The perfect holiday snack mix for parties and gifts: Buddy The Elf Sweet Maple Chex
Happy Thursday!
Last night, I decided to make a recipe that was sent to me from General Mills, Buddy The Elf Sweet Maple Chex. They always put together super fun and thoughtful PR boxes. I thought this recipe would be such a fun one to share on the blog just in case you’re looking for a delicious and easy decant snack mix to bring to a holiday party this season! It’ll also make the perfect treat for bagging up for coworkers or family. Kyle’s response after taking a bite was, “no, you have to throw this away; it’s too good.” That’s when you know something is a win!
If you leave out the nuts, it’ll be a perfect school-friendly dish. And if you trade the pretzels and wafers for gluten-free ones, it’ll be a perfect gluten-friendly treat.
Not only is this recipe absolutely to die for, but it’s also gorgeous! And who doesn’t love a no-bake treat? It’s perfect for serving at a bowl for all the guests or packing up in school baggies for a holiday treat. This recipe is easy to make, and you can double it up, depending on how much you need.
I filmed the process and included it in tomorrow’s vlogmas if you want a visual as well 😊
Ingredients:
find the recipe on the Chex website here
- 4 cups Rice or Corn Chex™ cereal
- 1/4 cup maple-flavored syrup
- One tablespoon butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups mini vanilla wafer cookies
- 1 cup mini pretzel twists
- 2/3 cup white vanilla baking chips
- Two tablespoons festive trees or other holiday sprinkles (red, white and green)
- 2 cups Cinnamon Chex™ cereal
- 1 cup roasted and salted almonds
- 1/4 cup miniature marshmallows
- Two tablespoons candy-coated chocolate candies (red and green)
- Two tablespoons milk chocolate chips
Mix the maple syrup with the butter and coat the plain Chex in a large microwave-safe mixing bowl.
Microwave the coated Chex for one minute, stir, and then repeat that process three more times!
Spread the microwaved Chex out on parchment paper to dry. They’ll taste super candied when done!
Spread out the pretzels and wafers out onto a sheet of parchment paper.
Microwave white chocolate chips in a bowl, and drizzle the melted chocolate over the pretzels and wafers. I used a spoon to drizzle the chocolate, but you can use a baggie or piping bag if you prefer.
Toss decorative sprinkles over the drizzled white chocolate.
In a large bowl, mix the nuts, microwaved Chex, Cinnamon Chex, and coated pretzels and wafers. Top with marshmallows, M&Ms, and drizzle with remaining melted white chocolate.
Melt the milk chocolate chips, and drizzle another layer on top. Add more sprinkles if you’d like (i did! 😊)
Once it dries, you can break it up some more. Serve in baggies or a serving dish.
Here are the directions from the Chex Website! 😊
