Even though Disney was great, we are so happy to be back. Space Mountain wasn’t the only roller coaster we road, this entire trip was a roller coaster full of ups and downs. The last time I blogged I was sitting at a Dunkin Donuts in New York at eight am on a Sunday morning while the car was getting fixed.
We got back on the road around ten am and headed towards Raleigh, NC. We wanted to get back before the Superbowl started.
Anothony’s mom packed us road trip snacks becuase she’s the most adorable and sweetest lady on the planet.
We made it twenty minutes before Superbowl started.
We went down to have dinner and watch the Super Bowl. I was so over all of the driving and my body was feeling it. Waking up at three am every night was getting old. My appetite was nowhere (which is rare) and so I just relaxed with a drink.
Weto cancel our Superbowl party because of the circumstances, but will be throwing a big one next year to make up for it.
I woke up at 3am to pack all my bags for our flight to Disney. Coffee at 3am isn’t the same. I haven’t been able to finish a cup of coffee in over a week. My entire body is out of whack.
The shuttle took us to the airport at 5am.
I tried coffee again, but couldn’t get it down.
I managed to have an apple cinnamon & pecan Kind bar. I love these things.
Our plane took off at 7am. After I got off the flight, I felt so nauseous. I figured it was just the lack of sleep, the motion of the plane (horrible turbulence) or the aroma of the onion breakfast sandwich the lady behind me decided to eat. I decided to brush it off.
We got to the hotel at ten am. We decided to stay at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs resort. It’s a resort very close to all the parks and they provide the shuttles. They were super friendly and so helpful. The pool area looked like so much fun because it had tennis courts, basketball, sand volleyball, pools, a hot tub and a bar. I wish it was warmer!
We loved that the hotel was inexpensive. When I go on a vacation that I know I’ll be spending zero time at the hotel, I make sure it’s cheap. Otherwise I feel guilty about leaving the hotel. If it’s a resort that I don’t plan on leaving, then I’ll budge for a nicer one!
We decided to do Epcot. My friend wanted to do “Beers All Around The World.”
We took a walk all around the water visiting all the different countries. I wish we could have had the chance to have Poutine! It’s my favorite.
England had the cutest pubs. They also had working phone booths! I heard someone with an English accent say “Our pubs are not as cute or quaint.” I know that Epcot loves to play it up, but it’s still fun!
I liked the German beer the best. It was so hoppy and citrus-y.
We hadn’t had breakfast yet, but I still wasn’t hungry.
I was sad it was so cold and windy. I brought some ginger lemon tea packets, so the kind staff at the Joffrey’s stand gave me a cup of hot water to make tea!
I was a hot mess on Monday.
The United States Pavilion was fun and filled with singing groups!
The Japan Pavilion was really cool, especially the gift shops. We watched the Matsuriza troupe of Taiko drummers perform at the five story pagoda. They were awesome!
Around noon, I worked up an appetite, so we decided to have lunch at Via Napoli in Italy (Epcot Italy that is). It was such a gorgeous restaurant with giant architectural ceilings and artwork.
I ordered a individual pepperoni pizza to split with my friend. I love brick oven pizza and this one didn’t disappoint.
The salad was really bad though haha. I’m officially not a fan of cantaloupe on my salad with romaine lettuce and orange citrus dressing. Maybe if it were arugula…At least the pizza made up for it.
We made our way through the rest of the countries and explored all the shops.
I got excited when I saw Frozen 🙂
I kept fighting off the nausea and I’m not sure the pizza helped any. I just wanted to make the best of the day at Epcot.
I knew I was sick when my friend ordered my all time favorite and I couldn’t have one bite…
I made another tea and then we headed towards the theater!
I warmed up and relaxed while watching the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival.
I got sicker and sicker as the day went on, so we only made it to 1:30 before we had to leave. I was so sick. We headed back to the hotel and I went to sleep until 6pm. When I woke up, I couldn’t even stand. My friend headed down to the lobby to grab me pepto bismol (which is hate), ginger ale, tylenol, and a thermometer because I was burning up. About an hour later, I finally got “sick sick” and then felt so much better after if you know what I mean! I decided to continue to sip on water for the rest of the night and watch The Bachelor. I wanted to feel better for Disney World’s Magic Kingdom the next day! I’m not sure if it was food poisoning or a 24 hour bug.
I feel like we missed out at Epcot, so I hope we can go back again and redo it!
I’ll be blogging all about the Magic Kingdom tomorrow 🙂
Questions for you!
- Have you ever been sick on Vacation?
- Have you ever been to Disney?
- What did you do for the Superbowl?
Jacqui says
I’m not gonna lie, as I read further and you kept alluding to feeling sick and not being able to stomach your favorite foods, plus your intro about a “roller coaster” of a trip, I TOTALLY thought you were going to say you were pregnant!!! hahah! I’m sorry your Epcot visit wasn’t perfect but hopefully the rest of the trip went well!
1. no but..
2. yes with all 4 of my cousins, my brother and my parents, aunt and uncle and EVERYONE but me got the stomach virus on the trip!!! lucky!
3. had a pretty low key party with friends and LOTS of food! easiest dessert contribution ever.. buy the bite sized brownies at the grocery store, pipe cream cheese frosting football “laces” on top! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hahaha, it does kind of sound like that BUT i’m just going to make this clear..NOT PREGNANT :D:D & yes the rest of the trip went well!
I can’t imagine being sick with that many people sick around me! yikes 🙁
That sounds like a fun sunday and a great easy dessert to bring!! love it!
Jenn says
Haha, me too! Not being able to drink coffee was my first symptom of being pregnant :).
Taralynn McNitt says
Lol oh goodness.
Good thing I had no problem downing coffee this morning 🙂 NOT PREGNANT! :D:D
Gidget says
I had the same thing last week, slowly felt sick all day than bam around 6:30 – 7 ish got sick than fine later and since. So sorry you were sick at Disney World.
Taralynn McNitt says
Weird! Must be a bug floating around. Thankfully I was better the next day and got to have a blast at Magic Kingdom! Hope you’re feeling better!
Gidget says
I am, so glad you were and got to enjoy your birthday trip! 🙂
For the superbowl my daughter and I watched a few repeat episodes of ShadowHunters. 🙂
Never been to Disney World, have been to Disney Land but I suffer from motion sickness so I just walked around.
Been sick when I was little and moved to Germany, sicker than a dog and it was a long flight. Not fun to have asthmatic bronchitis and ear infections while on a plane.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks Gidget!
That sounds like a fun night 🙂
I’d love to go to Disney Land!
I can’t imagine how awful that must have been! Yikes 🙁
Erin says
I wake up at 3 every weekday so I know what you mean!! I don’t start work until 5 but I don’t want to feel too rushed in the morning 🙂 I think coffee at that hour is fantastic!
I go to Disneyland in California every year! I loooove it, it really is the happiest place on earth! I went for Halloween and it was super cute
I didn’t watch the super bowl this year but, I usually at least go to an event! We just stayed home and watched new girl on Netflix!
Taralynn McNitt says
It would take a while for my body to adjust. It would be way easier if I was going to bed at decent hours! Nice job on waking up so early 🙂 & for being so positive about it!
I’ve never been to Disneyland OR California! It’s on my list 🙂
That sounds like a fun way to spend Sunday. You didn’t miss much!
Jessica says
1. My husband and I both got sick while on our homeymoon cruise to Alaska. I also ended up seasick the first night. Ugh, the worst! We want to go back because we had fun but bonded more over our huge bottle of nyquil 😛
2. I have never been to Disney. Write it up all nice an fun because I’m trying to convince my husband. He said we need to eait for kids but I am already a kid!
3. I worked for super bowl.
Hope you at least got to enjoy that a bit. It’s never fun being sick. Especially “sick sick” and on vacation 🙁 hope you are feeling better!
Taralynn McNitt says
That is awful! 🙁 But the memories will live on! Something you can look back and laugh on!
Disney is fun:) It’s not just for kids either. I think it’ll be harder with kids lol
I did get to enjoy the vacation luckily!
Alanna says
You said your hotel activities had basketball, sand volleyball…. And “poops”?? Just wondered if poops is an actual thing, or just a typing error lol!? It looked like you had fun though!!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hahaha that is supposed to say “POOLS” 😉
jaime says
Sorry you got sick on vacation 🙁 Hope you’re feeling better!
1. I didn’t get sick, but three days before I went to Punta Cana I broke my foot at a trampoline place! I couldn’t walk or do much on my own, but the orthopedist made me a waterproof splint, so I would scoot myself into the pool and swim around and even went snorkeling and swimming with sting rays off of a boat! it wasn’t easy getting up the ladder with one leg but I had to make the most of it. I got sad about it the first night of vacation but after that had as much fun as I could – I even danced with crutches! lol
2. I have been to Disney several times! in high school I marched in the spectromagic parade in magic kingdom with my marching band. my friends and I went there for our senior week too. also I went to Disneyland last time I was in LA. one fun thing to do is try to spot the “hidden mickeys.” they’re all over the park – in lines, the actual rides, everywhere!
3. I just hung out with my family and made a yummy Greek yogurt buffalo dip.
Taralynn McNitt says
I’m feeling much better!
Oh no! That is terrible 🙁 Your orthopedist is awesome for doing that for you! Love that you made the best of the situation.
That is really cool! I have California on my bucket list which will include DisneyLand! Awesome tip about finding the hidden mickeys!
I love hanging out with the family on Sundays during football games!
Sarah says
DISNEY! my one true love! it sucks being sick on vacation! So sad you were sick at the happiest place on earth! 🙁 Hope you enjoyed Magic Kingdom! that was my home all last summer when i worked custodial! Have a magical day!
Taralynn McNitt says
Disney is great:) Does Disney house their employees?? There are so many from all over the world! I loved Magical Kingdom!
Sarah says
There is housing for Disney College Program participants (or international program like me!) There are so many different international programs – a lot of the EPCOT cast members in the world showcase are part of an international program and they live in housing near the parks!
Taralynn McNitt says
That is pretty neat! 🙂
Lauren says
When I used to go to Disney as a child, I would get so excited that I would get sick hahah but I have never been truly sick on vacation before.. and hopefully never! I have been to Disney a handful of times, and I can’t wait to take my future kids there! I hope you enjoy your time at the Magic Kingdom!
Taralynn McNitt says
Lol maybe that’s what happened to me 😉
The kids were so happy there and I loved how all the little girl’s were dressed up. It was magical to me as well…I may have teared up a bit lol
Heather @ Polyglot Jot says
aw im so sorry! I hope the rest of your trip was better! 🙁 I got a really really bad ear infection one year on a vacation and it was so bad!
Growing up, my grandparents lived 30 minutes from Disney World so when we would go for our annual 2 week vacation to visit them we would always go to Disney. I’ve been there more than a dozen times and it never gets old!
Taralynn McNitt says
It’s ok and thank you! I felt much better the next day 🙂 Ear infections are no fun! I get swimmer’s ear sometimes and it’s terrible.
You are the luckiest child ever!:)
Heather @ Polyglot Jot says
I’m hoping when my husband and I have kids, we’ll be able to take them…but we wont be able to go as much as I was able to I’m sure! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
That is true!
Kelsey says
I’m lucky enough to work at Walt Disney World in the conventions department. You should definitely make a return trip and have a meet up!! You’ve inspired myself and many friends. Or even come back for a runDisney race–they’re the best!! I’ll be running the Enchanted 10K in a week 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
You’re so lucky! I heard the runs are pretty overwhelming with all the people, but I’d love to go back for a run! I will definitely be back!
Kyla says
Sounds like life has been chaotic the past week or two! Hope you are feeling much better!!
* I have been sick on vacation – unfortunately ended up getting sick in front of thousands of people at Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park. Not fun! :p
* I went to Disney & Epcot when I was around 6 years old! Would LOVE to go back!
* Super Bowl was low key – just me and the hubby but with a ton of yummy snacks and a few beers! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Feeling much better! Thank you 🙂
I actually stayed at the Old Faithful Inn when I was in Seventh Grade. I went on a two week summer trip with my class on the Great Western! Good thing you didn’t know all 1000 people 🙂 You’d never live that one down.
I bet it was so cool seeing all the Disney Characters at age six!
Thats the way to do it!
Tiffany S says
1. When I was in 1st grade my family went to the Florida keys for a week (lived in the Midwest, so a very exciting vacation!). I got strep throat and was miserable for days!! I’m so sorry to hear you were sick, especially in the happiest place on earth! Just an excuse to come back again 🙂
2. I am lucky enough to now live in Florida for medical school, so I go to Disney almost every month!! It’s my favorite place in the world. I just did my first Disney race in January, and it was the best race experience I have ever had! They really know how to do everything well. Since you’re such a runner, I think you would really love doing one of their 10ks!!
3. I took a study break (neuroanatomy exam the next day) and made slow cooker spinach dip and cheered for Peyton Manning! I’m sorry you had to cancel your party, but you always make the best of awful situations! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Anywhere warm is exciting when you live in the midwest! Strep throat is no joke 🙁 Fortunately I got better!
You are so lucky! I love running, but races aren’t my thing and I’m trying 🙂 Its all the people around me that freaks me out! Are the races pretty jammed pack or can you run free? I’d be up for one!
That dip sounds amazing! Glad Peyton got a win for his last year!
The great thing about Super Bowl is that it’s every year so we will just try again!:)
Tiffany S says
So the race start is pretty packed, but once you get going it’s pretty spread out! They are really great at giving a long time between corrals. I did my 10k at about a 10:30 pace and so I started in the second corral out of 6. It was really spread out actually, I never felt like I was dodging between people! It’s fun running around the parks, too! The only thing is, they’re SO popular that if you want to do one, you have to sign up pretty much the day they open registration or book through a travel agency. You also need to stay on property otherwise getting to start line is a nightmare! The package deals are really good, though. I hope you come visit Disney again soon!! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
That is so great to hear! I had someone tell me the other day that Disney was the worst experience he’s ever had, but that also may becuase he had to get up at 3 am to make the start! I’d love to do a Disney race. Thank you for all the tips!!
Tiffany S says
It definitely wasn’t exciting to have to wake up at 3:15AM, but from my experience I usually still have to get up at 4 or 5 for races anyway! The energy of the crowd is really great too in Disney. It was even pouring rain the whole time I was waiting for my 10k, but I still thought it was fun! You also have lots of traveling experience so I’m sure you would adjust okay. The race doesn’t start til 5ish so you have enough time to eat and everything too while you’re waiting around, which was really good for me to do pre-race.
Tara says
Being sick really stinks! I hope you were able to enjoy the rest of your trip! I got sick last year on the night before we were leaving for Jamaica. I was “sick sick” all night. Our flight left at 5:00 am, and I spent the whole night in the bathroom floor of the hotel. I was sick on the plane, and when we got to the resort, I went to bed. The next day I was fine! But, it was really awful traveling like that! I’ve been to Disney Land, but not Disney World. I really want to go though. I can’t wait to read about the rest of your trip!
Taralynn McNitt says
I had a lot of fun the next day! & felt much better.
You went through so much:( That is awful. I would have stayed home! You’re brave for sticking it out. I couldn’t be on a plane! Glad you felt better!
You’ll love Disney world!:) & I want to see DisneyLand!
xo
Aimee says
Tara, I love your recaps!
I got motion sick from roller coasters on my honeymoon, and my husband and I spent the rest of the day in our hotel :S Oh well!
I’ve been to Disneyland, but never Disney World. We are planning a trip for next fall, so I am super excited!
We went low key for the superbowl, a small party with friends and some tasty treats 🙂
Love you girl! Keep the recaps coming!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you Aimee!
Hotels are fun too…unless you’re sick 🙁 I do LOVE the roller coasters! unless they’re spinning ones.
You’ll have a blast and it’ll still be nice in the fall! I’m excited to see the one in Cali!
Low key is ideal 🙂
I’ll definitely keep them coming!

So sorry you were sick on your vacation! Such a bummer 🙁
1. My family and I went to Cancun for two weeks for a family vacation and I got “my time of the month” I know it’s not the same, but I felt horrible the first day.
2. Yes! I love Disney! I’ve only been to Disney world though, not Disneyland.
3. We had some family over for homemade pizza. It was a nice time 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
It’s ok! I alt east got to enjoy Magical Kingdom!
That is NO fun on vacation 🙁 I get very sick during mine and deal with really bad cramps and have a pretty crazy condition, so I get it!
Disney land is on my list!
That sounds like so much fun 🙂
Lauren says
I feel your pain! We just had a 3 night vacation in Cancun, and I got really sick the 2nd night, probably from something I ate. I felt so bad, because it was such a short trip and the whole night was wasted ? Thankfully the concierge got me meds from the pharmacy and I felt fine the rest of the trip!
Taralynn McNitt says
At least you got to enjoy some of the trip 🙂 Sorry that happened! Cancun is great! Loved it there!
Lindsey says
I hate that you were so sick! I live in Lakeland, FL which is about 45 minutes from Disney so Ive grown up going there regularly and I’m so excited that you got to experience it! It truly is a place you never outgrow 🙂 I’m looking forward to your Magic Kingdom post, that’s my personal favorite park. And on a side note; Ive been reading your blog for years and Ive never commented, but you truly are wonderful and inspiring. Not trying to be cheesy! But as a first timer I have to let you know 😉
Taralynn McNitt says
I don’t think anyone could outgrow Disney, even Nick LOVED it! Magic Kingdom was amazing 🙂 You are so lucky to live so close! I also love Florida. Thank you for the kind words about my blog and I appreciate the comment!! xo
Hannah says
Being sick on Vacation isn’t fun! I hope you get to enjoy the rest of your vacation better.
1. Once when we were in Lake Chelan I got horrible sick. We were there all weekend, but I stuck in the hotel room, which is the worst part when you a view of the lake but can’t go outside to enjoy it!
2. I’ve been to Disneyland twice, once when I was 9, and once this past summer! I absolutely love Disnye and have constant dreams of going back. One of the things on my bucket list to run a race in Disney! They sound so fun.
3. For the super bowl my brothers girlfriend and I went to see The Choice at the movie theater. I’m not a big fan of football, but I am a huge Nicholas Sparks fan! It was a really good movie, I totally recommend it for a girls day.
I hope you continue to feel better!
Taralynn McNitt says
The rest of my vacation was great.
1. That is no fun! 🙁 At least you had a good view?…
2. You really do love Disney! The races must be exciting!
3. Ahhh I want to see that! I don’t think there is a movie of his I do not like! I will definitely go see that this weekend 🙂
Thank you so much Hannah!
xo
Lauren says
Yea! You finally got to go to disney world! I’ve been reading your blogs for awhile and I know that was on your bucket list.
I’ve been to disneyland once and disney world several times. Make sure you go on all the rides u can. Ask a person who works there to help u get fast passes for longer waits. It pretty much allows u to skip the line.
It’s totally worth the hassle.
I hope u have so much fun there.
Lauren
Taralynn McNitt says
I just crossed it off the bucket list yesterday! 🙂
We are going to make sure to get a fast pass the next time we are there!
It was a blast:)
Thank you Lauren!!
Gabrielle says
The same thing happened to me about three years ago when my best friend of 21 years and I went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We were in such a hurry to get to the park that I skipped breakfast. I rode several roller coasters on an empty stomach and for some reason that made me extremely sick. I ended up having to leave the park around 2:00 pm. My best friend stayed behind with my mom and brother, which I was okay with. I didn’t want my sickness to deter her from having a good time. It’s still a bit disappointing that I didn’t get to experience the rest of the day with her, but we’re making up for it by going on a two week trip to Europe this summer. London is on our list and I can’t wait to show her around to all the places I visited last time I was there. Plus, you can bet the Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio Tour is a priority!
Taralynn McNitt says
I think that trip to Europe will most certainly make up for it! We didn’t do Harry Potter world becuase I haven’t read any of the books or watched any of the movies. It’s on my list to do and then we will go! We want to go with Nick’s brother too because he’s obsessed with Harry Potter.
Lauren says
It sucks that you were sick, but good it was only a 24 hour thing…
I’ve never really been sick on vacation, but I have gotten a rash all over my body…I think from the sun. That sucks too.
I’ve been to Disney in Paris a couple of times and one time in California. I really want to go back now!
They don’t really show superbowl here, but it seems fun to watch with a group! I did watch some clips on YouTube. Beyoncé was awesome!
Taralynn McNitt says
I agree. It could have been a lot worse!
Yeah, rashes are no fun. I just got over a really fun one…poison sumac…yikes!
My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Paris next year and we want to do Disney over there!
The Superbowl was boring this year and I was extremely tired from traveling. So many people loved or hated that performance. I did’t pay much attention to it. I’ve never been a Beyonce or Coldplay fan.
Becky says
I’m so sorry to hear that you were sick at Disney! It’s such a bummer to spend a bunch of money on a vacation and get so excited and then get sick. I’m glad you were still able to have some fun and enjoy Epcot a little. You should definitely go back whenever you get a chance because Epcot has so much to offer. When I was younger I thought Epcot was so boring but now that I’m older it may tie with Magic Kingdom as my favorite park in Disney! There are some great rides, such as Soarin Over California and Test Track, and World Showcase is amazing! I love to explore each of the countries, especially the unique gift shops. Each country has amazing and unique food and drinks. The last time I went to Disney with my family we drank around the world and had so much fun! I can’t wait to hear about your day at the Magic Kingdom!
Everyone in my family has gotten sick at Disney World on various vacations. We often do the Disney Dining Plan, which ends up being way more food than any normal person can eat, so most of us just got sick from eating too much, although my mom got food poisoning at one of the restaurants once. Luckily we all felt much better after getting “sick sick” and got over it quickly!
I’ve never been to CA or Disneyland either, but I’m going for the first time this spring when I visit my friend in LA. It’ll be nice to experience Walt’s original Disney theme park, but I hope I’m not disappointed because I’m so used to Disney World, which is much larger!
Taralynn McNitt says
It’s ok! & thank you!
We will definitely be going again. The gift shops were so much fun to browse!
We kept hearing about the Disney Dining plan but didn’t know if it was something to look into!
Let mek now what you think of CALI & Disneyland!
Have a great trip!
xo
Becky says
It’s definitely at least worth looking into the Disney Dining Plan a little bit. Disney fans are pretty divided about whether or not it’s worth it. I don’t think it’s a huge money saver, but I like having my meals paid for ahead of time so I don’t have to pay attention to prices on the menu or feel guilty about eating out. Disney has so many amazing restaurants and it’s tempting to try them all. It doesn’t sound like much food when you look into it, but because the portions are usually huge, it’s a ton of food! We usually have unused meals and/or snacks at the end of our trips. I should also note that you have to stay at a Disney hotel to get the meal plan, so that may be the biggest deciding factor for you since you enjoyed staying at an off-property hotel.
Taralynn McNitt says
Good to know!! 🙂
Nicole says
Ugh, I got a stomach virus at Disney World once too! It’s the worst, being stuck in a hotel room when you want to be outside enjoying everything isn’t fun at all. Glad it didn’t last too long 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Yes! At least it was cold out so I didn’t have too much drive to go outside anyways! Vacation takes a toll on the body for sure!
Cyndi P says
Hey girl!!
Lovely post-I love seeing all the pictures of the most magical place on Earth! So sorry you got sick but I’m glad to see the rest of your vacay went well!! (Judging from the comments, of course! 🙂 )
1. I have actually been lucky enough to have never gotten sick on vacation-unless you count alcohol-induced sickness. Haha what happens in Vegas…
2. My oh my have I been to Disney! I did the Disney College Program there for 6 months-and it was MAGICAL. I’ve been to Magic Kingdom SO MANY TIMES…but Epcot is my home and where I worked. 😉 I have also been to Disneyland, and I suggest you go there with an open mind and try not to compare the two Disney parks. They both have their merits and misgivings! I will tell you it’s cheaper to do Land bc there’s only two parks instead of four! Also, next time you hit WDW you have to go to Animal Kingdom! It’s my favorite. <3
3. So I'm currently working with a nutritionist to start my journey to eating healthy and in order to keep healthy and away from temptation, I had to forfeit going to any Superbowl parties! But my boyfriend and I did watch it–and I have to say the Puppy Bowl was more exciting!
Thanks for blogging, I am inspired by you daily!
-Cyndi
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Cyndi!
It was a great trip :)…after the sickness of course.
Ha love it and yes what happens in vegas…
You do know your Disney! I’ll make sure to email you next time we go!
Lol gotta love the puppy bowl and congrats on your journey!! kick butt!

So jealous! Well not of the getting sick part! Boo! That stinks! I went to Florida a few years ago when the Harry Potter stuff opened at Universal so we spent our days doing that. However we are trying to plan a trip to go back to Disney World. I want to eat at Be Our Guest, Bell is my absolute favorite! It’s not a rush though since we live in Orange County, California and go to Disneyland pretty often. My husband works for there broadcast so any commercials you see he’s worked on them, so lucky for me i get in free! In fact I was there last night. I can’t wait to check out Epcot, the food there sounds amazing. Nick and you should try and go back in October when they do there huge Food & Wine Festival! Glad you’re feeling better and can’t wait to read about Disneyworld!
Taralynn McNitt says
I love Belle too! We want to plan a better trip becuase it was a last minute decision so we didn’t do much research. You’re so lucky!!! We heard the food and wine festival is awesome!!! xo

Sick at Disney World?! That SUCKS. I would’ve been mildly devastated. My husband and I went to Disney World 3 years ago for our one year anniversary. We are at the same restauarant at the Italian pavilion! Their tiramisu was on point! I funnily enough also got sick on our Disney trip – but mine was on the day we left. Woke up feeling like I got hit by a bus and I had some kind of rash all over my legs. Pretty sure it was a heat rash and not being used to the Florida heat (as we are from ND). Not quite the stomach bug you had, but it was enough to keep me in bed and not go to Epcot with my husband for a last few hour hurrah. It’s never fun being sick on any vacation!
Taralynn McNitt says
At least i had Tuesday 🙂
We definitely did not have any florida heat! 🙁 It was 45 degrees. I agree being sick on vacation stinks!
Ashley says
Being sick on vacation is the worst. Glad you improved and could enjoy the rest of your trip. There must be something wrong with me. I find Magic Kingdom boring with not much to do. I did enjoy Epcot. I absolutely loved Universal with Harry Potter World. I haven’t read the books either, but it’s so impressive and the rides are amazing.
Taralynn McNitt says
It is!
Magic Kingdom is very crowded which makes it hard to do everything. I enjoyed seeing all the characters and watching them preform! We wanted to go to Universal but didn’t have time.
Alexa says
That is SUCH a bummer that you were sick while at Epcot! 🙁 Mexico was home to my favorite drink. They have this fancy margarita bar and I got a jalapeno margarita and it was the most delicious thing EVER.
What’d you think of the Pixar shorts? I loved that when we went just last month!

Hi Taralynn,
I’m so sorry you were sick at Epcot! It’s so much fun and I hope you were able to enjoy the rest of your vacation!! I don’t get motion sickness very often, but I was on a cruise with my family several years ago and happened to be reading in my room. Unfortunately, I had an interior room and succumbed to terrible motion sickness. When I get motion sickness, I come down with a huge fever and am bed bound for at least 3 days which is horrible on a 7 day cruise! I had also won a spa package at a bingo tournament that I had to give to my brothers since I could not attend any of the treatments 🙁
I have been to Disney several times, but my most memorable time was when I went when I was a senior in high school! My lacrosse team was sent down to Disney for spring training! We got to have training sessions throughout the parks and experience Disney in a whole different way which I thought was incredible!
Lastly, my boyfriend and I threw a Superbowl party at our new house with all our friends. We had a pot luck cook-off and had a prize for the best dish (which happened to be a phenomenal crab dip – we’re Marylanders and love anything to do with fresh crab). It was a ton of fun and we hardly spent any time watching the game, but just enjoying the company and food and drinks 😉

Thank you & I definitely enjoyed the next day at the Magic Kingdom & Downtown Disney!
That sounds like such a fun way to experience Disney!
That is what Nick and I had planned, but there is always next year! I bet you guys had so much fun! I LOVE anything crab as well!!

No fun at all being sick at Disney! I used to work at Disney, Epcot actually and loved every minute of it. Seeing your pictures have made me so homesick for it! I worked there for about 3 years before moving back to Texas. Disney is definitely my “happy place”. Hopefully you were feeling better for Magic Kingdom the next day! can’t wait to read all about it! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Three years! WOW! I bet that was so much fun. I definitely loved and enjoyed magic kingdom!

Wow sounds like a crazy couple of days for you guys! I’m sure the stress brought in from your hectic weekend didn’t help with being sick. But I am glad it didn’t last long for you! I am looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip.
1. The only time I could think of being sick on a trip was when I flew out to California after my high school graduation. My aunt and uncle had invited me and a +1 to come stay with them. My sister and I flew out and it was a stressful weekend getting ready, our flights, our layover, ect. I was sick the first morning we were there. Not a fun start to the trip but the rest of the time was great.
2. I have never been to Disney World or Disney Land. I would love to visit though. I am a huge Disney fan! Who is your favorite Disney princess/character?
3. I didn’t do much for the Super Bowl. I just chilled at home with my family. We made a taco dip and laughed at commercials.
Taralynn McNitt says
Yes. I agree! It’s been so nice to get work caught up and relax at home.
1. California is on my list! No fun that you were sick, but thankfully you got to enjoy the rest of the trip!
2. I love love love Belle! & OF COURSE Cinderella!
3. The commercials were the best part!

I’ve never been sick on vacation but once when I was a teenager my little brother got really sick at the beach. My parents live in North FL and we drove down to visit the Space Center and go to the beach. It was early spring and still pretty chilly so my brother (he was around 8 or 9 at the time) was the only one who swam at all. We think he swallowed something nasty in the water because that night he go so sick sick! My mom and dad were up all night with him. It was rough.

I love Disney! Mt boyfriend is Disney Vacation club member. We go twice a year. We never get tired of going. It’s a happy place. I have been sick there . It is not fun. I had a panic attack there in the summer from allergy meds. I feel bad you didn’t get to enjoy a full day at epcot! Hopefully you will get there again. You should look into Food & Wine festival at Epcot in the fall. It is great!
Taralynn McNitt says
The food & wine festival sounds like a blast! & you’re lucky to go twice a year!!

1.- Not sick sick, but with my period always on vacations..
2.- Yes, I have been to Disney a few times when I was a child and the last time I went it was two days before my contractions started the reason was that I walked a lot at Disney World.
3.- I ate so much!! I made Guacamole, ordered wings the spacy ones and tortillas with choriqueso.
Taralynn McNitt says
1. That is always my luck and the worst!
2. Oh my!!

I’m so sad that you got sick at Epcot!! You definitely need to go back! Try to go during the Epcot Food and Wine Festival that’s normally during the fall. February is a great time because we aren’t that busy then! If you do go back for the festival, don’t go on a Saturday! The weekend days are our busiest days because of locals! But to answer your original questions:
Have you ever been sick on Vacation? Yes! I had some sinus infection/something not quite flu when I was on vacation at Disney in 2014!
Have you ever been to Disney? A few times because IkindOfWorkThere…:D
What did you do for the Superbowl? I was visiting my boyfriend in Chicago and got to watch it with his family!
Also, I know I’m late reading this post, but I wanted to see how your trip was!
Taralynn McNitt says
We will definitely go back again! We heard the Food and Wine festival is a blast. 🙁 NO FUN on having the flu!
Love that you work there so lucky!!
That sounds like so much fun but chicago is SOOO cold this time of year.

I know I’m really late on commenting, but I’m so glad to hear you had a good time at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista. I work at another Wyndham hotel not too far from that one. And I’m sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well at Epcot. My boyfriend and I did the 3 days at Disney in a row, and Epcot was our last park. We were both so tired the weather was hot, and I never realized how much walking there was there! Any other day would’ve been fine but we were done! We left probably around 5pm and didn’t stay for the fireworks show, which I love. Until next time!

I’ve just recently found your blog and I love it! I’ve been logging on every day to catch up on your posts 🙂 They are so inspiring and I’m making your turkey burgers for dinner tonight!
I live about 45 minutes from Disney. My husband and I have annual passes and we go probably every other weekend! I’m sorry you got sick on your trip 🙁 that’s no fun and especially not magical. You will definitely have to come back and try out Epcot again, and also do Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios! There is so much to do and see at all the parks, we pretty much have it down to a science lol.
