I finally found the time to fit in more blog posts about my trip. We are all sitting around the living room eating pizza and watching Oculus (scary movie that will most likely end poorly).
We drove up to Detroit Thursday and got to the MotorCity Casino Hotel late in the afternoon. When I was living in Detroit, I used to go to the casino at least twice a week. I’ve been itching to go back since I moved to North Carolina. There was no need to stay at the casino when I lived in Detroit, but now I had an excuse.
MotorCity hooked me up with a suite on the fifteen floor. I loved how tall the ceilings were and the view of Detroit was incredible. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and casinos; this room was definitely in the top five.
I know it’s a weird thing to be obsessed with, but their lighting was awesome.
The lights were so unique and I found myself staring at them for way longer than the normal person.
The hotel was so clean, spacey, and luxurious.
The suite had two giant rooms. One was the bedroom and one was the living/kitchen area. Both had views of the city.
I was surprised to be welcomed with a special gift.
MotorCity hotel social media team put together a Detroit gift basket for me. It had all kinds of goodies and it reminded me of living in Detroit.
The kitchen also had cute snack jars. I think it would be cute to put something together like this for the guest bedroom.
I loved that they offered Starbucks coffee.
The suite on the fifteen floor offered appetizers in the butlers lounge and complementary breakfast in the butlers lounge.
They had all kinds of finger foods!
I had a plat of shrimp, a kabob, egg roll, cheese, and vegetables. Oh, and I grabbed a cookie on the way out. But how could you not?
I went to dinner earlier in the night (and I’ll do that blog post later), but after dinner and hanging out at the casino a little bit, I headed up to the room to pass out.
How gorgeous was that view from the room at night?
The bed was super cozy and the curtains shut (electronically), so I slept ten hours straight in the dark un-woken. I could live like this. The casino has restaurants, a really good buffet, a fitness center, and a spa. If you plan on visiting in Detroit, I highly recommend getting a room at the MotorCity Casino Hotel! I’ll be post in more about my trip and stay in the next couple of blogposts.

It was probably comped. I think that’s what she’s saying when she says the hotel hooked her up. People give out free things to be mentioned on popular blogs.
