This is the season for smoothies, shakes, ice cream, and everything COLD! I’m a smoothie monster in the summer. I’ll eat them for breakfast, snacks, lunch, and dessert. Sorry but dinner has to be savory and I am NOT eating a savory smoothie. This morning, I whipped up a chocolate coconut almond protein shake with some awesome products from Alter Eco & Bare Snacks in honor of celiac awareness Month!
If you’re looking for a sweet treat that taste almost too good to believe it’s healthy…you’re on the right page!
Smoothie Ingredients:
*1 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1 packet stevia, 2 tablespoons shredded and dried chocolate coconut, 1 block salted caramel 70% dark chocolate, 1 cup ice, 1 tablespoon of chocolate protein powder.
Blend! & top with the coconut chips!
This shake tasted a lot like ice cream and if I would have put it in the freezer for a couple of hours could have been ice cream. It was perfect for a post workout treat after a run in the heat. The coconut chips are freakin’ addicting & the chocolate was awesome! I’m going to have to get some more to put in the house for after dinner dessert!

Yumm! I’ve been using coconut a lot more in my treats…love it!
Alena says
What type of protein powder do you use?!
Cassie says
I’d totally add more ice to make it like a frappuccino, and a frozen banana to make it like ice cream!

Coconut chips are incredibly addicting and naturally sweet, oh my goodness. 🙂

You add the whole block of chocolate to your shake? Or is it meant to be 1 square?
Taralynn McNitt says
Just one square. The chocolate has little squares you break them into 🙂

I have been trying to do some research on protein powders for my husband and I. We have been drinking “green” smoothies in the mornings, but they aren’t as filling as I would like and I had thought about adding some protein powder to them. Any thoughts/suggestions? I have never used a protein powder before in my life and I would like to get one that we both can use…and I don’t want the texture to be funky…ideas please! Thanks!!

This looks SO indulgent, but I think it would be perfect after an evening workout when I might be craving some sweets. Pinning for later 🙂

Thanks Zully (LOVE THAT NAME) & Thanks for the amazing tip in my email! xo
