Last night I made some pretty darn good grilled turkey burger lettuce wraps to eat while watching Dancing With The Stars! I’ve meant to make these for weeks now, and I’ve had the ground turkey in the freezer just waiting for me to cook it up. This meal was quick and straightforward; it only took about 45 minutes to prepare and cook it all. Once Dancing With The Stars comes on, I’m hooked to the television; I love Monday nights! My favorite dance couple is still in the game, Riker & Allison!
Burger Ingredients: *1 lb ground turkey, * one large egg, *1 tablespoon olive oil, *1/2 small onion, diced, *1/4 teaspoon black pepper, *1/4 teaspoon sea salt, *1 teaspoon garlic powder, *1 tablespoon of low sodium soy sauce, *1/2 teaspoon onion powder.
Sweet Potato Fries: *1 large Sweet Potato sliced, * sea salt *olive oil for frying.
Extras *lettuce *tomato *avocado
Heat your grill on high, or you can bake these on 350.
Time to get your hands dirty! Throw meat, spices, sauce, and the egg into a mixing bowl and mix with your hands.
Form six big juicy patties! & throw them on the grill.
I cooked them on the tin foil until they were half cooked and then removed the foil and cooked them directly on the grill.
The sweet potato fries were fried in olive oil for twenty minutes and then shoved in the oven for 25 minutes on 425. Make sure you continue to flip!
I felt great after eating dinner like this. It was healthy, full of protein, fiber, and healthy carbs! The turkey burgers turned out great; they weren’t dry like most ground turkey burgers, and they had tons of flavor!

Yes!!
My dad makes turkey burgers just like these and they are always so great and moist! Oh, and Riker and Allison are my favorites too! I’m thinking Dancing with The Stars is going to be hiring him next year!

They should! I had no idea who he was when he joined the show and now I just love the kid! My choices completely changed after watching his dancing. I can’t believe his Pirates of the Caribbean dance didn’t get all 10’s and he was in the bottom after that! It was the best of the season so far. I like Rumer, but I think she’s had a lot of dance training.

Speaking of dancing shoes, I can’t wait for sEason 12 of SYTYCD! I think it’s better than DWTS.
Taralynn McNitt says
ahhhh i gotta disagree! lol

Turkey burgers are my favorite burgers! I’ll have to try your recipe with the soy sauce, I usually go more the Mediterranean route with flavors. Yum!
Taralynn McNitt says
Mediterranean is a great way to go too!
Lauren says
Is the egg what keeps the turkey burger moist? I’ve never tried that…mine always turn out dry!
Taralynn McNitt says
Yup! My mom does it with her meatloaf too.

This looks like such a great meal! I tried sweet potatoes fries for the first time a couple weeks ago and now I’m hooked!
I was so happy to see Riker safe last night! He’s one of my favorites too. 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
For the first time?! Welcome to the other side 🙂 Who is your other fave? Mine is Nastia & Robert!
Melanie says
haha right?! Took me long enough 😛 My other favorite this season is Chris and Witney! The Anniversary Special tonight was so good!!

Hi! Could you clarify what you mean by fry for 20 minutes?? that seems like a whole lot of time. I don’t think even normal french frys go in a fryer for that long? did you mean 2 minutes? or pan fry?
Burgers look great!
Taralynn McNitt says
I put them on a stove top to fry and it took about ten minutes of browning on each side to cook on high heat with olive oil. I guess just watch them to make sure they don’t burn. I don’t use a fryer so that may be different!
Carrie says
It sounds like you’re sautéing them. Is there a difference?
Emily says
yeah it seems more like sauteing or pan fry which makes more sense with the 20 minutes 🙂 I just made sweet potato fries last night and did a quick pan fry. delicious! definitely try it with a ton of cayenne/cajun seasoning!
Kate says
How much olive oil do you use?
Cassie says
As much as I would switch to a plant-based diet, I love turkey too much XD hahaha! These look awesome!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks!! 🙂

Those look delicious Tara! I recently did a recipe post for turkey lettuce wraps that included feta cheese and spinach – YUM!
Taralynn McNitt says
Yum! I do that with my salmon patties!
kristen says
Do you fry them in a deep fryer? Sometimes I will boil potatoes then put them in the oven to crisp. Maybe I’ll try it with fries since it’s healthier than frying! I’ve also made really thinly sliced potatoes into crisps in the oven. So good, especially with a little oil and vinegar!
And I HAVE to ask…what are the little stars in your ingredients for?! I keep thinking there are footnotes lol!
Taralynn McNitt says
I just put them on the stove top with olive oil in the pan and let them brown 🙂 The stars just separate the ingredients.
kristen says
Ah I see. Truffle infused oil is great for doing a light fry on the stovetop. I love doing it with asparagus!
And you know commas do that too 😉
Danni says
Frying sweet potatoes….mmmm “soo healthy”….
Taralynn McNitt says
Frying sweet potatoes in olive oil is VERY HEALTHY. Frying them in vegetable or or butter wouldn’t be.
heather says
Danni was unnecessarily curt. However, I wouldn’t say it’s VERY HEALTHY, either, personally(#cookingschoolstuff). Probably searing, or not frying at all and just baking is VERY HEALTHY. 😉
I’d eat like all of those burgers myself lol.
Alyson says
1 tablespoon of olive oil has 120 calories and 14g of fat. Best to bake these babies on baking paper if you looking for a healthier option.
Monica says
I put caramelized onions in my turkey burgers! its a game changer, you gotta try it 😉
Taralynn McNitt says
That sounds awesome! I do that with my sloppy joe turkey burgers!

Yum! Those burgers look awesome! I want to go to Sams Club soon and get their bulk ground turkey.
I FINALLY got to go grocery shopping this evening and it was so nice because Food Lion is expanding their organic section and they also have good produce. I was able to look through a lot of good stuff!
Taralynn McNitt says
I saw that! They had organic cereal bags for 89 cents. I bought like four bags of cheerios lol.

I love sweet potato fries but it took me a while to get them just right. I cut them into cubes, drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper. I turn the oven on to 450 and basically roast them. At then end, I turn it to broil to brown them just a little. My husband just loves when I make those.
Love your blog!
Taralynn McNitt says
Sounds like a great way to make them!!

Made these last night! Thanks for another great recipe!
