Made It To South Carolina! (Dining out, Hotels, & More)

Two days later…

I’ve made it! I am officially in South Carolina. I want to see as much as I can during my time here. You all have helped me out so much on deciding where to go! Thank you so much.

Yesterday morning, we were in Lexington Kentucky. We stayed off the highway at the Best Western Conference Center. It was dog friendly and very comfortable!

They had a complimentary breakfast bar provided for us. I’m an early bird and like to have a little breakfast with my coffee before walking the dog.

I had two of their yogurts, rice krispies and a mini muffin.

After relaxing, I decided to pack up my things. When I’m traveling, I keep a little overnight bag to take into the hotels rather than carrying around my luggage.

After packing, I took Grumples for a three mile walk. We still had eight hours left of driving and I wanted to tire him out.

Driving through the mountains was gorgeous! It made the ride more enjoyable. Oh..and it was 88 degrees…

Entering South Carolina was a joy too! We went through so many cute and charming towns. I know I’m going to like it here! I’ve always wanted to buy an older house full of character.

We got to the hotel around 7pm! We were soooo tired and could have passed out, but we were also hungry. A co-worker called us to meet him and his wife at Applebees for dinner. It was right next to the hotel, so we walked up there.

I ordered a side Caesar salad before my meal.

For my entree, I ordered their savory cedar salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly. I wasn’t a fan of the vegetables and potatoes. They didn’t taste “restaurant style” more “microwaved style”.

After dinner, we drove over to the apartments we will be living in. They are adorable and have a great running path!

This morning, we headed down to breakfast to meet a co worker and his wife. I am so excited to be in South Carolina with them. We did a project in Valdosta Georgia with the same coworker and he’s a blast. He’s a jolly old man! His stories are hilarious and I could listen to him for hours.

The breakfast at the hotel (Hampton Inn & Suites) was fabulous! They had everything. I had yogurt, peanut butter and jelly toast, fresh fruit, mixed nuts, and coffee.

I brought Grumples breakfast in bed:)

Today we will be moving into the apartment and his company is going to furnish it thank goodness! I’m glad we didn’t have to drag all of our things this time.

  1. I love when hotels have complimentary breakfasts! I’m so jealous of the temp where you are – it’s 28 degrees here in Michigan!

    1. So glad I’m out of that weather! It was a rough winter:( But the summer in MICH was great!

  2. Welcome to SC Taralynn! If you make it to Columbia, check out the Riverwalk (great place to run!) and the Saluda is a great place to go tubing. Enjoy!

    1. I’m in columbia as well! Me and my pup love doing the river walk, and stopping for a picnic snack in the sun 🙂

  3. It looks like you have Jeremy on a leash in that photo… lolol

  4. My husband is also obsessed with Clash of Clans! It’s insane! So much so that I have thought of looking for a support group. He’d never know I was gone. HA! Enjoy your time in the South.

    1. If you find one…please let me know lol He wakes up in the middle of the night so his village won’t get raided……….

  5. Make sure you check out the Outer Banks while your in the Carolina’s! It’s so pretty there and there’s tons of stuff to do 🙂

  6. I worked at Applebees a long time ago and I promise you those vegetables WERE microwave-style. Blech.

  7. I LOVE all the pictures of the south. I was born and raised in Lexington, but I have been living in Denver, Colorado for the past year and a half. I miss the south and the hospitality incredibly! Please keep posting beautiful pictures!

    Cheers!
    Mal 🙂

  8. Mmmh.. everything looks delicious!
I lived in Charleston, SC for 2 1/2 years when i was little. I loved it and i hope that i can move back there in the future. What i loved most about charleston was the great food. Especially the sea food. And if you get the chance you have to walk along the battery at sunset, it’s beautiful!
I hope you enjoy it 🙂

  9. hahaha your boyfriend looks EXACTLY the same as mine in that picture. I’m 23 and he’s 24 and he’s always making sure his phone stays on so he can finish his attack haha. The other day I asked him when he “wins” hoping he’d say soon and that it’d be over but he said something along the lines of it could never end lol

    1. hahaha it’s the worst! I’m kind of like that with candy crush but that’s all he does! Sometimes he talks about the raids and missions (or whatever you call them) so seriously like its a REAL thing….

  10. While you are in North Carolina you should check out sliding rock and Flat Rock Playhouse!

  11. I can’t believe you were right here in Lexington at the beginning of the month. Just wanted to say hi, and thank you for being such an inspiration and a lovely person in general. It’s soothing to read a blog or watch a vlog from someone who is sweet and kind. P.S. Grumples is seriously making me consider larger dogs, he’s so cute! Most of the dogs I like have always been smaller. Of course I have my hands full with my pug right now, Lola. So life’s good. All the best.

  12. So happy you’re not with that jerbofratboy anymore
