I’ve done such an awful job at keeping one of my new year’s resolutions, dining out. When you live in a city full of great food… it’s hard! You’re forced in becoming a restaurant foodie. Not only is the food good, it’s convenient with my schedule right now. Once my days become more consistent, I’ll be able to get off the dining out train. I have been working out more, which KIND OF makes up for it.
My friends have been trying to get me to try Waffle House since the first day we met. And for the record, going to Waffle house does not make me a foodie; it’s just a place you have to experience once in your lifetime. I usually correlate waffle house with drunks and broke college kids because that’s what I usually see on social media. Monday night, we couldn’t decide whether we wanted sushi or breakfast. I took it to Twitter and you guys all helped me choose breakfast. After choosing breakfast, we decided to finally do this Waffle House thing.
I ordered the All Star breakfast because it had a little bit of everything for under eight dollars. It came with a waffle, bacon, scrambled eggs, wheat toast, hash browns, and coffee. The food was decent, but after eating at Stacks, and other CLT restaurants; it’s hard to enjoy anything else. It was the experience that made it all taste good. But, I’ll probably stick to Stacks from now on 😉

You’re right to associate it with drunks and broke college kids. The only time I ever went was at 4am after a night of drinking.. while in college lol. But hey, during those moments waffles are pretty darn good!

I have yet to try out a Waffle House.. I know they are big down south…. but I may just have to try it out after looking at your pictures 🙂

We don’t have waffle house, but we are getting a Sonic soon in upstate NY so I get what you mean about it sort of being one of those places you can say you went…But after going to Italy, I’ve learned one thing for sure– no place with pictures of the food on the menu is probably too great. It worked in Italy, and I’d bet on it working here.

Waffle House is delicious on road trips when you’re starving or if you’re slightly hungover, haha. It’s cheap but I agree-it’s no mind-blowing waffles!

I went to Waffle House ONCE in Tennesse. As an OC girl, it’s quite different from anything here! But we have the Original Pancake House (not IHOP!) and it’s soooo good. You’d love their veggie omelettes!

Whoa, wafflehouse! We have a breakfast house but not a waffle house(maybe they’re more or less the same thing…) but hey, enjoy it if you’re going to go, right? You still have like, 358 days to make up for all the dining out in the beginning of the year.

I like Waffle House okay, but you should definitely look up Jim Gaffigans comedy routine about Waffle House. So funny!

I’d just like to point out that not all college students are destitute. 🙂

First time?! Oh, well I’m glad you got to experience it at least once!! The All Star breakfast is a great choice for trying it all 🙂 I definitely wouldn’t say waffle house is “good,” but it’s more about the experiences made there (usually 2-3 am with friends) that always seem to be the best!

Here’s the thing about Waffle House, you don’t go there when you want a nice weekend brunch. You go there when you’re hungover on a Sunday morning and just want someone to plop some hashbrowns in front of you. You go there at 1am after hanging out with friends and nothing else is open. You go there when you’re a little broke, but can afford a $5 hamburger (instead of a $20 dinner out somewhere else).
It’s not gourmet or fancy. It’s good, cheap, and fast. It’s always there when you want it. And if you grew up in the south, you probably have several high school and college memories associated with it.
