Oh, what a day!
This morning I woke up with a mild sinus infection, headache, and felt “off”. I haven’t been sick in years, so I thought this was my brain fighting my 5 am swim. I had all my clothes and bags set out before going to bed to save time when I got up. I grabbed my laptop lunch container and filled it with blueberries and nuts to eat on the way to the pool. I needed a workout fuel, but a light one because swimming and large meals do not mix. After slugging around, I finally made it out the door.
When I got home from my workout, I brewed a well deserved cup of coffee. I hopped on the couch to watch Kelly and Michael while catching up on some work. My mild sinus infection, headache, and “off” feelings suddenly increased. I kept telling myself I wasn’t sick, but eventually gave up the fight. I had to face the fact that I as defeated.
To lift my energy up, I chopped up an avocado and added blueberries, almonds, pecans, and honey. I think it’s important to eat when you’re sick, even if you don’t have much of an appetite. Nuts and avocados are great for sick days because they are high calorie, contain protein, and healthy fats.
After sleeping and resting most of the day, I finally worked up an appetite . I made salmon, roasted vegetables and avocado slices for dinner just in time for Extreme Weight Loss.
Next time I wake up feeling “off”, I am going to listen to my body and take a rest day.
