Feel better!! We all go through rough times. I had a really bad class a couple of days ago (I’m a teacher). I kept thinking, “What just happened?” I had been so happy and suddenly because of just one bad class, my mood just plummeted. But you can pick yourself up and move forward. Hang in there. If you don’t mind my asking, is it school? It can be challenging to adjust to studying, especially if you haven’t done it for years. It does take some adjusting, but YOU CAN DO IT!! 🙂
I’m rooting for you… Team Tara, all the way!
PS – Great song choice!
I know you like to keep your personal life private, I don’t blame you. But maybe if you kept it vague and just alluded to what was going on we could help you. Your blog doesn’t have to be a one way street…
Like mention a theme: college is bumming me out. OR relationship issue OR friend issue OR sick parent
PS – You mentioned, “I can’t depend on anyone to find it for me; it’s all up to me.” That’s not entirely true. The more people you speak to, the more you discover about everything. You know that expression about people being there for a lesson, a season or a lifetime. Well, people teach us stuff. They guide us. Sometimes, it’s just two ships passing in a night. Other times, it’s more long term.
In any case, have faith that GOD has a plan for you.
Thinking of you! I feel lost a lot of the time and each new day is a new opportunity to find what I am supposed to be doing. I hope you know how influential you are to many young women (hey 24 is still young, right?) and that we’re all just looking for some guidance too. Take all the time you need, like you said it is okay to not be okay. Happiness is what we all want but the struggle to get there is what makes us who we are.
Praying for you and that everything gets worked out quickly and smoothly. We all go through these seasons. They always suck but life is so much better on the other side. You’ve got a community on here rooting for you too! 🙂
Life sucks sometimes and really does kick you down but know that your e-friends got your back! I feel like you’re apart of life because I read and check your blog daily! Take time for yourself and know that we are all here waiting for you or to offer support! In the meantime, here is a horrible joke 😉
How do you know if a chef is a clown?
The food tastes funny.
Awww. I’m so sorry things are not looking too great right now. Sometimes life just plain sucks, doesn’t it? You are so right– sometimes it’s okay to say you’re not okay. That’s how we work past issues, by allowing ourselves to FEEL our emotions. If we suppress them, serious things can happen like depression, anxiety, etc. etc. But I’m sure you know about that already. Just remember that You are ALWAYS enough, no matter what other people may say. GOD knows the intentions of your heart and as long as you are doing the best you can given your current circumstances, that’s all that matters. I’ve been following your blog for years and through your bravery of sharing your struggles with an eating disorder/tons of other crap that you’ve had to deal with in your life already, you’ve helped me through some rough patches. Just be your awesome self, don’t let other people discourage you because anyone who tries to belittle you just to make themselves feel better can go to Hell. 🙂 I hope things look up for you soon. Just know that after all the stuff you’ve had to go through in your life already, you can get through this, too. You have so many people who love and are rooting for you!
Hang in there, Taralynn! It might seem silly, but I always read the “Desiderata” in times of stress and depression, and it really helps. (In fact, I have it posted on my cubicle at work, and I look at it every day.) http://www.sfheart.com/desiderata.html
I’ve felt very similarly lately. I’m just sort of in a funk and searching for what makes me happy. Thinking of you on your journey-one I understand all too well!
Isiah 41:10 “Do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strenthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Joshus 1:9 “Be strong and couragious; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”
Jeremiah 29:11 ” For I know the plans I have for you declairs the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope”
Isiah 40:29 “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak”
Stay stong and positive!

I am so sorry for this rough week!
Keep your chin up! You have so many admirers, people who have never met you who talk about you like you’re their best friend, including my sister and I! Ha! You have created something wonderful with your life and a way for others to follow, keep on keeping on!
So first of all, this song always reminds me of the movie Casper. The one with Christina Ricci and Bill Pullman when they’re in the car in the beginning and he’s singing along to it and she turns the radio off.
Anyway, I have been following your blog for almost three years and you are such an inspiration. You’ve made sacrifices to get yourself healthy and continue to live a healthy lifestyle and make good choices for you. I’ve gone through some less than easy times in my life when I was struggling financially while working 40 hours a week and trying to finish my Master’s degree.
Then, last summer I moved back home to Wisconsin (I had been attending grad school in Iowa) and everything sort of fell into place and I am at a very good place in my life now, relationship and careerwise and it is nice to be close to my family again. But, even when everything seems to be in place, there are still things that get thrown at you to remind you to be grateful for everything and for your strength.
Sorry, I’m kind of babbling but just wanted to let you know that even though I do not know exactly how you are feeling, as a reader I feel for you and wish you the best. I know you will get through this even though it is hard to keep on right now.
Oh Taralynn- I truly understand. I hope you read this- it’s long I know. Whether my life is crumbling around me or everything looks as though I should be the happiest girl ever- there is still a gnawing that shows up that is unexplainable. One night I was scouring the internet looking for any kind of encouragement or enlightment & I found the website lightisthenewblack.com and my life is changing. It’s a book. Nothing happens overnight- I struggle daily with actually finding what makes me feel happy, worthy, & fulfilled but this book is jaw droppingly cosmic. I, too, am a Christian & it coincides with my Faith in the most bizarre way. Don’t let the new age’y’ vibe of certain things steer you away. I’m extremely discerning & this is spot on. I can’t explain it other than it’s like coming home. Please download the first chapter for free!! I hesitated leaving this comment but I feel like it could be for you too. I will post come quotes down below. If you want or need a partner on this journey don’t hesitate to email me or whatever. I feel like we’re weirdly kindreds haha
“The sooner you step up into the greater most authentic version of you, the sooner your fears will dissipate, the sooner your concerns will begin to fade, the sooner life will bend towards you. The more you will flow with life. You are already whole and complete, why do you resist what you are? The more you lean into yourself and spend your time being rather than doing in order to be, the sooner you can be supported beyond your wildest dreams. And you will be supported.”
“You wander from room to room. Hunting for the diamond necklace that is already around your neck”- Rumi
“the ego trusts that we are separate and go though life alone. The soul trusts that we are al connected and thus never really alone. The universe trusts that the ego will get lonely and listen to the soul.”
“I realized the only reason I felt unsupported was because I wasn’t supporting myself. The only reason I felt alone was because I had ignored the callings of my soul. And for the first time I was able to see beyond the devastation and truly feel the bountiful light of Grace. I was learning, and yet also remembering who I truly was. Like the depths of me who already knew were saying, Yes, yes this way. I experienced a coming home to my authentic self, different from ever before, and I felt my soul cheer”.
Remember Taralynn that the cracks are where the light gets in!!
I don’t know you, but I enjoy reading your blog and trying some of the places you suggest.
I hope you are not depressed about school- I’ve been reading your blog more regularly hoping you would discuss it more (but I understand why you don’t). I’m a nontraditional student though a little older than you and I’m impressed by your choice to go back. It’s tough to go back especially when facing it on your own as an adult.
Whatever your problems are please know you’re not alone! Look at the support you have from your readers! Beating your challenges on your own is one thing but don’t force yourself to be alone. Let your friends and family help even if it’s just by listening to you.
Hey girl,
I hope all is well for you! I have been sending prayers and a rosary your way! I hope that you’re doing okay and just know that there are tons of people out there who love and are hoping the best for you no matter the situation!
xo

I hope you’ll feel better soon. Just know that you’re not alone in this, look how many people are there for you. Things do get better, just be patient with yourself.
I hope things get better soon! I’ve recently discovered a song called On My Way by Charlie Brown (not the cartoon lol) and it’s very empowering. I listen to it multiple times a day 🙂
