Yes, eventually! ♥️
I can honestly say I’ve never watched 90 Day fiance! lol.
I need to know where your pans are from! They are cute and look like they’re ceramic? I’m on the hunt for something new!
For cooking shows I would love more of a cook with me style!
I hadn’t either until a few days ago! lol
I got them from Home Goods! They have a bunch there 😊
Love the new house and especially love the peach and watermelon mimosas!
Pancake Filling: I never cared for pancakes. Too sweet for me.
I have not watched 90 day finance.
I would not care about editing of the show. I want cooking shows that are more about education and teaching recipes/techniques/ingredients. I can’t stand shows that are food entertainment/games.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much!
I definitely understand that for sure.
Hey Taralynn,
the new house is so wonderful and so are the four of you! 😀
I’ve been following your blog for years now and I’m always happy to see new posts.
Greetings from Fabienne & the two Golden Retriever boys from Germany
PS: No US TV here, but I like banana/blueberry pancakes. 😉
Awww, thank you so much, Fabienne!!
Blueberry is my favorite too!
Congrats on your new home! ❤️❤️
Thank you!
Yellow watermelon? How have I never heard of this. Great recap, my favourite pancake is blueberry, they are just so good. Have a great week
I have to agree with you! blueberries for the win 😋
Your breakfast looks so good! Wow great job. Blueberries are my fav for pancake filling, bananas close second. I don’t watch that show but will check it out. I like cook along food shows.
Thanks, Casey 😊
