I try to grocery shop once a week so that I’m never stuck in a “omg there is nothing to eat so lets order pizza” situation. I also love grocery shopping; it’s not a chore for me. Making a list, finding the item, and checking it off is a little accomplishment. Walking through the aisles is therapeutic. I have a little OCD when it comes to lining things up, and the rows at the grocery store are usually stacked to perfection. One time I spent 3 1/2 hours organizing my boyfriend’s mom’s snack cabinet. Having teenage boys raiding through the cabinet everyday can take a toll on it. It’s do for a another session. Now that I’ve admitted my weird grocery store obsession, I should probably get to the groceries.
I always crave fresh food in the summer and so those are my go-to items on the grocery list. I like fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, juices, and grilled chicken. I usually buy eggs, strawberries, apples, bell peppers, onion, potatoes, and other farm fresh vegetables at the farmer’s market up the road.
Yesterday I bought: Lettuce, Spring Mix, Pineapple, Plums, Almonds, Turkey Breast, Chicken, Kale, Bananas, Avocado, Bananas, and a couple of fresh drinks.
I plan on grilling up the chicken and adding it to salads with almonds, avocado, dried cranberries, feta, and strawberries.
I love making my own dressings, but I tried the salad dressing Fresh Avocado Vinaigrette at a friends house and fell in love. Now, I need to figure out how to make my own dressing that is similar.
I bought some Suja juice, Sparkling probiotic apple kale, which is delicious, and cucumber mint sparking water, also very good!

I just love your table! That is the first thing i noticed in all of your pictures, when the table is in it. I know you have said this probably countless times, but did you make it or where did you buy it!?
Taralynn McNitt says
My dad and I made it together! He’s actually been making and selling them all over now!
Jen says
Does your Dad have a website for these beautiful tables??
Taralynn McNitt says
He doesn’t but if you’re interested, you can email me taralynnmcnitt@gmail.com and I can get you in contact with him. He’s been making them locally.

There’s no such thing as a ‘little OCD’
Taralynn McNitt says
ok, well, a pet peeve.
Shellie says
As a mental health clinician there are definitely varying levels of OCD so if someone describes their level as a “little OCD” who cares. Some people like to be super organized but others might not see that as OCD while other people have severe OCD and have trouble leaving their house without completing their rituals first. So if someone wants to say that have a “little OCD” that is perfectly fine. They are acknowledging that they have some oddities in their behavior which is pretty brave.

I definitely have a little case of OCD. It’s a real thing.

I completely agree with Kathrin. OCD is a serious mental illness. I was diagnosed with OCD five years and it has been very difficult to overcome. You should really think twice you call yourself “a little OCD”.
Taralynn McNitt says
When I was 19 years old, the reason I was taking prozac was to control my OCD with eating and anxiety. Maybe it’s not OCD with lining things up, but I do know what it feels like and I’ve dealt with it before/still do.

I definitely need to get better at meal planning because I get caught in that “oh I have no food let’s go out and get something from Sonic” trap way too frequently!

That’s a good summer-y grocery list. I really want to start getting some fresher items too. I’ve really been craving watermelon and cantaloupe.

I’ve been following your blog for a while and I love everything about it, seriously I think its rad and one of my favorite sites to visit. It’s your thing and it bothers me to no end how people pick apart what you have to say. Idc if you are completely wrong, its your opinion, your life and how you choose to express what you’re saying is your right. And truly with any clinical diagnosis there are varying degrees since everything related to the human body/mind is on a continuum so a little OCD is a good way-in my opinion-of stating the quirks most undiagnosed, unmedicated humans have. I don’t know how you put up with the daily nonsense of strangers acting like they know better but keep doing you! xoxo Esther
