Hey, Tuesday! 🙂
I’m off to a body burst workout this morning, and I feel like I’m finally getting into the swing of things again. A new gym was just built near my house, and I really enjoy it! It reminds me of the gym I was obsessed with back in Atlanta. I find myself excited about classes, and so inspired to keep going. Before I head out, I wanted to share my weekly recap. My dad and I are finishing up some building projects later this afternoon that I am so excited about.
I can’t believe it is 60 degrees out right now! The high will be 70, and it feels like fall outside 🙂 Don’t worry, I’m not going to start cooking pumpkin muffins and buying Bath & Body Works candles.
I finished up writing my last recap post on Tuesday morning. It was rainy and muggy all day. I felt bad for the pups because they had little walks, so when it stopped, I drove them out to my parents to play in the backyard. Before I left, I had vanilla Greek yogurt, strawberries, and trail mix. I had trail mix leftover from the Friday night movie theater treats 🙂
I decided to make a green juice before driving out to my parent’s house. My juice had kale, spinach, lime, one small green apple, lemon, a lot of ginger, cucumber, carrots, wheatgrass, and celery.
While the pups were out playing in the backyard, I went on a three-mile run. I needed a cardio recovery after Monday’s workout. Cardio helps relieve the soreness by increasing circulation. When I first start new fitness routines, I get the DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) like woah. I was so sore on Tuesday that it actually felt like I had giant boobs and a huge butt while running. I could feel the soreness in my chest from weight lifting, and it just inspired me to keep going back to the gym. It’s been almost two weeks, and now I don’t get that pain. It’s crazy how fast you can train your body. I do not see any body changes yet, but I can MOST DEFINITELY feel it. I feel like I can breathe better, and my mood and energy levels have changed since taking that 40-day hiatus.
On Wednesday morning, I grabbed a half a bagel and ran out the door to head to Pilates. I haven’t done much pilates, but I was excited to take the class. The entire 60-minute class was spent on the floor, so I was happy about that! So many leg lifts, ab focus, and stretching exercises. It was exactly what I needed. This class was a great recovery workout. I still got a great sweat/burn, but it wasn’t high intensity.
After Pilates, I was in serious need of coffee. I had a tall non-fat latte with two shots of espresso. Lattes are actually great for post workout because of the protein and carbs in the milk. Larabar sent me these new Fruits & Greens bars. I have been wondering how they tasted after seeing them at CVS. I was shocked at how much I liked them. I ended up buying an entire box of them off of Amazon. I like them better than the original Larabars. They are around 130 calories, and if you like dried fruit, you’ll love them! The pineapple kale cashew is my favorite flavor 🙂
Later on for lunch, I made eggs (1 egg +3 egg whites) with a side of fresh fruit.
My dinner was so random but tasty. I had leftover steak stir fry on top of romaine lettuce with cottage cheese and ginger sesame dressing.
I ended up swimming 60 laps with my mom in the pool on Wednesday night. We alternated back and forth.
My morning routine is the same. I wake up, walk one dog 1.5 miles around the block, walk the other 1.5 miles around the block, feed them, make coffee, and reply to blog comments while watching the news. I like it when Kyle is here because we walk the dogs together and that saves me some time in the morning. If my classes are early morning, I make sure to get up so I can fit in my two-hour routine. I feel like my entire day is off if I don’t get that time.
After coffee on Thursday, I had a pre-workout snack/breakfast. English muffin with cream cheese and raspberry jelly. I usually don’t eat too heavy before a circuit workout. Something with carbs for energy and a little protein for muscle repair! I’ll usually have a protein shake afterwards. I have found that that works best for me.
This class kicked my butt! My arms and abs were jello when I left. I have found a love for circuit training again, and I think the classes help motivate me.
For lunch, I had an omelete (2 eggs + 2 egg whites) and ground 99% fat free turkey.
I spent the rest of the day working, and catching up on housework.
Kyle and I were going to pick up Chipotle for dinner, but we realized that we had all the ingredients to make chicken enchiladas, so we did that instead.
I could eat these forever because they’re so good and easy to make. I don’t know why it took me so long to try an enchilada. I made the same recipe for the stuffed bell pepper enchiladas but used tortillas this time. The recipe is right here!:) We made a side of sweet potato fries seasoned with garlic powder, sea salt, black pepper, onion powder, and minced onion.
Kyle and I took the boys for a super long walk on Thursday night and then started a new show. Meighan recommended A Handmaid’s Tale, and we can’t stop watching. It is just incredible. It’s a Hulu series, and if you need a new binge show…start it! The plot is so unique and different.
I woke up early Friday morning to go on a walk with Kyle and the pups, fit in more work, and then head to bootcamp calss with Meighan. They’re the most intense workouts of the week! I had overnight oats for breakfast, and I can’t wait to share more about the oats on tomorrow!
Since I’ve been changing up my workouts (and fitting in my walking challenge), I wanted to do a before picture. I’m not weighing myself anymore, or worrying about a “number.” I feel like I’m happier and my days don’t revolve around that number when the scale is locked away. I highly recommend saying adios! If you want to see progress, take pictures, or measure yourself. So, yes, I’m sharing my before picture! I’m just hoping to get a bit more defined! I’m giving myself four months to hit some of my goals 🙂 I am happy with my body, and I love my body now, but it’s OK to want to make changes! I have them written down on a piece of paper, and I’ve shared them with Meighan, and she’s holding me to them!
Our boot camp class was intense, and we were glistening with sweat afterward. We did so many sprints… Felt amazing to get that workout in 🙂 Meighan is a BEAST in class, so she inspires me to work harder. I don’t think I wore makeup once this week, and I’m totally OK with that. I honestly feel like putting makeup on is a chore. I wish I loved it, but I’d rather run ten miles than do it. I feel the same way about hair, and that’s why it’s always lookin’ wild.
I was in the mood to bake muffins on Friday afternoon while watching New Girl, and they turned out so good! You can find the recipe here.
Cuties!:)
We made one of the Blue Aprons for dinner on Friday night. IT WAS PERFECTION!!! Crispy chicken tenders, roasted potatoes, and veggies with aioli sauce. Blue Apron is an awesome meal kit delivery service.
I headed to the gym at 7 am on Saturday morning for a HIIT class.
We had to do each movement ten times and as many times as we could in seven minutes. After we did the five rounds, we did a deep stretch. Great way to get sweating on Saturday morning 🙂
I met up with Becca on Saturday afternoon to shop. She was looking for new jeans, and I love tagging along!:) Before we started browsing for her jeans, I grabbed a cappuccino! I tried on a lot of things but just walked out of the mall with a blue tank top. I wasn’t impressed with much. I did learn that I’m too old to be wearing H&M jean shorts lol
After walking the mall for a couple of hours, we decided to grab lunch at our favorite spot, Zoe’s Kitchen! I ordered the tossed Greek Salad without dress and no olives. I also ordered a fruit cup for the side.
I was so excited for Saturday night because one of our friends, also Meighan’s roommate, was competing in the Miss North Carolina pageant. I grabbed snacks for the show and a couple of other necessities at The Fresh Market on my way home. I’m sort of obsessed with TFM.
I was so proud of Allison! She was 1st runner-up & nailed everything! She is incredibly talented and smart. Way to go Allison! As you can tell, Kyle loved watching the pageant!
I woke up to Grumples licking my face on Sunday morning. He wanted to jump up on the bed for cuddles. I love him so much! He’s not a cuddly dog, so when he wants to cuddle, you have to take advantage of it. I’ll drop anything for cuddles with him.
I was so excited to try making the three-ingredient pancake recipe in the waffle maker & it worked! Even Kyle loved them! I used the blender to combine one large banana, one tablespoon Swerve, two egg whites, one egg, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. I mixed in blueberries, sprayed the waffle maker, and added the batter. I was so happy they turned out.
After breakfast, I headed to the gym with Kyle! I did my go-to gym solo circuit. This is something that you can do anywhere.
Circuit:
35 Sit-ups (10 left, 15 center,10 right)
25 Dumbbell Bench Presses (5-10lb weights)
^ X 2
10 Squats
5 Push-Ups
^ X3
30 Left Side Leg Lifts/30 Right Side Leg Lifts
50 Front Arm Circles/50 Back Arm Circles (do not take a break between sets)
30 Left Front Leg Lifts/30 Right Front Leg Lifts
35 Sit-ups (10 left, 15 center,10 right)
10 Jumping Jacks
10 Burpees
Repeat Circuit 2X!
Fresh cantaloupe and yogurt post workout 🙂
I spent Saturday organizing and putting away laundry. I also got around to hanging my jewelry organizer up.
I roasted sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, and zucchini for dinner.
I know this isn’t the most flattering photo of my food, but it was delicious. I also had five eggwhites for my protein.
*disclaimer* not everything I eat ends up on the blog. With the amount of workouts that I’m participating in, calories are crucial. I don’t take photos of everything I eat, so please do not use this as a “diet” guide. I grab handfuls of cereal, bites out of the ice cream pint for dessert, nuts, and random snacks throughout the day! Kyle and I even made midnight Reeses Peices waffles on Sunday. I have containers filled with fruit that I eat out of randomly, scoops from the peanut butter jar, or sample bites while cooking recipes. I strive to eat healthy, but also intuitively! If I want something, you bet I’ll have it.
After walking the dogs three miles this morning, I had an English muffin with peanut butter and coffee!
Yesterday morning, I headed to a circuit workout. I think the Monday classes are my favorite! I love how she switches up the workouts. I am going to start writing them down as we go, and share them on the blog! My arms are going to be sore in the morning for sure.
I had almond milk mixed with Vanilla Muscle Milk and a Now Cow bar for my post workout breakfast.
The boys and I enjoyed the GORGEOUS weather! It was breezy and 80 yesterday.
They were exhausted after their second round of walks, but how cute! 🙂
As I was heading out the door, I saw a package sitting on my front porch. One of my friends from college sent me the sweetest and most creative package. The box was filled with a couple of summer books that I cannot wait to dive into, coffee, ginger (my fave) candies, a very sweet note, and an affirmation jar. I know this gift took so much thought and so much time to put together. It really brightened up my day. Thank you so much, Hannah! That was one of the kindest things anyone has ever done for me.
How cute is this idea? Each one of those folded stars has an affirmation written on it. Just the sweetest.
Last night’s dinner: leftover brussels sprouts, sweet potato fries, grilled burger, and a side salad!
Questions For You!
- Do you enjoy putting makeup on?
- Have you watched The Handmaid’s Tale?
- What is your favorite workout class to attend?
You’re killing it!
aww thank you!
I would love to know your Atlanta gym! I live there and I’m currently a member of the YMCA, but I think I’d like to find a place I enjoy more.
1. I don’t enjoy putting makeup on, but I feel like I can’t go to work without it. I’m a teacher and I look too young to teach high school if I don’t put something on my face.
2. Yes! I stopped it because it was too intense for me right now. I like to watch happy shows to counteract all the bad news.
3. I always love Yoga classes and I actually have had fun at water aerobics! Usually the water classes are older people who don’t judge, so I can be really goofy and get super into it without any shame 🙂
I used to go to Fitness Tri in Norcross!
hahaha I would definitely wear makeup if I worked at a high school. I still get “you look 17” when I go to bars lol I actually had a 15-year-old hostess tell me that I looked 16 when I sat down at the bar, and SHE asked for my ID. It was funny.
haha my classes are filled with older people too!
You are so good with your closet organizing! TEACH ME YOUR WAYS
ONLY sometimes 😀
Your dogs are the cutest! As to your questions, I think I have phases. For the most part I love putting makeup on because it feels like art to me or an expression of style. I can change things depending on my mood, emphasize certain aspects of my face, or go for a whole vibe with my makeup. On the other hand I try to keep an eye on when it starts to feel mandatory, like I have to wear makeup. When it switches to that point, I try to take a step back and go barefaced. 🙂
I have watched the first episode of the Handmaid’s Tale! It’s nice to have a show to watch that’s truly unique in it’s storyline, but it is a bit dark and moody so I only watch one episode at a time spaced out over the week. My favorite workout classes include kickboxing, yoga, and any sort of core class!
Hope you have a wonderful rest of your week!
Thanks, lady!
I think I go through phases sometimes too. I so agree! The storyline is so unique and thats what makes it so good!! It’s a lot to take in for sure. Great classes!!!
xo xo
1. I hate wearing makeup I guess because I wear it everyday all day. I have acne scars and large pores so I refuse to leave the house without makeup?
2. I haven’t seen that show and I don’t have Hulu
3. I don’t belong to a gym, I have a shop at home and have invested gym equipment for it. My favorite workout is yoga with Leslie Fightmaster. I highly recommend her. Her videos are free on YouTube. I have been following her for years! Check her out?
I bet you are BEAUITUL without makeup. It’s funny because sometimes WE are the only ones that see our own scars.
Ohhh you should try to watch it with someone who does 😀
Free youtube vids are great!
Looks like a great week!
I wouldn’t say I *enjoy* putting makeup on, but I’ve gotten it down to a 5-minute process, so it’s not too much of a hassle for me 😉
I have not seen the HMT series, but just finished the book and it was super interesting and disturbing. Super poignant right now, I think. Almost makes me want to start a Hulu subscription to see how they adapt it to the show!
I usually just attend yoga classes during the week and do the rest of my workouts on my own. I like the idea of barre or OrangeTheory, but they’re so expensive! I might take some classes at the gym of the university I work for in the fall, though. They’re pretty reasonably priced 🙂
Definitely 😀
YUP. TEACH ME YOUR WAYS.
I heard the book was good and regret not reading it first.
I want to try OT!! They just built one next to my house!!
The Handmaid’s Tale is also a (wonderful) book by Margaret Atwood – you should check it out!
That’s what I’ve heard!!
I hate putting makeup on! I only do it when I go out on weekends, during weekdays at my desk job I look like a slob. I work in a casual company though… so I guess it’s okay haha!

You look beautiful without makeup! & MAKEUP should always be optional. 🙂
You are so so pretty without make up! If I looked that good, I wouldn’t bother putting it on either lol. I like putting on make up, but only when I have time and don’t feel rushed…like a special occasion or something. Every morning before work it definitely feels like a chore!
Also I completely can relate to the perks of having a handyman dad. My boyfriend and I recently bought a house and my dad probably furnished half of it with either stuff he made or refinished from my thrift finds. Which reminds me! Any posts about home décor or DIY would be awesome, you have such great taste 🙂
Well, thank you, Patricia. I don’t fear a naked face, ever!
Dads are the best for that stuff, and I feel like I’m learning so much. He DEFINITELY makes me work with him to learn lol
& ONCE everything in the house is done, I’ll do before and afters!
I *cannot* express how much I love that you wrote the disclaimer about what you eat in this post. It’s disheartening to me when people assume that everything I eat is what I put on Instagram. Sometimes what you post on social media are highlights, and sometimes it’s just what’s happening in the moment. 🙂
I’ve been listening to a podcast episode (it’s super long) of an analysis of the Handmaid’s Tale, and it sounds like an interesting show, but also nerve-wracking how it’s kind of a reminder of what *could* happen when things are taken too far– the author of the book (since it’s based off of a book) has said that nothing that’s happened in the book was original, that it’s all based off of something that has happened throughout history– crazy stuff!
I just felt like it was important. I know all of those workouts are A LOT & I don’t want anyone thinking that it’s ok to workout that much with only eating as much as I was putting on the blog. It’s not realistic for me to post EVERYTHING I eat because that would be excessive, but a disclaimer was important.
It’s insane to think that it ACTUALLY could potentially happen, and that’s why the second amendment was created. To protect citizens from government takeover lol
1. I do not enjoy putting makeup on everyday, but I do because I work at a bank. I just started a new skincare regime to try and cleanse my face so maybe i’ll fell more confident in my skin. When I use self-tanner I love not wearing makeup.
2. I watched the trailer for it and put it on my list of shows to watch, I’m still trying to finish Downton Abbey.
3.My favorite workout class is Barbell Blast but I also love looking up youtube videos and finding HIIT workouts especially from the TONEITUP ladies.
I hope you have a wonderful week! Love your goldens, I also have one her name is Lady, we had to shave her because she got into a ton of burrs this summer. haha
Skincare regimes are so important 🙂
FINISH IT UP, AND GET TO HANDMAIDS LOL
Those are great workouts!
Oh no!! Poor, lady lol
is handsmaid good? :O
1. OMG NO! I was so with you when you were talking about makeup and hair. I have a huge dry shampoo bottle for a reason 😉 I start a new job next week and I am going from “wear your hair up, wear a uniform, bakery” to “dress like a girl, look like a girl, must be a girl, office”. I am so out of my element!
2. I have not started The Handmaid’s Tale but I have glanced at it a few times to start so now I’ll add it to my list.
3. My favorite workout class to attend always and forever will be PiYo. I feel amazing and strong after those. They are pilates/yoga fusion classes that are high intensity and build lean muscle.
ps – spoonfuls out of the peanut butter jars are a must! it wards off hangry in my house 😛
Hahaha, I’m sure you’ll get into the swing of things!
ADD IT NOW!!! This was not my type of show, but I’m hooked.
I’ve heard of classes like that! It sounds amazing.
HAHAHA Perfect. I call them energy scoops.
What a sweet gift! I usually put makeup on for work. Sometimes I’ll do it on the weekend too but my make up routine is so simple that it takes about five minutes. I haven’t watched The Handmaid’s Tale but Hulu keeps recommending it to me every time I log on! My favorite workout currently is crosstraining. We do heavy weights and different pylo moves to keep our bodies guessing!
It was so sweet 🙂
I don’t know what it is about makeup. I could put it on in five minutes, but it’s just doing it that drives me crazy. It’s the strangest thing! WATCH IT NOW!!!! IT’S GOOD!!!!!! Love cross training!
Everything We Keep was such an amazing book! The author has another one called All the Breaking Waves which is also amazing! I also enjoyed body bump classes at my gym but I switched it up and joined crossfit and am now addicted!
I can’t wait to read!
I LOVE body pump classes!
& cross fit? YOU GO GIRL! I feel like it’s a love or hate for it.
Have a great week.
Hi! Just curious, you mentioned taking each of the dogs for their own separate 1.5 mile walks in the morning- wondering if they don’t walk well together or if this is just a way for you to get extra miles in for the challenge? Also, when Leo first came into the picture, I was under the impression he was Kyle’s dog, but it seems like he lives with you full time. Is he your dog now?
I do it to get more walks in, and THEY ARE SO BIG! So It’s hard for me to walk them together as of right now. We are working on training right now! They walk fine together, but I usually need Kyle to hold one while I hold the other.
Kyle has a very busy job, so I take Leo during the weekdays. I definitely wanted Leo to be 100% Kyle’s decision when he got him, but now I wouldn’t consider Leo Kyle’s dog. He’s our dog. 🙂
I’ll say yes and no to loving makeup, ha. I wear minimal makeup to work so it doesn’t take me a lot of time but on the weekends I prefer to just use my under eye cream. It reduces puffiness and adds brightness so I don’t need concealer with it (love Sephora!)
I’m obsessed with the Handmaid’s Tale too! I actually read the book a couple years ago before I knew they were making a series out of it. I highly recommend the book if you haven’t read it. The series is different from the book, but not a bad different.
I love hot yoga! It reminds me of Pilates – the slow burn and low impact but a great workout. I feel like I always workout better in a class environment.
Your pups are the cutest! I can’t believe how big Leo is now!! ❤️
Hi, Kim!
YES, LEO IS HUGE!!!!
minimal makeup is the way to go!
Ugh, wish I would have read the book first!!
I love it too. My boyfriend’s roommate actually got me hooked.
xo xo have a great week
LOVE the pic of Leo with his paw over Grumples – so cute it melts my heart! And I giggled at the pic of Kyle watching the pageant. It’s obvious he was really into it, haha!
Speaking of H&M…I can’t even go in there any more. The loud music and dark store is not my ideal shopping atmosphere.
1. Do you enjoy putting makeup on?
Yes, I love it! I don’t experiment as much as I used to, but now that I’m older I’ve found what colors compliment me best. Good thing I love makeup since I’m no natural beauty, but you certainly are!
2. Have you watched The Handmaid’s Tale?
I’m so glad you like this because it’s next on my list! Will start it as soon as I finish Lost.
3. What is your favorite workout class to attend?
I’m not big on group fitness but my favorite class in the past was definitely Zumba.
They are ridiculously cute, and THEY KNOW IT! Leo sometimes rests his head on Grumple’s butt.
Kyle loves everything pageant related 😉
Oh, and they don’t know what air conditioner is either lol
You are CERTAINLY a natural beauty and don’t let ANYONE OR YOURSELF make you think otherwise. YOU ARE GORGEOUS!!!!
Let me know what you think when you start it!!
I haven’t done Zumba in so long. I used to play it on the WII. I’m such a bad dancer hahaha NO RYTHM.
What gym did you use in Atlanta? I live in Decatur and haven’t found one that fits me!
It was called Fitness Tri in Norcross. LOVED IT!
I love love love putting on make-up, I have since I was little and would get into my mom’s. When I’m feeling stressed, I binge watch Lisa Eldrige’s YouTube tutorials.(I think she’s the best make up artist on YouTube, she does a lot of magazine/celeb work and it’s always perfect, blended, natural.)
The book Handmaid’ s Tale freaked me out, so I’m not eager to relive it.
I just joined Orange Theory gym and it’s so much fun. My workouts were getting really boring and it’s the perfect fit breaker.
My favorite 3 ingredient pancakes: 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 cup cottage cheese, 1 egg- blend in your blender until smooth and cook in a pan/griddle. I don’t know how it works, but they taste like flour pancakes! (Easy to increase too, the original recipe was 1 cup each and 3 eggs, but that’s too much for me.)
I wish I did lol
lol nope, that’s why I believe in the second amendment. Gotta fight back no matter what!!
I’d LOVE to try OT!
MMMMM I may have to try that recipe and put it in the waffle maker!
Sounds like such a fun week! I’ve started going to Tuesday/Thursday morning strength classes at the local climbing gym. They have been so awesome! You go girl!
1. YES! I love makeup. For me it’s almost a form of artistic expression. I don’t always enjoy doing it, but when I feel like it, I think it can be so fun.
2. I have not, but I’ve heard it’s good!
3. I love to climb and learn new skills, but strength classes in the morning have been my go to!
By the way, do you think you will run the Race 13.1 in Charlotte? I’m thinking of running the 8k, would be cool to see you there!!
Hi, Cassie!
No halves for me until December!:) My hamstring has been goofing up, so I’m focussing on building the strength right now!
Teach me your ways. I want to love makeup lol. My mom is so good at doing it every day!
WATCH IT D:D:D:D
Have a great week, Cassie!!!
Your blog brings so much joy to me! I am so happy you’re so happy now, you truly deserve it.
Awwww, thank you!!!
1. Hate putting on makeup and doing my hair. I do the BARE MINUMUM to look presentable and that it!
2. LOVE the handmaids tale! I anxiously await Wednesdays for the new episodes 🙂 Another good show along the same lines is Harlots
3. Yoga 🙂
Sounds like that’s all you need!
Ohhhh it’s so good. Glad you’re watching.
<3 yoga.
Thank you for the eating/diet disclaimer! I have to admit there were times where I thought, “How does this girl have all that energy for all those activities with just those foods?” Although maybe it’s because you run on coffee 😉 haha. But thanks for addressing it so others don’t get the wrong idea in regards to not fueling your body enough for activity!
I actually hate putting makeup on too. The most I do everyday is a tinted moisturizer with SPF and mascara. I never wear foundation (mainly because I live in Tucson and the weather is just too HOT). Plus I have freckles and I believe freckles should be enhanced and not covered up!
The Handmaid’s Tale is so intense! I finished the series last week and I immediately ordered the book off amazon. I’ve just barely started it but my coworker said the book is really good too!
I don’t typically attend workout classes, I like to do my own thing. But my favorite type of workout is Tabata! It’s fast and intense and you can cover a lot of stuff in a short amount of time.
Hahaha I’ve actually cut my coffee down a lot!! I have maybe two cups a day 🙂 Lately, it’s been one! I have found that cutting back (does give me headaches) but that just goes to show how addicted I was. I’ve been sleeping better at night, craving less sugar, and having LESS ANXIETY!! & YES, it was important to let my readers know that if you’re going to workout that much, YOU HAVE TO EAT MORE! Even if you are trying to lose weight, you have to eat! Your metabolism will crash and burn.
I love putting on IT because it does have 50 spf, so it’s less of a chore and more of a healthy precaution!
I am going to do the same. I heard the book is incredible.
YES, I did a Tabata class the other day actually.
1. I enjoy putting on everything but eyeliner! The part I don’t like is taking it off before bed.
2. It looks so good and has actresses from my favorite shows but I haven’t watched it yet. I need to read the book!!
3. My favorite workout class that I’ve attended is a PowerCut class. The teacher is just crazy but makes it fun.
But that’s the most important part 😀
It’s so good!!!
Lol gotta love crazy instructors!
Workout classes really are the best! I live in Atlanta and do class pass, which is where you can hop around to all sorts of studios. It’s been so fun trying all the different workouts, and they always put me in a great mood.
I also wanted to tell you one of my favorite things about the food you post is how all the ingredients are easily attainable, yet still for the most part healthy. I get so frustrated looking at bloggers who post recipes with the most off the wall ingredients in their food that cost $30 for a container. Weird oils, powders and seeds…plus what is ashwaganda? I really love and appreciate how simple your recipe posts are. It makes you so much more relatable (at least to me haha.)
Yes! They are.
Lol, funny you should say that. I was thinking the same thing the other day while looking at healthy accounts on Instagram. I HAVE NO IDEA what half of these things are. I feel like I’m getting fancy when I use things like Matcha haha But honestly, I want my lifestyle to be EASY!! I love trying new things, but I stick to the basics! The kind of things you can get at a NORMAL grocery store. LOL please tell me ashwagandha isn’t a real thing!?!?
Wow. I’m inspired to go workout now! This is why I love your blog!
Thanks, Jessica!!
Love all these classes you’re attending, they sound fun! I just wanted to write that after reading so many of your work out posts, you have inspired me to push myself into running further. Last year I would run 2, maybe 3 miles (3 was a stretch though) and now this year, 3 miles is no problem! I can now run 5 miles and am wanting to do a 10k this fall, and then maybe a half next year! So thank you! 🙂
1) I enjoy the most basic make up I can find…cover up, little bit of eye shadow, and mascara. If anything, I usually leave the house with at least mascara on. My skin enjoys the summer heat so it breaks out less, which is great. I’ve tried to get into fancy eyeliners and lipstick, etc. but I feel like it’s too much then so I just give up!
2) Haven’t watched it yet but I’m thinking about it! I have heard good things!
3) I’ve recently started attending random classes here and there. I have a few free Orange Theory Fitness classes to use and those have been kicking my butt! Great work out though. Otherwise I really enjoy yoga classes. 🙂
Have a great day!
Hi, Jessica!!
THAT IS AMAZING! I am SO PROUD OF YOU & thank you for sharing!! You go girl.
Haha I give up too. & lipstick and I are not friends. Mascara is my only love.
Ohhhhhhh it’s good. Apparently, you should read the book first! I regret not doing that.
I heard OT is amazing and I need to try it out since they just built it by me!
Have a great week and keep up the amazing work!
xo
HI Taralynn,
The Handmaid’s Tale is a great show but the book is even better. If you ever have a chance, I highly suggest picking up a copy.
That’s what I’ve heard. Wasn’t it written like twenty years ago?
In 1984 – the show modernized the characters a bit to make it relevant. The book is outstanding.
I will definitely be getting a copy!
1. Bleh. Considering I only OWN mascara, I guess putting makeup on doesn’t take me long. But, it’s a big pain, and I usually rub my eyes & then get it everywhere. So I don’t actually enjoy it.
2. NOPE – but I’ve heard it’s a good one & has some eeriely true premonitions in it.
3. I love Zumba! But also different circuit style classes since those aren’t something I’m good at making up on my own. It’s been a while since I went to a group fitness class, most of the ones at my gym are just not at convenient times. Which is a bummer. But I’m hoping to make it to a few soon!
Speaking of college – not trying to pry, though I am a curious person. I forget if you made an announcement about continuing or not? I hope if it wasn’t your jam or the right time in life that you let it go, and I hope that if it’s something you want that you get back to it. 🙂
Hahaha it’s the best part of makeup.
Yeah, it’s really good!!
I wish I was good at zumba lol It’s so fun, but I’m going left when others are going right!! hahaha
Gradually. I’m really busy with what I’m doing right now. I also had to wait a year for instate pricing. It would have been double.
Have a great week!
Hi Tara! I hope your week is off to an amazing start!
1. I only wear make up for special occasions. I have relatively clear yet dry skin, so getting my face in shape for make up is a process. If I’m looking to spruce up my look, a quick layer of mascara works wonders!
2. The Handmaid’s Tale is fantastic! I just watched the finale and can’t wait for more. I also recommend you read the book. While the show makes everything easier to understand, the book is pure gold!
3. I love a good barre class, and I’ve learned that not all barre classes are created equal.
Hi, Kaitlyn!
It’s been a great week so far!
Mascara is a game changer! 🙂
I think I’ll read the book after I finish the show! I know I should be doing it the other way around lol
OMG. Barre is TOUGH! & you are so right…I’ve learned the same.
Hi!
I really don’t like brussel sprouts but it seems a good idea to roast them!
Do you enjoy putting makeup on?
I like it! I can’t really put makeup on at work (it has to be very discreet), so I’m using all my lipsticks everytime I have to go out, even if it’s just fort grocery shopping ^^
Have you watched The Handmaid’s Tale?
One of my favorite TV shows of the moment! I have three episodes left. I always feel uncomfortable after watching it, and recently I’ve been through a lot of stress at work, so I prefer something more fun these days
What is your favorite workout class to attend?
I love barre fitness (I just feel like a ballerina)
Hi, Sofie!
I feel like you either LOVE brussels or hate them. I can’t stand the frozen to steam kind. If I eat them, they have to be fresh!
Oh, teach me your ways then! I want to love it.
I’t so good and I’m going to be so sad when it’s over. If you want something to brighten any mood, NEW GIRL!!!!!!
Yes, it’s a great class!
I am surprised you aren’t reading the Handmaid’s Tale as well.
I heard the book was good!
Wow, you look so much thinner already than your half-marathon pics! I guess running really did cause you to put weight on. Keep up whatever you’re doing!
Make-up is such a chore! I usually just put on moisturizer with SPF and one coat of mascara just to add something to my eyes. Unless it’s a night out. Then I like to glam up.
I don’t think that first comment was very necessary. Maybe it was a compliment. Not sure? But Keep up what I’m doing because it’s making me look thinner? Not sure I liked that.
And I agree with you about the make-up.
It was a compliment. I figured since you are taking “before” pictures and trying to look more “defined”, you are in essence, trying to look better, thinner, whatever. No matter how you say it, you seem to want to look different than you did/do. And you do look different (dare I say better) than you did in the half photos.
Taralynn, you are such an inspiration! Thanks for sharing and inspiring others. Keep shining girl.
XO, Katie
http://www.meshkomoments.com
Awww thank you, Katie!!!!
What are your thoughts on New Girl? Should I start watching?
YES.
YES.
YES.
It’s the only show I find myself cracking up alone to! IT’S SO FUNNY!!!!!!
Omg I LOVE that affirmation jar idea! That HIIT class actually looks awesome – I just saved it to my computer 🙂
It was such a sweet idea 🙂 You need to come to class with me!!:):)
So jealous of your southern weather! My best friend lives in Charlotte and has been snapchatting me pictures of her by the pool, meanwhile it’s rainy and cool up in the midwest. =[
I like putting on makeup if I have time like on the weekends. Usually during the week I just wear foundation, bronzer & mascara to be a little put together for work, but on the weekends I go all out if I have something going on haha.
I haven’t watched The Handmaid’s Tale, but I’ve heard good things about it. Lately my husband and I have been watching Shameless, we’re halfway through the first season and I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it yet.
The last workout class I attended was a power yoga class, and I hated it. I was nowhere near prepared for the class, and I actually ended up passing out. There weren’t many fitness classes to take back in my hometown because it was so small, and now that I live in a bigger city where there are more options, I have a hard time finding one that works with my work schedule. I’d love to take a barre or bootcamp style class, but for now I just do youtube ‘classes’ at home when I want to switch up my normal gym routine!
Yes, it’s so nice down here! I do miss the midwest sometimes though 🙂
Ugh, I need to be more like you! My best friends are SO GOOD about wearing makeup and love putting it on.
I couldn’t get into Shameless! I tried.
omg that is no good! Sometimes it happens though. Yoga can be so hot, and the positions cause lightheadedness! Be careful!
I love putting makeup on, but only for occasions! I also really love going barefaced (which is about 90% of my life)
I have never watched The Handmaid’s Tale, but will put it on my list (I have this huge, ongoing list of movies and tv shows – even books and podcasts!)
I really love doing yoga! We have a free yoga class every week at this shopping area close to my place, and I enjoy doing that! It is a nice change of pace from lifting weights 5-6 days a week!
Quick question: what comment platform are you using?! I love it so much, especially when I come back to comment, my information is already added in! <3 thank you so much!
Me too, girl.
OMG, WATCH IT NOW! You will not regret it. My friend, Meighan, hooked me to it.
Yoga is great. I try to do it a couple times a month.
I just use the comment platform that comes with my blog 🙂 WordPress.
Thank you so much!
AND GIRL YOU ALREADY KNOW IT’S ON MY LIST!! happy hump day, and have a great rest of the week!
I absolutely hate putting makeup on. I think I’ve gone a week now without wearing any also. Kind of nice 🙂 I feel like I don’t really know how to do my makeup to where I don’t look like a clown so maybe that’s why 😉 but just some moisturizer is enough for me!
I’ve had the Handmaid’s Tale on my “list”. I’m going to have to start it soon! I’m almost finished with my other show so I’ll need a new one!
Lol makeup free feels so good. I LOVE the way I look in it, but putting it on is the worst. When I need makeup on, I go for mascara, lipstick, undereye coverup, and a little blush.
I CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR WHAT YOU THINK OF IT!
So happy to see you watch The Handmaid’s Tale! No one I know watches it and I’m obsessed! I watched the entire first season in a little over a week because it was so good. I cannot wait for the next season.
Also, I loved the chicken tenders meal from Blue Apron too! My husband and I agreed it was one of our favorites so far.
My favorite workout is barre! It’s the one workout I actually see results from and I love it since it’s low impact where I can take the class multiples times a week. 🙂
It’s amazing! So much to take in too. Unfortunately, I hate to wait for Kyle to watch the next episode!
I didn’t think I was going to like it! But, holy moly they were good! Did they give you a summer squash or a zucchini?? lol We sometimes get a different vegetable.
Barre is intense! It seems so easy when you see people do it, but NOPE!!!
I was glad to see your disclaimer! I saw the pictures of your food and thought ‘wow are these the only things she is eating with all of those workouts’? I am glad that you set it straight, definitely for those who are highly likely to want to follow exactly your “diet” 🙂 Love your blog!
Hahaha, I felt like I needed to add that in there! I’d be so hangry if I only ate what was on my blog with all of those workouts! 🙂
I’ve recently fallen in love with circuit training too! I take the Core Cardio Circuit classes at CorePower and they’re GREAT. I think my favorite thing about it is that it goes by SO FAST since there’s such a big variety of exercises.
And I geeked out so bad when I saw All The Light We Cannot See!! That book is incredible, it’s so good. You’re going to love it!
I agree with you that putting on make up is kind of a chore. I mean, I love the end product haha but I also just relish the days where I go make up free!
Completely binged out on The Handmaid’s Tale and now am legit depressed that I have to wait for the second season.
Favorite workout class is probably the Core Cardio Circuit or Yoga Sculpt!
YES TO ALL OF THAT. I love that it’s constant movement and always changing!
I can’t wait to read!:) What a sweet gift.
I just need to get better at doing it. I see so many people rock it every day and I wish I could be like them!
Hahaha luckily/not Luckily I have to wait for the weekends to watch it with Kyle!!
BOTH GREAT FITNESS CLASSES!
I rarely (if ever) wear makeup. It takes too much work, I hate taking it off at the end of the day, it’s expensive, and I think I look beautiful naturally!
Girl you are looking incredible! I love how you put up your before photo. It’s a push to stay motivated 🙂
http://www.justbeingbrooklyn.com
I agree! & you do look beautiful natural! I don’t mind throwing on mascara and lip gloss, but everything else makes my skin so weird!
Yes, it’ll get me motivated to make changes!
Love how dedicated you are. I wish I looked like your before photo haha
I’m sure you look beautiful!! xo
I love your blog!!!
Thank you, Lapen!
girl you look so strong and beautiful!! 🙂 we definitely have the same taste in snacks and meals too – those sweet potato fries though…yuuummm and i LOVE that gif t you go! i wonder how she folded the stars???
Awww thank you, Marti!
I LOVE sweet potatoes!!! I have no idea! It was incredible!
1) I hate wearing make-up! I used to like it, but it’s too expensive and makes my skin worse. In high I school I had an incident involving stitches on my face and I wasn’t allowed to wear make-up for a year. It definitely moved me to a no make-up routine, and I haven’t used any in years! If I do again, it would just be for my eyes.
2) Nope!
3) Sadly, as a graduate student, I can’t pay extra money for workout classes. Instead, hiking, trails., and my apartment gym are my go to.
I feel the same way about how it makes my skin feel! Wow, that is insane. I bet your skin was loving how free it was without makeup!
Those are all great ways to get moving!! When it stops being so hot (today is an exception) I’ll be outside more!
Looks like an awesome week to me! Thanks for sharing all the inspirational thoughts and great ideas, Taralynn!
Awww thank you, Tori!!
1. I love putting makeup on but also love going without!
2. Yes, such a creepy but good show. The book is even better!
3. I absolutely love hot yoga. It’s my go-to class.
P.S. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog!
I love WEARING makeup, just not putting it on haha
That is what I heard!
Hot yoga is amazing! I found a love for it while running.
& THANK YOU!!!!
Hey Taralynn,
I have been reading your blog for quiet some time now and i’ve never commented. I don’t know why, I just never have. However, I just want to tell you that you are a huge inspiration to me!! I first started following you when you had your Tumblr and I have absolutely loved following your journey. All of the content you post is amazing and you always give me new ideas and recipes to try. Each week I look forward to your weekly recaps, recipe ideas, and product reviews! You truly are an AMAZING blogger and I feel like I know you personally after reading your posts even though i have never met you. Anyways, I just wanted to let you know how much i love your blog and if you need another show on Netflix to watch, i just stated Riverdale and i’m hooked!
Hi, Carly!
So glad you stopped to comment. I love getting to know my readers 🙂 I appreciate all of your kind words. That just made my day! I’m so happy you enjoy my posts because I truly love sharing them!:)
Thanks for the new Netflix binge! Kyle and I try to watch new shows together, so we are running out!!
Please don’t be a stranger!
xo xo
Have a great week
Taralynn
I haven’t seen The Handmaid’s Tale. I want to read the book first.
That affirmation jar is very sweet.
I hardly ever wear makeup and people think I am younger than I am. I believe in not wearing makeup and using “real” things on my skin and of course, sunscreen. I love rosehip oil too.
Thank you for the workout inspiration. I have been walking 5 miles daily and have inspired my daughter to go too.
I heard the book is better! 🙂
So sweet <3
I definitely think no makeup makes you look a bit younger for sure.
So proud of your walking!
You are amazing, Taralynn! I’m so inspired to workout, but I still feel resistance towards beginning. I often feel tired and groggy, and I dislike most forms of working how. Do you actually like working out now? Was that something that took a while for you to enjoy?
I’ve been there. You just have to do it, and I know that sounds silly, but do it once, you’ll do it twice. Do it twice, you’ll do it 10 more times! I HATE working out when I’m out of shape, and it only takes a week to start feeling like you’re in shape. It’ll also give you energy and the group setting is the best for inspiration. Try out a class, sit in the back so you can go at your own pace, and make it a fun habit. I honestly enjoy it now. SOMETIMES I go through phases where I hate it, but it’s only because I fear that I fell out of shape. It’s all in my head!
I love that you shared your before photo. It’s a great way to stick to goals.
Thank you!
Your muffins were a hit!
Yay! Glad to hear it!
What an awesome week and great recap! The fruit and veg larbars are amazing, have you tried Clif bar they are so good, coconut chocolate chip or crunchy peanut butter are the best ones. The handmades tale is so good definitely going to be a binge watch! I can not stand putting on makeup, but i always have mascara and tinted lipgloss in my hand bag just in case I have a meeting with clients. My favourite workout class is yoga I take the late night class just so I can watch the sun set over the mountains through the windows, it’s so calming yet I walk out feeling like I just did an intense workout. Definitely going to make those blueberry muffins they look so good!
Have a great rest of you week!
Hi, Harriet!
Thanks so much. Clif bars are so good and my favorite is the white chocolate macadamia nut!
OH IT’S AMAZING. I’m having a hard time waiting to watch the next episode, but I promised Kyle I’d wait lol
Yes, the best go-to make up!
OMG, that sounds like a dream yoga spot!!
Let me know what you think of them 🙂
Hope you have a great week as well, Harriet!!
xo
Love the disclaimer as well! I was about to comment to tell you to eat more lol
Lol, I figured I’d get a couple comments like that 😉 But It would be weird if I started taking pictures of the peanut butter spoon, or the random things I take bite of lol
I’m with you on the makeup! Hate it. You look so good without it and I love the natural look. You totally do not look 26 lol I actually thought you were 21.
lol 21? I’ll take it!! & thank you!!
Not at all. The most makeup I will wear to work is mascara and eyeliner.. and even that’s a chore! On the weekends I won’t put anything on unless I’m actually doing something.
I have not! Right now I only have Netflix, however I was considering Hulu because I don’t have cable either (I’m cheap) and I wish I could watch shows that are on tv right now, and I think Hulu has that option, right?
When I was a member at a gym near me, I loved their full body classes where we would alternate weights and cardio — worked up such a sweat! Very occasionally I’ll do spinning, and I want to try out Pure Barre since I can try a week free! I just need to wait for a week where I know I can go more than once to make it worth it.
P.s. Loved this recap!
Same here girl! I LOVE mascara and a little undereye coverup! That’s it 🙂
Hulu DOES show TV shows :D:D It’s only $8 a month.
Pure Barre is tough! I thought it was going to be like yoga, but NOPE!!
& thanks so much!! Hope you’re enjoying your summer, Jennifer!
Your dogs are adorbale!
Aww thank you!
Will you be sharing information on how you and your dad made the outdoor furniture? Would love to know because we are wanting a couch for our back deck but they are SO expensive! Thanks!
WE WILL 😀
Your before picture looks like what I’d love my after picture to be!
I bet you look amazing!
I recently started getting my eyelashes permed (lifted) and tinted. It’s completely eliminated the need for me to wear any mascara. It is a bit pricey ends up being $125 but lasts for 8 weeks! I’m so love with it – I love waking up and looking “awake” already, plus I can put mascara on still if I really want to. In the past 12 weeks I’ve only worn mascara twice (for a wedding and bachelorette party) it’s been the best investment! 🙂
I’ve never even heard of that lol. Crazy! Does it ruin your lashes at all?
Thank you for adding a disclaimer!
NP 😉
Love the post!
Thanks 🙂
I agree! Classes are motivating. I love the group of girls at my gym and it’s the only place I have made new friends.
Aww that is wonderful!
I can’t believe the three ingredient recipe works in the waffle maker!
It worked so well! A lot of people have issues flipping them, but the waffle maker cooks them fully!
I need the same motivation!!
Just do it girl!!
Love the new Lara Bars! Can’t wait to try one. I also love your versatility in workouts. Keeping things fresh is key to leading a healthy life and not burning out.
THey are so good!!!
I get so bored if I don’t switch it up. So important! 🙂
You are seriously just the coolest gal~~~ I have followed you for years and your blog just gives me so much positive energy and motivation!! The gift from your friend just melted my heart. Huge inspiration to do for some of my friends! Even just the affirmations! Costs almost nothing, but completely brightens up someone’s day! What was an example of one of the affirmations?
Thank you for adding the disclaimer about your “snacking” and you saying you don’t photograph everything you eat! Of course we understand that you can’t do that, but it was so nice to hear you say that you still snack and grab things to eat! Made me feel better about myself! I hope you didn’t have to say that because you were getting mean comments!!
Thank you Taralynn for sharing your life with us!
Hi, Hannah!!
Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!:):):)
ok I have a silly question…I know that you often make sweet potato fries. My lord how do you cut them? I’ve tried and have never accomplished that task. TIPS, please!!!
I wish there were workout classes where I live. I’m in the middle of no where. I would have to drive 40ish minutes away to find one 🙁 They look awesome!! Keep it up!
MICROWAVE THEM OR BOIL THEM FIRST! THE SOFTER THE EASIER!:)
Youtube workouts will be your best friend!
Omg where did you get that jewelry organizer????? I love it and have been looking for something similar!
I got it on Etsy! 🙂 https://www.etsy.com/shop/FineArtHolders
Your blog always makes me so hungry! The food looks awesome and it sounds like a fun week!
Thank you, Kirstin!
Hello! I love the gift your college friend gave you! Do you know where she got the affirmation jar? Or is it homemade? Thanks!
She made it 🙂
Love the motivation & inspiration here!
thanks!!
Hey Taralynn,
What gym did you used to go to in Atlanta? I recently moved here and am in search of a good gym and would love to know which one you liked!
P.s I love your blog!
Thank you!
Hi, Lindsey!
I went to Fitness Tri in Norcross 😀
Haha still tired from it!
