A Best Friend Trip to the Mountains | Hendersonville, NC

I came across an unpublished post this morning from when Becca and I traveled a few hours up to Hendersonville for a little 24 hour best friends getaway. It makes me sad that it has been so long since we have had one, and at first I thought it might be too late to share these photos. But you know what, who cares. We had the best time, and it happened during one of my busiest seasons as a mom and bakery business owner, and it was so needed. I cannot let moments like this go undocumented on my blog, especially when so many moments from that year already went unshared.

Black Bear Coffee Co – Hendersonville, NC

Anytime I pass through Hendersonville, it is a must to stop for coffee and lunch at Black Bear Coffee Co. They have the best sandwiches, wraps, desserts, and coffee drinks. I used to always order their chicken Caesar salad wraps, which were amazing, but since they took them off the menu, I went with a club sandwich, a chewy ginger cookie, and a creamy cappuccino instead.

One of the best parts about driving through Hendersonville during the spring is the flowers and tulips that fill the boxes and beds all over town.

Skylaranna Resort & Spa

Becca found a cute little resort with cabins, a heated pool, and the perfect spot for a fun little girls trip.

And you know the first thing we did after a cold winter was soak up the 65 degree weather, which always feels warm after being in the 40s, and sit by the pool grabbing some sunshine.

That morning I delivered over 500 St. Patrick’s Day desserts to a local coffee shop, and I was exhausted from the night of prepping. I was so ready to get the heck out of dodge. It was also my first time leaving my son in a while, and I could not stop thinking about that sweet boy.

We ordered lemon blueberry mocktails, read our books, and relaxed for a few hours before heading out to explore.

The resort sat on so many gorgeous and scenic trails, some with hidden ponds. Not only did I find my very first four leaf clover, but it happened on St. Patrick’s Day. What kind of luck is that! 🍀

We sat at a table out in the woods by the pond, admiring the little free range chickens running around, and enjoyed how peaceful and quiet the entire place was.

We stopped at the grocery store on the way up since we did not feel like grabbing dinner somewhere that night. We wanted to relax on the patio with a girls dinner, a charcuterie board and snacks, and our little mocktails while the sun set.

Don’t ask me about my hair choice. I thought it was cute at the time! HA!

The views were gorgeous, and of course we both love cake for dessert and picked out something yummy to celebrate our little getaway.

We stayed up late eating bags of chips, gummy bears, and watching rom coms on Netflix!

No matter how late we stay up, we are both always up before the sun on trips. I know I can always text her at 4 am and she will respond within seconds. This is why we are the best travel pair. We decided to wake up early, walk around the grounds, pack up, and drive out early to grab bagels and coffee before hitting the road.

Joey’s Bagels

We stopped at Joey’s Bagels, an absolute must. These reminded me so much of the bagels you get up north, and they even make their own homemade cream cheese. It was amazing. We grabbed extras to take home with us too, and their coffee was delicious.

Sometimes all you need is a little 24 hour trip with your best friend to reset the soul. 🤍
