Savannah is one of those places I’ll never get tired of visiting. A few years ago, Kyle and I even considered moving there. We usually visit in the peak of summer, which is never a good idea if you’ve ever experienced Savannah’s heat. This time, we visited in December, and the weather was much more bearable. We tried a few new places, stayed at a new bed and breakfast, but of course, went to a few of our favorite spots. Our bucket list is to stay at ten different bed and breakfasts in Savannah, and we are halfway there!
Since we didn’t get to visit Kyle’s mom in Florida during Thanksgiving this year, we planned a trip a few days after Christmas to meet up in Savannah. She booked us two nights at the Ballastone Inn, which is a gorgeous bed & breakfast in one of the best locations! This B&B was high on my Savannah bucket-list. It’s stunning.
If you’re looking for a great Savannah travel guide, check out this post here! It’s my ultimate guide to a weekend in Savannah, Georgia. I wanted this trip to be a lot more casual. I brought my camera with me and snapped some photos as we walked around. I almost didn’t share this blog, which is why it’s months late, but I enjoyed the photos and wanted to share them with you.
It’s usually a three-hour drive for us to Savannah, but with all of the traffic, it took us around five hours to get there. That called for warm coffee once we arrived in the afternoon.
The Ballastone Inn was decorated so festively for the holidays. Even though Savannah has mild temps, the entire city was in full holiday mode. It was like a mini southern NYC during the holidays. We stayed in the cozy Scarborough Fair room. This home was turned into many things after being built in 1838. It was a residence, a boarding home, apartments, and a bordello (yup, even that!) Savannah has some really interesting history, and you’ll learn most of it during the walking tours or trolley rides. How much of it is true? Well, that’s up to your imagination.
The Christmas decor was breathtaking.
The Ballastone Courtyard
Breakfast at the inn was delicious. I had their gluten-free oats with fresh fruit, hot coffee, and gluten-free toast.
One of my favorite features at the inn was the staircase. You could look down on the top floor and see to the first floor.
One of the reasons I love visiting Savannah is that it’s a super casual spot. You can grab a drink (no open-container law), dress comfortably, and walk around the city for hours. Of course, one of the best parts of Savannah is the food.
We had dinner reservations at Fitzroy for the evening. I’ll be adding this to the Ultimate Savannah Guide because it was delicious! 😋
I ordered the Arugula apple salad without blue cheese and salmon on top! We also split the aioli fries! The food was perfect. The only thing I regret is not ordering the brussels sprouts. I’ll have to do that next time because the table next to us ordered them, and they looked amazing!
How cute was this poodle family at Forsyth park?
Camellias, all around the squares ❤️ , I cannot wait to plant these at the new house.
Of course, it’s not a Savannah trip without stopping into the Paris Market 💜
For an afternoon pick-me-up, we headed to my favorite coffee shop, The Coffee Fox. I highly recommend their almond milk cappuccino, the gluten-free and vegan berry muffins, and their no-bake energy balls. We always stop here on our way home to buy all of them in the case to take back with us.
For lunch, we had Fox & Fig. We were excited for Kyle’s mom to try this place out. It’s another one of our favorites in Savannah. It’s a plant-based restaurant with the most delicious food, guaranteed to please anyone!
Tostadas Verde: Auspicious Baking Co. ciabatta, key lime avocado mash, Foxy Loxy Cafe salsa, pickled red onion, chia, hemp, and pumpkin seeds!I ordered the Fox Burger with a beyond burger patty, caramelized onions, arugula, agave-dijon, chive cashew cheese, avocado, with gluten-free bread and voodoo chips. This lunch was mouth-watering. The food in Savannah may be why we always to want to go back. Now, can Charlotte get a fox and fig? Please? By the way, look out for the Voodoo chips in your grocery store. They are the BEST kettle chips I’ve ever had. They have a bit of sweetness and mild spice. After resting up the rest of the rainy afternoon and enjoying a good book by the fireplace at the bed and breakfast, we headed out to walk around before grabbing dinner. City Market is always a bumping place during the weekends with live music, free praline samples, and excellent restaurants on the streets.
We stopped into Chabella for dinner. None of us were that hungry because of how good lunch was, so we split a few items before throwing in the towel for the evening.
I can’t believe we had been to Savannah so often but never road the trolley. Honestly, it’s a must! This is the best way to get around the town for 24-hours, and you’ll learn so much about the history of the city. I really enjoyed it! Before leaving Savannah later Sunday afternoon, we stopped at another favorite, Zunzis, for lunch. I always get the salad with chicken, avocado, roasted vegetables, and spicy Zunzis sauce! 😋
Thanks for stopping by to read today’s blog post. I know it was more of a casual travel post, but I hope you still enjoyed it!

I have not been to Savannah, but it’s definitely high on my bucket list! Tybee island, too.
This answer surprises me, but actually NYC! I’ve been quite a few times and could easily go back 20 more times!
Staying at a B&B is actually on my bucket list too… usually what I find it too expensive and I just back down to regular hotels 😅 clearly I need to change that when I visit Savannah!
Taralynn McNitt says
Ahhh yes, love Tybee!!
I think a lot of us feel that way! I never feel like I “saw it all” when I visit!
Bed & Breakfast IS the way to go in Savannah!! The key is to staying on a weekday!
