We all live unique lifestyles, and our self-care routines can vary. For me, my self-care routine involves waking up early in the morning and giving myself about an hour to have my cup of coffee, going for a walk with my dogs, or editing some photography. If I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed at the end of the day, my self-care routine will include me taking the time to make a cup of hot tea and sitting back in a bubble bath while listening to a podcast. My self-care routine is filled with simple things that keep my mind at ease and force me to take a small timeout from my normal schedule. Let me know in the comments what your self-care routine looks like.
I am partnering up with CVS Pharmacy for today’s blog post to talk more about self-care and how you can find convenient self-care solutions at CVS Pharmacy. What’s a bath without bubbles? A book without a facemask? Or a movie without a big bowl of popcorn? Whenever I’m having one of “those weeks,” CVS Pharmacy is my go-to place for all of my self-care essentials.
Exciting things happened at CVS Pharmacy this month! They have just launched their new “Tested to be Trusted” program, and I’m excited to talk more about it. Although I love to pamper myself during self-care, it’s more than just that. It’s an important part of proactive health care.
Every single morning, I take vitamins and supplements. It’s been a part of my morning routine for years, and I love searching for the best brands. Treating my body well on the inside is most important to me. I pay attention to ingredients and labels, but that doesn’t always mean I can trust what’s written on the product. With the Tested to be Trusted program, I can rest assured that what I’m reading on the label IS what is inside the product. This makes me feel more confident in shopping for products that keep me healthy at CVS Pharmacy.
CAN YOU TRUST YOUR VITAMINS & SUPPLEMENTS LABELS?
The Tested to be Trusted program created by CVS Pharmacy, requires third-party testing of ALL vitamins and supplements sold in-store and online to confirm the accuracy of the dietary ingredients listed on the supplement facts panel and to confirm products are free from certain additives and ingredients.
How to know if the vitamin or supplements has been through the Tested to be Trusted program? Look for a supplement facts panel. That’s how you’ll know that you’re getting exactly what you’re seeing! The program tests two important things. 1) A dietary ingredient review and test to verify that the dietary ingredients listed on the supplement facts panel are in the product in the amount stated. And 2) a contaminant review to verify there are no harmful levels of certain specified contaminants in the product. It gives me total peace of mind that I can trust what I’m buying and putting in my body. This is especially important for me, as I give my dogs fish oil every day, and I love knowing that CVS Pharmacy can help keep me (and my dogs) healthy!
CVS Pharmacy has always had rigorous standards in place for their exclusive brands, but they are just taking it one step further. The Tested to be Trusted is CVS Pharmacy‘s commitment to you and your family. They are always going above and beyond to fulfill promises made to their customers, and that is why I love partnering with them. I’ve been a loyal and happy CVS customer for years, and they have never let me down!

MY SELF-CARE UPDATE:
A little over a week ago, I shared on Instagram a few of my struggles. I’ve always been the person that liked to battle their problems alone, and to be honest; it hasn’t always worked out in my favor. I tend to bottle things up, and sometimes that leads up to a burst of tears when I can’t hold back anymore. I realized that I need to start being more open and lean to the people closest to me. I realized that I needed to focus more on my overall health, including mental health, more often. Having a small daily self-care routine is crucial for me and my overall health. I’ve been spending more time with my thoughts without all the distractions, and it’s allowed me to have more self-reflection. Spending time to check in with yourself is important, and it’s a lot easier to do without all the extra noise around me.
Here’s how I’ve been removing my self-care from the backburner:
- Long bubble baths with hot tea and a good podcast.
- Morning vitamins with breakfast, coffee hour, and a dog walk every morning.
- Keeping up with my running routine.
- Planning travels.
- Cleaning – this one may be an odd one for some, but a good cleaning session puts me in the best mood.
- Coffee date with a friend.
- Cooking a healthy meal.
- Playing tennis.
- Reading a book with a facemask.
- Watching a good movie with a big bowl of popcorn.
While I was out of town this weekend, I stopped into the CVS Pharmacy in Savannah Georgia to pick up the sunscreen we forgot to pack, some snacks to have at the hotel, toothpaste, and a basket full of more vacation essentials! ♥️ It’s really convenient that there is CVS almost always in the places I travel to.
I’m so happy that I get to share all of the details on what CVS Pharmacy is up to, and I look forward to sharing more with you this summer! I love this company and all the positive changes they continue to make. As an influencer, I am happy that I get to partner with a company like them.

Great post, Taralynn! 🙂 I think the program’s great. We need more transparency when it comes to food and ingredients! I don’t take any supplements myself since I get them all from my food, but I think they’re great for people who may need them! ❤️✨

Hi Taralynn!
Since I’m pregnant I have to have some kind of self care routine or I would go insane! I take my dogs for a 30 minute hike daily and find time to prepare healthy meals for my week day lunches. Cooking keeps me sane and I find it so therapeutic. It’s just about the only alone time I get now. I also sit down with a cup of hot peppermint tea & read a good book to try to relax. I LOVE the Tested to be True method. It is so important I know exactly what I’m putting into my body when it comes to vitamins, Right now I’m only taking my prenatal but I need to be looking into more. I think this is amazing! Looove it! Thanks for sharing.
Taralynn McNitt says
Love that you take self-care seriously! You deserve it. 💜

I take vitamins every morning! I make sure to have a self care face routine every night as well. Makes me wind down for bed, and makes my skin feel better!
Taralynn McNitt says
love a good face skin care routine! especially before bed!

I have grown to love your blog over the past 7 ish years. I value your honest opinions and real ness, so I trust that you’re honest about CVS and their products. They’re lucky to partner with you!
1- I love working out and running, but I don’t always feel like having an intense workout. On those days, I make sure to atleast get some sort of walk in. I’ll head outside at whatever pace I want, and walk with a good podcast! It helps me clear my head and just wind down.
2- I think the tested to be trusted program is great! Since vitamins aren’t always FDA approved, it’s nice to know they put in the works for us so we know we can trust what they sell!
3- yes, I try my very best to take my multi vitamin every night after dinner! Sometimes they upset my stomach, so since dinner is usually my biggest or most dense meal, I find that works best! I should set an alarm every day so I don’t forget, since leaving them on the counter isn’t enough!
Thanks for a great and informative post! It’d be cool to win the giveaway!

I feel lucky to partner with them for so many years! Always blown away 😊

Every day I make sure to do some sort of active movement in order to lower my stress. This can be anything from jumping with my kids at skyzone, to a leisurely walk to a high intensity training session at the gym!

I love the Tested to be Trusted program. It makes me really feel better about what I am putting into my body! I need to get to CVS soon!
I try to practice self care as much as I can. Baths, face masks, some red wine, retail therapy and always a good run or pool day! I also love listening to podcasts or books on Audible to zone out!
I take elderberry every day! It helps my immune system and I have really noticed a change in how often I get sick
Taralynn McNitt says
LOVE elderberry! my boyfriend’s mom got me hooked on it!!

I have to be honest I don’t take time for myself and believe me it shows. I have taken notes from the comments to start a plan just for me. Will go by cvs tonight to get the supplements you mentioned. Thanks so much for the article it made me realize I need to take time for myself.

– I wash my face at night and floss. This is something is something I’ve started and it makes me feel better about my self and feels like I’ve accomplished something, plus I’m sure my dentist appreciates it.
– I love that they’re doing this. I like knowing that i can trust that any vitamin I choose to purchase whether it’s a familiar brand or a brand on sale, I like knowing that I can depend on it’s efficacy regardless of what brand I chose or what’s available at the time.
– I take vitamins everyday. Now that they make gummy versions of almost every vitamin, it makes taking them not only easier, but something I look forward to every morning.
Taralynn McNitt says
Lol i do the gummies too!!
Anne says
I don’t really have time to do anything in the morning but I do enjoy my coffee on the way to work. At night it’s usually some wine to wind down. It soothes me to sweep my floor everyday and get all of the dog hair out.
I really should start taking vitamins but I never can make that part of my routine.
Taralynn McNitt says
Putting mine by my coffeemaker helps! You could maybe keep yours at work?
cleaning is therapeutic to me as well!
Amanda says
1. The most important part is my bubble bath every day. I work shift work so this is either before I head to work or the evening before bed! I put it in my eucalyptus bubble bath and have either a coffee or a tea and scroll instagram or read or meal plan!
2. I love this program. We don’t have CVS in Canada but I hope my favorite drug store comes up with something like this, it is SO important to know that the products you’re selecting aren’t doing more harm than good and are doing what the label says.
3. Yes! I even have my own little day of the week pill separator that all my friends enjoy calling me gramma over! lol!
Taralynn McNitt says

Tell me one thing you do each day to practice self-care – walk my dog Louie when I get home from work, do a 30 minute workout at night and a bath before bed 🙂 if I’m not too tired from the day I love to read as well. On Sunday’s I like to do a face mask and relax!
What do you think of the Tested to be Trusted program? AWESOME
Are vitamins and supplements apart of your daily routine? Yes, I take multi vitamins daily (I put one out for my husband before he gets in bed as well!) and currently take prenatels 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
😃 walking the pup is the best self-care routine!

I wish I had a CVS near me! There was one nearby in college (and I went all the time) and I miss it!
Yes, vitamins and supplements are part of my daily routine. I try to make sure I’m eating a well balanced diet so that I get most of my vitamins and minerals through food, but I find that supplements can help cover some of the gaps. I’m currently looking for a good probiotic and I need to start taking fish oil, since unfortunately I don’t like seafood. I’ll have to check out Tested to be Trusted, it sounds like a valuable program! 🙂

To question #2, I am honestly blown away by the efforts this company has made for it’s customers. I don’t think we as consumers realize how much blind faith we put in the labels of the products we buy. I think this Tested to be Trusted program is very distinctive and I will definitely find myself at CVS for more than just my prescriptions!
Taralynn McNitt says
Exactly!! They are always making changes that impress me.
Savannah DeLeon says
Self-care is spending quality-time on my balcony reading a really good book. I try to do this in the warmer months for at least 45 minutes after work to decompress from staring at a computer all day.
I try to take vitamins and supplements, but am always stressed about the ingredients.
Taralynn McNitt says
love that!
Stephanie says
I couldn’t live without my daily vitamins and supplements!!! Third party testing is extremely important to me since I don’t want to waste money on a product that doesn’t work effectively.
We have a brand new CVS in town so I’m going to pop in after work to check this out. Thanks for the Inspo as always!
Taralynn McNitt says

Breeanna says
Hello!
1. When I feel stressed and need some self-care, there are tons of different things I like to do, ranging from exercising to reading to using face masks. I think that if I had to consider one daily form of self-care, it would probably be my evening walks (especially with my dog, Oliver!). There is something very relaxing about watching the sunset, feeling the breeze and breathing in the cool night air, and being surrounded by the neighborhood’s beautiful flowers and plants.
2. I think the Tested to be Trusted program seems great! Like you, I take vitamins every day, and it’s important to me that the supplements are actually beneficial for my health and well-being. Knowing that this program exists is pretty comforting, especially since some vitamins can be costly and it would be very disappointing to pay for a non-quality product.
3. Yes! Currently, I start my day with Vitamin C and cod liver oil supplements. Throughout the day, I also take a B supplement, Niacinamide (supposedly helps with acne), MCT oil, turmeric, magnesium, and a grape seed oil capsule (also for skin care). I also occasionally take dandelion root and when I’m not feeling well, I like to supplement with garlic and zinc. Thanks to your blog, I add collagen peptides to my daily smoothies, and I also add Amazing Grass greens. I think that these vitamins do a pretty good job because I rarely get sick, never have joint pain or inflammation issues, and generally have a clear complexion. Health and wellness is a huge part of my life!
Taralynn McNitt says
love Amazing grass!! Sounds like you have your routine and vitamin/supplement routine down!!
Ali Zaiac says
1.) epsom salt bubble bath and a face mask to detox the day
2.) sounds awesome cvs is always on it!
3.) just prenatal! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

I have a love/hate relationship with vitamins. Lol.. I start off really good for a few weeks and then fall off. I’m also super picky about my vitamins as I have a super sensitive stomach. Im notorious for not eating breakfast (I know .. I know.. ) and can’t take anything without food in my belly. Currently, they are not part of my daily routine but after reading this I will be making it a priority for myself. Self-care is a struggle for me, but have been slowly working it back into my life.
Taralynn McNitt says
Small changes are the best way to go. Maybe taking them at night will help
Ann says
I ALWAYS take my vitamins everyday along with going to bed at a decent time! And, I HAVE to use moisturizer on my face and body. EVERYDAY! Also, love the Tested to be Trusted program from CVS, it’s such a peace of mind! Thanks for letting us know Taralynn! 💜

Tell me one thing you do each day to practice self-care.
I take the time to make sure to wash my face and brush my teeth properly. It’s so simple but it’s necessary to do so morning and night to keep my sanity.
What do you think of the Tested to be Trusted program?
I love that this is a thing. It’s scary to think that the labels could be wrong and this takes that fear out.
Are vitamins and supplements apart of your daily routine?
They used to be but I find that if I miss one day I get sick. I either need to be all in or all out. I make up for it by eating very intentionally.
Taralynn McNitt says
Definitely scary to think about it.
Love that it’s the small things that are used for selfcare! xo
Cassie says
I love this program so much! I think it’s great and brings awareness to people who may not pay attention and think all supps are the same.
I take vitamins every morning and ashweghanda root every night to help reduce cortisol levels ever since I found out mine were elevated slightly and consistently.
I also give myself about an hour each morning to gratitude journal, meditate/just breathe, drink my water, and just relax before I do anything client/work related. I’m on my phone & computer all day long blogging or checking in with my clients or doing work in my fb group with them. This hour to myself helps!!
Oh and a bath with my sisters bathbombs a couple times a week with a book. She has an all natural beauty care line so I mainly use her products! The bathbombs are my fav now that I have a tub haha
Taralynn McNitt says
♥️ Great routine!!

1. For self-care I take time to slow down and just be happy in the moment. I try to just soak in being outside and enjoy nature. Imagining shapes in the clouds or just breathing in that humid Iowa breeze!

1. I have a lot of different self-care avenues, so each day I either read with a facemask on, turn my phone off!, cook a new recipe or just completely tune out and playing some old video games haha.
2. I haven’t heard of the Tested to be Trusted program until now 🙂 Sounds like a great initiative!
3. I don’t take vitamins, but I feel like that is a habit I should start!

Hi Taralynn, I have been in love with your blog lately, it has inspired me so much.
i had a pretty bad eating disorder a few years ago and then after that I just ate whatever i wanted for a few years treating myself to the things i deprived myself from for years and now i am slowly recovering into a healthier overall lifestyle while still enjoying some of those treats. I am obsessed with your smoothie recipes! thanks to you i feel much better and am living a much healthier lifestyle than the two extremes I got caught up in before.
I love to practice self care. Every morning before work I get up and do some stretching and yoga for 45 minutes. While doing so I listen to the affirmation podcasts on spotify. This helps me get the blood pumping before the craziness of work and sitting in an office all day. After this I make myself a coffee, and (if its nice out) sit on my porch and write in my planner for the day. I always like doing this after my stretching/yoga and morning affirmations as it inspires me to set goals for the day. Overall doing this on work mornings keeps me happy and starts my days off on the right foot. I also love to treat myself to a spa night when my husband is out of town. face masks, hair masks and a bath with bath bombs is how i like to recharge if i have had a crazy week. I would love to make vitamins and supplements a bigger part of my routine. Thank you for partnering up with CVS and doing a giveaway that is so kind of you!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you so much, Maddy!
I’m so happy to hear you’re on a road to recovery. So proud of you.
Sounds like you have a pretty solid self-care routine! Keep it up.

1. I usually take a long shower at night to unwind, but I’m definitely going to start trying to take a relaxing bath more often.
2. I like the idea the a third party will be testing the products.
3. I am trying to be better about taking vitamins, but it is so easy to forget! I have bought a few recently and I’m trying to be more consistent.
Taralynn McNitt says
I keep mine with my coffee cups so I see them first thing in the morning.

I love CVS and love this program. Too long has mental health been stigmatized. Having suffered with depression for most of my life, I’ve found that BODYPUMP and BODYFLOW at golds gym are so important to my well being! I take vitamins too, the cvs brand hair skin and nails as well as fish oil and B12.
Thank you for using your “powers” for good!!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Amanda!!

Being a new-mom, self-care can be hard to get in. However, I commute an hour each way to work- during that time I listed to music and sing my lungs out. It is very therapeutic and makes for good ‘me’ time.

You deserve all the self-care!
Christianne Neely says
One of my favorite self-care routines is ending the night with some stretching and reading before bed. Honestly I love the idea of the tested to be trusted program. I am big on vitamins each day and I want to make sure that what I am putting in my body is safe!

As a single mother with a full time job sometimes it’s hard to find time for myself. I like to use my commute as my “me” time. Sometimes that’s the only time for the day I have for myself. Depending on my energy I may jam out to music for an energy boost, listen to a podcast or even talk out loud to the universe.
Taralynn McNitt says
Love that you turn that commute into a time for yourself!

I follow my evening skincare routine. I also started dry brushing not that long time ago 🙂

I love how convenient CVS is! Their vitamin section is the only one I trust outside of an actual supplement shop and this makes it even better. I have an autoimmune condition and supplements have been a part of my routine for a few years now. I love playing around with different combinations to see what gives me more energy and helps me feel better throughout the day. This Tested to be trusted program will definitely help with that. =) Thanks for sharing the tip!
Taralynn McNitt says
And all of their BOGO on vitamins too 😃!!
Kaylin says
I’m super impressed with CVS taking up the Tested and Trusted program. When I first heard about them initiating this program in all of their stores I instantly switched from a Walgreens shopper to a CVS shopper (sorry, Walgreens). It bothers me that the FDA doesn’t better regulate the supplements offered to consumers in our country but it has to start somewhere with someone making changes to the model. Cheers to CVS for stepping up!
Taralynn McNitt says
yes!!
Danielle says
1. I love doing a face mask or practice gua sha! It relaxes me and makes my skin feel so good.
2. I think this program is great! I love how CVS actually cares for their customers and their well-being.
3. Yes! I take a multi vitamin, vitamin C, and a probiotic everyday!
Taralynn McNitt says
Face masks for self-care! yes please!
Miranda Hahn says
It probably sounds so basic and you would think everyone does this, but I’m not to sure. I like to take off ALLLL my makeup before bed, use a gentle face scrub and then I rub in some hemp oil infused with lavander all over my face. I look forward to that before bed time every night. It’s a little thing but I feel so good after.
Testing products for us is awesome! Way to go CVS!
I DO take multivitamins. I got a tip to take them at bed time because some have made me feel a little nauseous taking in the morning. If I’m sleeping while there working, I’m none the wiser. So yes!
I’m fascinated with Collagen and want to try all the brand’s!
Taralynn McNitt says
I’m always trying the new collagen products at CVS lol Their collagen aisle is impressive!
Laura says
1. Every day I wake up two hours before i need to be at work, drink a cup of coffee while I watch the news/read blogs. I need this time!!
2. I think the program is great and more companies will probably start doing this!
3. Right now I just take a multivitamin but I’m always looking for new supplements to increase my energy levels and make me feel my best!
Taralynn McNitt says

3. Yes. I take Vitamin B & D, Turmeric and Ashwaganda (an adaptogen that helps you stay calm and helps with exhaustion).
Also, for #1 I try to do a few things for self care (coffee, morning walk, face mask, praying) each day but then it becomes a chore and I stress over the fact that I “have to” do self-care (except for coffee, I go to bed getting excited over drinking coffee in the morning). I think I am doomed when it comes to just slow-down and relax! 🙁
Taralynn McNitt says
I’ll have to try Ashwaganda!

I always wake up 45 minutes before my kiddos to have coffee and get my mind set for the day. Also taking a walk anytime helps me mentally! I’m slowly becoming much more aware of cleaning supplies, personal care items, etc. and the ingredients so I love the Tested program. I don’t normally take supplements and vitamins unless I’m pregnant!
Taralynn McNitt says
My parents did that when I was a kid and I’d always wake up to sit with them. I’m sure it defeated the purpose, but now I wake up early for that morning time. Same for me when it comes to the cleaning supplies!

1. I’m a full time working mom and grad student. My kids are 2 and 6 weeks so self-care is always on the back burner. I do love mornings when I wake up before the kids and I can drink a (hot) cup of coffee and read a book. Sometimes the hubs and I stay up late and share a bowl of popcorn!
2. As someone that doesn’t have the best nutritional knowledge…it’s reassuring knowing there’s that extra set of eyes watching out for you. Now a days you can’t trust what you learn on the internet
3. Prenatals just for me, Vitamin D for the baby. Probiotics for the toddler.
Love the CVS posts, because I always find new things to look for! I also love that you can shop on the app and they ship to your house haha

Well, you’re an amazing inspiration for all the mamas out there.

One thing I do every day is a skincare routine.Wash my face, toners, eye cream, serums & moisturizers. Also masks a few times a week.
What do you think of the Tested to be Trusted program? I think it’s a really good idea, it’s nice to know the truth behind products.
Are vitamins and supplements apart of your daily routine – no…. I’ve tried them before but I don’t know enough about them to know what I should be taking.
Taralynn McNitt says
Skincare is the best!
Best to talk with your doctors about vitamins. Some people need them and some don’t!
Corinne says
I excercise every day☺️

One thing I do each day to practice self-care is my nighttime skincare routine! It really helps to signal the end of the day and start winding down for bed! Plus I know my skin is probably thankful I’m taking care of it!
Taralynn McNitt says
agree!!
Mandi says
Hey! I love your blog! I currently take my vitamins at night but often forget, I really like your method of taking them in the morning as a part of a routine. I agree that it’s so hard to know what vitamins are the best ones to take so I’m all for the tested to be trusted program. I had no idea it even existed!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Mandi!
Hopefully more companies can follow their lead! XO

I like having routines throughout the day, as It helps with my anxiety. So my mornings are pretty much dedicated to my dogs (or college): i Feed them, clean their water bowls and we play a little. Then in the afternoons i get some studying done And afteri clean the backyard afteri my dogs and i’ve been enjoying having some tea and hanging out with my mom. I Also enjoy going to bed quite early
Taralynn McNitt says
Early to bed is the key to a great day!

I kind of want to answer all of the questions!! haha
Tell me one thing you do each day to practice self-care.- I’ve been working on this! Usually it’s doing a bible study or just a face mask!
What do you think of the Tested to be Trusted program? I have never heard of it, but it sounds amazing! I will probably buy all of my supplements from CVS now.
Are vitamins and supplements apart of your daily routine? When I remember to take them, yes! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
😃 love that! I get a prayer sent to my phone every morning.
The supplements at CVS are amazing and a lot of the times they have great BOGO deals.

1. I do a lot now that I am typing it! I take baths, read sooo many books on Scribd, watch Hallmark movies daily instead of intense or depressing shows, workout daily, try new recipes which calms me 🙂
2. I think it’s fantastic. As consumers, most people probably already assume this is a standard.
3. YES! I really like Olly.
Taralynn McNitt says
Awww so much yes for those hallmark movies!!

I love the idea of the Tested to be Trusted program. So many products have gunk/toxins in them! It can be overwhelming.
Yes. After going to see a naturopathic dr. for endometriosis he put me on several supplements. Collagen, vit D3 and others…
Taralynn McNitt says
My doctor always put me on D3!

I start my morning off with a cup of coffee before getting ready for work and I also try and do a short yoga session when I come home a few nights a week.
I think the Tested to be Trusted program is much needed. We have the right to know what is in the items we buy.
Vitamins and supplements are a part of my daily routine, but I am trying to incorporate more.
Taralynn McNitt says
Coffee before everything 😃
Robin says
In the summer, my self-care is to step outside as soon as I make my cup of coffee. I take my pup and we go in our backyard. We water the flowers or pick a few weeds out of the flower pots. I’ll sit on my swing and just enjoy the freedom of the moment. It’s a great, simple routine to start my day.
Taralynn McNitt says
Love that! 💜
Melissa says
I’m with you! Having a cup of coffee and relaxing is the best start to my day and is my favorite self care routine. I hang with my cats and can wake up and relax!
Taralynn McNitt says

Hey Taralynn!
It’s so fun to see what works for other people when it comes to their self care routine, so thanks for sharing 🙂
I love early mornings with a good cup of coffee and my snuggle bug cat. It’s so peaceful and I always feel motivated to take on the day. A friend of mine a few years ago suggested a practice of writing down 5 things your grateful for each day, I instantly fell in love with the addition to my routine because it gives me such a positive perspective as I go though your day!
Loved this post!
Taralynn McNitt says
Sounds like you have the perfect self-care routine!!
Liz says
I take multivitamins and collagen daily!
I had no idea about the Tested to be Trusted program at CVS, but that makes me more likely to purchase supplements from them in the future!
Taralynn McNitt says
Collagen allll day! xo
Heather Barnes says
I’ve recently started implementing yoga into my routine, even if it’s just for 10 minutes. It helps me feel stretched, strong, and empowered. Quality time with my boyfriend and cats are important to my self-care. So is coffee on the patio early in the morning before the world wakes up!
Taralynn McNitt says
Love that! & coffee on the patio? yes, please!

I use my bullet journal everyday. Creating each week’s spread helps channel some of that creativity I don’t get to use at work and it keeps me on track mentally. I track what I eat, habits, my to do and my exercises. It just keeps my head in a good place.
I actually don’t take any vitamins or supplements. I took a multivitamin when I went vegetarian many years ago without consulting my doctor first and ended up starting to lose my hair! I had too much of one vitamin stored in my system and it was reeking havoc on my body. Since then I always check in with my doctor during my yearly physical to see if I’m missing anything in my blood work. So far, I’ve always been good 😀
Taralynn McNitt says
I agree that it’s always important to chat with your doctor before taking any vitamins!
Kari says
Go to a workout class!

Vitamins and supplements are a new part of my daily routine. I started taking them once a day about a year ago and I love it. I take a women’s daily vitamin, olive leaf extract, and calcium. Each of these vitamins help me to feel that best I can on a daily basis and help to keep my body healthy.
Taralynn McNitt says
Never heard of taking Olive leaf extract. Ill have to look into that!
Stephanie says
I always stay up for a few hours after my kiddos get to sleep. I need that quiet time. Although I’m trying to be more of a morning person and spend my quiet time in the morning so I can get to bed earlier. I just know I NEED that time to myself. I think the Tested to be True program is great! Wish all companies would do that! I’m working on being consistent taking my vitamins/supplements.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Stephanie!
That morning quiet time is the best, and I bet it’s even better since you have kiddos.
♥️

Thank you for pointing out Tested to be Trusted! I have an autoimmune disorder that requires me to take lots of vitamins and be very careful what I put it in my body so this really helps with my peace of mind. This is also a great way to educate most people who aren’t aware of the guidelines and restrictions. I have been using CVS for my vitamins and I will definitely keep using them as my #1 source now!
Taralynn McNitt says
Love hearing that you use CVS! Glad you’re staying on top of your health!!

Love this post <3 My selfcare typically involves me going for a walk, listening to Frank Sinatra, drinking tea, and laying with my dog (Winston) as I watch a light-hearted show or read. I also find cleaning oddly relaxing.. so if I am stressed I tend to go on a cleaning spree haha
Taralynn McNitt says
LOVE THAT! Frank Sinatra’s song That’s Life is the best when you’re having one of those days.
I’m right there with you on the cleaning part!
Alissa @ PositiviTEA says
Even in CVS, you take the cutest pictures!
Mediation and crystal healing, plus going to the gym or going for a walk are my absolute favorite self-care habits! Napping, too! ☺️
I’m soooo bad with vitamins 😂 When I have them, though, they are a vital part of my routine! Also, that program sounds fantastic.
Xo, Alissa @ PositiviTEA
Taralynn McNitt says
Haha! Well, thank you! 😉 Gotta give credit to my boyfriend for this one.
Love your self-care routine! xo

Thanks for sharing, Taralynn! I had no idea about the Tested to be Trusted program. I’m definitely going to go to my local CVS and pick up some vitamins. I’ve been wanting to try those Hair, Skin, and Nail Gummies!

1 – I’ve been doing the K-beauty face washing routine every day and it’s worked wonders. Also this is more of a weekly or twice weekly thing, but I love doing face masks! There’s nothing like doing a face mask before bed and waking up to soft skin in the morning. Another good form of self care is anything avoiding screens for an hour or two and just going outside to enjoy nature 😀
2 – Yes, supplements are a must! I take B12 (if you eat a vegan diet, B12 is absolutely essential for making new red and white blood cells!), hair/skin/nail supplements, adaptogens, and green powder from Amazing Grass. A friend of mine also introduced me to reishi mushroom elixir, which is supposed to be really good for relaxation.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks for all of those recs!!
Mandi Corrigan says
To take care of myself I take time every morning to do my face care routine, and I listen to a rotation of my favorite podcasts into work. Also, once a week I utilize my planner to the fullest. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it makes me feel balanced and creative!
Taralynn McNitt says
Love that! I need to be better about my planner.
Julia says
Great post! I also love taking vitamins and supplements. I take a multivitamin as well as Omega 3 and Biotin for my hair and nails.
Taralynn McNitt says
Those are my favorite.

My main form of self care is slowing down with my skin care routine before bed. I like to use a scrub or a mask and just enjoy the process without trying to rush.
Taralynn McNitt says
Love that!

I always love to start my day with a cup of coffee and sitting outside with my dog. Even if I have to wake up an extra hour to do it, it always puts me in the best mood and ready to start my day. I like to try and have a self care day on Sunday a couple of times a month: Face mask, coconut oil for my hair, manicure, and pedicure. It makes me feel less of a hot mess on Monday and ready to take on the week!
Lindsey says
I started using essential oils a couple months ago and it’s been a serious game changer. I use different ones depending on my day, but lavender and calm are my favorite.
Taralynn McNitt says

Sadly, vitamins are not apart of my routine. I have been wanting to add them to my life, but the options confuse me. I really liked this post since I worry about what really goes into my body. I plan to visit CVS and check out their vitamin selection. Thanks for the great blog post! I had no idea about their product testing program.
Taralynn McNitt says
XO! Definitely chat with your doctor about vitamins you may need before starting a routine, but it’s always good to know that you can count on CVS for having the best options!

Self-care takes a lot of intentionality as a working toddler mom, but having a strong support system (and allowing them to help out) has been a God-send. I love going to a local coffee shop to read by myself on Saturday mornings. During the week, getting regular workouts in helps me de-stress after a busy day. Thank you so much, Taralynn, for all of your awesome work here. I’ve followed your blog for years and look forward to reading about your journey each week.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Chelsea! Love seeing that you make time for your self-care even with such a busy lifestyle! xo xo
