Hey Everyone!
I’m so excited to start a fitness challenge for July. I want to spend this month focussing on a healthy mind, body, and soul. We all have different goals, so make this month about reaching YOUR goals. Hopefully this challenge can give you the support to reach them! I have created an Instagram account that you can follow during this challenge. I will be sharing your posts, lots of motivation and all of my updates from the July Fitness Challenge! Don’t forget to tag me in all of your updates. #JULYFITCHAL
Write down all of your goals for the month!
Here are some of mine…
- I want to drink MORE water.
- I want to start meal prepping.
- I want to eat MORE protein.
- I want to stretch everyday.
- I want to cut out mindless snacking.
- I don’t want to eat past 7pm. (that’s when I mindless snack)
I’d love to improve my running, stretches, strength training and toning!
Having a healthy lifestyle starts in the kitchen. In order to be energized and fueled up for the workouts, I need to eat right! Everyone has different diets, and I advise you to eat what makes you feel the best. Here is what I bought and will be eating most of the time.
Most of the time? I live a pretty go-go-go lifestyle, so I know there will be times when I’m out and about and will have to make healthy choices at restaurants. I also plan on making healthy desserts and fun meals.
My Grocery List:
Hard boiled eggs, egg white omelets, grilled vegetables (butternut squash, zucchini, onion, bell pepper, sumer squash), broccoli, cottage cheese, plain Greek yogurt, coffee, tea, lemon, ground turkey, grilled chicken, water, almond milk, oatmeal, vanilla protein powder, strawberries, blueberries, brown rice, quinoa, grapes, almond butter, celery, cucumber, tomatoes, balsamic dressing, black berries, peaches, bananas, spinach, romaine lettuce, tofu, almonds, walnuts, avocados, kale, sunflower seeds, air popped popcorn, 70 % + dark chocolate, coconut water.

Once the challenge is over, I will do a follow up post on how I feel after the month! I’d love for you to keep track of your progress for sharing! I’ll be adding fun videos and inspiration to the Instagram as the challenge goes on! I cannot wait until Friday!
QUESTIONS FOR YOU!
- Will you be doing this challenge with a friend?
- Why are you doing this fitness challenge?
- How will you stay motivated?
Can’t wait to give this a try! I’ll be heading to the beach for a week of July also and many of these will be perfect to keep me motivated and active on vacation. Thanks for putting this all together!
I can’t wait to see all of your posts and have you join me on this challenge! xo
Love to participate in this challenge, and your abs are AMAZING. Did you randomly design this workout yourself around what works best for your schedule, or strategically to incorporate a little bit of all exercises?
Hey Linda!
I made this workout based off of what I typically do! :)& thank you!
xo
Awesome, I cannot wait to start this challenge!
* I will probably be doing this challenge on my own – or maybe I can convince my hubby to join in!
* I’ve been slacking on my fitness, and I really feel better when I have my health as a top priority. I want to be the best person I can be, physically, mentally and emotionally.
* I think your challenge will help keep me motivated! It helps me stay focused and motivated when I’m being held accountable to do something.
Thanks for starting this challenge!! 🙂
So happy you’ll be joining me!
At least get him involved with the outdoor and fun workouts!
That is such a great reason to do this!
Can’t wait to see your progress!
xo
I love how organized and detailed it is! It will be challenging but I am ready.
I am getting ready to move to a new house and it is a twenty minute walk from her new house to mine so that is something that will keep me motivated.
I will probably be doing the challenge by myself but will have a friend join me for some walks or work outs!
I doing this challenge because since I had my second baby I gained a lot of weight and have been trying to loose weight all the wrong ways. This will help me kick start healthy life style. I feel like I am starting a new chapter in life in July with a new house, a fresh start and this challenge!
Thank you Jennifer!
It’ll be super fun and I love a good challenge!
It’s fun to do some of the workouts with friends! 🙂
Congrats on the second baby! 🙂 I’m excited to see what this challenge brings you!
The challenge looks great, I am really looking forward to it! Also it comes perfectly timed: Tomorrow I’ll travel home after some crazy weeks. I injured my ankle and wasnt allowed to do sports for a while, I had to take my last college exams and papers, I moved my stuff back to my parents place for summer, spent a weekend at a music festival with incredibly bad weather and now I am at the sea to hang out with my parents for a few days.
I am so looking forward to getting back a normal schedule after all the crazyness and I feel excited to exercise again. This challenge will be a blast, I am sure.
I’m looking forward to it as well!
Hope you are back to health 100% and make sure you take it easy on that ankle! ICE ICE ICE!
XO
i’m so excited! I added everything onto my calendar! 🙂
Great! Can’t wait.
WOOOO!
I asked a friend to join me on the Fridays/days that you do something fun/outside!
a) I need to kick my butt back into shape
b) I need to lose a few lbs
c) I have the opportunity to follow along with one of my inspirations and so that’s what I’m going to do!
I’m going to follow the new instagram account and find motivation from your blog! I also hope I can see results which will also help keep me motivated!
PERFECT!!!
1. I have no doubt you’ll be able to do that!
2. Don’t worry about those lbs! focus on the beautiful muscle!
3. 🙂 xo
can’t wait to see your progress!!
YES!! I love this. Totally need a kick in the bum to get back into fitness!!
My reason is for me. Instead of having a minor panic attack about turning 30 (August) I’m going to strut right into my 30’s looking my best! Anything is doable for 30 days, right? 😉 Here We go!
Xoxo
That’s the spirit! Thirty, flirty and thriving! (13 going on 30 ref)
30 is the new 20 anyways!
xo
I’m so excited for July to start now! Thanks for putting it together for all of us. I love these kinds of challenges – they totally keep me motivated to work out! How did you come up with the schedule? Is this kind of how you just live your life on a daily basis?
You’re welcome! So excited to for July too!
I just based the schedule on my own workouts/lifestyle that I currently follow.
So exciting! I love challenges. Thank you for putting all of this together. I just recently hired a nutritionist after learning of some food allergies I never knew I had. So food prepping will be a breeze. And seeing others doing the work will help me stay motivated.
You’re welcome!:)
I’d love to see your food preps!
xo
So fun! What a great thing you put together!
I also want to let you know I started my own blog after you responded to my last comment 🙂 Would love to hear your thoughts: http://www.savvythoughts.com
PS- you look so healthy and happy!!!
Thanks Savannah!
CAN’T WAIT to check out that blog of yourS!!!
& thank you again!
WOW THAT BLOG LOOKS AMAZING and those raw cookie bites look delicious. I’ll have to try those out on this challenge! Would love to share your blog on the insta!
You don’t know how much that means to me! 🙂 Been reading your blog forEVER (way back to the tumblr days hehe). Would LOVE LOVE if you shared my blog on your insta!
& The cookie dough bites are AMAZINNG (but note it’s not my recipe, if you look at the bottom i got it from another blogger!)
This came at the perfect time! I’ve really been needing some motivation lately! Can’t wait!
Excited for you to participate!
Beyond excited!!! Can’t wait to start!!I need this very bad, been feeling really bad/down about the way I look… I hope this helps me be more active and healthier on my eating. Thank You Tara for this challenge!!!
Im so excited too! Never feel bad or down about the way you look! It’s not about the outside!:) I hope this gets you/me to be more active too! 🙂 xo
So fun! Thanks for putting this together!
No problem. So excited for JULY!
Awesome I can’t wait to try this out!
I love fitness challenges because they motivate me so much 🙂
http://www.justbeingbrooklyn.com
Can’t wait to do this with you!
Hello! I won’t be doing this with a friend but that’s okay! I’m doing this challenge because I have a month off of nursing school and I haven’t been able to run much while in school so it’s just perfect timing! I will stay motivated by my progress and others progress. I can’t wait to start xox
So excited for you to participate! Can’t wait to start either!
This is exactly what I need to stay motivated this summer!
1. I’m hoping I can get one of my friends to join, but most likely alone.
2. I am a teacher and I am off and have too much time on my hands. June has been super fun but I need a plan for July to keep my eating and fitness in check.
3. I’m trying to find a reward (that is not food related) to help me keep focused. Any ideas? Also I have a friend’s wedding to go to in August that I’d like to tone up for.
So excited! Let’s do this!
Maybe you can include them in on some of the workouts!
This will be a great summer fitness plan for you while you’re on break!
The wedding is a great reward. Maybe go buy a dress you’re dying to get into! Hang it up for motivation.
xo
Love this idea! I hope you continue this month after month! 🙂
Will you be doing this challenge with a friend?
I think I am going to do this solo! I feel like I need to do for myself and will try to keep myself accountable! If anyone else is doing this solo, I wouldn’t mind keeping in touch to make sure we stay on track! 🙂
Why are you doing this fitness challenge?
I turned 25 years old on the 27th and feel like I want to start this year on a good note! I have been that girl who always says ‘tomorrow I will start!’. I’ve known for a while I want to get to a happier place with myself and how I feel about my body- this feels like what I need! I think this is a great plan to follow and one that can included in a busy nurses schedule! 😛
How will you stay motivated?
I love the idea of writing your goals down on paper. Going back and reminding myself why I want to do this for me will keep me motivated! I just adopted a rescue dog so that will keep me moving and always on the go!
Excited to get started! 🙂
Thanks for doing this Taralynn!
If it’s a success, I certainly will!
Love that you’re riding solo on this and totally confident in yourself !
”TOMORROW I WILL START” is the worst thing you can say. It’s all about RIGHT NOW. Maybe you can get some of your nurses in on the squats!
PAPER is everything and I love keeping it old fashioned with my notebook and pen. You can use the relaxing walks for you and your pup! Thank you for rescuing.
xo
I definitely will have to add in a ton of modifications, but I appreciate the challenge because it helps me stay motivated to see posts about fitness and the challenge.
I will mostly be walking/biking. I wish I had a place to swim because that’s my favorite.
I hope to lose about 20 pounds this month.
I can’t wait to see you kill this Kristin! Maybe we can do a couple of the workouts together with Becca at Freedom park? I’ll FB you!
xo
1) I think I’ll see if I can get my boyfriend to do some of it with me, but otherwise I’ll do it on my own.
2) I’ve never tried a challenge before, now is the perfect time to give it a go! I’ve mentioned before that I want to get more fit and lose weight, so I hope this will help me reach my weight loss goals.
3) Weight loss will make me feel better. My birthday is at the end of summer and I want to look fierce when I go out! Also, I’m maid of honor at my BFF’s wedding in December and I want to look good in my dress.
Make him do some of the fun activities with you! 🙂 They can be fitness dates.
Keep your goals in front of you and keep motivating yourself to get there!
Those are great goals and events to stay motivated for. I know you want to lose weight, but I’m sure you’re still FIERCE right now. 😉
xo
I am doing this fitness challenge by myself, so far! I want my friend Katy to join so I sent her a link! I am doing this fitness challenge because I want to hold myself accountable for my health for a full 31 days!! A true commitment! My motivation will be everyone else in this challenge keeping me going with their daily triumphs!
Lets hope she joins on some of the workouts! Always fun:)
I can’t wait to see all of you guys kill this challenge!!
Hey Taralynn thanks a lottt for this amazing challenge. I’m super stoked and the timing could not have been better! I hope you do this every month.
1) unfortunately I would be doing this alone
2) I’ve put on a lot of weight, I wanna lose some weight and I always felt working out helped me control my appetite
3) I got a red dress I plan to fit into in November 🙂
Have a great day!!
No problem and if this one is a success, I may have to put one together every month or so! I may even have Kyle write one.
Doing it alone is alright alright alright! Stay focused on YOU!
This is all about feeling healthy and fit. I have no doubt you’ll be able to do this and feel great about yourself!
I want to help you get into that red dress!
xo
What I love most about this is that it’s totally doable anywhere and not confined in a gym!! I was so excited when you posted about a challenge and read through your whole 30 day routine twice, I’m that pumped 🙂
I will probably be doing this by myself but I workout better on my own.
My dad passed away 4 weeks ago and this is the perfect laid back and easy going fitness routine that I need to push foreword. I will be going to the beach for the 1st 2 weeks of July but plan to do these workouts while I’m there.
This is perfect, Taralynn, thanks so much for putting it together and sharing!! I can’t wait to get started. ☺️????
Yes and that is what i wanted! I love that you’re excited as I am!
I’m so sorry to hear about your father! You sound like a very strong and outgoing person, I’m sure your pops is watching over you with a proud smile! xo
I’ll be doing some of these workouts while I’m out of town as well.
XO
Why would anyone complete a fitness challenge with a fat blogger?
Well isn’t the point of doing a fitness challenge getting in shape? Guess I’ll have to go extra hard!
I am so excited about this challenge! Can’t wait until tomorrow to get started! Im even going to start a new instagram page so I don’t annoy the heck out of people on my blogging page with all my sweaty pics 😛 I am also staring my next Whole30 on Tuesday so this is perfect! Gonna be super fit!
Woo Hoo! I did the same. I’m going to be posting a ton on the new one and I can’t wait to see/share your posts! Posting and keeping track is so helpful. My mom is on day 10 of the Whole30 and loves it!
xo
Thats awesome! Day 10 is the hardest! Did I mention this is my 6th Whole30? :O btw my new instagram is @tonedkitchen so expect to see my beet red face later after my run/walk plus all those sit ups and burpees!
Love your new insta! my mom has lost 12 lbs so far! 🙂
and I’m so proud of you! xo
Thanks so much for this challenge! I think this will be super helpful for me! I’ve been stuck at a plateau for a few weeks now- hopefully this will help me break through! 🙂 Thanks so much for putting this together! I can tell you put a lot of thought into it- I appreciate it! 🙂
Plateaus are NO FUN! make sure you keep your progress more about how your clothes fit and measurements! Sometimes it’s not a plateau, it’s just muscle 😉
& YOURE WELCOME! Excited for you to join.
Will you be doing this challenge with a friend?
-I am going to be doing this workout with my husband!
Why are you doing this fitness challenge?
-We had just recently said we need to take our workouts more serious! No more running Monday, and doing nothing for the rest of the week. You know what I mean? We need to workout daily! and get it going already to feel REAL progress. I love what you’ve created because it’s not gender specific, so we can BOTH do it together! & Having something to follow takes out the annoying guess work of “will this even amount to anything?” Sometimes I wonder if doing a circuit workout we made up is not enough focus per muscle to see a change.. but clearly you know what you’re doing! So I’m thrilled to follow along!
How will you stay motivated?
-Becoming a new mom is extremely motivating, I never want to lose my athleticism or shape. Children look up to their parents healthy habits. So our little 3 month baby is extremely motivating. && Just knowing that my husband and I are in our early 20s we just know we have no excuse, and if we don’t get it together now, years from now we’ll be so far gone we’ll be regretful.
All of that, and seeing your posts and your transformation and continued perseverance is motivating 🙂 Thank you!
WOOOHOOO for the husband support! Love that.
If you keep up the circuits consistently, you’ll DEFINITELY see change. Make sure to eat protein and a clean diet for better progress. That has been my huge thing. You and your husband sound motivated and I love it. I can’t wait to see you guys do this.
Congrats on becoming a mom (and congrats to your husband on becoming a dad) I love your outlook on parenthood and health. That is inspiring! I don’t plan on having kids for at least 9 more years, but I’ll be taking that train of advice with me.
xo xo
Love this!
Something that I feel like you’d really enjoy, and one of my fav things to do is make a fun upbeat playlist on my ipod that lasts about 45 mins and put my headphones in.
For each song, i do a different workout.
ex: abs for one songs, lunges for a song, squats for a song, etc. And switch it up and try to workout to the beat. Super fun and the time goes by so fast!!
YES! I love doing that too. I actually made a new playlist for today’s run! I’d love for you to share one with the fitness challenge!
That is such a fun idea.
I really needed something like this to push me that extra bit! I’m excited!
I’m excited too Karli!
1.Will you be doing this challenge with a friend?
I work all the time so I don’t really have a chance to hang out with any friends 🙁
2.Why are you doing this fitness challenge?
Well I am doing this challange because I have let myself go long enough my cruise is coming up in September and my bottoms of my bathing suit dont fit so I have got to get into shape and hopefully they will fit by september 🙁
3.How will you stay motivated?
Music and quotes and following your blog and instgram and other peoples blogs and instgrams I will take photos the last time I lost weight that helped sooo much.
I would love to eat dinner before 7pm as well like you said but my job I don’t get off until 6:15pm do you have any ideas of how I can not eat so late 🙁 or do you think eating a little at 7 will be okay?
HI Kelsey!
Keep up a positive attitude and I’m sure you’ll be getting into those cruise suits soon! You’re going to have such a fun trip.
Those are great for motivation. I love music too! Is it weird that I listen to Kanye’s workout plan on every run!?
Have you thought about meal prepping and bringing your dinner’s into work!?
I also think eating after seven is fine! I just tend to much after 7, so not great for me!
xo
Hi Taralynn,
I’m excited that you have put this together. Thanks!
I will be doing alone, which is one reason I’m happy you did this. Gives me that extra boost I need. It won’t feel so much like I’m doing it alone.
I’m doing this to give myself a boost in the fitness area of my life. I have managed to clean up my diet a good bit and feeling good, however, other than walking I don’t do much else. I want to challenge myself to do more and get in better physical shape.
I’ll be following the blog and instagram account for motivation to keep going. Also knowing that I’ll be getting married and going on a honeymoon in the Spring will motivate me as well!
You’re welcome! Excited for you to join!
I love the idea of bringing people together to do this!
Diet is a hard one to conquer, so you have that part down! 🙂 I’m sure this challenge will be fun and easy for you!
Congrats on the engagement! xo
I’d love to hear more about your stretches. What do you do? I don’t know enough stretches to keep me going to 10-15 minutes!
I will make a video for the challenge!
IS IT FRIDAY YET?
ALMOST!
This is awesome. Because my schedule is super crazy this month I know it won’t be feasible for me to get in a workout every single day. BUT I think I am going to start at the beginning and do it every and any day that I can – even if I can’t work out two days in a row, just pick up where I left off and do the best I can. I really love to be motivated and have something to go off of. Maybe I’ll get my husband to join me 🙂 Unlikely because he hates working out. LOL
Also, thank you for encouraging people to go at their OWN pace instead of trying to do exactly what you do. My biggest fitness/health/weight loss pet peeve is people assuming that everyone is the same and is at the same level. Everyone is different and what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for the next person. So thanks for being a great motivation and inspiration!
That is awesome! Do as much as you can and cut workouts in half if you have to!:) You can make it a checkoff list and replace easy days with harder ones when you don’t have time! No one is on the same fitness level and it would be IMPOSSIBLE for me to have done this workout at one point. You have to start slow otherwise you’ll injure yourself or get disinterested. I definitely agree that we are all different and what works for one person may not work for the next! DO YOU 😉
XO XO
OMG… How awesome! I need a weight loss Buddy for this… Hahhahaaa!!! Preferably via WhatsApp as its easy. I’m 31, from Austria/Europe, Mommy of two Girls, Make-up Artist, Photographer, Sushi Lover, I eat to much crap and want to get back in shape! Shoot me a msg if u are interested – of maybe we can also open a WHATSAPP WEIGHT LOOSE BUDDY GROUP!! :D!!
Can’t wait!
Me either!
What kind of protein powder do you use?

I am so excited you are doing this!! You have been such an inspiration to me for years. I can’t wait to start tomorrow 🙂
I can’t wait either!:)
I am so excited!! I’ve been following your journey since your tumblr ? I love love love you! Thank your for the motivation and for taking the time to create this amazing blog post, it’s just what I needed! What are some of your favorite stretches? I tend to get awful shin splints, and really tight calves after a run, any suggestions?
I’m in..I have wanted to do a challenge but have backed out. I need to be held accountable.
My goal is to lose this weight I have put on..sadly I am at my heaviest at 170.4 and my goal weight is 135 even.
I can’t wait to start…good night..let the challenge begin!
I can’t wait till tomorrow. This is my first fitness challenge and I can’t wait to do it. I Follow ur blog and I love it. You inspire me to me more healthy and try to work in more fitness. I have always had problems with my weight and sticking with a diet. But ever since I came across your blog I have been doing better. Thank you so much for sharing your story, and all your fitness Guru :)… Tomorrow is going to be great! Thanks again and good luck to us all..
I am eight months pregnant and have a typical workout schedule for every day of the week, but I LOVE having options and a plan all written out for me, I’ll definitely be doing what I can (I may modify some things) each day!
Thanks Taralynn!
Congrats on the baby! Please take it easy 🙂 XO
Thanks so much! We will 😉 Thanks for putting this together!
Hi Tara! I’m excited to try this.
Trying to recruit a friend or two!
I want to challenge myself to see what it feels like mentally and physically to work out consistently
I’m following the Instagram and hoping my friend will help me motivated also! The end goal is my main motivation as well
Hey Amanda!
I can’t wait to follow your progress! I know you can do this!
xo
This workout challenge looks awesome. Do you have a file I can download so i can print out this challenge.
Hey Lily! I will work on uploading a pdf!
Awesome idea, Taralynn! I already have some regular fitness routines/YouTube videos I use, so my exact day-to-day program will be different than what is listed in your challenge, but I still want to use July to really ramp up my fitness level and to challenge myself! I’ll try to post on Insta what my program is looking like. 🙂
1)No, I’ll probably be doing this challenge by myself, but I will do some of the activities with my dog (he runs with me) and my hubby (who is trying to get in better shape, too).
2) I’m doing this fitness challenge because I want to better my health, improve my running distance and time, feel more confident about my body, discover what my body is truly capable of, and overall tackle a new challenge.
3) Seeing my running and general physical abilities improve always motivates me. My dog motivates me to run because he’s so high energy that running is one of the only ways to get his energy out! Also, I simply enjoy fitness and healthy eating and I know I always feel my best when I’m exercising and eating well. God blessed me with a body capable of amazing things — running makes me so thankful for my body and eager to take good care of it!
I my 14 daughter and I (instead of waiting until January) just started a program with a trainer and meal plan this week! We are going to get on that before and after board…..turns out you aren’t really aren’t hungry and don’t crave sweets when you eat a lot of protein……thanks for the inspiration Taralynn…we’ll keep you posted of our progress!
Nice job. It’s the perfect time to train and eat healthy! Love the summer for getting on track. Protein is GREAT for that! xo
I started the challenge today! I’ve lost 57.6 pounds since November 18th, 2015 and have been looking at interesting ways to stay active, so this challenge is perfect!
Wow that is so awesome! Great job Faith!!
Hi, thank you for putting so much work into designing this challenge and encouraging others to join in and build a little community around it. Having a plan and support in place is really motivating 🙂
Two questions, though – there are no rest days involved? I’m not sure how healthy that is – can you add in to your plan listed a few specific days for (optional) rest? Second – a lot of these days involve, frankly, a big time commitment. Its fine if you are on summer break or something, but I’m one of your readers that has a plain old really busy life and really have to be strategic and picky about getting my exercise in. I know it would be way too much work to ask you to actually ask you to supply an alternate plan for folks with jobs/family/obligations/commitments, but…. maybe you could just write a post addressing how the busy among us could handle the challenge? Or provide suggestions for alternative plans? Or design a couple of days of more efficient plans that readers can just sub in to the days where they don’t have time for the original plan? Even just 3 or 4 alternates, so readers can look and choose one that fits their day and still feel they are completing the challenge? It would be better than skipping a day, or feeling crappy for not completing the whole plan on some days. Just some ideas! I really want to join in, but already on day one, I had to work a double shift (on top of my personal life commitments!) and simply didn’t have the time to do your whole list 🙁 I need a list of acceptable substitutions I can go to when I don’t have time for that days plan!! 😀
Hi Liz
No problem. I think the challenge has been so much fun and I love it.
You should definitely rest the body. Walking and stretching are considered “rest days” and are great for loosening up tight muscles.
I also mentioned that the challenge should be fun and you can change it up anyway you’d like! If you are too busy or do not have time, no worries! You don’t have to do it at all. You can sub any days you want. If you can fit in fifteen minutes of strength training or a thirty minute walk, that is better than nothing! Just do what works for you.
Hey Taralynn,
When you say evening/morning walk do you mean either or, or both?
Thanks!
Either! I know that schedules can get really busy, so a walk anytime of the day! Whenever you can fit it in.
I’m recovering from a torn knee. Do you have any workout suggestions which are focussed more on the upper body, or any recommendations for working with knee limitations?
Hi Lorissa!
I’m not a professional so I’d be careful and talk with your doctor. If I were in your position, I’d focus on just doing arm weights, sits ups and anything LIGHT on your knee. I’m not sure how much pain you’re in or how much/little you can move your knee! Just listen to your body.
Do an August challenge!!! I NEED to get motivated and I slacked on this challenge 🙁 if you don’t, I’m doing this challenge in August!!!
will do!
Hi Taralynn – I loved this month’s challenge! Would love to be a part of an August one. Thanks for everything!! -Elizabeth
