It was an early rise for all of us on our second day in Maine. We wanted to fit in a breakfast before heading to the beach to meet up with some family friends.
As you can see, we went to Wild Blueberry Cafe.
I’m really bad about keeping my nails painted, so I had to show off my freshly polished look.
The Wild Blueberry Cafe was tucked away in the Ogunquit village. It had a cute little front porch and a closed-in side porch. They sat us in the back because we needed a larger table. We all started with some coffee and complimentary blueberry muffins. The blueberry muffins were a little too hard to eat, but it’s the thought that counts. They were good dipped in coffee. (maybe that’s what they’re meant for)
I ordered fresh fruit with honey almond greek yogurt. I also ordered a side of bacon because it sounded so good. The fruit was really really fresh and I loved their Greek yogurt. It wasn’t too sour and it was thick.
Berry crepes. Unfortunately they tasted as if they were sitting in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
After breakfast, we went back to the hotel to change and get ready for the beach.
It was a little chilly and overcast, but perfect for a calm day of relaxing in the sand. I’m sure it wasn’t chilly to others, but coming from 100+ degrees with 80% humidity, I wasn’t used to it yet.
Before we hit the beach, we grabbed some groceries and ingredients for a couple of beach drinks.
We loved Wells beach. It was perfect for walking; they have a really cool rock jetty too. I ended up doing that a couple days later.
The water was ICE COLD! I don’t know how people were swimming in it!
Walking down the beach was enjoyable. All of the houses were cute and pretty to look at. I love beach houses!
I was very surprised with how clear the water was. For some reason, I always thought Maine had darker water.
Around noon, we walked a mile down the beach to have lunch at Forbes. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich.
Forbes soft serve was the best I’ve ever had! Soft serve will never taste the same now. It was icy/milky/sweet and tasted like homemade ice-cream from home. Gosh it was good!
Soft serve has been my favorite since I was a kid and I haven’t had a good cone since Iowa. We used to drive to Grahams and get soft serve on Sundays.
We walked back to the beach to meet up with our group. I wasn’t going to let this gem melt.
The sun finally came out and within minutes later, it started pouring.
After relaxing a couple of hours, we all got ready for dinner.
We decided to go to La Pizzeria in Ogunquit. The wait was 45 minutes and so we walked up to Hamburgers Harry’s to grab a drink.
The stairway was really cool. The restaurant was upstairs and overlooked the town of Ogunquit.
The little bar area was adorable!
I love windows with lights. It was so cozy up there.
Long Islands…
I don’t remember much from there…(kidding, but whoa was that strong)
We finally got into the restaurant. We all ordered antipasto and split some pizza and bruschetta.
We ordered lobster pizza because when in Maine…
After dinner, we all went back to the hotel to bundle up in some warmer clothes so we could go see the movie Antman. Don’t ask me or Phyllis how we liked the movie because we slept through the entire thing. I don’t even know how that happened, but it did. I’ve dozed off for five minutes before in a movie theater, but never the entire movie.

I am loving your recaps, I can’t honestly say I’d ever considered going to Maine before for a vacation, but I am now! I love that you posted the mask picture of Joe! I’ve got 4 brothers, and I love posting embarrasing photo’s of them, but watch out he may try and get you back! I know mine have posted some not so flattering ones of me lol. I’m glad you took time away from blogging to just enjoy yourself & family! I think everyone needs to do that from time to time. Can’t wait to read more, and you’ll have to go see Antman again! It’s incredibly funny, and come on Paul Rudd is gorgeous!

Thank you Ashton!
Hahaha Joe has definitely got me on the embarrassing photos! I agree about the Maine thing. I had seen photos of it before and never thought it could be as great as it looked, but its better than the photos. It’s literally magical 🙂 You really should see it sometime in person! And taking a break from blogging/social media was easy there because I just wanted to live the moments forever! I’m bummed I miss Paul Rudd, but thank goodness for Redbox!
xo

I have lived in Maine my whole life and I just recently went to Ogunquit for the first time this Summer.. (Don’t ask me why because now I am so sad I never went before- it’s perfect) I was also surprised at how clear the water was in that area, and it actually felt much warmer to me than the other beaches I’ve gone to. So glad you came to visit and had a great time!

I bet you’ll be back again and again! You are so lucky to live in Maine. I can’t wait to go back!

Those blueberry muffins look more like hard scones with a glaze. It’s the worst when something looks amazing and then it falls short or is hard though. Booo!
Can you post a hair tutorial for your braid and pulled-back style??! It’s super cute and casual!
Taralynn McNitt says
Haha they needed some help! & THANK YOU for the compliment. I’m trying to find ways to wear my hair without straightening or curling. Lately its just a frizzy mess but its going through a phase lol.
