R. Country Cafe: Good Food…Eh Service.

This morning, I ran some errands with my parents. We went furniture shopping for my new place in the South and also picked up some groceries. I’ll do a post after this about our awesome farmers market and grocery finds!
After all of the running around, we got super hungry so we decided to stop in Bloomfield and eat at the town square. We found a little cafe that looked good and we decided to eat there. We were the only customers, so we knew the service would be fast and it was! But it’s unfortunate that the waiter did not want to be there. I’ve eaten out a lot (not a great thing to admit) and I’ve had horrible service and great service. I mean…this guy acted as if we were some kind of criminals and he did not want us there. He was grumpy, he didn’t smile, he used maybe three words to his sentences. It was just a cold place to eat. I knew he was capable of a smile because as soon as he put our order into the kitchen we went back to the booth to cuddle and giggle next to his girlfriend. I’m not one to bitch about restaurant service, but if I was the owner…I’d be working on my employee’s attitudes.
On the plus side, the food was really good!
My dad ordered the double cheeseburger. The fries tasted like Long John Silver’s. Yes, I’m a fry thief.
My mom ordered the breaded tenderloin. She said its as great.
I had the grilled chicken salad. It came with hard boiled eggs, the devil’s tomatoes, cheese, grilled chicken, and ranch on the side! I ordered a little side of cottage cheese, too. Even though the food was really good, I probably wouldn’t eat there again because of the unwelcoming behavior from our waiter.

I honestly would call and let the owner know. I work in customer service and I have had complaints on my attitude as well (I hate admitting that but it’s the truth) maybe the employee just needs to be reminded that your experience as well as the food is important. Sometimes people just need to be reminded.
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy reading your blog. The posts inspire to me eat healthier and exercise more. Keep it up!
You’re moving?! Where have I been?! WHY?!
P.S. Love your blog so much! You’ve inspired me so incredibly much.
Hi Taralynn! I am a huge fan and have read your entire blog! I love your story, you are my biggest inspiration/hero/idol! Anyway, long comment short, I know your parents live in Iowa and you visit them often, and I know you are very busy, but if you happen to come through a small town in Iowa called Monticello, could you let me know? I live there and it would be amazing to get to meet you in person. Again I understand if you can’t, it’s a lot to ask especially from someone you don’t know, but if you happen to come through it would be an honor to meet you!:)
I’ve been reading you for a while and a few weeks ago I just got confused, but now after I read the new “about me” I understand! Stay strong and happy, that’s the most important thing! You’ll always have us (and Mr.Grumps)!:)
I hope you’ll post a lot about your new home! I hope one day I’ll be able to move to the USA (and hopefully I’ll find a cozy, friendly south city)!
