Good Morning.
Leo was ready to go out at 5 am this morning, and I took that as a sign to wake up and start the day too. I organized all of my photos for this blog post last night so that it would be ready to go in the morning. Recap posts are my favorite, but they can take a while to put together. Editing the photos, uploading them in order, and writing. It takes about twelve hours altogether, and I love every second of it.
I have a lot planned for today, but I can’t start anything until I get all of my work done. After this recap post, I have one more lined up to write (for Saturday), fit it a light run, and then meet up with Becca. She has the next couple of days off, and we have some fun things on the agenda.
So let’s get started!
I took a lot of time off from running and working out this week, besides my poor Saturday run. I didn’t take off from eating delicious eats, so this post is filled with them.
Wednesday night’s dinner: Kale salad with spicy banana peppers, roast beef, goat cheese, crispy onions, cranberries, and candied pecans. I used a shallot vinaigrette for the dressing.
I was so tired on Wednesday night. I threw on my pajamas, went through my nightly routine, and then hopped into bed. I fell asleep watching the movie Safe Haven, one of my favorites.
After walking the dogs on Thursday morning, I made a homemade cappuccino with my Nespresso machine. It was very cold on Thursday. Thank goodness it’s all over with. I think Spring is finally here to stay.
For breakfast, I had five scrambled egg whites + one whole egg, and cantaloupe. I downed a bowl of Cheerios and almond milk before my walk, too.
I finally got around to painting the canvas to go above my bed. Once I figure out how I want to decorate my bedroom, I’ll put this painting in the guest room, or my office. Once my place is put together, I’ll post before and afters. There is just so much to be done (decor wise!)
Becca and I were too cold to walk outside on Thursday night, so we ended up mall walking. It was so much fun! We kept our purses in the car, so we weren’t tempted to stop and shop. We put the mile tracker on and walked for an hour. I can now see why people consider this a workout!
I had a kale salad for dinner with southwest tortilla salad toppers, onion crisp, crab, turkey, and shallot vinaigrette. I promise there was like four cups of chopped kale under those tortilla toppers!
We stopped at Whole Foods on the way home. I picked up some items for Friday, and their paleo section looked amazing!
I had been waiting for Friday all week because I couldn’t wait to get my hair done.
I had Whole Food’s paleo grilled chicken, garlicky green beans and paleo rice for lunch. Both solid choices.
I headed over to my hair appointment at one. I was a little early, so I wanted to waste twenty minutes walking around Whole Foods. I wanted to find a new pre-workout to try.
This green juice and ginger shot is my new favorite combo.
I LOVE ginger. I hate when I order a juice, and you can hardly taste the ginger. This shot just fixed all of my problems! I added it to my green juice, and it made the perfect combo!
I headed over to Carmin! Carmin! Salon in Cotswold. It’s an Aveda salon, which I love. I had Didi do my hair, and she was a blast! Becca gets her hair done with Didi, so I appreciated the recommendation. I really liked her, and she has one of the most fun personalities. Pink hair, don’t care!
I had my hair died, and cut!
After my hair appointment, I met up with Meighan. Her friends were out of town, so we walked their three dogs, and then headed over to NoDa to try out their new juice bar. That was a fail because we showed up right at closing. I think juice bars should be open until nine on Friday nights 😉 We will try it next time!
We decided to grab smoothies at Luna’s Living Kitchen instead. It was St. Patrick’s day and I needed more green in my life anyways.
My hair is pretty dark, but it’ll fade into a medium brown in the next month, or so! I know it’ll look good when I have makeup on and some color! I am a ghost right now.
Meighan took this photo so I could send my mom a picture of the color. We died laughing for about twenty minutes because of the lady behind us. She and her friend had just finished a day pub crawling, and she was all smiles.
We were hungry when we got there, so we decided to split one of their bagels for a snack.
Living Bagel: raw, savory bagel made with almonds, flax, zucchini and rosemary. Topped with cashew sour cream, tomato, onion, basil, avocado and sprouts topped with jalapenos
This was a great little appetizer. I want to recreate this but with real bagels and cream cheese!
I ordered the “Yo La Mango” smoothie, and it came with mango, banana, matcha green tea powder, spinach, and hemp milk. Meighan had the “Pinko Drinko” smoothie, and it came with orange, berries, banana, acai, bee pollen, ginger, and lemonade!
Kyle came over after the gym on Friday night, and we finished more episodes of “The Fall.” We only have about five more episodes left, and then we will be lost once again. I’m always catching Kyle snapping Grumples. The funny thing is that he is usually sending them to my mom.
I always wake up super early. I like my alone time with coffee, and it’s when I get the most work done. I’m doing it now. Kyle kept snapping me while I was drinking my coffee and blogging on Saturday morning. I think this quote fit perfectly with how I felt.
I tried out one of the pre-workouts in my breakfast smoothie. I should have stuck to last week’s pre-long run breakfast because this was no good. I had plant-based protein powder, one banana, 3 tablespoons oats, almond milk, and ice.
You can read all about this run here! We finished eight miles and that’s all that matters! 🙂
We treated ourselves to Green juices after our run.
We ordered the “Glow One,” and it had spinach, kale, chard, apple, and cucumber. We had them add ginger and lemon as well. SO GOOD, but could have used a lot more ginger 🙂
We seriously lucked out. As soon as we got into the car, we ran into this mess! We almost had to run through it all. That would have been the cherry on top of my awful run.
I was ready for some solid food. For dinner, I made ground turkey, garlic green beans, roasted baby carrots, bell peppers, and zucchini. I had a lot in the fridge I needed to cook up.
Recipes:
Garlicky Green Beans
Roasted Carrots
Roasted Vegetables
Kyle and I walked the dogs and watched movies for the rest of Saturday. It was nice to relax. Grumples thought so too! I got a lot of things done around the place.
We decided to bring breakfast over to my parent’s house and surprise them on Sunday morning!
The pups were happy too!
We put together a pretty delicious breakfast in forty-five minutes.
Cinnamon rolls straight from the package!
If you are looking for an amazing cinnamon roll recipe, my homemade ones are SO GOOD! I’ve been making them for years (just not Sunday morning.)
We used the outdoor hibachi grill that I bought my dad last year for the eggs and hash. Some of you may have seen it cooking up on my Snapchat.
The hash was so good! It had sausage, cheese, potatoes, and peppers!
The bacon was cooked in the over, and I promise it’s the BEST way to cook it!
Grumples LOVES the ride out to my parent’s house. He gets to see all the farm animals.
After breakfast, we headed to Southend to check out the antique mall. People have been telling me about the Sleepy Poet, and now I understand why. This place was HUGE! It would take me days to get through it all, and I can’t wait to go back!
SO MUCH AMAZING decor.
Kyle and I are obsessed with Whole Food’s honey roasted peanut butter. We decided to make our version on Sunday, and it turned out even better. We used the Vitamix to blend up the peanuts, added honey, cinnamon, and a bit of olive oil. You have to keep playing around with the honey and cinnamon to get the perfect blend. The bottom left is the Whole Food’s container, and the top left is ours!
I had a tossed salad from Zoe’s for dinner. It had lettuce, grilled chicken, tomatoes, feta cheese, bell pepper, onion, pita slices, and an olive oil dressing on top. Whenever I want something fresh, light, and filling, this is my go-to!
Just because I bought my salad doesn’t mean I got off the hook for cooking something. Kyle LOVES my pasta sauce and he had been asking for it for a while. I told him I’d make a batch on Sunday night.
It really is a DAMN good sauce.
Here is the recipe! You have to know taste to make this. You’ll need to add more of this or more of that to get it perfect. The recipe is a guide for you and has the ingredients I used.
We bought specialty pasta from the 7th Street Market to go with the sauce. It was Monograno Felicetti penne ritorte, a product of Italy!
Leo and I walked Meighan over some pasta too!:)
I power cleaned on Monday morning and then got some work done. The boys HATE the vacuum, but at least it puts them together for a cute photo.
I went flower lady crazy at Home Depot.
Saturday’s leftovers for Monday night dinner. WIN!
Relaxing my muscles before Dancing With The Stars! I think I watch these shows because I need something to look forward to on Mondays.
Yesterday morning, I headed out early to go grab paint for my upstairs bathroom. I couldn’t tolerate one more day of the green.
I went with a creamy color! I can’t wait to add all the cute decor 🙂
I decided to go lay out by the pool because it as 86 degrees and I was a ghost!!
The boys found a nice little shade spot.
I wanted to recreate a Greek salad from Zoe’s for dinner. I found the BEST Greek dressing! It’s Marie’s brand, and every single one of their dressings that I have tried has been incredible. I would take this dressing over a restaurant any day! You can find it in the produce section, usually over by the bags of lettuce.
My salad had romaine, pita chips, bell pepper, avocado, cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, and goat cheese. I know Greek salads typically go for feta, but I like goat cheese better!
I think this is going to be my favorite salad this season! I’m excited to eat another for dinner tonight.
Questions for you!

I think lighter hair suits you more, or maybe it’s just because I’m not used to it. Either way, you look beautiful! 🙂
I WISH spring was here to stay in Hong Kong. It just dropped in terms of temperature again… and I mean, even though we can’t complain about our cold weather in comparison to most other places, it still sucks.
Make sure you have fun in Hawaii! I’d love to go one day!

It will totally fit me once it lightens up a tad bit and I get some color. I also had no makeup on in that photo, so It’ll look better soon!

I can’t wait to go in May!

Nicole says
Hi Taralynn! All of your food pictures have me drooling– so good!
1. Peanut butter all the way!
2. Yes! I think it has such a refreshing taste (:
3. I’ve never been to Kona/The Big Island, but I have been to Maui and Oahu! They serve Kona coffee all over Hawaii, and it is DELICIOUS! You will absolutely love it (: I know someone who toured one of the coffee farms when he visited Kona, so that’s definitely something to look into. What an exciting trip!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Nicole!
Wonder what a ginger peanut butter would taste like……
I am for sure adding that to my list!!
I already have six coffee shops on my must try list!
Have a great weekend!

Jessie @ The Acquired Sass says
1. I will never turn down nut butter – I’ve yet to meet one I dislike. Obviously PB is the OG. But I love the texture of almond butter, and the taste of cashew butter. Just a bummer they’re so expensive by comparison to PB.
2. YES YES YES. I love trying “craft” sodas when they make ginger ale, or ginger beer. YUM!
3. I’ve been to Hawaii, but never Kona specifically. That will be such a fun trip. I will say the time change really threw my body for a loop, and I ended up waking up around 5 AM most days I was there. Easier to see the sunrise that way I guess?
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Jessie!
LOL PB IS DEF THE OG!!!
I actually enjoy ginger beer a lot!
Yes totally easier to see the sunrise. I’m there for 10 days so I’ll be able to adjust fine by day two hopefully!
Hope all is well!
Enjoy your weekend.

I loved your last post on your run. It was definitely encouraging to someone who is just starting out! That salad looks amazing, and I know what I’m having for dinner now!
Almond butter has to be my favorite! Almonds are my favorite nut. But having grown up on peanut butter, I have a special love for that too!
GINGER IS LIFE! I love anything and everything ginger. My favorite drink right now is the Kevita Lemon Ginger probiotic drink. So good!
Hawaii is on the top of my list of places I want to visit. I am looking forward to your posts on it! Is this just a personal trip?
I wish my dogs looked as cute when hiding from the vacuum. Usually they run outside or behind the couch. ? They are the biggest babies!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Shannen!
Thank you for the kind words. We all have our bad days for sure!
I hope you enjoyed that salad!!
Peanut butter is the win over all the nut butters in my book!
HAHA AGREED GINGER IS LIFE!
Gingerade kombucha is SO SO SO GOOD. I grab it at Target everytime I’m there.
This is just a personal trip! 🙂 Visiting some close friends.
LOL MINE ARE BABIES TOO!! Leo usually hops on top of Grumps.

Staci says
Hey Taralynn!
1. What is your favorite kind of nut butter?
Peanut butter is my favorite straight nut butter, but there are protein butters on amazon, and they come in all of these amazing flavors. Right now, I have coconut cashew birthday cake butter in my pantry… it’s GOOD.
2. Are you a ginger fan?
Not the food, but my dogs name is Ginger, and I’m pretty obsessed with her.
3. I just booked my tickets to visit Kona, Hawaii! Have you ever been?
Not Kona, but I’ve been to Hawaii three times, and it is beautiful. The heat is the best thing after a long winter and the views are obviously incredible. Have fun!!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Staci!
I just had birthday cake almond butter! It was so gooooood + I paired it with birthday cake Halo Top.
LOL! Love that.
Thank you!!! xo xo

I am LOVING your springtime pictures! I like in northern WI and it’s still grey and cold here–so I’m living vicariously through your bright and cheery photos!
I’m a big fan of almond butter with a little cocoa sprinkled on top! It’s great on toast for a late-night snack 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you, Emily!!
Hopefully you get some sunshine and warm weather soon!!
Oh yes. Love the addition of cocoa!
Carly says
All of your delicious food pictures are always so inspiring! I swear half the time I start making a grocery list while reading your recaps because your fun ingredients make healthy eating so much more fun! (already on the list… goat cheese, cranberries, cantaloupe, green beans, and pasta sauce ingredients).
Your hair looks great btw! Summer always fades my color too so I end up nearly blonde. Smart to start darker and end up more neutral brown.
I love the coffee quote!… I am the same way… talk to me before coffee and your asking for trouble ha!
Your homemade peanut butter looks AMAZING! I’ve never thought to make my own! I I am a peanut butter lover so I don’t discriminate! I defiantly will be making my way to try whole foods honey peanut butter tho!
It really depends on the day weather I am a ginger fan or not! Some days I can’t get enough of it and others its overwhelming! ha!
Kona sounds like an amazing vacation! I love Hawaii! Such a beautiful place and culture!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Carly!
Those are all my favorites on the grocery list!!!
Yes. My hair usually has a red tint by the time summer is over!
I always thought homemade nut butter was so hard, but the blender makes it so easy!!!
lol I’m like that with some foods!
Yes I love the aloha spirit.
Have a great weekend girl!
Vanessa says
I love your recap posts! They always motivate me to cherish every moment and live each day to the fullest <3
1. What is your favorite kind of nut butter?
Peanut butter all the way! Preferably with apples.
2. Are you a ginger fan?
Yes! I've never tried ginger shots though, I only put ginger in tea or stir fries so far. But I should give it a shot (pun intended).
3. I just booked my tickets to visit Kona, Hawaii! Have you ever been?
Unfortunately not. But from Europe, it is basically the other side of the world, so flying there would be too pricey for me right now. But one day…
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Vanessa!
That is so sweet 🙂 I definitely agree about living each day to the fullest. ALWAYS.
OH YES. Perfect combo.
haha all the shots!
I would love to spend more time in Europe one day!
XO XO HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND

Where did you get that brown coat?
Taralynn McNitt says
Old navy like six years ago!
Ariel LaVenture says
Hi Tara!
My favorite kind of nut butter is from this local Montana-based company, Moxie Nosh. It’s cocoa-infused cashew/almond butter (mixed) and is AMAZING! I love that you post about the Bachelor/Bachelorette and DWTS – those shows definitely get me through the early part of my week.
I love ginger, especially candied ginger – mmmmm! And I’ve never been to Hawaii, but my BFF is from there and we are thinking of a 2018 trip!
Hope all is well!
Cheers,
Ariel
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Ariel!
That nut butter sounds AMAZING.
Lol, those shows get me through the weekday nights too! I always have something to look forward to! I can’t wait for BIP!

I made the mistake of reading this before I go on my lunch at work.. STARVING.
Favorite nut butter changes all the time – I love trying new ones. My newest go-to is Justin’s Vanilla Almond Butter!
I have recently just been trying ginger in my smoothies and I like it a lot! I’ve also had Kombucha with Ginger in it too and that’s really yummy. Do you ever drink Kombucha?
Never been to Hawaii 🙁 How exciting!
We were hoping to take a tropical vacation this year like Hawaii.. but I think we are leaning towards saving up a little more and going back to Ireland next year.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Teresa!
Hopefully, you had yourself a delicious lunch!
YES! that is so good. Vanilla and almonds go together so nicely.
I drink Kombucha all the time. Whenever we go to the breweries here, I always order the Kombucha! Gingerade kombucha is my favorite.
Ireland sounds gorgeous. I need to make a trip there soon.

also love that you share all of your healthy eats – it inspires me to make healthier choices throughout the day when i see all the delicious things you’ve had that are good for you, too!
favorite nut butter as of late has been the nuts n’ more salted caramel flavor – SO good! and i haven’t been to Kona, but i’ve been to kauai and maui and hawaii is probably my favorite place in the entire world. you’re gonna have a blast!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hey, J!
I love making time for painting. It’s so therapeutic and pairs perfectly with wine or coffee!
& thank you! It will fade into a medium brown soon and I’ll love it all over again.
Thanks for the kind words! Eating healthy can definitely be fun and delicious. Glad it inspires you! Motivates me to keep posting.
Yes, Hawaii is one of my favorite places too!!!!
Caileigh says
Hi Tara- I love the Vanilla flavor Justin’s almond butter! Tastes like eating raw cookie dough (which is exactly why I only buy it occasionally- it’s gone in 2 days). I am obsessed with ginger, lemon, and cayenne shots. I love the way it burns when I have them, and I really feel like it prevents me from getting sick!
I just have to say, your bathroom looks a million times better!! (crazy to think someone would actually pick the green color). I just bought a house (my first!) and need to do some painting. What shade/brand paint is the color of your bathroom? Did you use primer? How many coats?
Thanks!! ps love your blog
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Caileigh!
Oh, yes! That is really good. Almond butter has to be flavored for me to like it! I LOVE taking those shots at Juice Bar! It’s great to wash it all down with a pineapple juice shot too!
LOL I have no idea what the green obsession was. I had to paint four rooms that were THAT green.
CONGRATS ON THE HOUSE!!!! That color is called “NATURAL WICKER” Here is the link so you can see it! http://www.glidden.com/Color/Paint-Colors/Browns-Beiges/30YY_67-084
I did two coats because that green was awful. It only took about 3/4 gallon! No primer.
Thanks for stopping by! xo

Linda @ The Fitty says
I haven’t had a salad in so long–I sure miss it! Call me weird, but sometimes I just want to mix PURE EGG YOLKS as a dressing on top instead of actual dressing!
My favourite type of nut butter right now that I’ve tried would be walnut butter. I also like pecan–I mix that with maple syrup and some hard boiled egg yolks (yes, I love my eggs) and mash that all together for a dessert-style deviled egg. 🙂
But I’ve been meaning to try macadamia nut butter for a while, too!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Linda!
Not weird at all! ACTUALLY VERY HEALTHY and so good on a warm kale or brussels sprout salad!!
I need to try this walnut butter! I bet it’s so good with chocolate.
You are making me so hungry.
Let me know if you try the macadamia nut butter!
Have a great weekend, girl!

Most importantly, I wanted to take some time to thank you for being the blogger that you are. I follow a couple other bloggers and your connection to your readers and how you respond to every single one of the comments is incredible. The other bloggers are nothing in comparison (still great, but you know), they really reach for those followers rather than reaching for a connection. You really make us feel that you are doing this for US. It has been so much fun watching you grow and become this crazy-inspirational woman throughout your blog (I’ve been following since the Tumblr days). So thank you. I always look forward to your posts.
1. I love almond butter!!
2. I love ginger in my drinks, and I just started enjoying it as a palette cleanser after sushi! Yummm.
3. I dream of going to Hawaii, how exciting that you are going!!

Hi, Mallori!

1. I love almond butter too…but ONLY with honey on top.
2. Ginger dressing too!!! with sushi of course.
3. It’s going to be a great relaxing getaway visiting my friends !:)

Hi!
Spring is here too, it’s a real pleasure to go running in shorts and t-shirts again (I need to tan a little, I think I’m paler than Snow White :D)
What is your favorite kind of nut butter?
I love crunchy peanut butter, and I tried almond butter once or twice, it tasted so good!
Are you a ginger fan?
Yup. People don’t understand me : I HATE pepper but I love to add ginger (or any other spice) in everything I cook (spicy food is better!). I used to go to a club where they had a delicious ginger mojito. It was perfect!
I just booked my tickets to visit Kona, Hawaii! Have you ever been?
Never, but I have a friend who comes from French Polynesia and had been to Hawai, he showed me some photos and it looks like heaven on Earth <3
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Sofia!
Lol I feel ya on the white as snow part. I wish I could run in shorts, but my butt literally eats my shorts and my legs rubbing together is a disaster.
Peanut butter is the best of all, even though I don’t like peanuts by themselves.
GINGER MOJITO?!!? I think I need my hands on that drink.
Ahhhhh I cannot wait!

Loving the dark hair!

Homemade pasta sauces are the best, way better than any canned or restaurant one I think.
I thought the bagel was a burger at first haha. It looks delicious!
Love the new color of your bathroom. I don't think I'd be able to stand the green either. Cream color is so much more calming.

Lol it really did look like a burger! I’m not sure if they should call it a bagel, maybe a nut burger! lol
THAT GREEN WAS NAUSEATING! I can’t wait to add all the cute little baskets.

My favorite nut butter is Teddy’s super chunky unsalted peanut butter. I have that and a banana for a mid morning snack everyday at work.
I haven’t experimented with much ginger but I do love the Kevita lemon ginger probiotic drink, it’s so refreshing!
Although my dogs name is Kona, I’ve never been to Hawaii (but it’s definitely on my bucket list). I can’t wait to see those photos!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Trista!
I haven’t had that yet. Sounds great though! Peanut butter and (overripe) bananas are my fave before a workout.
I love all the Kevita drinks with ginger!
OMG. So the dog (I have watched him a couple of time) that my friends have in Hawaii’s name is KONA!!:)

Amber O. says
Oh my goodness I love your blog! It’s always a joy to read 🙂
Have you tried cashew butter? I tried it while I was doing the Whole30. It has such a unique flavor but I prefer it over peanut butter now. It’s amazing on top of berries with a bit of shredded coconut on top! Also I don’t know how you can stand ginger, it has such a strong flavor!
You’re so talented at painting! Can’t wait to see the finish project!
Also do you have any recommendations for clothes/outfits to wear while working out outside? I live in Colorado so the weather is nice but I always get too hot when running.
Thank you for your amazing words! Good luck with your half 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Amber!
Thank you for the kind words. It always makes my day to hear that!
I don’t think I’ve had it! I’ve had cashew cheese at vegan restaurants, but cashew butter sounds pretty good!
lol it’s either a love or hate with people!
& THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am OK at painting lol some are complete fails, believe me.
Ok, so I LOVE dry fits. I feel like it’s the best outdoor clothing. You can get them at TJMAXX cheaper too. Nike and Under Armour for the win. And Fabletics has great outdoor workout clothes that have great breathing material. I have to run in pants, so I always look for lighter material.
Thanks so much!

I’ve been a fan of yours for a long time and love catching your weekly updates. I live in Michigan so spring isn’t quite in sight yet, although we did get into the 40’s this week so I can’t complain too much.
I love making fresh almond butter for toast, I use my personal blender with toasted almonds and a little bit of coconut oil.
I also love ginger, I add it to everything and occasionally buy fresh ginger root to make tea, especially if I’m a little under the weather, it works wonders for an upset stomach.
I’ve never been to Hawaii, but it’s on my bucket list.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Melody!
Thank you;) I remember how cold Michigan was in the Spring. It felt like it would never arrive. Hopefully, you get some warmer weather soon! & go lions!
I bet coconut oil is great added with the almonds!! Yum. I usually only like almond butter if it has honey mixed on top!
Me too! I keep crystalized ginger chews in my freezer for when I have stomach aches. It does help!
xo xo have a great weekend.

What coffee do you order at the cafes?
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi!
It all depends on my mood. Sometimes I just like a cappuccino or latte with skim, or plain ole coffee with cream! Lately I’ve been loving Americanos with a splash of milk.

Who are you rooting for on dancing with the stars?
Taralynn McNitt says
I don’t know yet! I have a couple of favorites, but I think I’ll know who I want to win by the fourth week! There are several I want to see go home, though….lol
Judi says
Hi Tara,
Will there be a fitness challenge for April? I really hope so, I would totally join. Really need to change some things up at the moment and also, I just read your 17pounds blog post from earlier this year and it motivated me even more!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Judi.
There will not, only because I have to focus on my half marathon coming up at the end of this month. There are so many challenges you can follow in the meantime, though! If you go up to the top, they are all under fitness challenges. I will totally add one when I get back from NYC. I will need something to follow while I’m in HI.
Let me know if you need any help finding one!

How do you cook your ground turkey? I’ve been thinking of making some myself.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Kendra!
Ground turkey is amazing. I cook the 98% fat-free kind, so it is pretty dry, but I flavor it with garlic powder, onion powder, soy sauce, and black pepper. I just cook it on the stovetop with cooking spray 🙂
You could also make delicious turkey meatballs! I have that recipe on my blog as well.

1. My favorite nut butter is definitely good ol’ natural peanut butter 🙂 (although of ALL the butters, my favorite is cookie butter from Trader Joes for sure haha!)
2. I so wish I was a ginger fan. It has so many health benefits but I just can’t get super into it.
3. I wish I’d been to Hawaii! How freaking FUN!! It’s always nice to get away to somewhere new. Especially somewhere with warm sun and relaxing beaches. I’m so jealous. I hope you have a blast!!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Anna!
I love peanut butter too! I haven’t had the cookie butter, only because I KNOW I will get addicted to it. I may buy it and try it at my boyfriend’s house and leave it over there!:) It won’t last long lol
I find that you either LOVE it or HATE it. My friend Becca hates it, and I’m always torturing her with my ginger juices and ginger chews.
Hawaii is WONDERFUL. I spent four years when I was younger living on Oahu because my dad was in the Navy. I’m excited to visit Kona this time. It’s just going to be a new scenery and a relaxing trip.

That just put a smile on my face!

I just did my PT clinical on the big island of Hawaii last summer! Here’s the food I recommend:
Kona Brewery- the pizza was good!
Acai bowl from Basik Acai in Kona
Scandinavian Ice from the shop in Kona
Icecream with coffee poured over it from Kope Lani’s in Kona
Smoothie bowl from Big Island Juice Co. in Hilo
Poke Bowl from Pinapples in Hilo
Mochi from Two Ladies Kitchen in Kona
California Spring Roll from Hilo Farmers market,
The candy store in Hilo…can’t remember the name
I would definitely get a rental car to maximize your time on the big island because they’re are so many places to explore! Kona and Hilo are not that far apart. I stayed in Hilo and it didn’t have much of a nightlife so it would be a good day trip! Some of my favorites sites were snorkeling at two-step beach, hiking down and up waipio valley, hiking 5 miles out and back to the lava flow at volcano national park and the sea arch at the start of the hike (don’t make the mistake I did by doing waipio valley and the lava hike the same day!), swimming with sea turtles at the tide pools in Hilo, Akaka Falls, and swimming the start of the Ironman course right there in the bay in Kona. If you’ve never been to a Luau before I would definitely spend the money on that experience!
FYI they don’t have daylight savings on the big island so in August it was dark around 7 🙁
Taralynn McNitt says
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! Love all of those recommendations.
You have me so excited for this!!!!
Rachel says
Your hair looks so good with the darker color! I seriously need to get mine done too but I haven’t put aside time to do so! I also like the new bathroom color instead of the bright green! I like ginger, but not too overpowering. I had no idea it took 12 hours to work on a recap post but I’m glad you do it! I love reading them and seeing the healthy eats. It helps give ideas! I tried the pasta sauce once and it was great! Thank you for sharing!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you, Rachel!!
I think making the appointment is the hardest part lol I hate the stress of finding a salon, so luckily I had a recommendation.
Yes, very time consuming but I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I know I could cut the time in half if I blogged more.
So glad you loved my pasta sauce !
xo and have a wonderful weekend.

1. I love cashew butter. So good. A little bit on top of a piece of dark chocolate is a heavenly dessert. Almond butter is another of my favorites.
2. I like ginger but in moderation.
3. Never been to Hawaii but it’s on my list of places to visit.
Love your new hair color by the way. It looks good on you.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks so much, Marissa!
I need to try cashew butter!
I probably overeat ginger 🙁 lol
YES YOU MUST GO! I haven’t been in years.

I think I was the only person who loves ginger. My friend got me started on it in college with sushi and I loved the taste. I agree that juices need more of a ginger punch to them, I also try SO hard but can’t get behind a juice that doesn’t have apple or pear in it. It’s just not enjoyable for me. I’ve been using MaraNatha crunchy. I do use pb2 in all of my smoothies- I just think that it blends so much better than chunks of peanut butter. I’ve never been to Hawaii but one of my friends recently moved there, it’s on my list! Anything island related is awesome. I’ve heard Hawaii has some great hiking and delicious fresh seafood.
Taralynn McNitt says
Oh its so good!!
I think lemon and apple is a great combo in a juice! I love adding pb2 in smoothies too!
I can’t wait to try out all the seafood after a day of hiking!
Lina says
Love love love ginger. It’s refreshing and wakes me up in my juices.
Never been to Hawaii but it’s on my bucket list of places to go for sure! Friends have told me there are some amazing hikes to be done on the islands. How long are you going to be out there for?
Taralynn McNitt says
Perfect in morning juices. I agree!
I will be there for ten days! I heard the hiking is incredible too!
Susie says
1. My fave nut butter is good ole peanut butter.
2. I wish I loved ginger, but I HATE it.
3. Never been to Hawaii, but my husband and I have been thinking about doing the 14 day cruise from here in SF to Hawaii and Kona is part of the island hopping fun. I hope you have a great Hawaiian vacation!!
I’m guilty of jarred marinara sauce, but I just printed your sauce recipe and can’t wait to try it! I’ve heard so many people rave about Tuttorosso. Is that pasta snapchat from Kyle or Meighan? So adorable either way! And it melts my heart how Kyle takes dog pics to send your mom!
Your hair looks great! You are so naturally pretty too. And OMG, the Sleepy Poet looks so awesome! I would love to see a post dedicated to your shopping experience there.
Taralynn McNitt says
I don’t blame you one bit!
Lol it’s honestly a hit or miss!
OH MY THAT WOULD BE A WONDERFUL CRUISE!!
That was from Meighan!!!
Kyle is such a sweet person 🙂 When the dogs are laying on the couch, he’ll take the blanket and cover them. It makes me smile.
Well thank you!!
I didn’t buy anything yet, but I’ll be going in there once I get a theme going in the guest bedroom!! I think I’m going to make it super Venetian/shabby chic!

I’ve gained about 8lbs training for this half! Most all muscle! I’m excited for it to tone down a bit when I’m done lol

1. I love every type of nut butter, but fresh market makes a honey roasted peanut that is definitely a fave.
2. I can only do a little ginger
3. So jealous of Hawaii
I really wish you would write a cookbook.
Baking bacon is the only way to do it.
I have always loved you blog. Have a great day!
Taralynn McNitt says
I love the Fresh Market’s honey roasted peanut butter. It reminds me of the Whole Foods one! We had good luck making it at home too!
Writing a cookbook would be fun, but SO TIME-CONSUMING. Maybe one day lol I’d really like to start a youtube channel.
YES! Baked bacon for the win!
Thanks so much for the kind words!
xo
Jessie says
YES ! I was just thinking the other day that you should do a you tube channel I would be a little obsessed with it .
You would be great at it too I believe.

Hi Taralynn!
You take the best pictures and make the prettiest salads! Zoe’s Greek salad is my favorite too so I’ll have to try out the Marie’s dressing! Thanks for the recommendation! I’m also looking for a creamy, gray-ish neutral to paint my living room. What color did you use in your bathroom?
1. What is your favorite kind of nut butter?
Peanut butter! Unfortunately I’m allergic to most nuts (except peanuts) so I’ve never been able to try any other kind.
2. Are you a ginger fan?
Yes! Love lemon & ginger tea but my favorite type of ginger is in a Moscow Mule! Yumm!
3. I just booked my tickets to visit Kona, Hawaii! Have you ever been?
Never been to Kona but I’ve been to Kauai and it’s beautiful! Best thing we did was rent a convertible to enjoy the gorgeous weather & scenery! You’ll love it!
Taralynn McNitt says
Allergic to nuts? NOOOO:(
atleast you get to have ginger!
I can’t wait to go!
Sarah says
That snap was so adorable! Y’all are too cute.
I love your hair; I think it really plays up your eyes.
Peanut Butter will always have my heart – but almond is delicious, too. I’ve been skipping out on trying ginger in juices, but I love it in stirfrys.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks Sarah!!
I love it too!!
