The Most Delicious Blackberry Cobbler Recipe!

I knew I was going to make a blackberry cobbler before we even picked the blackberries—it’s one of my absolute favorite summer desserts, especially when it’s still warm and topped with vanilla bean ice cream.

Since my mother-in-law was visiting, I knew I had to make it extra good. Thankfully, it passed the test—she couldn’t get enough!

This recipe uses simple ingredients, is incredibly easy to throw together, and makes the perfect last-minute dessert for a summer get-together. The flavor? Unreal. I made it gluten-free since we were hosting a friend for Father’s Day dinner who eats gluten-free, but you’d never even know. The buttery flavor, the crisp edges, and that cookie-meets-cake topping were out of this world. I already can’t wait to make it again using blueberries—or maybe even rhubarb!

This blackberry cobbler recipe is going to be a summer staple!

Picking Fresh Berries in the Summer

I live for summer days on the local farms. There’s just something magical about exploring the flower fields, picking fresh produce, watching my son run wild on the playground, and dreaming up all the recipes that come after we’ve filled our buckets with berries!

This year, we’ve already picked strawberries, blueberries, blackberries—and next week, we’re heading out for peaches!

Last week, we spent a dreamy afternoon at Ivy Place Farm, a STUNNING slice of farm paradise. We picked buckets on buckets of fresh berries. The blueberries didn’t even stand a chance—we ate every last one within a week! (Definitely need to plan another visit soon!) The blackberries were the star of this delicious blackberry cobbler and a few even made it into homemade yogurt popsicles and smoothies.

Supporting Local Organic Farms

how to make your recipes better with local!

There’s just something special about using farm-fresh berries—both in taste and in how they make you feel. When you shop local and support organic farms, you’re not only getting produce that was likely picked that very morning (hello, peak flavor!), but you’re also choosing fruit that’s grown without harmful pesticides or synthetic chemicals. Organic berries are often richer in nutrients and antioxidants, and when they haven’t spent days in transit, their flavor is next-level—juicier, sweeter, and more vibrant. You can truly taste the difference in recipes like this cobbler. And beyond the flavor and health perks, supporting local organic farms helps sustain small businesses and promotes more responsible, earth-friendly farming. It’s a win for your body, your community, and your plate.

Instructions for The EASIEST Gluten-Free Blackberry Cobbler

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. Add the blackberries to the prepared dish. Pour in the melted butter and sprinkle the sugar on top. Gently fold everything together until the berries are well coated in the buttery sugar mixture.
  3. In a separate bowl, prepare the crumble topping. Sift together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. Slowly stir in the milk until a thick, cake-like batter forms.
  5. Pour the batter evenly over the blackberry mixture in the baking dish. Use a spatula to spread it gently, covering most of the fruit.
  6. Bake for about an hour, or until the top is golden brown and the center is fully cooked. If the edges begin to brown too quickly, cover them loosely with foil.
  7. Allow the cobbler to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. This helps the filling set and makes slicing easier.
  8. Serve warm with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, or your favorite dairy-free topping for the perfect summer dessert.

How to Store Blackberry Cobbler

  • Room Temperature:
If you plan to eat it within the day, you can leave the cobbler covered at room temperature for up to 12 hours.
  • Refrigerator:
For longer storage, cover the baking dish tightly with foil or transfer slices to an airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to 4–5 days.
  • Freezer:
Blackberry cobbler freezes well! Let it cool completely, then wrap it tightly or portion it into freezer-safe containers. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating.
  • Reheating Tips:
Reheat individual servings in the microwave for 30–45 seconds or warm larger portions in a 300°F oven for 10–15 minutes until heated through.
