I’m officially in heaven.
I can’t wait to go to bed at night. I make sure to wake up extra early so I can have coffee in bed while checking emails. I’m sure I’ll get over this bed obsessed phase, but I’ve never slept on something so comfortable. I had the opportunity to try out a new Leesa mattress! My dad just built me a fabulous bed for my room, so it was the perfect timing.
The last time I bought a mattress it was so stressful. We went to about three different stores and I just sat on tons of beds until I found the one I wanted. After I found my mattress, I had to go to their warehouse about an hour away and pick up the mattress, take it home, and carry it up a flight of stairs into my apartment. I love that the Leesa company is exclusively available online and it takes away all the stress of going out and buying a new mattress, plus the shipping is always free. They also ship to Canada!
I’ve never seen a box with simpler directions. That’s the kind of stuff I like!
The Leesa comes compressed in a box the size of a mini-fridge and it takes about five minutes to set the mattress up. All you have to do is take it out of the box, unwrap it, and let it expand.
The mattress takes about an hour or so to fully expand, but its one of the most comfortable mattresses I’ve ever laid on!
After this photo, I found out that the stripes go to the end of the bed, but regardless…still comfortable as ever!
Once you lay on the bed, you just sink right in. The mattresses come in all sizes and is crafted with three unique foam layers. Two inches consist of memory foam and the other two inches consist of latex-like foam called Avena, which is made to keep you cool…kind of like the other side of the pillow 😉
Leesa Mattresses start at $525 and I love that they gives back. For every ten mattresses sold, they donate one to a shelter. Leesa also gives you 100 nights to try your mattress, risk-free!
Grumples enjoyed the new Leesa mattress too!
My first sleep on the new Leesa mattress was amazing. I slept so well and the foam mattress definitely made a difference! I don’t think I could ever go back to the spring filled mattresses.
Leesa has provided a discount code for my readers! Use promo code TARALYNN75 at checkout and get $75 off your order!

How important is sleep to you?
Do you love your current mattress?

Looks so comfy! Do they also have firmer options? I think the really soft foamy mattress would hurt my back after a while.
So cool that it expands like that!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Heather!
I believe (i could be wrong and will check up on this) all the mattress are made of the same material. BUT, it’s still firm. It’s not extremely foamy 🙂
Heather @ Polyglot Jot says
it really is such a great idea!
Heather Larkin says
Taralynn,
Being that it has been a few months now. How do you feel about the Leesa bed? Are you still very happy with it? Are there any cons? Do you have the middle bed ditch issue yet? Any other suggestions that you didn’t know then, but now know? We are looking at buying one, but still a little unsure about the support of a mattress like this.
Thanks!

Hi!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Leesa! It’s the softest bed I’ve ever owned and whenever I’m at a hotel or sleep somewhere else, I miss my bed! I’ve had zero issues with it!
Jess says
Please please please tell us how you made this bed! Can you send a link of the building plans?
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Jess!
My dad and I are going to do a separate post for the bed!:) It was very easy!
😀
Hillary Danielle says
I can’t wait for that post! I showed it to my boyfriend and he’s all for us building ours now!
Taralynn McNitt says
We built and stained it in under 3 hours!
Jess says
I seriously can’t wait! 3 hours seems very quick…but y’all are professionals!! haha! When can we expect this post?
Catalina says
Yes yes yes!!!! 100% agree about the bed frame tutorial. I’m about to move and am ready to upgrade my bed frame and I’m OBSESSED with yours! Do you know how much the raw materials were (stain, wood, etc.)?
Jessica says
When can we expect these plans to be posted? I’m so excited!
Caitlin Stonge says
Yay! I was going to ask if you would post about how to make the bed, it is EXACTLY what I have been wanting for our room! Thank you!! I am also excited to tell my husband about the mattresses, we have been in the market for a new one, but have such different preferences we haven’t purchased anything yet. Thank you for sharing!
aleah says
Super cute bed! Have you noticed any difference in your new mattress vs. a traditional w/ a box under it? I’ve never had a bed where I don’t have the box spring under the mattress! Sleep is SUPER important to me because I’m in medical school I need to consolidate all that knowledge 😉 I always try to get between 7-8 hours, sometimes more on the weekend! Can’t wait to see the plans for the bed! I do like my current mattress, but it was pretty pricey (from Pure Sleep) and I’m sure I overpaid!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks Aleah!
I don’t notice a huge difference between having a box underneath and not, only a difference in the mattress. Overpaying is always worth it because sleep is SO important! You especially need that sleep!
Hillary Danielle says
That mattress looks like heaven! We are in the process of remodeling our master bedroom, so as soon as that’s done we will be looking for a King size bed, and that may just be it, especially since my boyfriend has a love of foam mattresses or a foam layer on top of the mattress.
1. Usually I average around 7-8 hours of sleep per night, but I know for me to function properly and not feel tired all day I need around 10.
2. Sleep is super important to me. I love to sleep. Weekends it’s sometimes a hassle because my boyfriend and our dog like to be up and “Go, go go!” by 7:30am, and I don’t wanna see the light of day until at least 9:30.
3. As of current I don’t love my mattress, not only is it too small for my liking (we share a full size bed), but it’s not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it’s almost like pulling teeth to get my boyfriend to part with it. That’s why I told him come time for us to get our bed for our master bedroom, we are buying a new one!
Taralynn McNitt says
It really is!:) My parents are already getting their own. My dad was obsessed with it. Plus, you can’t feel the person next to you move as much on a mattress like this.
1. That is a great amount of sleep!
2. lol i’m all go go go on the weekends, but I love my sleep too!
3. Sleep is definitely way too important for that! It’s always worth the investment.

Ahhh I want the bed plans post please!! My boyfriend and I recently moved in together and just prior he had “upgraded” his bed to a queen. The frame is “meh”… I wouldn’t have picked it but it’s not awful. He had such a stressful mattress shopping experience, too, and I’ve actually gone and slept in our guest room a few times where his old double bed is because that mattress is more comfortable. I would love to upgrade the frame (at least) to something we both like!
I LOOOVEEE sleep and try to get about 7 hours a night. I get in bed around 9 (which is soooo early) but get up at 5 and have a full, constantly-going day. Even on weekends, I don’t sleep in much past 8. My workouts and healthy eating and productivity at work all struggle when I don’t sleep enough.
Taralynn McNitt says
For sure!
Congrats on the move 🙂 Having a comfy bed is so important becuase we need sleep and spend so much time in it! My workout and eating habits definitely suffer when I’m tired!
Jennifer says
Since I’m like a grandma, I typically go to bed around 815/830 and get up at either 5 or 6 depending on if I workout in the morning or not! So typically 8-9 hours! Now that college is done, I find that sleep it important haha
Sleep is soooo important! Not just for my body, but for everyone around me. (I get cranky if I’m too tired) haha
I’m actually surprised that I do love it! I grew up with my mom’s old mattress from when she was young (a spring mattress) and when I moved out last fall after college, I needed my own bed. I actually got the mattress and the frame at IKEA! It’s actually one of their more expensive mattresses and is a spring mattress.. but I love it! I also got one of their couches and I love that too. Ikea for the win!!
p.s. I also have that same duvet and it looks SO FABULOUS with your new bed! Love love love!!
Taralynn McNitt says
I’m also like a grandma. I was in bed at 8:30 last night…
I love ikea stuff!!! 🙂
Ashley Breanna says
How many hours of sleep do you get a night? I aim for 7… I know it’s recommended to get 8, but I use that hour to cuddle or read or watch a good show.
How important is sleep to you? I love sleep. I function terribly without it. My sister is in her “party-phase” and it’s normal for her to only sleep about 2 hours a night, and nap the next day. I cringe at the thought!
Do you love your current mattress? I sleep well on my mattress right now, but it is a spring mattress & it is due time for a new one. We found one at Menards that we like, and it’s all foam. I may look into this one, but it’s hard to commit to a mattress you can’t lay on first.
Great post! Your shorts & summer clothes make me jealous. It’s only 45 degrees in Minnesota, but we’re getting warmer!
Taralynn McNitt says
I couldn’t NEVER sleep only 2 hours a night. I’d die lol They actually have a trial for the mattress and if you don’t like it, you can send it back.
Hopefully it gets warmer for you soon!
Karen K says
I love how you decorate your bed! Looks so comfy and cozy! I tend to try to get 8-9 hours of sleep. If I don’t sleep…I get cranky and it’s not pleasant. So sleep is incredibly important. My husband surprise me with a king size bed and I am in love with it! I spend more time in the bedroom just lounging when I’m not sleeping. 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you Karen!
That was so nice of him and I LOVE the king bed:) I like to jump into bed early and just relax and watch movies!
Tara says
I love your bed!! I am not in love with my mattress, and it’s pretty new. I hate just going in and sitting on them. They always feel different when you get them home. Yours looks so comfy! Sleep is so important but I don’t sleep well ( maybe it’s the mattress) so I usually get around 5 hours a night. I’m going to look this mattress up. It would be worth it to see if it helps me sleep better!!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you Tara!
This mattress is definitely a game changer. I got 10 hours of sleep last night…………whoops!
Heather says
Where is your comforter/ duvet cover from?!
Taralynn McNitt says
Ikea! 😉
Michelle R says
I love all of your bedding and the new bed frame. Do you remember where you got all of your bedding and pillows from?

This sounds like a great mattress! I will defiantly be looking into one as soon as I move (don’t want to have to move it twice ha).
Cant wait for your post about the bed… it turned out great!! I also love your bedding… light and pretty for spring!
Taralynn McNitt says
lol no…moving stinks!
Thanks for all the compliments!
arielle says
Sleep is super important to me but it is hard to come by with my insomnia. I always wonder if my mattress is aiding to the issue because its SUPER old (like my parents first mattress kind of old). Im trying to hold off on buying a new mattress until I move out in the next year or two and those foam mattresses really freak me out for some reason. i feel like I could ever get used to the feeling of the foam compressing and expanding when i move around in it like those memory foam pillows. Or maybe they’ve changed since I tried that dreaded pillow!
Taralynn McNitt says
Definitely important!
You definitely don’t feel it doing that lol It’s still pretty firm. You can’t feel anyone next to you either!
Jennifer says
I love how you change your bedding as the seasons change. It’s so cute how Grumples matches one of your pillows 🙂 He fits right in!
Also, now I’m really curious– how tough was it to transport that full bed frame from your parents’ garage to your place? It’s a beautiful bed but it looks really awkward to carry! Did you guys have to take it apart and then reassemble it? The end result looks amazing, BTW!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks Jennifer! We made it in pieces so we could load it up and transfer it 🙂
Ashley says
Where is the bedding and pillows from?! I love the rustic look.
Taralynn McNitt says
Ikea & homegoods!

I try to get 8 hours every night, but it usually ends up being more like 6! One of my goals is to get more sleep. I work with little kids all day, so sleep is the most important thing in my life lol! I love the memory foam mattress we have now. I didn’t want to spend the money, but the hubs insisted, and I have never regretted it!
Taralynn McNitt says
The foam mattresses are great!:)

Hey lady – are you still loving this mattress months later? No dip in it where you sleep or anything? Curious, on the cusp of buying but looking for an update 🙂 Thanks!
Taralynn McNitt says
YES YES YES! LOVE IT SO MUCH. It is as firm and soft as ever.
Ashley says
So just curious, now that it’s been awhile, are you still using the mattress? Thoughts?
