Good Afternoon!
I finally figured out the whole video situation. I spent way too many hours trying to figure out why there was no storage left on my computer but turns out the rendered files were taking up pretty much all of the space. After clearing those out, the videos uploaded perfectly.
I wanted to do something fun this week and change my recap post up a bit. This week was perfect for that because I had no plans, it was going to be a low-key week, and I could spend some time figuring out how to “vlog.” It’s funny because as you watch each video, they start awful, and then get a little better. I think I’m getting the hang of this. I’m hoping to have it all figured out in no time! All pointers are welcome. The first couple of days are pretty bad to watch, but I finally learned how to mess with the volume and sound effects. The next time I vlog, I promise it’ll be better!
Each day of last week was Vlogged, and I added some extra photos with links and recipes as well. I hope you enjoy my low-key week! It’s so important to give yourself a calm week now and then. Overfilling your week with events (even if they are fun) and workouts and drain you. This was my “off” week. I’ll have to video blog a normal week next time.

How do you make your tofu and shishito peppers? I’m trying to master the texture on the tofu.
Taralynn McNitt says
I just add a little cooking spray or olive oil with water to a frying pan/cast iron and let them cook on medium-low for fifteen minutes!
Rachiel says
You are adorable!
Taralynn McNitt says
haha! well thank you 😀
Cara says
Will you and Kyle do a q&a vid?
Taralynn McNitt says
That could be fun!
Megan says
Hi Taralynn! I really enjoyed the vlogging. I’m curious, what kind of camera were you using? I recently started blogging, and I got a go pro to try to do a little vlogging with. My husband and I are headed to Mexico in a couple weeks and I plan to vlog about our trip. I haven’t played with it much yet, but I’ll definitely check back in and let you know how I like it! I’m just beginning a health and fitness journey, and have recently started the smoothies. I’ve been adding turmeric but I’ll look in to adding more of the things you suggest! Also, the area you live in looks dreamy! Our goal is to get to the Carolinas permanently in the next three years.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Megan!
I just used my cell phone the whole time! Just convenient.
You guys will have so much fun in Mexico! !
We LOVE the Carolinas!:D
April Johnson says
Love love love the vlog idea! DEFINITELY do more of them!
All I would say as far as (constructive) criticism goes would be to split off recipes, products, recaps, etc. into separate videos and then do separate posts for those videos. I say that because when you make multiple posts on the blog in one day, they’re usually categorized into separate posts. Such as recap post, recipe post, workouts, product reviews, giveaways, etc. I think it makes sense to split those types of videos off into another post, as well. I don’t know if any of this makes sense, but I guess what I’m ultimately suggesting is a video post organization that is similar to your written post organization. Also, I don’t know about other readers, but some days I’m more interested in your recipes on one day and recaps on another day (or other combinations, obviously). All the other technical stuff (volume, etc.) you mentioned at the beginning will (as you said) fix itself with practice. But still seemed really great as is!!
Love all of your posts, any shape or form!
And I say all of this with love 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, April! I will totally do them for special occasions.
Love the tips!!! I’ll be keeping them all in mind. And you’re right. ORGANIZATION! Is key.
Jessica says
Your dog totally cracks me up eating laying down!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hahahaha they won’t eat any other way!
Jessica says
You look seventeen! What is your secret?
Taralynn McNitt says
Well thank you!
I make sure to wash my face Every day, moisturize before bed and when I wake up, SUNSCREEN ALWAYS!!! Lots of water & never wear makeup when you don’t have to!
I might do a video on my skin routine 🙂
Carl says
I miss the old recaps. This was hard to get through.
Taralynn McNitt says
Haha thanks, Carl. I will be doing my old recaps, this was just something to play around with. Thanks for your honest opinion!

Linda @ the Fitty says
I love seeing you in action! Do you think you can make weekly or at least bi-weekly vlogs?
Taralynn McNitt says
Ha! Thanks, Linda!
I think I’ll start vlogging my trips and special moments for sure! Not sure I want to vlog my recaps! I missed my photos and writing so much.
Jennifer says
THIS WAS AWESOME! Unfortunately I’m not too tech-saavy or know much about apps/software/etc., however you did such a great job anyway! 🙂
I tried an acai bowl for the first time the other day — it was pretty good! I want to try that Goji powder/berries too.
I love the whole recap thing via video — when your house is done you could do your home tour that way too!
Question.. do you have amazon prime? If so, what do you think about it? I’m so on the fence, because I never used to use Amazon, but I’ve used it a few times lately and have been considering it. And the amazon prime video too.. can’t decide if it’s worth it!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hahaha thanks, girl!!!
mmmmmm love acai bowls!!!!
I think a home tour will be amazing! I can’t wait to finish it all!
YES YES YES! I order almost everything off amazon prime! even toilet paper. free shipping adds up! It’s only $90 a year and it’s 10000000000000 worth it.
Em says
Is it weird that I am obsessed with your voice? It’s so cute! Have you ever thought about doing voice work for commercials or movies?
Taralynn McNitt says
lol I’m not sure if this comment is a joke or for real, haha but thank you!! Would be fun! 😉 haha
Maria says
Dear Taralynn,
It’s the first time I’m commenting in your blog but now just couldn’t resist!
What a great initiative with vlogging! Love it! Also very interesting to hear your voice (not the fan of snapchat ;)))
Cheers from Ukraine:)

Hi Taralynn, I loved your vlogs!!! Watched them all haha. I’d love if you did more but I can imagine how much time goes into making them. It looks like you live in such a nice neighborhood. Hope you’re having a good week!
Elizabeth
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Elizabeth!

Your Saturday vlog made my heart melt. My dogs love cows too!
Kyle looks so cute and shy! What does he do for work? Is he a personal trainer?
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Chasmine! (such a pretty & unique name)
My dogs are so so so obsessed with cows! & fortunately, I live about six miles from the farm roads filled with cows.
Kyle is adorable 🙂 I just love him so much lol He isn’t a personal trainer, but he certainly could be! He’s so great with fitness. I like to keep Kyle’s life pretty private 🙂 I don’t mind sharing what we do on the blog and photos of us together, but I want his life to stay as private as it can! xo Hope you understand! xo
Amanda says
With your mention of the mascara – Are you transitioning to organic beauty products? If so I’d love to hear more about your favorites.
Taralynn McNitt says
Well, I don’t wear make-up often. If I’m out, I’ll just throw on lip gloss and some mascara. But, I do use IT COSMETICS when I go all out. It’s been one of the best makeups I have ever worn. It doesn’t break out my skin and it has so many wonderful benefits. I’m an IT girl all the way 😉
Lindsay says
So, this is really random, but I just watched Beauty and the Beast last night and then watched your vlog this morning (loved them btw!) and you look exactly like Emma Watson! I’m sure you get that all of the time! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hahahahaha probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said and I WISH!!! She’s 1000000000% more put together 😉 I’m lucky if I brush my hair once a month. Alos, I need to watch the new B&TB!
Savannah says
I recommend the adobe premier software and there’s an app for your phone! My boyfriend uses it for work and creates the most amazing videos even from his phone. It is super easy to use, but will be high quality work!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you!!
Emily says
I might be going against the grain, but I missed your regular blog post! I personally don’t have time – or the attention span! Ha! – to sit and watch all the vlogs. They are fun, don’t get me wrong! But I hope you don’t deviate too much from your blog posts. I enjoy sitting and reading them with my coffee when I have a couple minutes!
Taralynn McNitt says
Haha, that’s totally OK! I understand what you mean and I 1000000% missed all the photos and writing everything in order! I loved video, but maybe for special events!:)
Expect the usual next week! 😉
Ashton Jury says
I agree with some of the above comments, I missed your writing. However I did love the vlogs, it was something fun to check out! I think it would be great to do some vlogs of your recipes, especially with fall here now. I know I’m a fan of those crust-less pumpkin pies or maybe a soup recipe. I do that a lot on my instagram stories with my food account. For recording while traveling I recommend a GOPro, my husband as like 5 of them he also uses his cannon 500? (I think that’s what it is, but don’t quote me I just know it’s cannon. ) You can look at some of his pic I love the way the gorpro takes photos, his instagram is @mdjury Also lastly my favorite superfoods are Salmon, pumpkin and blueberries!! Have a great rest of the week!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Ashton!
I am going to check his page out!! thanks so much.
Those are all great Superfoods!!
Amy says
You should do cooking videos!
Taralynn McNitt says
Working on one today:D

Can’t wait to watch your Vlogs!! I do have a random question for you though, as you have experienced it! Wondering if you have any advice on how to meet people in new places where you don’t know anyone? When you were moving around often (been following you for years), you always seemed to make friends- seems like a dumb questions because the obvious answer is getting involved with things, go out, etc. but it still isn’t easy!
I am so excited to try something new and pick up and move out of state, although it is a bit frightening! I know you love where you ended up, and so far people I’ve talked to recommend giving somewhere new a try if you can.
Thanks so much!!
Amber
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Amber!
Thank you 🙂
I think it really just comes down to forcing yourself to get out there. It’s crazy because when I moved down to Charlotte, I didn’t know anyone and now I have a lot of friends here. Over time, you meet a person who introduces you to someone and so on and so so on. They all start to connect. You can make friends at the gym, meetup groups, through your job, and i’m telling you! Once you meet one person, you’ll be set. 😀
Chelsea says
Hi Tara,
I am a reader of yours all the way from Perth, Western Australia and I adore your blogs, reading all of them since the very beginning. But I just wanted to say that I adored the Vlogs!!! After all these years of reading, being able to hear your voice and seeing Grumples, Leo and Kyle, and your interactions feels so personal (in a non creepy way), just like we are friends catching up. But of course, whatever mode you prefer is awesome!
Chelsea 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Chelsea!
Thank you so much 🙂 & it’s so cool you’re from Australia!
I will totally do more videos!

Absolutely love the vlogs! And Your dogs are even cuter in the videos!. My favourite super food would be summer berries, in summer I pick them fresh from my garden to make smoothies. Cannon do a really good small and compact camera that can video, but I can not remember the model sorry. Have a fantastic weekend!!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hahaha thanks, Harriet!!
Jocelyn says
LOVED the videos Taralynn! It was fun to watch your daily routine each day. Very relaxing to watch them with a cup of coffee. I hope you do more like this 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Awwwww thanks jocelyn!!!!
Dana says
The videoes were fun. I like both them and the traditional recap posts.
Chomperz are the best! I’m seriously hooked on them.
One thing that has really helped my cramps (and headaches, and anxiety) is a magnesium supplement. I was amazed at the difference. Also, soy can help with it too.
Right now, my favorite superfood is turmeric. I love golden milk; warm almond milk with turmeric, ginger, cloves, honey. So good at bedtime!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Dana!
So crazy how good they are…and dipped in hummus? heaven.
Yup! Magnesium really does help! Golden milk is really good.
Katherine Sanford says
Loved this! It took a little while to get through them all but it was fun seeing your day to day routine on video! My black lab Stella is also a spot stealer on the couch and insists on having her head on a pillow in the bed I think she thinks she’s human 😉 Will you do a quick post of how you cook the shoshito peppers? I’ve never had them but they look so good!
Taralynn McNitt says
Yup!! I’ll do a video !:D)
Susie @ Mile High Dreamers says
Ahhhhh I LOVE Erin Condrin planners!! Their teacher one is to die for. It’s literally my favorite thing ever. Organizing makes me happy 🙂
And Ben is the master video editor because of his channel, I’m in awe of his skills because I could never do it! But yours look good! He uses a mix of iMovie and Final Cut, but final cut is really fancy and honestly I think iMovie does the job!
I love fitness videos!
Get it girl!
Taralynn McNitt says
They are the best!!!
Thats so great to hear! I use both as well! xo xo
Joy says
The videos were great! Keep them coming!
Taralynn McNitt says

hi Taralynn! Do you prefer the Ripple half & half or the So Delicious coconut milk creamer? I have a hard time finding a good dairy free creamer.. plain almond milk in coffee is just gross and I hate black coffee lol. thanks 🙂
Kate says
You should definately keep doing the vlogs! Eventually you will get better at them and such but it was great! I like them better than the blog post 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks Kate!!

So my husband actually bought the coffee grinder you suggested, but he is having trouble with the grounds sticking to the side due to static. Did you have this problem? If so, did you find a solution? Thanks!
Taralynn McNitt says
That is so strange! Mine doesn’t do that. But I washed all the parts out before using it! Maybe try that?
