It was extremely nice out yesterday. I had way too much energy to just lay around at the pool or work on the computer from inside, so Emilee and I headed outside for a long walk. I have my normal route that loops around the neighborhoods that I stick to every time.
The route is gorgeous. The landscape is extravagant and colorful. You can tell this neighborhood takes pride in appearance. I feel like I’m in a movie sometimes. There’s an old man that always waves at me from his front porch. A tall pitcher of lemonade, sometimes sweet tea always sits on his side table as he reads the newspaper. He sits like my grandpa used to, with his legs crossed, and his elbow leaning on the armrest. Sometimes I pass a mom pushing three kids in a stroller while keeping a steady pace up the hills. She’s a powerhouse. Towards the end of my route, I always pass a man sitting in a lawn chair wearing a Hawaiian vacation button up. I’m almost positive he has the same shirt in every color.
Before we get into the neighborhood part of the route, we go through corporate park. They have a little hidden fitness path which is fun to stop and do. They have little workout stations.
Of course we get off track and start goofing around.
My favorite part of the path is the stretching station. Emilee and I tried to complete as much as we could. Some of the stations were hard.
Calf stretch.
Hamstring & Side stretch.
Sit ups and leg raises.
There were 10-15 stations that we went through! I think it’s cool that they offer something like this for the corporate workers to do during their breaks.
Since I walked yesterday, I’m going to fit in a long run today!
The scenery on your walk looks beautiful! I LOVE that there are stations along the trail – such a great idea!
Fitness Trail is certainly a fitness trail!
I love park workouts- it’s such a fun way to switch it up and get some sun!
I think those fitness trails are amazing. I have heard about them going up in places in Europe but they don’t have them where I live. What an fun (and free) way to get moving!
I used to mess around on those workout stations when I was younger at a park nearby. They can be really fun if you’re not looking for a serious workout!
I love outdoor workouts! Being stuck in a gym isn’t always that fun.

Hi Taralynn! I am moving to Charlotte and researching the different neighborhoods. Which neighborhood do you think is best for someone active who likes to be outside with their dog? Love your blog so much!!!!
I’ve never seen anything like that! I love it and wish there was one around where I am! Although, back when I lived in Albuquerque, NM there was this park that had outdoor fitness equipment, made out of what playground equipment is made out of. I remember some of it being like actual fitness equipment you’d find in a gym, but you would just have to do it manually. Unfortunately, back then, I had no appreciation for things like that. But now, I think it would be so fun!
Hey Taralynn,
I don’t live too far from ballantyne. where is the fitness park? i’ve never seen it driving around there. Let me know!
Thanks,
Cortney
