Good Morning Everyone!
I hope you are all having a fantastic week. And if not, hang in there because tomorrow is Friday! I’ve spent most of the week taking care of my sick boyfriend. The poor guy has been in and out of the doctors and not feeling so great. Luckily, things are looking up and he’s feeling better today.
Last night, I made him some chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. That was my go-to meal when I was sick as a kid. Plus, it’s one of my favorite meals, so I made some for myself.
I haven’t done a recap posts since Friday the 13th, so I guess it’s time to catch up! You know, I wasn’t too sure about these “recap” posts, but I’ve been getting a good response and people have been telling me that they look for them in the mornings, so that meant a lot! I think it’s kind of fun to reflect back on the week. I gives me the chance to to get to know a lot of you as well, especially through the comments. Just try to keep in mind that these recap posts are just bits and pieces of my life. Not every second is perfect, not everything I eat goes onto this blog, not everything I do gets documented, and there are tons of things that I leave out. No one is perfect. However, I like to focus on positive stuff more than the negative and I think that keeps me happy and motivated. It’s more fun to write about all the fun things I did instead of the struggles. And believe me, there are a lot.
I’m not sure if it’s Friday the 13th that has me looking all pale, or the fact that winter/fall has arrived. Probably a mixture of both! As I mentioned on Friday, I was so excited to get my skinny peppermint mocha latte from Starbucks. Unfortunately, I had to wait 20 minutes for a latte missing espresso and syrup. I’m not sure what happened, but I was handed a cup of hot milk. I didn’t feel like waiting another 20 minutes for them to make another and I didn’t feel like complaining to the young college kids working their butts off, so I just left and decided to let it go. I actually felt bad for them because it was a slightly large Starbucks on a main road with a drive thru and they only had three people working. It was definitely understaffed and I’d be so overwhelmed if that was me.
I stopped at the grocery store on the way back to my parents. I picked up some stuff to make grilled chicken salads.
The grilled chicken was delicious. Details on how I cooked it are all here on this post!
The salad had mixed greens, turkey bacon, avocado, crispy onion, croutons, southwest tortilla strips, soft-boiled eggs, and Hendrickson’s Dressing Original Sweet Vinegar and Olive Oil. It was so delicious!
I was sick to my stomach on Friday night. I had plans to meet up with the girls and go out, but I couldn’t get myself up to do it. I started watching everything going on in France and continued to watch all night long. With everything going on over there, I didn’t feel like going out and having a good time. I wanted to pray for everyone dealing with the tragedy. Even those who are not in France, are going through tragedy. There were a couple comments like “prayers won’t help”…but, I believe in the power of God and his plan for us. He works in ways that we will never understand, I believe that he can strengthen us during times like these, he brings us closer together, and I will never lose faith during the struggles or when humanity fails us. And I will keep praying every single day.
Saturday morning, I went out and took photos for the shop:)
After the little shoot, I headed to the mall with my mom for a girl’s day. We spend over an hour in Bath and Body Works smelling all the candles and stocking up on wall scents!
After we left, I was sooooo hungry. We headed to Earth Fare for some sushi, coffee, and juice before picking up some groceries.
I had the “MaryBeth” juice with added carrots and extra ginger. I also had some coffee with cinnamon and coconut milk.
Mary Beth: Turmeric, lime, spinach, kale, apple, ginger, and cucumber.
Iowa had a late game, so I headed back to my parents house to watch with them. I ended up falling asleep during the first quarter and would wake up in and out of quarters. I can’t believe we are 10-0! That’s a school record!
ON MY WAY TO CHURCH VIEW
The fog over the river was so beautiful and the silhouette of the trees resembled mountains.
The priest talked about the end of the world and how we can’t live or lives in fear of it. We need to live a life full of love, faith, and helping others. We were put on this earth to help each other and to love with all of our hearts. Even when we feel as if everything and everyone is against us, we need to dig ourselves back up and keep faith.
After church we headed to Stacks. Stacks has a new location now and the old restaurant has been demolished. I couldn’t believe it when I drove by. BUT, their new location is so nice! It’s bigger, it’s cleaner, and super cute. The wait is still pretty lengthy, but that’s the beauty of a popular and delicious breakfast spot.
I ordered two eggs over easy, wheat toast, fresh fruit, and bacon! DELICIOUS.
We went up the road to Portofinos. I’m not a giant fan of calamari, so I was happy that he ordered it as the appetizer. I had bread and salad with it. Portofinos has the best house dressing and homemade bread. Luckily it was Sunday and I let myself have a good meal on that day.
I love ordering the specials at Portofinos. They change every time we go there and they have never failed me. I told her to give me the most popular special and she brought out the beef stew. It tasted like a post roast with giant egg noodles. It really was delicious! I would never order something like this, so it was nice to try something different and truly enjoy it.
I started my day early on Monday. I wanted to get all my things done, workout, and prepare dinner for my parents. I had my coffee while watching the news and then headed to the grocery store.
I couldn’t help but think about the victims and families dealing with all the tragedy around the world, so I prayed for them. As everyone woke up and started their day, I knew it would never be the same for them. My heart goes out to all of them.
I mentioned how horrible my run was on Friday, so I decided to slow down my miles and it went so much better! I found a path full of hills, so it made up for the slower time. Plus, it’s nice to “run” without worrying about my pace. Maybe it was the pasta the night before that helped me have a better run 😉
I also read an article about what running does to your stomach and how to prevent the aches. I’ll make sure to not drink or eat anything 2 hours before I run. That makes a huge difference.
After running, I made a juice! It had carrots, ginger, apple, lemon, orange, cucumber, and zucchini.
I finally got my MINTED pictures up on the wall where I want them to be. Now, I’m patiently waiting for my dad to come nail them to the wall and straighten them out 🙂 I’ll be doing a post on those prints soon!
I invited my parents over for dinner Monday night. My mom and I wanted to watch Dancing With The Stars.
I decided to make baked salmon, broccoli, and garlic parm potatoes.
I boiled about ten medium/large yukon potatoes until they were fork tender. I sliced them and added them to a large mixing bowl with garlic powder, italian seasoning, parmesan cheese, brown sugar, low sodium soy sauce, and black pepper.
I preheated the oven to 400 degrees and spread the potatoes out on a baking sheet. I topped them again with more parm cheese and italian seasoning. I baked them for about 45 minutes.
They were soooooo so so so good. They had so much flavor and were crispy!
You can find my salmon recipe here: it’s my go-to.
I served the salmon and potatoes with whole wheat french baguettes and steamed broccoli sautéed in garlic and parmesan.
Everyone loved the meal and we had some tasty apple crisp for dessert!
Dancing the stars was so good:) I think Bindi and Derek are going to win. What do you guys think?
The pups didn’t seem to care for the show much.
I made fried eggs, and english muffins with grapes for breakfast on Tuesday.
The dogs had fun ripping up stuffed animals and I was constantly sweeping up fluff.
Tino was getting cuddly while I did homework.
I made my very own “MARY BETH” juice at home. 🙂 I also had some yummy popcorn with it.
We watched the Hornets game Tuesday night followed by Gotham.
I got all my packages sent out yesterday and have more to do today. I love waking up early with coffee and knocking them all out while I watch Good Morning America.
Roadtrip to the post office!
When I got back, I went running on the trail for 3.68 miles. It was SO HILLY! But, I think it’s making me a better runner. Today, I really need to do some strength training.
I picked up a salad at Harris Teeter to have for lunch. It had kale, blueberries, pasta, carrots, chicken salad, and cheese. It was pretty random, but delicious.
I made some cranberry chocolate chip cookies to drop off for my mom’s work Thanksgiving party. They were so so so so good and I’ll post that recipe later!
They got mad at me for taking away the stuffed animals. They were replaced with bones.
SO, I have to introduce you guys to the tastiest FALL chips out there right now. Way Better Snacks sent me a couple of their new flavors for me to try. I was thinking…”ginger snap tortilla chips?”…but they were seriously addicting! The apple cinnamon spice were just as good!
Oh, My Sweet Punkin Cranberry Tortilla Chips
THE THREE SEASONAL FLAVORS!
- Oh My Sweet Pumkin Cranberry: This fan favorite, first introduced in 2013, is like Thanksgiving in a bag. Dried cranberries dot each chip, surrounded by a base of warm pumpkin, flax seed and quinoa. A dash of sea salt gives each bite just the right balance of sweet and savory.
- Oh Snap! Ginger Snap: The brand spankin’ new chip is made with sprouted premium ingredients such as flax seed, quinoa and chia seed. Crystallized ginger pieces are baked right in for a punch of delicious ginger snap flavor. Hints of molasses and warm spices will transport you to a holiday wonderland.
- Everything Nice Apple Cinnamon Spice: Ever wish the apple orchard had more crunch? This new addition is made with a base of real apples and sprouted flax seed, quinoa and chia seed, with just the right hints of molasses and spices.
These flavors would be so fun to set out on the table for Thanksgiving or Christmas with a fruit salsa!
I also think they did an awesome job on the packaging 🙂 I’m crazy for plaid.
I am skipping a run today and going to do strength training. This morning, Grumples and I went out for a two mile walk. He loves getting outside:)
Now, I’m going to end this INCREDIBLY long recap post with my breakfast! I had a slice of whole grain peanut butter toast (not pictured) and Greek yogurt with toasted oats muesli. I am a huge fan of the Nature Valley toasted oats! They taste like crumbled granola bars!
Nature Valley Toasted Oats Muesli, Blueberry
I’m off to run about eight errands, fulfill packages, and then to the gym!
I hope you all have a wonderful day!
THREE QUESTIONS FOR YOU:
1. What is your favorite day of the week and why?
2. How do you stay active on rainy days?
3. What is your favorite dessert on Thanksgiving?
Love these posts! Also glad I’m not the only one that loves m&ms with popcorn 🙂 To answer your questions..
1. I love Sundays because I usually run all of my errands on Saturday, so Sundays are for watching Netflix with my dog and relaxing all day!
2. If i don’t feel like going to the gym, I like doing a yoga video or a bunch of strength workouts in my room with a set of dumbbells. Sometimes, if I’m feeling ‘intense,’ I’ll go for a run in the rain. It makes me feel like a crazy amazing athlete, even though I’m a slow runner. 🙂
3. I’m not a big pie fan, but I love apple pie with vanilla ice cream on Thanksgiving. We get the ice cream from a local creamery and it’s the best. I’m thinking of trying your apple crisp recipe this year!
Thank you Jaime!!
Popcorn without M&M’s wouldn’t be the same! It’s my favorite movie night snack.
1. Sundays are my fave too!
2. You are pretty awesome! I sometimes use rainy days as an “excuse”.
3. I used to NEVER be an apple pie fan until recently! I also love our local Waxhaw creamery! That such a good idea to get ice cream from them for thanksgiving this year! Thanks for the idea:) & the apple crisp won’t let you down!
XO & have a fantastic week!
I read your blog almost everyday on my lunch break at work. Keeps me motivated and your blogs are so relatable. You’re such an amazing woman and role model to so many. Keep shining bright (:
Thank you so much Katie Lynn! That means so much 🙂 xo xo xo
Hi! I love all your clothes! How did you get into the clothing industry and do you have any advice?
Elise
Thanks Elise!
I did a lot of reading on how to do it and how to get started! There is so much more than just buying and selling. It keeps me insanely busy, but I’m learning so much!!
Anything that you would suggest for reading to get someone started in the right direction?
We just started watching Gotham too!! We are hooked haha. Glad I’m not the only one.
That salmon and potatos looks delicious! May have to try that recipe soon 🙂
Ugh. It’s so good. I’m so mad at Nick though because I fell asleep and he watched three episodes without me. THE FRICK NICK!? 😉
That is my go-to salmon recipe and you’ll love it! Especially if you liked the scallops one!
Hey Taralynn,
1. My favorite day of the week right now is Saturday. I am a paramedic and I work in an ER but because I’m PRN (part time as needed) I make my own schedule so I usually leave myself off on Saturdays. I waited tables for years and it’s hard to get weekends off. I love doing 5ks and stuff early, then being lazy or running errands, then grabbing dinner with a friend.
2. On rainy days I usually do my hardcore cleaning like scrubbing the tub and the floors by hand, then I sleep as much as humanly possible.
3. My favorite dessert is by far cheesecake and usually my brother and I fight over it on Thanksgiving. I’m thinking of trying a recipe myself next week to make low-carb mason jar cheesecakes in the crockpot. I feel like that was also the most “hipster” sentence I’ve ever typed. LOL.
Hey!
1. Looks like everyone LOVE Saturday! You have such and important job, I bet you’re so proud! I wish there were more 5ks at like noon 😉 I would do more, but I HATE running that early. Maybe one day I can get into the groove of it. I do like to wake up early and go yard sale-ing(not a word) and run errands, but not run. Totally weird.
2. Rainy days are great for cleaning, cooking, and watching Netflix or reading a book with wine. I wish I could sleep more! My brain just goes all over the place.
3. I’ve never been a HUGE cheesecake person, but now and then I enjoy it. Lol that sounds like a pretty intense cheesecake!! I did a low carb lemon cheesecake bar recipe that is really good if you like lemon & cheesecake!

5ks at noon would be fantastic. The one I’m doing tomorrow is the Pumpkin Spice run in Ft Worth. It’s actually an hour and a half from my house, but only 1/2 from work so I rented a room via AirBnB about a mile from the race so I can get my sleep since I get off at midnight. I’ve never done the AirBnB thing so I hope it goes well.
You are so dedicated! Good luck on your race today and I look forward to hearing all about it!!
Love your recap posts! Plus you blogging about your runs helps to motivate me to workout on days I’m feeling lazy. Believe it or not I started running only on the track at the local high school after work, but once school got back in session after summer there was something always going on there, so that meant I had to run the loop around where my house is (little less than 1/2 mile for a full lap). Turns out about half of the loop is up hill and I was depressed watching my times drop dramatically, because I was getting better and better. Though about a month ago I started going back to the track (before daylight savings and now it’s all dark when I leave work, so I don’t run outside during the week anymore) and the hills really helped me with my strength and my times. Considering I was used to see about an 11 minute mile, or even a 10.5 minute mile on a good day, and now I’m just below a 10 minute mile. So hills suck, but they do work.
Now to answer your questions (haha):
1. I enjoy Fridays and Saturdays the most, not only because it is the weekend, but having that knowledge in the back of your mind that you don’t have to get up early the next day helps me sleep better, even though I’m still usually up by about 7:00 and ready for my coffee and a workout.
2. On rainy days I either do Zumba (I have the Exhilarate collection of DVDs), or I just recently got an early Christmas present of a treadmill that I’ve been wanting so I can keep up with my running. I also was doing, and need to get back into doing, Pop Pilates or Blogilates, for toning.
3. Finally, my weakness for Thanksgiving dessert is apple pie. I’m not big on the dutch apple pie, but just the regular good old apple pie.
Thanks Hillary!
Blogging about my runs actually motivate me too! It makes me want to continue to run and continue to get better at it! I just found a track down the road and I’ve been contemplating on running that! (to escape the hills). You sound just like me when it comes to hills. I’ve also been trying to force myself to slow down and just run longer distance/longer time, but I keep finding myself trying to compete with my previous times. It’s a crazy mindset!
1. It’s knowing you don’t have to be anywhere and you can wake up at your own pace! No rushing or anything. I used to be the same way when I was in Chicago. I HATED WAKING UP at six to go to work, but was fine waking up on the weekend when I didn’t have to be anywhere. I know thats going to happen to me when school starts up in August. I’ll actually physically have to be there.
2. Zumba is so fun and I’m sad that the zumba “hype” is gone. My local gyms replaced it with barre. I like the treadmill if I have a good playlist and a movie in front of me!
3. Apple pie is a big one with everyone!
My favorite day of the week is Saturday because that is our family day. I also like to run in the rain,it is hard to stay motivated for me if I am on a treadmill. I love Pumpkin Trifle for Thanksgiving dessert,it has layers of spice cake, pumpkin butterscotch pudding and whip cream. Yum! I really enjoy your posts, recipes, and the healthy living tips!
Any day you can spend with family is a favorite day to me 🙂 I had to run in the rain several times last month becuase it just wouldnt let up! The first mile sucked, but I got used to it. I’m reallllly trying to enjoy a treadmill, but fortunately we’ve had nice weather here. I’ve never heard of Pumpkin Trifle so now I’m intrigued…do you have a recipe?!
xo
Pumpkin Trifle ingredients are 1 box of spice cake mix,4 cups skim milk,4 packages,1 Oz each, instant sugar free butterscotch pudding,1 can,15oz,solid pack pumpkin,1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4th teaspoon of each, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice,1 carton 12oz of cool whip. Bake cake as directed and cool completely then crumble the cake, set aside 1/4 up for garnish. In a bowl whisk pudding and milk until soft set, stir in pumpkin and spices, mix well. In a trifle bowl, layer 1/4 of cake crumbs and half of pumpkin mixture, then 1/4 of the crumbs and 1/2 of container of whipped topping, repeat layers.Garnish with remaining crumbs. Serve immediately or refrigerate. Feel free to use light ingredients or not, it is good both ways! Also I have had this recipe substitute the spice cake with gingerbread and like the spice cake better. Enjoy!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE your recaps! When I haven’t had a chance to catch up on your posts, I definitely read your recaps to see what amazing things you’ve been up to! I hope Nick is feeling better and you both have a wonderful weekend!! How do you manage to post while you’re on vacation? I feel like I struggle with this! But I can’t lie, I’m loving my relaxing time in Boston 🙂 Ok to answer your 3 questions:
1. Friday is my favorite day – I love the feeling of a productive weekday, but then realizing it’s the weekend and rewarding myself to a big glass of wine or 2…or 3 🙂
2. Rainy days are hard for me because I’d rather just cozy up and watch Netflix! Or make a big pot of soup! Does cooking count as being active? 🙂
3. Apple pie is hands down my favorite dessert on Thanksgiving! I’ve loved it forever! Surprisingly, I have yet to try pumpkin pie! Matt and I are thinking about maybe making it this year. Let me know if you know of any good recipes!
Thanks Jen! I love your blog as well 🙂 & I’m excited to work with you on the SIMPLY TARALYNN COLLECTION!
I try to do all the photos at night and set them up in order and then write everything in the morning with my coffee before everyone else is awake! The key is to be an early bird:) I put most of the photos in order last night and woke up early to write this morning. Do it when your mind is fresh! & when no one can bother you! Don’t get distracted with emails, Facebook, or tv!
1. Wine is definitely for Fridays!! 🙂
2. I’m so with you on that! Cozy days on rainy days. Cooking totally counts!
3. APPLE PIE IS THE BOMB!! YOUVE NEVER HAD PUMPKIN PIE? It’s seriously amazing. I didn’t eat it until my twenties, but now love it! I’m actually going to try to make it this year! I’ll let you know about the recipe. I’m going to make one on Saturday for Friendsgiving.
Hi Taralynn! 🙂
I have been following your blog for years now and I love all the recepies that you have on here! My boyfriend and I do a new recepie every Friday night and I usually pull from your many creative ideas.
Your Simply Taralynn Collection is so adorable I could literally buy the whole store! I live in Canada though and the shipping is a lot unfortunately so I add them all to my Pinterest Wardrobe lol!
My Favourite day of the week is Friday, I love the excitement of the work day ending and getting to relax and look forward to two days of adventure!
I usually use rainy days as an excuse to be lazy, but it has been raining in Toronto almost everyday for the past two weeks so lets say I have been a little more than milking it.
My favourite dessert is Apple or Pecan pie! We had our thanksgiving last month and I definitely had a bit of both 🙂
I hope everyone in you house is up and healthy soon, but until then enjoy Gotham! I think that is something I have to start watching!
Have a great week!
Ashley 🙂
Thank you Ashley!
I love the idea of trying something new every Friday! I feel like I’ve been cooking less since my boyfriends dad is the master chef! I don’t mind it 😉 Your best bet for shipping is when I have free shipping days! Cyber Monday I’ll be shipping WORLDWIDE free!! 🙂 Hopefully I can get shipping cost down soon as I’m working with a small company now!
Friday is definitely a fave day for me too!
We also just went through the 2 weeks of rain and I hated it. I’m ok with rainy days now and then, but not ALL THE TIME!
PECAN PIE is seriously addicting. I like to make the mini pies with phyllo dough! I used to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with all my Canadian friends from camp 🙂
YES ITS SO GOOD! Start watching it 🙂
xo xo
Taralynn
I loved what you said about keeping faith. I needed that today! It’s hard to remember that when I feel like everything keeps coming at me, but that helped! P.S. I always eat pasta the night before a race, it helps so much!!
Definitely and it’s so hard to keep faith sometimes, but God works in mysterious ways and has a reason behind all the madness.
I heard the pasta is a must before a big race! You’ll have to give me some running tips!xo
I love reading these long recap posts!
Now after seeing all of your delicious food pics I’m starving haha. Those potatoes look SO delicious!
http://www.justbeingbrooklyn.com
Thanks Brooklyn. Those potatoes were so good. I put the leftovers in the freezer so i can eat them alllllll week long! ::)
Do they re-heat well? I would imagine they would become less crispy.
The actually do! If you let them defrost and stick them in, they crisp up just like frozen french fries.
Hi Tara, I really love these posts! It’s inspiring to see how active you are every day and how you find ways to make healthy choices 🙂 reading your blog keeps me on track
To answer your questions, my favourite day is Friday! I stay active in rainy weather by getting my kit on as soon as i’m through my front door after work, if you sit down and start to relax, you never want to get up and go for a run! It’s best just to get it out the way with! I also suffer with stomach trouble on runs, I often get stitches and upper tummy aches, if you can link me to the article or give me some tips that would be super helpful! I’m finding it hard to enjoy my runs when these pains creep up on me half way
Also, I absolutely love the clothes from your shop! They are all my style, but I live in the UK, and am not sure if you ship here and what the prices are? I would love to buy them!
Must try that Starbucks peppermint latte, looks delicious! We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK but I hope you have a great one <3
Thank you :)That means a lot and I love knowing that I’m not just rambling haha (which I kind of am 😉
1. Friday is a great day 🙂 I love it becuase I work at home and it means all my friends are off! I love blogging and working from home most of the time, but I miss being around actually people during the day. I usually live for the weekends and after 6pm!
2. http://www.active.com/nutrition/articles/6-nutrition-tips-to-avoid-stomach-pain is a great post and so is http://www.washingtonian.com/blogs/wellbeing/fitness/8-tips-for-avoiding-runners-stomach.php
If you have any runner questions, you should head over to the blog Runandbehappy.com and she is really good about answering questions and giving advice.
3. Thank you! I definitely ship to UK and you can use the code THANKYOU20 for 20% off which will lower the shipping cost 🙂
The latte is amazing and I had a retry today! xo xo
Thank you so much for the info! I will hopefully be able to purchase a couple of things then!
Fridays are awesome because I work in a 9-5 office role so of course the weekends are very cherished haha!
No problem:)
Love these recap posts Taralynn! Please keep doing them. 🙂
I think it was nice how you shared some of your beliefs in this post. It is a tragedy about Paris, I have been watching the news every morning (which I normally never do). Prayers can bring so much strength.
Are you catholic? I only ask because you called sunday church, mass, and that is the only time ive heard it be used. 🙂
You should do a post sometime on running/walking workouts for beginners…like…running to my car when im late for work is the only running I do beginners. I use to run all the time, but I havnt done it in years since I moved into an apartment, its not a good area to just go outside in, I would have to drive someplace. But any advice on how to start, and an idea for a schedule to start getting in shape would be fabulous!
1. Saturday is probably my favorite day! 🙂 I work a mon-fri job, and Saturdays are usually my stay in the house in my PJs day. I love being able to get a full 8 hours of sleep, wake up slowly, drink coffee while catching up on Hulu, and having the entire day to relax and catch up on projects or cleaning around the house.
2. I definitely use rainy days as an excuse. But I mostly just do indoor workouts, I live in an apartment with limited space, so I have found it hard to think of things to do indoors. I either do some workouts on my wii u fit, or ill do yoga. Any suggestions for indoor workouts?
3. PIE…either pumpkin or apple (although I don’t actually celebrate thanksgiving, but I love the typical “thanksgiving” dishes. Have you ever tried a “carrot casserole” its SO good, tastes very similar to sweet potato casserole. I actually LOVE your apple pie recipe you posted (I believe) last year. I made it with handpicked apples and it was delicious!!
Sorry for a long comment!
<3
Laurel
Hi Laurel!
I will definitely keep doing them. I truly enjoy going back and reflecting on the week. It reminds me of how far I’ve come and all the things I can do to better myself everyday!
& Yes! I am Catholic.
I think it would be fun to do a running post as I am still a beginner. I started out with little bits and have been working my way back up. I used to run so much and didn’t do it the right way, so I injured myself. Now, i’m back at square one and doing it the right way.
1. Your Saturdays sound fantastic! What are you watching on HULU currently?
2. I love the wii fit! Have you played the little penguin game on the iceberg? it’s addicting lol. Plus the wii has zumba, and fun yoga programs!
3. Carrot casserole? That sounds amazing! You should share the recipe with me:) AND Thank you! I LOVE making apple pie, but this year i’m going to attempt a pumpkin pie!!
xo and don’t be sorry I LOVE LOVE the long comments! I feel like it gives me the opportunity to get to know my readers.
Favorite day is Saturday because I can wake up and no that i dont have to be at work! i love drinking coffee and relaxing for a while before getting ready for the day.
I love doing Fitness Blender workouts. theyre free and you can do them at home!
Favorite Thanksgiving dessert is pumpkin cobbler. sooo delicious! and wow i hope my grocery store carries those tortilla chips i want those ginger snap ones!!
That is a pretty popular day to love! & mainly for the same reasons!
I actually love the Fitness Blender workouts too!!
I’ve never had pumpkin cobbler! It sound so good!:) Do you have a recipe for it? They have them on the amazon website, earth fare, and whole foods! DEFINITELY check your local grocery store though!
I love the recap posts! I was literally just scouring pinterest for a cranberry cookie recipe before reading your blog. So I’ll wait for your cookie recipe post instead of chancing it on a random recipe (since your recipe always seem to come out PERFECT when I try them!)
My favorite day of the week is Saturday, because I know I can relax all day knowing I have the following day to prepare for the week ahead.
Rainy days make me less motivated to be active, but I always make a extra effort to get to the gym or do a workout video just to prove the rainy day wrong!
Favorite thanksgiving dessert has to be pumpkin pie! Although sweet potato soufflé is a close second!
Thanks Carly!!
I’ll be posting that first thing in the morning AND MAYBE TONIGHT! I promise you won’t regret this recipe!
1. Saturdays are always relaxing in the Fall and Winter. Summer I’m always out and about. Lately, I’ve been out of town a lot and it feels good to just BE HOME!
2. I like that “prove my rainy day wrong”!
3. I’ve actually never had sweet potato soufflé!
xo xo
I check your blog every day to see when you’ve posted! Ha!
1. Oddly enough – Monday because I don’t work on Mondays and I get to have a leisurely productive day that ends in Dancing With the Stars. And Fridays too. Cause it’s Friday.
2. I am from ND so my problem, like today is SNOWY and WINDY days. And COLD. I didn’t feel like going out to the gym today (Even though it’s literally across the street from my house) so I did an ab workout followed by Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred Level 2 work out. She always kills me. I just have to force myself to work out when I don’t want to because I know I’ll feel better about my day.
3. Anything and everything. Ha! I just love dessert period.
That is amazing 🙂 Sorry for the days when I don’t post. Thank you for being such a loyal reader! Even if I’m the queen of spelling errors and using phrases wrong, it’s nice to know people still like to read! 🙂
1. I love mondays for DWTS too! & Mondays are a great day to have off. Nick works from home on Monday, so it’s fun to bring my work over to his place.
2. SNOWING ALREADY?!?! I remember the snowy days in Iowa, Chicago, and Detroit!…I don’t miss it. We get like one snowy day a year here and that’s enough for me. It was 77 degrees today………:)
3. I’m with you on that one!
xo xo
1. I love how you keep things upbeat and positive here.
2. I also love how understanding you are – not just of other people but of their situations as well.
3. I am married to an Iowa guy, so I’ve had fun keeping up with the Hawkeyes this year. 10-0, woo hoo!
4. I recently made your Sweet Garlic Roasted Red Potatoes for my 15 year old stepson and he loved them! I went a little heavy on the brown sugar which is probably why they were extra good.
5. I always love the dog pics. They are so cute!
1. Thank you Julie! There is enough negativity in the world already.
2. I just try to put myself in that person’s shoes and treat those as I’d like to be treated! Life is so much happier when you’re kind to others. It’s seriously contagious. The other day someone I didn’t know said I looked pretty, and it just made my day, so I told someone I didn’t know that they looked pretty. It’s a ripple effect.
3. YOU MARRIED A GOOD ONE!! 🙂 GO HAWKEYES!!! Have you been to the Iowa City campus yet?
4. lol crazy how brown sugar changes everything! It makes it crispy and glazed :)Try them on bell peppers!
5. THANK YOU:) I can get carried away with them!
xo and thank you for commenting!
I’ve been reading your blog for years now and just wanted to thank you; For being yourself and staying true to yourself no matter what ugly comments you get. For being authentic. For being such an inspirational person. For being there. Simply for being there. It just feels like I have this ‘friend’ on the other side of the world that I look so forward to hearing from.
I’m from Germany and if you ever happen to come to Heidelberg it would be my pleasure to show you around and give some of the joy back that your posts have added to my life. 🙂
1. What is your favorite day of the week and why?
Definitely Saturday since on sundays all the shops are closed in Germany.
2. How do you stay active on rainy days?
I put my favourite music on, dance in front of my mirror, repeat some choreographys and stretch.
3. What is your favorite dessert on Thanksgiving?
Banoffee <3
Thank you Patricia!
You have no idea how much that means to me. It’s not always easy putting yourself out there for the entire world to judge and analyze. But, through all the bad parts, I wouldnt trade it for the world. I love the support system, I love getting to know people all over the world, and it makes me happy. I went to Germany for an afternoon once 😉 (while i was in strasburg france) and loved it. I’m hoping to get back over there soon. I’m also sending my prayers your way and praying you’re safe during the tragedies going on over there.
1. I forgot about the shops being closed on Sundays! I’d go crazy if it were like that over here. I love going to church, breakfast and then antique shopping 🙂
2. You’re kind of my favorite person now. I definitely did the dance cardio in my living room two days ago…:D
3. Banoffee…I forgot about this…thank you for reminding me!
I love your recap posts!!
That meal looks amazing. I am always hesitant to buy fresh salmon because I have no idea how to cook it. I’ll have to try your recipe!
My favorite day of the week is Sunday. I love going to church and just hanging at home the rest of the day. I do a lot of baking too. 🙂
I like to take my dog for a walk on rainy days. She loves the rain for some reason haha. Or I’ll do a yoga video in my room!
Favorite Thanksgiving dessert… either pumpkin or apple pie!!
DTWS… I am so excited for the finale! I’m with you on Bindi and Derek. But I’ll be happy with whoever wins!
Thanks MEL!
Salmon used to make me so nervous, but I think it’s SO easy to make!
1. You and I have the same favorite day for the same reason!
2. Grumples loves rainy days and Tino will hold himself all day until we force him out the door. He hates rain.
3. Pumpkin pie can’t do ya wrong!
Me tooooooo:) Carlos and Whitney will probably be off next week!
I bet the pasta helped your run. I always eat a big bowl before races. They are good for extended energy. My mom went through so much pasta when my brother and I were in HS between track, XC, and soccer!
1. My favorite day is Saturday. I get to see my parents and my husband and our friends actually get a chance to hang out.
2. On yucky days I usually do Elle Fits “Get Bendy” stretch guide for a nice long stretching session. I will still run if it isn’t too bad. I enjoy running in the cold and even light rain.
3. My favorite Thanksgiving dessert is strawberry rhubarb pie. This year though I am going to make your apple crisp! My father in law will love it.
I don’t know how people who do not eat carbs can run! I live off them! You guys are definitely a running family! 🙂
1. I love a day where I can just “hang out” especially with family and that’s why I love Sunday so much! My life is very GO GO GO and sometimes I just want to NOT.
2. I’ll have to look into those! I hate cold running ;(
3. Funny you should say your favorite is strawberry rhubarb pie. It reminds me so much of my Grandpa. I never liked it unless he made it…and he would grow the rhubarb right in his backyard. It made the holidays and his baking so special. I wish he was around so I could brag about him on the blog more! You will LOVE that crisp! My family and my boyfriends family loved it!
xo xo
i love your wood bowls, where are they from??
Sounds like a week full of ups and downs, such is life eh?
cheers,
Nicole
Most of them are from Homegoods/tjmaxx and target! Thank you 🙂
xo
1. My absolute favorite day of the week is Sunday! I work 8-5 M-F, Saturdays are my day to do errands/food-prep for the upcoming week, and Sundays are the one day I can relax and I try really hard not to leave the house! I love cuddling on the couch with Netflix (I’m currently finishing 90210, and going to start American Horror Story: Freak Show!!) P.S. Jane the Virgin… A MUST WATCH because it’s HILARIOUS!
2. I love to do Blogilates videos when it’s icky outside or I don’t feel like leaving the house! I get such a good workout from her videos.. and I have a hard time with videos to begin with because I get bored with them! So liking her videos says a lot for me!
3. Apple pie… all the way!
Thank you for being awesome. I’m so jealous you live in NC now.. I’ve been following your blog since ’12. I used to visit Sunset Beach/Southport every year when we were little. It’s my favorite place in the world! My dream is to move out to NC one day. Just like Patricia said.. it’s like I have a friend that I’ve never met! You’ve helped me out so much through your posts and telling your story. I hope to visit Charlotte some day soon as well! If you ever would be interested in a meet-up that would be incredible!
Take care, and I look forward to your next post!
xo Jennifer
LOVED 90210!! I watched that a while back when I lived in Chicago. When the kids would go to school for a couple hours a day I’d watch it on my laptop! (I was a nanny) I really need to watch American Horror story after Gotham! I heard it is so so good. Plus, I’m a huge Emma Roberts fan and I heard she was in it! She’s currently killing her role in Scream Queens! I just started watching Jane The Virgin the other day while I was studying! I’m on episode three!
Blogilates is awesome and I love Cassie’s blog! I like Jillian Michael’s on youtube!:)
APPLE PIE FOR THE WIN!
& Thank you for being such a loyal reader. It’s crazy to think that I’ve been bloggin so long. I actually thought it would have come to an end by now, but I may keep it around for a couple more years or so. It has it’s ups and downs. Southport is amazing! I did a post on it a couple times and those photos might bring back those memories! Charlotte is such a wonderful place too and I’m so happy I found a place to call “home”. 🙂

1. SATURDAY! IM A HAWKEYE FAN TOO!
2. I DON’T WORKOUT ON RAINY DAYS 🙁
3. I LOVE PUMPKIN PIE! & YOUR APPLE PIE!
GO HAWKEYES!!!!!!!
1. I would say Sundays, because my husband and I almost always make a late brunch, do our weekly shopping together and then spend the afternoons in a coffee shop working on our projects/homework. It’s all about relaxing and spending time together.
2. I could totally use tips because I’m usually the worst about working out when the weather is bad. Right now I’m living in California so almost 90% of the time it’s sunny and warm so it’s less of an issue but if it’s rainy or cold? Forget about being active. I’m super lethargic those days as a result.
3. Always pumpkin pie, but I’m non-dairy so I have to bake the pie and sometimes the results are not pretty. One year somehow I skipped the step of adding sugar and it was really gross. Maybe this year I’ll do your apple crisp – it looked amazing!
I want to echo on some earlier comments, I’ve been following your blog for many years and you always inspire me. I love the recap posts, your pups, and your poise when responding when the scum of the internet causes you problems. Keep it up.
That sounds like the PERFECT Sunday! I wish we had a coffee shop like the one I go to in Waxhaw closer so I could do projects there often 🙂 This time of year, we are consumed with football…lol
Ugh, so jealous. California is actually on my bucket list. Hope I can go there soon 🙂 & I want to visit the ENTIRE state! I’m just like you on cold/rainy days. I’ve been learning to “love” the treadmill.
Haha you sound like me when it comes to making the baking mistakes. I made chocolate chip cookies without butter once……..The apple crisp is so yummy and perfect for non-dairy!You can also use coconut oil instead of butter.
& THANK YOU SO MUCH for the kind words. It’s not always easy to comment back gracefully. I’m trying. I realllllly am! xo
You need to get the Hang and Level Hanging Tool. My son just moved and had a group of photos similar to yours and said it was the best invention ever. He said they sell them everywhere. He got his at target. It’s a yellow rectangle shape. You can google it!!! Love your blog!!
Ugh I need to get that ASAP! hahaha. I placed them where I wanted and need my dad to hang them. I’M THE WORST AT HANGING ANYTHING! I’ll go check out Target 🙂 Thank you so much for the rec.
Hey! I really liked the way you handled the Starbucks situation. More people need to be understanding and realize that letting something go is better than complaining. Go you!
1. My favorite day is probably Saturday. My husband and I usually do something fun that day.
2. I do housework on rainy days. Cleaning usually gets my heart rate up so I consider that staying active.
3. I really don’t like pie unless it’s a chocolate type of pie. I know that’s not a traditonal flavor but, oh well I like it. I suppose I don’t mind pumpkin pie though. It just needs to come with a lot of whipped cream! 😉
Thanks Kelly!:) I worked at a coffee shop in high school, so I know what it’s like. I’ll never forget the kind ones!
1. It’s nice you get to spend time with your husband Saturday 🙂
2. Cleaning is a great workout!
3. Cookies n Cream pie is amazing! You should try that.
Just wanted to tell you that I read every blog, you inspire me to keep going even when your not perfect. I have been feeling very frumpy lately, I know this will pass, it has been with me for a 2 months. I have read that u feel the same sometimes but keep moving on. Thank you and keep blogging
Thanks Tanya!
We all go through the “frumpy” feeling! Just try to pick yourself back up! I love the song “THATS LIFE” by Frank Sinatra! Listen to it 🙂
Thanks for replying. Shows you actually read and care about your readers.
You’re welcome! 🙂 xo
Hi!
Glad to know you keep things upbeat. 🙂 That’s nice. But remember– it’s okay to post when you’re having a bad day to. No one judges you– if anything it makes you a more relatable blogger. Don’t feel pressured to keep a smile on all the time– you readers will keep reading!
Thanks Lizzie 🙂 & you’re right! xo
I LOVE that you are answering every single comment. I’m a new blogger (almost a year!) with a very small readership but I’ve been following you for awhile and you are definitely an inspiration! 🙂 Thanks for all of your posts – recaps, recipes, and everything in between! Your photography is also getting really good too!!!
1. I’m definitely a Friday girl. The excitement of a weekend ahead and then coming home from work and getting ready for the night is my FAVORITE feeling. Love having a glass of wine and playing music loudly while I get dressed!
2. I actually just joined a gym about 15 minutes from my house a few weeks ago – with a long commute and a workday that ends after it’s already dark out, I needed somewhere safe to run! That’s where I’ll go when it rains too.
3. Tie: Pumpkin pie / my cousin’s homemade cookies (she has a custom cookie business and they are seriously amazing – both in taste and design!)
Thank you Jacqui!
Keep the blogging up if you love it and you’ll definitely gain a readership in time;) & thank you for all the kind words! I’m going to make sure to check out your blog 🙂
1. I love those kind of Friday nights as well!
2. I think gyms are pretty necessary in the winter! I used to stick the the gym when I lived in Chicago and Detroit! Down here, I can pretty much workout outside!
3. How lucky are you!? Free Cookies! 🙂 I’m excited to make pumpkin pie this year!
xo
You’re the sweetest! I appreciate the encouragement 🙂 If you ever make it to Philly during your travels, we should organize a blogger meetup! I know there are other girls up here who’d love to meet you too!
That sounds like a plan, lady!! xo
I just loved this post. It is so great seeing how other women out there are living their everyday lives. The little things are always the ones I find most interesting.
Thanks again for sharing!
Sarah
http://www.sefoster8.blogspot.ca
Thank you Sarah! Your blog has me in the Christmas spirit! 🙂 xo
Love these recap posts. I like sitting back with a cup of tea to read your blog! This one lasted me my whole cup 🙂
1. My favourite day of the week is Saturday. I like being able to sleep in a bit (usually around 8), get up, and be lazy with a cup of coffee. It’s beautiful because I have that whole day to do what I want and I don’t have to worry about school on Monday!
2. I usually clean my apartment or go to the climbing gym. Sometimes I go for walks at Walmart :p
3. This thanksgiving I made a pumpkin pie from scratch and it was amazing. I don’t usually like pie, but a slice of pumpkin pie with whipped cream on thanksgiving is perfect
Thank you Chelsea! After I sit back with a cup of coffee to write the post, I love sitting back with my cup of coffee and talking to you all! 🙂
1. Sleeping in is 8 o’clock for me too! I haven’t been able to sleep past it. I love Saturday too 🙂
2. A climbing gym sounds fun 🙂 or mall walking!
3. I’m going to make pumpkin pie from scratch this year as well! I better go grab some pumpkin before it’s all off the shelves! Do you have a recipe?
🙂 xo
Hey Taralynn, long-time reader of the site here! Question for you, what electronics do you use to make your juices? Do you use a regular old blender or an actual juice or one of those fancy Vitamix’s? Thanks!
Hi Gracie!
I use the cuisine art! CJE-1000 Die-Cast Juice Extractor
>
I hope you post those cranberry cookies soon! Also, I think I saw you the other day at EarthFare! I really like your dark hair.
Was it Saturday? 🙂 I was there! & thank you!!
I just posted the cookies! It’s on the main page under recipes! xo
Never apologize for living your life. Your blog is for YOU! 🙂 Love your recap posts! Anyway, here are my answers to your Three Questions…1. My favorite day of the week is Saturday. Because you’re done with the week and you still have Sunday to relax. 2. I stay active on rainy days by having a “dance party” in my living room to my favorite songs. I usually dance for a good 15-20 minutes and I’ve lost weight doing this – plus it’s super fun! 3. My favorite dessert on Thanksgiving is Pumpkin Pie with Whipped Cream 🙂 Hope Nick feels better.
Thanks Jenny & you’re right!
1. Saturdays are definitely for the win!
2. You can’t go wrong with a dance party! The WII has the best one!
3 Pumpkin pie and homemade whipped cream are on my list to make this year!
Nick is feeling better but unfortunately I think it’s my turn…..ugh.
Hi Taralynn! I know you eat a lot of salmon, so I am very interested in your opinion. How do you feel about the new USDA news? Do you think you think you will continue to eat salmon even if there are no regulations on labeling salmon genetically modified?
Oh, and those potatoes look BOMB! I will be making them this weekend!
Hi Courtney!
I hate that there could be no regulations. I’ll be paying VERY VERY close attention as to where my salmon comes from. I usually buy mine from Earthfare!
Enjoy the taters!!
I love reading your recap posts too! So don’t stop! You also inspire me to try to make blogging my “career”.
P.S. Are your lashes real? What mascara do you use? They are so long and pretty!
Thank you so much Ashlee! Create the life you love 🙂
My eye lashing are real 🙂 I was kind of blessed with long ones! My brothers are longer than mine…….I use a mixture of all different ones! Right now I’m using “IT COSMETICS”.
XO
Girl, you’re awesome. I’m glad you’re using this awesome platform to tell others about your faith in God. Keep it up, and let me know if you’re ever in Nebraska. One of the best vegan/health restaurants ever is hidden in Omaha, called Modern Love, and I’d love to treat you to their amazing food and sangria. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you Dani! I get nervous talking about God a lot becuase of the negative comments now and then, but I should ever fear it. Thanks for the reminder! xo
Modern Love sounds like my kind of place!! I’ll let you know if I’m ever in Omaha! 🙂 It’s only 4 hours from my hometown! xo Have a great weekend!
Hey Taralynn!
This is my first time ever commenting and I have been following you for years!! I just wanted to say Hi and that you are a true inspiration to me. In this world of crazy its nice to know that there are people like you out in this world. No one is perfect and that is what I love about your blog. You never try to be someone you are not and I think that is AWESOME! keep it up girl!
1. My favorite day of the week would be Thursday. Just because there is so much anticipation for the weekend.
2. I LOVE rainy days. It always makes me want to drink coffee and stay in bed cuddled with my puppy. But, getting out and walking in the mall is always my go to if I feel like I need to get out. Plus shopping never hurt anyone!
3. I don’t really do desert on Thanksgiving. However, after dinner is over we always make sandwiches with the left overs. That is my favorite!
Hi Mandi!
Thank you so much for reading all these years and for commenting!! I love getting to know my readers. Thank you for the kind words also, that means so so so so much! Little reminders like that change my entire day around. You are such a great person!
1. I’ve never heard of Thursday being a favorite day, but it makes total sense!
2. Mall walking 😉 My kinda girl! My grandpa used to be a HUGE mall walker!!
3. I think I’m going to try to make a leftover quiche this Thanksgiving!! Does that sound weird? I love experimenting.
Have a great Thanksgiving!
Hi Tara! Loved hearing what you have been up to lately. It seems everyone is getting sick 🙁
I have a feeling it’s happening to me too! 🙁 I usually don’t get sick…ugh.
I made this salmon last night and it was the best I’ve ever had. The potatoes were so good and my three year old son ate more than I did!
So glad he liked them!!! & you!
As always, I love your posts! When I get busy with school and work it’s so nice to read your blog and stay motivated! I love all of your posts that include home decor. I’ve taken a lot of pictures and I really want to make them into prints like you did! From where/how did you order them?! Plus I love when you post pictures of Mr. Grumples and Tino! 🙂 Once I graduate in May I am going to get a puppy. I can’t decide if I should find a breeder or rescue. I love how you have done both!
1. I can’t pick just one favorite day of the week! I’m in nursing school and have my day off from class and clinical on Wednesdays, but I love Saturdays as well! I usually go home and hangout with my parents on Wednesdays. It’s so nice to have a break in the middle of a busy week. On Saturdays I love to wake up early, make a nice breakfast, take my dog on a walk, bake, and catch up on my favorite tv shows!
2. Sometimes it can be hard to stick to my workouts on rainy days. Rainy days are perfect to just stay inside and be lazy. I like to just run on the treadmill or do yoga on rainy days because I don’t need to leave my house.
3. I love apple pie or sweet potato casserole on thanksgiving. They aren’t pumpkin desserts, but they are the best!
Thank you Ashlee! I’ll be doing a post on all my wall prints sometime next week 🙂 I LOVE LOVE LOVE Grumples os so so much, but I would definitely go with a rescue. Tino is such a great dog. You can find lots of rescue dogs that are your favorite breeds too!
1. Your Saturdays sound so relaxing!!
2. Yoga is a popular one on rainy days 🙂
3. Apple pie is amazing 🙂
xo xo
Love your blog! I read it every day when I eat breakfast and it keeps me motivated to be healthy when I really don’t feel like it 😉 Just wanted to say thanks for sharing your faith and your life!
1, I love Sundays because it’s day for church and family and food and, last but not least, The Walking Dead!
2. When I can’t exercise outside I’ll put in a movie and alternate between burpees and jumping jacks in my living room. Not the most attractive workouts, but they certainly get the job done lol
3. My favorite dessert on Thanksgiving is Spiced Apple Bundt cake with cinnamon glaze! It absolutely melts in your mouth and makes the whole house smell like fall 🙂
Thanks Melissa! I usually write my blogs during breakfast 😉 xo
1. Sundays are my fave too! Church, Football, Breakfast, and just relaxing!
2. That sounds like a great idea for an indoor workout.
3. That dessert sounds amazing……..especially right now!!
Hi
I love your recap posts, I’ve been following your posts since 17 did an article on you.. “The Girl In The Green Dress. You ar
Hi Taralynn,
Great post!! I can NOT wait to try out your Apple Crisp recipe.. hopefully THAT will become my new favorite Thanksgiving Day dessert! I have been following your blog since Undressed Skeleton days and I really have always enjoyed, and enjoyed even more watching you grow as a person and a writer. 🙂
Here are my answers to your questions:
1) I have a weird work schedule. My “weekends” are Tuesday/Wednesday. I love Tuesdays, I have the entire day to myself, and end it every night with my boyfriend at a local movie theater for $5 Movie Night!! WHAT!!!So if you need a movie review, I’m your girl 😉
2) Depending on the temperature (I live in Colorado) I usually embrace the rain and dress appropriately for a rainy run. It helps me remember the simple times of when I was little and played in the rain.
3) My mom makes this INCREDIBLE raspberry jello that has clementine, walnuts, cranberries, and apples in it. We call it our “Cranberry Mold” that people actually enjoy!
Have a great weekend, and keep up the posts!
Cheers,
Mal
I have no doubt that it WILL become one of your favorites!! 🙂 This weekend, I’m making a blueberry version with icing! Thank you so much for the kind words about my blog 🙂 Crazy how much we change!
1. Ugh! I LOVE the movies and I feel as if I don’t go nearly enough! Maybe when it gets colder here, I’ll go more 🙂 I want to see Goosebumps AND all the new Christmas movies out! & I always take suggestions!
2. I would imagine the rainy days in colorado are prettttty dang cold, but you’re used to that 😉 I used to play in the rain religiously! My brother and I would jump on the trampoline! One time we got in so much trouble becuase we put soap all over it…lol
3. That sounds incredible!!! I’ve never even heard of something like that!
xo
Hey
I love the recap posts and your blog, I’ve been following you since your 17 magazine incert the girl in the green dress. While I have a ways to go u def motivate me to get healthier.
1) fav day used to b Saturdays since it was the day me and my dad hung out together. But I work nights on weekends so I can’t do it as much but hopefully I’ll b able to do so soon
2) you should try trampoline gyms like rebounderez or other ones! I promise they are for adults too. I’m 30 and I go there. I would do it more but the closest one is over an hr away.
You are such a positive person, and give off great energy. I can see why you are a popular person.
If you come to nyc again we should meet up
Lauren
Hey Lauren 🙂
Thank you so much!
1. Hopefully you get those weekends off soon! xo
2. UM TRAMPOLINE GYMS ARE SO MUCH FUN! I did a workout class and it was so so so hard! I live so close to one too.
Thank you so much for the kind words and I’ll definitely let you know if I go to NYC again 🙂
Hey Taralynn! I’ve been a silent reader of your blog from halfway around the world(India), for the past 3 years! Followed your journey right from when you used to post sugarfree strawberry Jell-o + carrot recipes , to now, when you’re such a role model for an active lifestyle. I’ve struggled with my weight for years, and when you wrote your honest post about body image issues and struggle, I cried. Sure, there are lots of health and lifestyle bloggers in India, but there’s noone who Is so honest and authentic. I hope you continue your blogging journey, and if you ever do make it to India (New Delhi, the capital) I’d love to meet you and show you around! I had one question about blogging- I’ve been wanting to set up my own travel blog (i’ve visited over 23 countries and 57 cities) but I don’t have any tech knowledge about coding. How did you get your site to look so good? the free wordpress templates really bore me!
Sorry, if my post got carried away. Here are my 3 replies!
1. Favourite Day- Definitely Sat. Its relaxed after a week of crazy work, it involves meeting friends.going to the movies and hanging around the house so its always special
2. Rainy days workout- I don’t! (shameful, yes) but once its too cold or too rainy, i’m usually snuggled at home or will walk on the treadmill for a bit
3. Fav dessert- we don’t have thanksgiving in India. but my all time favourite dessert is English banoffee pie. (banana+toffee_caramel) try it!
Much love from India xx
Alia,
I think it is so cool to have readers from all over the world. Thank you for commenting 🙂
I definitely know what it is like to struggle with weight and feel the pressure to be a certain size. It’s about getting out of the mindset and making progress for yourself and becuase you want to, not becuase we THINK we have to.
I do love blogging and will probably continue for another couple of years 🙂 We’ll see! It’s strange to think what a life without blogging would be like. I will definitely let you know if I ever make it to India. It would be so cool to have someone local show me around- especially a well traveled girl like you! You are so inspiring.
If you want to put together a blog and don’t know much about coding, I highly recommend hiring someone to help you put it together until you get the hang of it!
1. I love Saturdays too and yours sound like fun!
2. It’s not shameful to not workout on rainy days! I think it’s relaxing to hang around the house.
3. I am for SURE going to try that dessert!! xo xo xo
Thank you for commenting and please keep in touch! Let me know when you have your blog up and running, I’d love to become a reader! xo
Dear Taralynn, I just wanted to let you know, you are truly making this world a better place. Every time I need some motivation about food, working out and mostly when I need to cope with not so happy moments, your blog with funny and wise posts make me feel like not giving up 🙂 I definitely think you are helping people all around world and maybe you don’t even know about it… I just wish you the best and hope your dreams will come true <3
Thank you so much Jitka! You have no idea how much that means to me. Sometimes, blogging isn’t easy and it’s nice to know that I can make a difference in at least ONE person’s life. I hope you realize how awesome you are! Keep on pushing through the tough moments, because you’re meant to be on top! xo xo xo xo
1. My favorite day is Sunday…It’s the one day that I always put aside to relax and catch up from the week with a good ‘Sunday breakfast’ of waffles and coffee 🙂
2. Even though I do have an elliptical, I enjoy just doing a bunch of cleaning if it raining on the weekend. It keeps me active and constantly moving.
3. Favorite dessert..that is hard but I do like pumpkin pie and my grandma’s favorite apple pie.
PS: I love your recap posts. Especially love your honesty about life and how it isn’t perfect everyday. It’s good to see that you are like everybody else, normal. 🙂
Thank you for the kind words Karen!
1.Sunday is my favorite day too. I’m currently sitting in bed with my coffee, watching T.V., and relaxing in my PJ’s before church. There is something so relaxing about it. I usually love going out to breakfast on Sunday, but today Nick brought me breakfast in bed 🙂 You have me wanting waffles now!
2. I like doing things around the house on rainy days too.
3. Pie is a pretty good thanksgiving treat! I really like blackberry or blueberry pie! I’m nervous to make pumpkin pie this year, but hopefully it turns out!
I hope you have a great Thanksgiving! xo xo
My mom and I were down at Michaels and Caribou yesterday and I thought of you when we walked past the new juice bar. haha.
I love that you have started talking about your Mass sermons lately. Awesome!
And I always love pictures of Grumples and Tino. Too stinkin’ cute every time!
I was literally just there Friday! 😀 I had a caribou coffee! 🙂
XO XO
I just wanted to comment to say that I LOVE hearing you speak about God. It’s amazing because we are of two completely different religions and have probably been raised on opposite doctrines but you speak of His love and his sovereignty, and I know we’re sisters of the same God.
Paris is such a tragedy and I am so burdened by the suffering of the victims. I am also burdened by the suffering of the victims in every country that is in conflict right now! My heart breaks for the families in Syria and other areas of the Middle East where MY country is attacking and dropping bombs 🙁 I wish there was something I could do but maybe all I can do is pray. I know God will soften the hearts of those that are inflicting others and, since Jesus died for all sinners, – not just English speaking ones! – I know He can save the extremists too. Praying for my enemies as well as my brothers and sisters.
Lots of love xxxx
Thank you Sara! Everything you’ve said is true. The best thing you can do right now is pray 🙂 Trust in God and his path for us.
These are my favorite posts from you!
🙂 Thank you!
First of all I would like to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I’ve had a difficult time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Appreciate it!|
