Homemade Garlic Parmesan Rolls

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A couple nights ago, I had the girls over for dinner. I made pizza couscous, tossed salad, and delicious garlic parmesan rolls. Remember the tea ring and cinnamon roll recipe? Well, these garlic rolls are adapted from those. I used the same dough recipe but made it savory instead of sweet. They turned out delicious and a were a hit. They’re easy to make, too. If you’re going to a dinner party, these would be great to make and take.

Ingredients Dough *2 Cups Warm Water, *2 Packages Active Dry Yeast, *1 Tbsp Salt, *1/2 Cup Sugar, *1/3 Cup Melted Shortening, *6 Cups Flour, *2 Large Eggs, *(or more for preference) *1/2 Stick Butter, *1 tbsp garlic powder.

Filling *1/2 stick butter, *1/2 cup parmesan, *2 heads of garlic minced

Mix together yeast and warm water. Pour in sugar and combine.

Pour in the melted shortening and only 3 cups of the flour. Combine.

Whisk eggs together in a separate bowl, then add to bowl and mix well.

After the eggs are completely mixed in, add the remaining 3 cups of flour, garlic powder, and salt. If you have a hard time mixing the flour in, add a tablespoon of warm water at a time.

Cover with a sheet of wax paper and a towel over that.

Let the dough sit in a warm area for about 45 minutes. You’ll notice the dough has risen.

Lay out a pastry cloth (or use your counter top). Sprinkle flour over cloth.

Roll out dough into a 1/4 in. sized oval/square. (as shown above)

Preheat oven to 355 degrees.

Melt 1/2 stick of butter and mix in minced garlic and parmesan.

Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the layer of dough. Roll the dough up like a cinnamon roll and slice the roll into mini rolls.

Rub the outer part of the rolls with the leftover butter.

Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet and bake 16-20 minutes.

Serve the rolls hot with pizza sauce!

This recipe makes about 35-40 rolls. I didn’t bake all the dough. I kept a big chunk in the freezer.

  3. These look awesome! I’m going to have to make them, I love that you recycled the cinnamon roll dough recipe. I may have to add some pesto to them, so sun dried tomatoes, for even more flavor.
