How I lighten Up My Chinese & Use Up The Leftovers

To be honest, I have a love/hate relationship with Chinese food. I love that it taste delicious and it’s fast. I hate how it makes me feel bloated after eating globs of it. Chinese food and moderation is kind of hard. Instead of giving it up completely, I like to lighten it up by adding healthy fillers.

I took four cups of arugula and tossed it in an asian sesame dressing. I then added rice and leftover Chinese food for the toppings. This way I was full, getting more nutrients and not overdoing the sodium. I even crushed up a crab rangoon for some crunch on top.

  1. Chinese food can actually be kind of “addictive” because of the Glutamat they almost always put in. It’s a flavor enhancer that is said to affect the regulation of the appetite in the brain. I apologize if you already knew that before! 🙂

This was perfect timing! My son told me last night that he wants Chinese food for dinner tonight and although I do love it, I dread it knowing the calories & sodium I will consume. I will definitely do this tonight! Thanks. 🙂

  3. Great extender and turning leftovers into something different. I love cold chinese food also and adding it to a wrap

  4. I can totally relate. I love Chinese food but I hardly ever order it because I don’t feel so great afterwards… It tastes so good and it’s hard to stop after just one plate. Your idea of adding salad greens is really smart!

  5. This is a great idea! Such an easy way to lighten up Chinese food. Do you have a recipe for the asian sesame dressing or a favorite one you buy from the store?

  6. This looks awesome! I would order chinese food just to make the salad! I have a sort of unrelated question. When you make chicken to put on cold green salads, how do you usually cook and store the chicken?
