I know eating out a lot is bad, but when you’re in Maine, you can’t get enough. Sometimes it’s not the food that draws you in; it’s the atmosphere and quaint looking restaurants that you want to be apart of. Cafe Amore was one of those spots that pulled you in as you passed.
It was a bit of a wait, so we grabbed a cup of coffee and sat out on their patio. We were surrounded by quaint bed and breakfasts that nestled in the back neighborhoods.
We finally sat down at a table. Phyllis and I were surrounded by some tired and hAngry men. We slept through Antman, so we were good to go!
Cafe Amore had a lot of options on their menu. You name it, they probably have it!
I decided to go with their special, the apple sausage vegetable omelet. It was one of the fluffiest omelets I had ever eaten. It was delicious too (after I scooped out all the mushrooms) If you do get a chance to go there, ask for their homemade strawberry almond jelly. I have been searching high and low for this stuff since eating there. I’m tempted to call them and ask them to mail me some and I’ll pay for it because it was that good! I never would have thought of putting almond paste in a jelly. Maybe I just live under a rock. Call me “Patrick.”
Around noon, we headed to the beach for a couple of hours. We didn’t want to spend all day there but wanted to see some friends.
I took a two-mile walk down the beach. It was THE PERFECT beach day.
I took a three-mile walk down the beach and walked all the way out on the Jetty. I wish I would have brought my camera because it was so beautiful. The Jetty is about a half a mile long and made up of giant rocks that lead out to the ocean.
I stopped at a little food truck for a little snack. The Blended Bliss!
I asked the girls working which one was their favorite, and they said the “tropical storm.” It came with pineapple, mango, and guava juice. They were right; it was tasty!
Frills was the place to go! It was a cute little restaurant with only outdoor seating. I love that the weather is tolerable in Maine so that you can sit outside all summer long. In the South, you start sweating if you’re outside for one minute.
Their crab cakes were delicious!
I went with my gut feeling and decided to try the grilled parmesan crusted scallops.
Thank goodness I did because THEY WERE INCREDIBLE! They were coated with a buttery garlic parmesan crusted layer and soaked in some kind of light soy sauce garlic butter. The scallops were actually giant, fresh, and cooked so well! Their red mashed potatoes and creamy spinach were also to die for! Our waitress also made our dining experience really fun. She was silly and loved to crack jokes with us.
I’m a wine person, so I stepped out of my box and tried a Cosmo.
This photo sums up the places in Ogunquit. They all look too good to be true!
The flowers are also scary perfect!
I was starting to think I was a real-life Stepford Wives set.
If I lived here, I’d probably walk this path every day. Morning & Night.
This is my favorite time of night. I love when the sun goes down, and everything turns to shadows in the distance.
My new happy place.
The Maine skies were incredible.
Sometimes baby seals lay out on the rocks here.
Along the path, there were all kinds of bed and breakfasts, restaurants, and shops!
This was a great spot to watch the boats.
We made it to Perkins Cove in Ogunquit to catch the trolly.
Ending the perfect day!

Ah I can’t believe you were in Maine! I would have loved to meet you. I’ve been a quiet reader for a long time, but I live in Wells and have lived in Maine my whole life. Its funny how when you live somewhere you can take it for granted and not realize how truly special it is. Your posts have been reminding me how lucky I am to live here. You’ve also been giving me a bunch of new places to try, which is funny since I live like 10 mins from these places and have never been!

You are so lucky to live in Maine! I’M SO JEALOUS! How are the winters there? Let me know what you think of restaurants! 🙂
Kati says
Oh the winters are awful!! I hate cold and it gets pretty cold and VERY snowy. But you should definitely come back in the Fall. It’s definitely my most favorite (& most beautiful) time of year!

I’ve heard that it’s gorgeous in the fall!!! (writing on bucket list) Is it pretty thought with the snow on the rocks? or is it just all white!? You’ll have to email me pics!

I LOVE Maine! I actually just got back from there. The next time you go, you should go mid-coast and check out Camden. It is absolutely breathtaking. My family lives in Maine, so we go fairly often. What a wonderful and magical place!
Taralynn McNitt says
I will put that on the list!! 🙂
