It’s been a week since my best friend said: “I do.” All of 2019, Becca and I spent our weekend’s planning, shopping for wedding decor, and making sure every detail of her special day was planned. All of it paid off because it was one of the most magical weekends ever. I’m so happy everything came together perfectly, and I’m excited to show you the photos I took from the weekend. You all love Becca as much as I do, so I made sure to capture as much as I could 😊
It was the perfect fall weekend in the mountains and the perfect excuse to cozy up by the fire, drink coffee, and spend time with each other.
The night before Becca’s wedding weekend, I spent some time making my favorite chocolate oreo truffles, and working on the cookie cake! Remember when we made the cookie cake last time? Well, since then, I had perfected the recipe and was confident that it would turn out for her big day.
On Thursday afternoon, I picked up a green smoothie for the road and headed off to the North Carolina mountains. My smoothie had spirulina, kale, celery, cucumber, lemon, ginger, lime, spinach, hemp protein, and coconut milk. Did it taste good? Goodness, no! But I chugged it down because I needed all the greens I could get.
It was a rainy ride up there, but it made for the gorgeous fall views. It’s crazy how two and a half hours north of Charlotte becomes an entirely different climate.
I was the first one to arrive at the Pines Country Inn, so I checked in and unpacked all of my bags. The innkeeper was so sweet and made me a cup of coffee to enjoy while sitting on the front porch overlooking the fall views.
My room in the inn was cute and cozy. It had a gorgeous view, and it was the perfect place to unwind.
One of my favorite parts about the inn was the cats. I love cats so much, but I can’t have one because of my dogs. They are not cat-friendly.
So cozy ♥️
Becca arrived thirty-minutes after me, and I helped her unload a few things, and then we jumped right into the party! It was so fun getting to meet her family, and it was one of the most fun nights! 💜 Once the evening rain stopped, this gorgeous double rainbow appeared. How incredible is that!? Talk about good luck before a wedding day 😊
We enjoyed wine while having a delicious dinner and playing Heads Up with all the guests.
While we were all sitting in the family room, the lights went out for about a minute. It was so creepy because the house was pitch black and it was Halloween night! But with everyone giggled up on wine, the moment was hilarious. Oreo truffles for a Halloween treat! I’m telling you, these are always a hit and so easy to make! If you ever have a party to go to, try making the oreo truffles. You can’t go wrong. I added a caramel drizzle to the top of these.
Becca’s last night as a Robinson!
Friday, November 1st – Wedding Day ♥️
Even though I was super tired from all of the traveling the previous weekend, I could not sleep at all. When you’re in an older house, you hear every little noise, and I’m a very light sleeper. I had a total of 2 hours of sleep (which were more of 30-minute increments), and then received a text at 3:25 from Becca asking if I was up. I’m not surprised because if you wanted your Miami vlog, you’d see that she wakes up earlier than I do! I was like “YUP,” and the next thing I knew, she was knocking on my door with a cup of coffee.
We spent an hour together finishing up some letters and just chatting about the game plan for the day. Honestly, this was the best way to spend a morning on her big day.
At 6:00 am, I whipped out my mixer and started making the frosting for the cookie cake. I spent an hour putting it all together, and I’m so happy with how it turned out.
This was exactly the vision Becca wanted, and I was so happy I could bring it to life!
After finishing up the cookie cake, everyone came down for a delicious breakfast!
After breakfast, I spent the next three hours working on transforming the dining room for the reception dinner. There was a lot to do before the vision could come to life, but I love this kind of stuff!
The ceremony turned out PERFECT!!!!
She is the most beautiful bride, and I cried like a baby during the ceremony. I’m so happy for my best friend, and I love love love her fiance and his family.
Talk about a big transformation! The room did not look the same, and all the decor planning and shopping paid off. It was the dark romantic room she had dreamed of.
And the texture of the cookie cake also turned out perfectly. I made sure to make the dough super soft to make it more cake-like!
What a dream! ♥️
We all changed into warmer clothes and prepared ourselves for the temperature drop before heading down to the fire. We ended the night hanging around the bonfire and enjoying every last minute of the weekend. I did not want it to end!
It was winter the next morning! Burr ❄️
I headed out after morning coffee and spent the afternoon packing for my trip to Hawaii (which is where I’m at now!) Sorry I didn’t write much today, but I really wanted you to see the photos. If you watch the vlog, it’s way more descriptive! xo
Thank you guys for stopping by to check out the photos from Becca’s wedding weekend! ♥️ I’ll make sure to share more pictures once she gets them in from her photographer! Have an amazing weekend!

I love that orange cat! Also, thank you so much for having linked the oreo truffles, they look so good and I feel like my husband would love them!!
The last wedding that we went to was my husband’s brother’s and his now-wife’s after-party, really. They’d gotten married the weekend before Thanksgiving with just their parents present, so it was neat to meet some of my now-sister-in-law’s family and friends, since we all live so far apart.
My *dream* wedding would be probably at Shenandoah National Park in the mountains and we would have hiked out to a spot in front of a waterfall to actually get married, but we have so much older family we wanted to include that we just couldn’t, but it didn’t matter where we got married. I just got to marry my best friend. 🙂
We actually didn’t have wedding cake at our wedding; we opted to go with a local doughnut place that was familiar with doing events. Between the doughnuts and the candy buffet we had at the reception, it was definitely a hit!
…BUT i’m a sucker for almond amaretto flavored cake. There’s a place in Raleigh that’s incredible, but them driving a cake 3 hours away from them at the time would have been crrraaazy expensive, LOL.
Taralynn McNitt says
Those truffles are THE BEST! Let me know what your husband thinks!
Donuts are always a good idea! 😃 & I agree that anything almond amaretto is amazing!

What an awesome friend you are! Everything looks beautifully spooky. Our wedding cake was coconut cream with vanilla icing ( no colored filling to get on the dress!!) with some flowers on top… simple!
Taralynn McNitt says
COCONUT CREAM? YES, PLEASE!!

What an absolutely BEAUTIFUL WEDDING! I just moved from California from new England and I desperately miss the autumn weather. THE cold and and the cold crisp weather snd the crunch of the leaves. Loved the vlog. Missed Kyle at the wedding- was he working?
Taralynn McNitt says
It really was 😊
I have been in Hawaii for four days and already miss the fall weather!
Becca’s wedding was on a Friday and Kyle was traveling for work that day and there was no way to get out of it.
Laura says
Does Kyle not get any PTO? Seems like he misses a lot of events… I mean it’s your best friend’s wedding that you played a big part in!
Taralynn McNitt says
I think Kyle’s job is non of your concern.

November 1st is my anniversary; 11 years this year :-). Becca’s wedding looked lovely. Chocolate cake is the best especially with a raspberry filling. Last wedding I went to was a wedding weekend in August, it was the last of our college friends to get married.
Taralynn McNitt says
Happy anniversary! 😃

Love this!! Last wedding I went to was this past fall for my husbands ex girlfriend who I’ve learned to love dearly 😂
My dream wedding was mine I got married where my grandparents met in my hometown in VT which also is next door to Norman Rockwell’s art studio. It was 180 of my favorite people in a wet field dancing on grass drinking all the gin and beer and dancing to really random songs that people danced all night too! Our wedding was book themed and we wrote each guess a card of why they are invited and mattered to us. It was simple but so fun!
It wasn’t what I dreamed originally but was perfect. As for cake we had chocolate with raspberry jam filling 🤗
Your friends wedding looked so beautiful! Thanks for sharing! ( also congrats on the engagement and house! Loving your content as always ❤️)
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Ali!! ♥️
That sounds like the perfect and most special wedding! 💜
chocolate and raspberry? sign me up right now!

The last wedding I went to was my own. It was truly a magical day. We got married on a flower farm and we bought 8 different cakes from the grocery store. They were delicious. My favorite was the red velvet but we also had carrot cake, double fudge, choc. With raspberry etc.
Thank you for sharing these lovely photos. All the best your best friend and her spouse as they enter this next phase of her life
Taralynn McNitt says
That sounds amazing!!!

I’ve kinda “aged out” of weddings and can’t remember the last one I attended, but will soon be going to my first Greek wedding. Can’t wait to see how it differs from others. My favorite wedding cake ever was bananas foster flavor. Looking forward to your wedding coverage!

The last wedding I attended was my boyfriends’ cousin’s wedding last October and it was beautiful! It was outdoors and there was a gorgeous old colonial home that we had the cocktail reception in. I’m still trying to figure out what I want my dream wedding to be! We aren’t engaged yet, but lately I’ve been catching myself thinking of ideas like location, my dress, etc. lol! That’s normal right?! 🙂 I think I want to at least have some sort of outdoor element and I’m leaning towards the fall. That’s about all I know right now, but I do know that being surrounded by our family and friends is what matters to me the most! Do you think you’ll get married somewhere in NC, or are you thinking a destination wedding?! xo Kelsey
Taralynn McNitt says
Sounds amazing!! & totally normal for you to think that way!
We are still working out all the details 😊

My dream wedding… on the beach. I’m from Australia haha
Favorite Cake? It would have to be a fabulous sugar free chocolate one… or lemon
I am soooo looking forward to your wedding; you and Kyle are the cutest couple 🙂 You are the best planner and organizer x

Oh my gosh all of your photos just scream fall cozy vibes <3 I am so in love with these photos!! Her wedding turned out so so beautiful, you guys did amazing! Also, Becca looks gorgeous! AHHH so happy for you both 🙂 Is she going on a honeymoon?
As for weddings I have been to, the last one I attended was my fiance's brother's! It was the day after we had just moved to Portland haha. I was so so exhausted AND made the mistake of taking a benedryl because it was an outdoor wedding and my allergies were out of control… let's just say that benedryl after having a glass of wine was not a smart move. I spent the rest of the wedding struggling to stay awake. Thankfully I didn't fall asleep but oh wow was I close! Lesson learned!
As for dream weddings, I would love anything with string lights and plants everywhere. My wedding will be a barn wedding, so hopefully it turns out as beautifully as Becca's did!
Hope you are enjoying Hawaii! Take in all the sunshine for me! It's all gloomy here in Portland 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Brittany!
They are going on their honeymoon next year! They are waiting for one of their favorite places to be built.
OMG no good 😂 but I bet you slept great that night.
I’m sure your wedding is going to be gorgeous!!
Brittany says
Oh how fun!! I am sure they are so excited! 🙂
And oooooh yeah. I meant to take a quick nap when we got back from the wedding and ended up waking up the next morning 😂
Cassie Dennis says
My best friend got married on the same day! I was the maid of honor and it was absolutely dreamy. ☺️ they had gluten free cupcakes instead of a cake, as the running joke is that “they met on celiacsingles.com”
Taralynn McNitt says
😂 that’s amazing!!
Natalija says
Absolutely loved this blog and all the photos! You did such an amazing job with the cake! It looked absolutely gorgeous and it’s such an original and creative idea. Awwwwwww that is so so sweet, Natalija!!!!!
