Happy Monday! 🍎
Unfortunately, I won’t be coming at you with a recap post today, but it’s for a good reason. I’ve been working on the next blog for our home build series, which will go live tomorrow. It’s with all the fun stuff like lights, design options, and you’ll get a better idea of what our house will look like. We got some pretty good news this morning, and it turns out, our home will be ready in the spring! It was supposed to be ready by mid-summer, but the builders got all the permits and are ready to start earlier. That means I’ll have a lot of updates coming at you within the next few months.
Today, I wanted to share some photos I took while visiting the Windy Hill Apple Orchard with Caitlin this weekend. It was the perfect day to spend outside, and coming to the apple orchard has been a fall tradition (because three years in a row makes it a tradition, right? 😉)
The apple orchard is out in York, SC, and if you live in the Charlotte area, you must make a drive out there. Oh, and don’t forget to bring your pup!
You can order a flight of their ciders and their fresh apple cider donuts. I had to get my parents a pack of them because it’s their favorite, and I was heading over to their house to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes football game later that evening. Kyle was visiting his friends in Boston, so it was a great night to have dinner with my parents and play cornhole with my dad. We are FINALLY getting fall weather.
I ended up getting a new lens this past week, so it was the perfect place to try it out at. 🍎
Next to the apple orchard, there are several other farms you can explore! Some of the farms have fields of sunflowers, pumpkin fields, and they are all great for farm-fresh produce and fall photo ops!
🍎
I love that the orchard had chickens walking in and out of the orchards.
I took a few other fall photos this weekend that I wanted to share here! I know this post is random, but these photos have me in the fall spirit, and I was excited to share them with you.
I guess the ultimate goal of this post was to say “HI” and share the fun news about the house! I’ll keep you all posted with the details tomorrow!
Questions for you!
- Do you visit apple orchards in the fall?
- Do you think I should make a separate IG account for real-time home updates? (or is it ok to spam my account with house updates 😂 ?)
- Apple pie or pumpkin pie?

Hi Taralynn,
I don’t get to visit apple orchards in the fall because i live in Florida and there aren’t many. I usually go up north at some point every Fall though and I love them!! SPAM your account with house updates – I love it and I am excited for you!! Would love to see a vlog or two about your home building office – I just recently discovered your vlogs and I love them! (fingers crossed for Vlogmas again 🙂 & pumpkin and apple pie is too hard to choose – I would take a slice of both lol
Taralynn McNitt says
But you get the beautiful orange groves!
Love that you’re up for my SPAM!! 😂
I hope to do vlogmas!! 😃 😊
slice of both? you’re my kind of gal! xo xo

I live in South Africa so our seasons are different and we don’t get fall like you do in the USA. My brother lives in Boston so 2 years ago, when I visited, I got a real taste of ‘fall’ and all the leaf peepers. It’s probably one of my fav seasons. Starbucks in South Africa spoils us with PSL this time of year even though it’s very much sunshine and spring. Keep at it girl, I’m living through you this fall 🍂🍁 I think just spam your normal account- add a new highlight tab. That way all of us are sure not to miss the updates 😘 x
Taralynn McNitt says
I bet that was such a fun trip to Boston! They have a gorgeous fall. & so cool your Starbucks has PSL year round! I wish they had our peppermint mocha lattes all year round 😋
& that’s smart! I did add the new highlight, so I need to just spam over there!

I say spam your own account, it’s to much work to manage multiple accounts. I live in southern California and we go to Oak Glen apple orchards every year it’s my favorite and I am obsessed with there pie & cider, Don’t get me wrong I LOVE PUMPKIN EVERYTHING..,.. however I’ll take French Apple pie any day! Also I have to say that last picture of Grumples & Kyle smiling in the back is the cutest! I hope you frame it!
Taralynn McNitt says
TRUTH!
French Apple Pie 😋 & I love that you go to the orchards in Southern California! How fun 😊
I will totally frame it. Definitely my favorite photo ever.

Loooove all of the fall photos :))) What kind of lens did you get? A macro lens?
Also, I think spamming us with house photos is just fine 🙂 I just can’t wait to see pics! As for pie, it’s a toss up! During this time of the year I like apple pie BUT around Thanksgiving time I like pumpkin 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Glad you’re down for the spam 😆
I ended up getting a new lens for my Canon Mark 5d iv! It’s the EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM lens & im loving it so far!
Yes, seasons make all the difference between the two!

No apple orchards for me either, I wish we had that in Florida!
It’s just too hot to get excited about walking around in the Orange Groves, lol!
Can’t wait to see the house updates, thank you for taking us along on the adventure! I don’t mind if you SPAM us.
Not a big fan of pumpkin or apple pie, I would probably choose pecan pie. My mom’s is the absolute best! My cousin just got married and instead of the typical wedding cake, we had pumpkin and pecan pies.
Taralynn McNitt says
That is an awesome idea for a wedding!
Glad you’re up for the spam 😂 I’ll be down in Florida in a few weeks! I know I’ll get that dose of heat too!

Love the photos and the feelings of Fall! We like to go apple picking as well and my family enjoys the fresh apple cider donuts (I can’t eat them ;-( . Looking forward to your home updates as well. PS. I LOVE your boots.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Kim!
I’ve had those boots for so many years, and they’re my fave! 😃 I feel ya on not being able to eat the donuts 😢
Shannon D says
I love a good apple orchard! Just hate how crowded they can be! But those doughnuts and cider look to die for!
I say just spam your account with house stuff. I would think most of your followers are interested in the wide variety of topics you cover so why not add one more! Plus I love polls and voting on that kind of stuff so maybe add those to your story as well for fun?
You could also include wedding planning posts too? Or are you conquering house stuff before diving into the world of wedding planning and all that good stuff?
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Shannon!
I agree, but luckily it wasn’t too busy like last year! Usually, when they have events, they get packed!
You’re right! 😊 & yes, polls are so fun!
I’m just enjoying the first couple of months of engagement before I get too involved in that! & the house stuff first for sure.
Rachel says
Yay! That’s so exciting about the house!
I love visiting apple orchards in the fall. Especially one in my hometown in Kentucky!
Please spam your own account! I’m so excited to see house updates!
Also apple pie all the way!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Rachel!
I bet Kentucky is gorgeous this time of year!!
spamming away!!!

I’ve lived in Texas all my life but I just moved to Pittsburgh and I am SO excited to finally visit apple orchards!! We don’t have them in Texas and I’ve always wanted to go apple picking. Spam away, can’t wait to see everything!! I’m not a huge pie person, but around the holidays I will definitely have a slice of both! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
What a move! & i bet you’re so excited to experience the fall season!

The apple orchard and those donuts look amazing! Are your pups golden doodles? Curious I know you posted before about how you groom them. What do you use? Their coats always look so good!
