I was exhausted Saturday morning. I couldn’t wait to lay around the house drinking coffee while doing absolutely nothing, but when you get a phone call inviting you out to breakfast, you don’t let a little eye drooping keep you from going. Plus, it was Emilee’s birthday and we needed to celebrate the day. Breakfast sounded like a great start. My friend wanted to take us to Zada Jane’s corner cafe, one of the best breakfast spots in Charlotte. You know it’s a popular breakfast spot when the wait is longer than thirty minutes.
We put our name on the waiting list, and then headed a block over to a little antique consignment shop. I’m obsessed with old antiques and books. Charlotte is full of them. My goal is to visit every single one. You’ll usually find a couple pieces of treasure surrounded by junk. But, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.
We walked back and got seated. While you’re waiting, Zada Jane’s has outside shuffleboard, and seating where you can have coffee. I love the vibe of the restaurant. It’s artsy, casual, and vibrant. Funky would be the best word to describe the atmosphere.
Their coffee was also delicious. When a restaurant has good coffee, my review points go up.
The menu had all types of cuisine. The best part is that they give back to the community by buying local food from the farmers. They keep their meat products as organic as possible without using hormones or steroids.
We have been eating out a ton lately, drinking maybe a little too much, and working out a little less so I wanted to order something on the healthier side.
They had a build your own omelet section on the menu, and so that’s what I had. I chose egg whites, bell peppers, tomatoes, green onion, spinach, turkey bacon, and a side of fresh seasonal fruit. I got to try their french toast and it was great too!
If you’re ever in Charlotte, you have to try Zada Janes for breakfast or lunch!
A good omelet is always a must for brunch!
Yes! You would have loved this place. The menu had everything to make the perfect omelet.
I feel ya on the eating out & working out less. My roommate spent this past week at my house and we ate horribly. Now it’s time for me to get back on track 🙂 And that restaurant looks great!
Thats the best part about a healthy lifestyle. You always get right back on track! None of that “I’ll start the diet tomorrow”, because there is no diet! xo
Looks fab! Wish we had places like this where I live!
It was great! I’m sure there are some great local restaurants around. Exploring is the best way to find them 🙂
It’s always somewhere out with you! You live a very social, fantastic life 🙂
Lately it has been that way! I’m trying to get as much Charlotte as I can!
It seems like a lovely restaurant and can see why it’s one of the best in your town! <3

It really is 🙂
One of my best friend’s lives in Charlotte. Next time I go visit her, I will have to request that we go here. That looks awesome.
My husband is also looking at seminary in Charlotte and you have inspired me to really explore if we end up moving there 🙂
Yes! It’s a must. If you do make it, check out my other site http://www.youngincharlotte.com there are tons of restaurant recommendations and things to do.
Hi, I’ve wondered this a couple times while reading your posts: It seems like when you go out to eat with friends/family, you usually order something more healthy than everyone else at the table. Do the people you’re eating with every say anything about that? If so, how do you respond? I’m asking because sometimes my friends give me a hard time about eating healthy and/or making them feel bad about not eating so healthy…I never know what to say to them! Thank you 🙂
We always eat there when we visit Charlotte. The French toast with the orange butter is delicious!
I tried this after you posted and now its my favorite spot in charlotte!
So glad you loved it!
