Happy Friday, Everyone!
I hope you have some fun plans for the weekend. We are heading up to the mountains this weekend and I’m excited to share all of the fun with you in a vlog and blog next week! I wanted to get a quick post out before I close up shop this afternoon. A lot of you have been asking me about my office. I’m not 100% done yet, but it’s getting there! I want to get a few rustic shelves up, curtains, a t.v. mounted, and artwork on the empty wall. I thought by sharing what I’ve done so far, you guys could help me come up with some ideas for which curtains, shelves, and artwork! 😊 I’m also sharing some other before and after photos of my house at the bottom of the post. I feel like nothing is ever done!
I’ll also be giving away a $75 overstock gift card to one lucky reader! I hope you feel inspired to express yourself while decorating your house, and I’d love to help by throwing a giveaway!
When I first moved into the house, I basically just put all my office stuff in the bedroom and worked on the other projects first. Now that it’s done (almost) it feels really good to have a place to work. It allows me to focus, escape from the wild dogs, and close off. To be honest, Kyle has used this office more than I have, so I’m not sure who loves it more.
I was so excited when the new rug came in the mail yesterday! I have been looking for the perfect one to brighten up the room, but also add character.
My dad put so much work into this project! I don’t know what I’d do without him.
Paint color: Sophisticated Teal (inspired by the walls from Handmaids Tale)
I know this may seem crazy, but my dad actually installed the new laminate floors over the carpet. When I decide to sell the house, I want the new owners to be able to remove the floors if they want carpet without having to get a new carpet that matches the rest of the house installed. They turned out really nice! No one would have any idea that there is carpet underneath.
If you’re renting a place that is filled with carpet, this could be a good idea for your office!
This is what the office looked like when I bought the house. I took some of the listing photos.
When I shared the photo on Instagram yesterday, EVERYONE wanted to know about the desk! Again, my dad is INCREDIBLE at building. He did it for my birthday present last year.
If you’re looking for something similar that isn’t super expensive, overstock has great ones! Here is a similar one.
I love the white and bright offices, but I work better in a “cozy” environment. I wanted soft lamps, “feel good” colors and nothing that would cause headaches.
I was over the moon with this rug! It couldn’t have been any more perfect, and the price was unbeatable! I’m almost tempted to order another. You can find the rug here!
In the corner, I have a space heater that looks like a little fireplace. It’s perfect for the winter! I don’t have to turn the heat on and it heats up the whole office.
I’m thinking about getting shades that you pull down instead of curtains. Now, which color do I go with? Something fun or neutral?
The bookshelf in the corner is from Ikea! Can’t go wrong with a good Ikea piece. I almost painted it a different color but decided to keep it neutral.
I’m so in love with this lamp! I bought it at Hobby Lobby! Just make sure to use the 40% off discount coupons they always offer on their website! I love that the chicken wire gives the room a rustic and industrial feel. It helps tone down the girly colors.
I may do a photo wall or add rustic shelves to the right wall. What do you think? And the photos on each side? $5 find at the thrift store! They are vintage Better Homes & Garden paintings.

Questions for you!
- What should I do on the empty wall?
- What color pulldown shades?
- Which one of your rooms needs remodeling?
Catherine says
I love inspirational quotes on walls (or just one)! I think a bright white would be great for the shade to keep it fresh and bright!!
Now to pick a room to remodel.. well my boyfriend and I have been slowly doing small renovations in our house so I would say the family room (who paints walls brown anyway??) or the office (it’s sad and only has a desk in it).
Thanks for the opportunity! I always love your blog!!

My living room needs some major TLC to be more homey! It doesn’t flow right now like I’d like. And I think you should do neutral shades and rustic shelves! I love how the office turned out
Jackie says
Hi Taralynn,
You have completely inspired me. Me and my boyfriend just moved into our first apartment together so needless to say, we need EVERYTHING. Our living room basically flows right into our ‘dining room’ and the kitchen flows into that, its basically one big L shape. So we need decor and a console table to short of break the rooms up and make it feel cohesive all at the same time. I’m so excited to take the tips and your photos to inspire me to complete my space.
On the empty wall you can do a cool world map and mark off all the spots that you have visited, they even have cool scratch off ones!!
For the pulldown shades you could do a crisp white to keep it open and airy or stick with the woody/rustic theme to match the table and do a bambooish/tan one.
My living space needs remodeling big time!
Shannen Arnett says
I love your office! I think the “white office” is slightly overrated. My OCD would make me want to keep everything perfect all the time! Haha Dark colors can be a little scary but you pulled it all together beautifully! The idea of floating shelves would be nice. Maybe with some books and some little decor pieces. Curtains would make the room seem taller, but if you want to go with pull down shades, I’d say match them to one of the tans in the paintings beside the window.
My bedroom needs a total makeover! It’s been a work in progress for two years and needs some serious help!
Also, you have fantastic style and your house is beautiful!
Meghan says
I definitely also need a home office redecoration, I work from home 5 days a week so I am always looking for new ways to spruce up my work space! Thanks for the inspiration! Also side note – love your blog, i’ve been following it since I began my “health journey” in Summer of 2013!

The room that needs the most attention in our house is the master bedroom. We have been focusing everywhere else . My little guy has actually been picking at out headboard ruining the leather sleigh bed 🙁
Have a great day!

Hi!! I love everything you have done with your home! Answers to your questions:
1. Empty wall = mirror!
2. Pull down shades = look at Pottery Barn! They have the cutest simple Roman shades and I love them.
3. My living room needs help! I am so terrible at decorating and now everything is white and gray and I need color!
Amy says
I actually saw your Instagram post and was so excited to read your blog post, because I’m changing my guest room/junk room into my study/office for nursing school. I need all the inspiration!!!

I love what you have done in your home! My husband and I bought our first home a little over a year ago. The house is a ranch style home that was built in 1964. Due to maintenance issues we have not been able to really decorate our home. Our living/dining room space needs the most help. I want to make it a warm and inviting place for our friends and family.
Emily Martens says
The room that needs the most attention is our master bedroom. We have focused on all the other rooms in our house. My little guy has actually been picking away at our headboard on our sleigh bed 🙁 He has completely ruined the one side. Gotta love kids! 🙂

I would love to redecorate my bathroom.. it’s still brand new so everything is white. When you walk in there are two sinks so a long counter and a plain blank wall behind it.. I want to put something up there but what?? I’m not sure what to use so that it won’t be ruined by the shower steam! The area is a bit to small for stand alone shelves so I am at a loss!. On your empty wall I vote rustic shelves to match that amazing desk! Pull down shades… Dark? To match your ikea shelf? Love your page!
Brenda says
Love your decorating skills!! The cozy/homey feel is what I’m trying to do as well. We have a very old home and I’m renovating our guest bedroom very slowly. Just got a bed and mattress!
Laura Sharp says
Our whole house needs redecorated, just moving into a rental and I’m not sure which one needs it most, guessing the living room!

I absolutely love your style. That chicken wire lamp is a gem! My guest room needs so much love ❤️
Ashton says
I love book shelves so that’s what I would probably add to the empty wall but rustic open shelves sound super cute! Target has a ton of Joanna Gaines stuff that I am obsessed with, that would fit in your office decor, I would look at jewel tones for your shades since the teal is in that family. I am currently working on just our downstairs in general lol… we’re repainting this month and it’ll all be the same color with a one slightly darker wall since my downstairs is all open.
Kat says
I think adding rustic wood shelves to the empty wall would look great! Plus, additional storage never hurts in an office!
Amanda says
Love yo home and DIY projects. Thanks for sharing. Love mixing cheap thrift store, homemade and store bought pieces.m
Becca Schmid says
I don’t have a house but my apartment needs much love. I moved to Sacramento 5months ago with just a few boxes- mostly books and clothes and no furniture has been a great fresh start but I need to start making my new place feel like home. My living room/kitchen needs a table badly just so that we have a place other than the floor and couch to eat and do work. I know you can relate having two hungry but oh so adorable, eyes watching you eat- my dog and cat just stare and it usually ends up with me laughing or giving in. I love you home and all it’s unique and thoughtful touches- I miss having my dad nearby to help with projects like that. Keep your stories coming- you are such an inspiration!
Trish says
1. You should do rustic shelves. You could also do a gallery wall above the bookshelf. Or put the $5 artwork on the wall above the bookcase and do mini gallery walls next to the window.
2. Neutral pull down shades.
3. I’m in an apartment and the entire apartment needs to be remodeled (it’s a private rental and is a “guest” apartment in the back of my landlady’s apartment. But the room I would use the gift card would probably go towards the living room or kitchen. The bedroom is almost fully painted, has decent furniture and stuff on the walls but the living room and kitchen need to be painted and new furniture.
Catherine says
I love that real wall color! I would go with a neutral shade since the walls are so bright.
I need to makeover my bedroom right now! I want to update the wall art and other decor!
Erin says
I live in an apartment with 2 other girls and we desperately need more seating in our living room! And some Halloween/fall decor couldn’t hurt either 🙂

My fiancé and I are moving into our first home next month! We’ve been doing distance for 5 YEARS and we will finally be in *our* home and together! We could not be more excited and ready to start decorating EVERY room!
Kaylin says
Our master bedroom desperately needs a makeover because we have yet to even buy furniture (other than a bed frame) to decorate the room since moving in over a year ago! Crazy, right?
Kristin says
Definitely do shelves! I think it will add to the rustic/comfy feel and keep it simple. A photo wall may get too distracting.
Tisha says
I totally need my bedroom redecorated! Recently got married and want to incorporate him into the room now that we’ll be living together!

I love the color or the office also.

You have such great taste! It is crazy looking at the before & after pictures how much paint and furniture can change the feel of a room. The previous furniture made the rooms feel dated, while your paint & furniture makes everything so modern & cute! Have you ever seen the photo shelves from Pottery Barn? (https://www.potterybarn.com/products/holman-ledge/?catalogId=84&sku=645304&cm_ven=PLA&cm_cat=Google&cm_pla=Organization%20%3E%20All%20Wall%20Organization%20%3E%20Shelves%20%26%20Display%20Ledges) you could have the best of both worlds!
Leah says

I would make over my bedroom. It needs a face lift!
Allison H says
I love your home. I bought my first home on my own in December and have been doing lots of projects to it as well. I get some inspiration from you for sure! The room I haven’t done anything to is my office as well, actually going to Hobby Lobby after this to try and find some things to decorate lol. I love the idea of open shelving in your office, and would maybe going with a brown/gold window coverings for your office since you have those jewel tone vibes going on. But I’m sure whatever you do would look great! Good luck!
Dalia says
Hi Taralynn!
first of all, I think is beautiful what you did with your office!
and to keep the cozy feeling I think your pulldown shades should be like a caramel color, similar to the one you are using in the desk, it would have a nice contrast. On the empty wall I think you could put a cork board or a chalkboard and use it to organize the things you need to do, it can be nice decor and I’m pretty sure you can do it yourself. And on the other empty wall, you could probably put some shelves and maybe put like a plant or something to keep the place with nice natural oxygen ♥
Carol says
Gorgeous pics, love your style I’m looking to redecorate my dining area
Jillian Kuras says
Please come Decorate for me!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely love every single paint color you’ve picked. The teal is gorgeous!
1. Empty Wall: I love the idea of added the rustic shelves or may be a large mirror.
2. I love the pattern of the rug and that its so bold, so I figure neutral shades would let it continue to stand out.
3. My guest room definitely needs a face lift. Its a very small room to work with but it has basically turned into our storage room/catch all.
Kelsie says
Without a doubt, the bathroom! I just redecorated my bedroom and my accent wall is very similar to the teal of your office:) Your house looks super cozy and so warm and welcoming. <3
Tyler says
My bedroom definitely needs remodeling most!
Alexandra C. says
My living room definitely needs redecorating! I’m in an apartment so can’t really paint, but need to do something creative to cover up the curtains (that came with the apt) and get a new rug to pull the rest of the furniture together. Thanks for all of your inspiration!
Kristin says
Your house looks incredible!! You can clearly see all of your hard work! It’s turned out so, so nice! 🙂 My house needs everything redecorated (only sort of kidding) ;)~ but I would love to focus on my little boy’s rooms. They are such a work in progress and I would love to shift from baby to toddler decorated rooms to make them their own! <3 I don't have an Instagram account! 🙁
Leslie says
Where is your headboard from?
My bedroom needs an overhaul 🙂
Selma M says
Love love your office!! My living rooms is the one I’m really struggling with, it badly needs a redo but I just can’t decide in anyyyything, paint color, furniture, style, aaaah!! I love your couch though, where’s it from??
Samantha Bunker says
Well we are actually expecting our very first baby in November! So we are in desperate need of redoing what used to be our office and turning it into a nursery!! I was shocked at the prices for those rugs on overstock!! Now I know what I’m going to spend the rest of my day doing! haha.
For the empty wall I think you should do a collage of your pictures. You take such gorgeous photos and that would be an awesome way to highlight them and display them someplace other than your blog!
I think you should go with a neutral pulldown shade. I LOVE the wall color and I feel like that should be your focus (along with that rug!). Don’t let the curtains pull away from that awesome wall color.
Lauren Buda says
Oh my gosh, I LOVE YOUR PAINT & RUG! I’m a sucker for jewel tones!
1.What should I do on the empty wall?
I like rustic shelves! My husband and I made floating shelves for our living room that I love and it was so easy. The hardest part was choosing the color stain, lol.
2.What color pulldown shades?
I think neutral – I love the “greige” family – Is it gray? Is it beige? It goes with both!
3.Which one of your rooms needs remodeling?
I have about a 75% completed guest room that is in desperate need of finishing touches. It has just kind of collected things from other rooms since we moved in. We also have an office that is super boring and could use a similar makeover! We bought a desk from Overstock actually, but it needs additional storage, décor, etc.
Megan Reid says
I absolutely love the teal color you chose for the walls and your Edison bulb lamp 😍I have seen several rustic kitchens that color and am obsessed! Adding a thick wood pannel? Not sure if that is the right word over the top of the window and then hanging a cream or off white curtain would be nice and could tie the desk in well without having too much color clashing!
The industrial shelves would go well with the room so far! Maybe with some plants, I like having plants near study areas it aways helps me feel happier.
I need to redo my room! I have bits and pieces of a gallery wall coming along, and great textured white bedding but want to spruce everything up and make it a bit more minimal!
Brianna says
We just bought our house a year ago and we have done so much but every room could use some final touches. I would love to get a new rug for our living room because our doggo’s ruined the last one!!
I saw these awesome looking shades at Ikea that had magnet strips running through them the long way so you could just magnet them up or down (that probably makes no sense!).
Jill says
We have an office that was a little girl’s room before we moved in and we haven’t touched it. My husband studied for his CFA exam over 3 years in a bright teal room (including the ceiling) with a girly pendant chandelier.
Claire B. says
I love the color scheme of your office! The darker colors make it so cozy. And that rug is gorgeous and looks so soft.
We don’t have a house yet, we’re still in an apartment 🙂 But I would love to finish decorating our living room! It still looks like we just moved in, even though we’ve been here for several months. We need to hang some things on the walls and get another bookshelf so we can finally unpack all of our books. I’d also love to get a nice little lamp, some cute decor and some organizers for the desk–right now it is just a mess, haha.
Ashley says
My bedroom is in total need of redecorating. It’s so plain and I’m still not sure what to do to it.
Megan says
We’re in an apartment and I am trying to make it feel more homey. I just ordered that rug though because it fits in with my colors: lots of purples, blues and greens (earthy vibes). I have had this beautiful kitchen table with no rug underneath and this one was PERFECT!!!! So thank you. I really would love to do our bedroom.
Stephanie Gibbons says
I love your style! I am in desperate need of ideas. My whole house needs a face lift desperately. Thank you for sharing all your awesomeness. Your place looks professionally done.
Emily Braunberger says
Every room! My husband and I are in the process of buying our first house and I am SO excited to decorate it!!
Clare says
My living room desperately needs a redo! The walls are a pale yellow, and I think it could use a little more personality. I LOVE that green color in your office. It’s beautiful!
Arielle says
Hi Tara Lynn!
1. You do NOT want my opinion here, ha! Every single wall of my living room is bare. Decorating is just so stressful!
2. I think you should go with a neutral color shade.
3. We moved into our apartment exactly one year ago, but it is still pretty bare! Our living room needs the most work. It is the hub of the apartment but the only room we have not been able to figure out any decor for!
Alaina says
Loving the changes you’ve made in your home, which is truly beautiful!
I desperately would like to redecorate our living room. We have built in bookshelves that we strive to decorate according to season, yet four sets of decor all while trying to keep it classy can get quite expensive! This gift card would help so much!
I would suggest a lighter neutral curtain or shade for the office. I think it would bring some brightness to the room and accentuate the natural light, which I feel helps with creativity while working! Also, it will allow all the adorable accents of the room you mentioned in your post to show off without being overshadowed by window treatments.
Enjoy your trip!
Sandra Schroeder says
My husband built me the exact same desk! I think I got the plans from a sister team shantytochic. Love the wall color and rug!! I am currently looking for the perfect rug for my very natural living room. I have been working on my daughter’s room for so long that by the time I finish it I she might be graduating from High School. I don’t have that decorators touch but I try! I think you should put some bookcases on that wall. Every office needs bookcases for extra storage of office supplies and work.
Taylor Allen says
Just moved into a new house. My room needs a makeover!
Emily says
These look amazing!! Great job on redecorating! I’m in need of my living room to be redecorated! 😊
Bri Runde says
Where do I start, haha?! I would begin in our kitchen though.
Courtney Haas says
My downstairs bathroom NEEDS to be redone. The house was built in the 60s and it still has all the original tile, tub, cabinetry, sink, EVERYTHING. It’s so gross lol
Lindsey says
My foyer! Right now it is a catch all space, but my plan is to turn it into a reading nook and office! It has a leaded glass window (house was built in 1911) and is right next to the gorgeous wooden steps. It has SO much potential, it’s next on my list.
Casey says
Absolutely beautiful room! Wow! I love everything about it. That rug and the wall color are stunning, you did a great job! Rustic shelves would be great. For the pulldown shades go fun over neutral, you could chose a fun color like gold or white with gold. My bedroom needs remodeling.
Hannah R says
I think a rustic shelf that matches your desk (that you could put a candle on and change out throughout the seasons! And add lights/garland/pumpkins/whatever throughout as well) with a complimenting sized piece of art, or three (one larger in the middle, with a smaller on each side) would look really nice and fill in the wall so well AND be useful! 😀
Gallery walls are also amazing because of how easy it is to change out your photos as you gather new ones with friends and family or travels, if you choose to fill them up with pictures that are more like landscapes/cityscapes/scenery! 😀
I would find your favorite neutral color in the rug and get pulldown shades to match that!
Our KITCHEN really needs a remodel… but our basement is technically unfinished, so I’d say that’s in pretty desperate need as well haha!
Rachel says
1) Rustic shelves would be beautiful!
2) Wood? Maybe a similar color to the floor
3) My whole house! We bought it 2 years ago and I just have no clue what I want to do anywhere!
Ashley Stevens says
I love your design style! Is it easy for you to come up with these designs on your own? Or do you pull from inspiration elsewhere? I’d love to know your secrets!
Ashley Stevens says
I’d love to redecorate my new living room! 🙂 My husband and I just moved overseas and I’d like to make things cozier!
Valeria Pena says
Good job! Everything looks so nice! Great taste!
1.) What should I do on the empty wall? Rustic shelves! 🙂
2.) What color pulldown shades? I’m thinking a soft grey .
3.) Which one of your rooms needs remodeling? My bedroom is in desperate need of remodeling 😩😩 ever since we had our children we kind of neglect it 🙄😫😔😔 it would be so awesome to make it our own again *sigh*

Becky says
You have done an amazing job on your house. I need to redo 2 bathrooms that seem overwhelming!!!
Courtney says
I absolutely love the renovated office! The colors are so cozy and inviting. I think it would be cute to put up the rustic shelves and maybe get some natural shades for the windows.
I am actually in the process of decorating mine and my fiancé’s house. We are currently working on the living room and it is in serious need of revamping. We’ve already painted the walls and I added a really pretty rug, but it needs new furniture, decor and wall art!
Thanks for sharing your room renovations!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Courtney!!
Orsi says
Hi Tara, I love all your posts but my favorites are always the before and after home projects. I think I will need to go to therapy one day to tone down my HGTV addiction. You did such a great job with your office.
1. I think you could use a huge wall sized black and white picture of Charlotte (or another city) or one of my favorite finds ever is a scratchy world map. You could order a big sized one and scratch the countries/states that you have been to.
2. Natural color shades
3. When we moved across country last year we rented an apartment online (risky move) because we didn’t have time to fly over before the move. The place we moved into was built in 1734. I think nobody cleaned or painted walls around here since then. So I have been refurbishing the place one room at a time. (after the initial heart-attack of seeing the place, I made peace with it). Right now I am working on the living room and will need some shelves and curtains for each window.
Angela Hendricks says
My living room really needs to be redecorated. Its kinda blah and needs a splashof color and some decor!
Susie @ Mile High Dreamers says
It’s CRAZY to see all of these before and after photos side by side! You have done so much with your house. I can’t believe what a difference some of those small changes made.
Also, your dad should seriously open a shop. His work is incredible!
I think you should do a big canvas print of you and Kyle and your pups on that wall 🙂 .
Grey shades!
Haha I think our whole house could use remodeling but we rent so there’s only so much we can do. I can’t wait until we have our own space to make truly our own!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Susie!!
Yes, my dad is insanely talented with that stuff and I agree he should open his own shop!!
Your house will be so cute!!
Ashlee says
What should I do on the empty wall? — I like your idea of adding rustic shelves. Then you can easily set photos or framed art on them too!
What color pulldown shades? – bring out a color from the rug? Maybe the fuchsia. It would be really fun.
Which one of your rooms needs remodeling? – I think my office does too actually! Right now it’s an office/ guest bedroom, but I really love that rug you bought and it might be my inspo for the new look. 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Ashlee! I think the rug is so fun and I love how colorful it turned out to be!
Emily Wees says
Wow all your rooms look AMAZING! You did such a good job redecorating everything!
Honestly my whole house could use some redecorating but I think I would to redecorate my office space first since it’s so dull, and I think with a new office I’d be a lot more inspired to sit down and work!
On the empty wall I would do a photo collage of your best pictures/favorite memories or I would do an adorable chalk board wall design somewhere in the middle and you could write down ideas you get or your do to list for the week and just use as a creative space! For new blog ideas or plans! 🙂
I’m not sure about the pull down shades but I think something bright and fun would be cute!
I’d remodel my office first and then start working on other rooms in the house!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks so much, Emily!
I do the same and go all over the place remodeling!
Juliet says
Our bedroom! Actually we really need rugs everywhere LOL, but our bedroom needs some work. Currently only have one lamp, IKEA furniture, borrowed bed, and my daughter’s crib all crammed in there.
Cindy A. says
We are in the process of a DIY kitchen remodel. Once that project is finished we hope to tackle the bathroom. The kitchen and bathroom are definitely the rooms that needed the most attention.
Susan Christy says
I love my little MCM Ranch and would like it more if my bedroom was remodeled.
Nicole Pyles says
I have a bedroom that needs some remodel love! This would be so nice to win!
Blair says
I love the idea of a collage wall for the empty one. I’ve been wanting to do one in my house with all black and white photos of family and friends. I find that incredible cozy and comforting to have the ones you love around you!
As for the shades I’d go with neutral colors. I like neutral everything that more of a constant in a room then add pops of colors. That way when you want to change up the decor or scheme it doesn’t kill your budget.
There are so many rooms in my house I’d love to redo but tops are my kitchen and my office. I work from home so the cozier the the office the better seeing how I spend 40 hours a week in there working.
Love what you have done so far!
Shannon says
I absolutely love your style!! All of the before & afters are amazing!
Katie says
We bought a house in February, so we are slowly working our way through redoing each room! Right now, I would LOVE to redo our bathroom. It is so outdate and just not “us.” Love this post!
Sarah says
I agree with you Taralynn! I adore all the bright white offices I see on Pinterest and Instagram but I think I’d work better in a softer warmer home office also. Eventually when I start working from home that’ll be the theme I go with for sure.
The way I’d spend the gift card to overstock if I win is I’d save it for my future home office and buy myself a nice big desk. I need a lot of space when I work because of all the drinks I usually have all at once (coffee, water, sweet tea) and I love to have seasonal decor in my sight to help inspire me lol plus whatever notebooks I have and my planner.
Love what you’ve done with your place! You’ve really made it your own.
Ashley Fox says
Thank you so much for sharing your home decor projects, they all look amazing! I am currently 7 months pregnant, moving into a new two bedroom apartment, and would love to be able to decorate my sons nursery! I love the colors you have chosen, they have inspired me.

My living room in my apartment desperately needs some help. It’s just hard when I know I’ll be moving somewhere else next year. I don’t want to go too crazy with the decorating since I know I’ll have to change it again and don’t know that what I buy will fit the next place!
– For sure shelves on the empty wall! Just don’t hit another water pipe 😉
– neutral pull down shades! I think it’ll make the windows POP.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA no water pipes!!

WOW! Your office looks AMAZING! I thought some kind of vintage map would be a cool decor piece since you like to travel. I think maybe light brown curtains would be neutral and calming. I just started remodeling my room, the last time i did was middle school and i’m in college now! My goal is to create a neutral space like your office so I can get school work done and preschool work done more efficiently. Also super excited to read your mountain blog!

I absolutely love what you have done with the house it looks so cozy I especially love that desk lamp and the lantern on the entry table and of course the desk your dad made ( he does beautiful work) .
1. I would do the rustic shelves .
by the way the coffee painting you had in the before pictures has beautiful colors in it that would great on the wall color.
2. I think you should do wooden blinds that go with your floor
3. we just remodeled our basement I would love to have the money to finish it (still somethings I need to work on).

Rug is amazing and love overstock!

Hi Taralynn! I love the office 😍 and really love that paint color! I would go with a photo wall because I think shelves coming off the wall would take up too much space. I think it’s nice to have a spacious room for an office! I would go with beige or off-white for the curtains to keep it neutral.
I recently moved to Illinois for grad school and got my first own apartment! I’ve always had roommates so I’m excited to make it mine. I spent much of the last year traveling and am now in school.. so I don’t have any money to actually furnish the place! (No regrets on the traveling tho :P) I’ve gotten a couple pieces used but would LOVE the overstock gift card to help the living room along and get a cool chair or coffee table. Thanks for the chance to enter!

You’ve done such a great job redecorating, love your style! I definitely think a neutral color for the shades and shelving on the walls, maybe some plants on the shelves for the health benefits plants bring!? Can’t go wrong with that! Hope you enjoyed the getaway! We are always hopeful Kyle will pop the big question at one of these outings….. ❤️

I would love to hear more about how your dad placed the flooring over your carpet! This is such a great idea and a lot cheaper. Did you use wood laminate? Your office looks incredible and I am in love with that rug!

The office!

We have this loft space that is just big enough to be useful as a sitting room, or open office(ish) …. still not sure what to do with it.. Love your style! Thanks!

1. I’d hang a wall calendar of sorts on that wall space.
2. I’d go for neutral color Roman shades or curtains!
3. My Living Room for sure needs the most redecorating. I still need cushions, a rug and wall decor.
4. Tagged a friend @alinapicazo
Great desk.

I’d love to see a framed whiteboard on the wall for events, notes, schedule, etc. Regarding shades, I’d go with a light gray and my own home office needs a bit of a redo! IG: @brixstaff

IG: seanrconn Love the pop of color with both the wall and the area rug. Gorgeous! 1. I’d love to see staggered round mirrors on the blank wall space. 2. Neutral striped shades 3. My master bedroom needs redecorating.

My bedroom needs a makeover desperately! I love your office. The desk and rug are fabulous. I love the wall color. I would probably stick to White pull down shades. I would blow up some black and white candid photos for the empty wall.

I need to remodel my study, now that I’m studying for my boards after finishing grad school, I need a place I can really focus since this is the hard part!
Jenna says
Okay, so I would have to say my whole house, but first I think I would choose the master bedroom. My house was built in the 60’s and we rent so everything has stayed the same. Our guest bath is bigger than our master bath and has a pink/brown tile with dark drown cabinets… and our master bath is the size of a small pantry and it has light green tile, toilet, dark brown cabinets. The whole house needs a makeover. Your house is amazing and some serious goals!!
I would add some shelves with some personal items on the empty wall.
For the pull down shades, I’d go with a neutral color. You don’t want too much going on in the room.

Love this!!! Your house looks amazing. You’re doing such a good job with redecorating!! It looks so nice and cozy.<3 The office looks so sooo awesome too! If I were to win the giveaway I would either redecorate my main bathroom or my office as well! (Both are quite sad right now! lol )
What should I do on the empty wall? I would def do a fun gallery wall with fun pictures of you, your boyfriend, the pups, and some cute inspiring quotes.
What color pulldown shades? I'm thnking white! 🙂
Which one of your rooms needs remodeling? Main Bathroom or home office!! 🙂

Your office and house looks amazing! I just got married & finally cleared out our “wedding storage” room & it will now become my office. As a teacher, I need my own space. Our kitchen table wasn’t cutting it anymore. I got an ikea shelf so far, I’m trying to work on my office and make it me.

I just moved into my first apartment, so nothing needs redecorated, but everything needs decorated for the first time! That’s so cool that your dad made that desk! My dad can’t build but he’s a master at refinishing furniturebao I’ve got a ton that looks new but I got at grift store prices!
