Diy Pom Pom Flats – Add a Pop of Color to Your Style
In less than 24 hours, I will be on a plane heading to California for a trip that’s been on my bucket list since I was a kid. I finished packing about an hour ago (only took me two weeks), and I thought I’d share a very special pair of sandals that made the cut. I didn’t know I’d get as many DM’s about these pom sandals, but everyone wanted to know where I got them from. There’s nothing more satisfying than replying “DIY, baby!” I promised a blog post tutorial for those messaging me, so here it is. These sandals cost me about $20 to make. Since pom shoes are in-style right now, they are costly at most stores! That is what inspired me to experiment and play around with my own sandal project. I know that these pom shoes are not for everyone, but I love adding an extra pop of color to my style! And doing it the inexpensive way makes it even better.
You can get creative and make your version of these, but I wanted to share what materials I used to make these fun sandals.
Multi-Color Pom Pom Trim – I found these at Hobby Lobby in the sewing section. I found some other pom trip I loved that I’m going to add to my throw pillows (but more on that later!) If you do not have a Hobby Lobby near you, you can buy white rope-style ribbon, colorful yarn, and poms in the craft section.
Multi-Color Rhinestones – As if the poms weren’t extra enough, let’s add in some more sparkles! You can find these pretty much anywhere, just make sure to get the ones with a flat back.
Extras: Hot glue gun, glue sticks, & fabric scissors. This project is easier than you think! It took me about 20-minutes to craft these together.
When the hot glue gun is nice and hot, I cut strips of the trim and glued them onto the straps of the sandal. Once the trim was glued on, I glued the pom to the trim. I repeated this four times but made sure to make the poms symmetric and not all over the place. Inbetween the poms, I added a colorful rhinestone.
If the poms didn’t match up, I cut the strings and moved them over.
Give your sandals a good hour to dry completely before wearing! Since the first night of our trip is taco night, you bet I’ll be wearing these with a fun, bright dress! 😊
It’s fun to be unique, to be bold, and always acceptable to be extra! 😊 I can’t wait to share more photos of these sandals when I’m on my trip! Thanks for stopping by to read. I hope you’re ready for a homemade ice cream recipe next! 🍦 💜
