It’s Sunday, which means it’s time for a weekend update post. I’m usually writing this from the boys couch but I wanted to skip football this Sunday and get some things done around my place. My laundry basket is overflowing, the dishwasher needed unloaded and I was in a serious need for groceries.
I did manage to stop at the grocery store this morning to pick up some things so I could make a “breakfast for lunch.” As I’m writing this post, I’m eating a whole grain english muffin and scrambled eggs with bacon, garlic, pepper, light cream, and mozzarella cheese. Eggs have never tasted better since learning how to flavor them properly. I’ll probably have the same thing for dinner tonight too.
I should probably start with Friday night. It was my friend’s mom’s birthday and so we went to their family’s favorite restaurant, Portofino’s. I ordered the Chef salad and the soup of the day. The soup of the day was my personal favorite, minestrone. The chef salad came with Italian meat, mozzarella, cucumber, onion, roasted red peppers, mixed greens, carrots, and their house dressing. Their house dressing is a tomato basil ranch type mixture! We ordered some cannolis to go for later. They also brought out birthday gelato and we had to guess the flavors. We got 2 out of 3 right. It was pistachio, cherry cinnamon, and chocolate. We couldn’t figure out the cherry cinnamon at all. It tasted more like peppermint.
I was so tired on Friday night. I expected to fall asleep by 9 pm but I started watching The Following. I’ve never been able to stay awake during any show or movie at night. This show wouldn’t let me go to bed. I just kept clicking next episode. This show makes me so mad because you never know whom to trust. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen, everything changes. I forced myself to fall asleep around five am because I knew I’d be grouchy in the morning if I didn’t get any sleep. I’m having a hard time writing this blog post because I am still watching The Following and it’s putting me on an emotional roller coaster. I have Sunday football on mute in the background.
Yesterday, we sat around watching the Hornets kill the NY Knicks. I was so tired I could hardly keep my eyes open and I think I kept the pups up last night too. Grumples is into the show as well.
I always feel bad for making the dogs lay around too long, so we took Haley, Marley, Luke, and Grumples to the baseball fields to run. They all got muddy and soaked but it was worth it for them.
That face meant success at the fields!
We at the Peach Stand in Fort Mill to grab steaks and a marinade for dinner. Of course, I picked out my favorite marinade, bourbon!
The steak was cooked perfectly and marinated perfectly. He poured the sweet bourbon marinade on top, marinated it for four hours in the fridge and marinated it for an hour at room temperature. He cooked the steak medium rare and then poured the cooked marinade juices on top.
He made a fresh homemade salad for the side. It was mixed greens, broccoli, feta, and a homemade dressing. (olive oil & seasonings)
We watched the Ravens & Patriots play and then we watched the Patriots and Seahawks play. No amount of coffee could keep me awake and I fell asleep at eleven.
We had banana egg pancakes this morning before church. She did a fantastic job! They turned out perfectly and she added blueberries. I was surprised because even Ralph liked them!
Tonight, I’ll be watching the Golden Globe awards. This is like Super Bowl season for theater junkies! Who else will be watching?

I have to tell you, I cannot stop thinking about steak now! So shame on you 😉
My favorite way to have steak is to grill it in honey barbecue sauce. Most people won’t try it because it sounds strange, but it is seriously delicious.
What is that show about? I’ve heard of it, but know nothing about it.

Cliffhanger endings. I ove them but hate them so much!

I’ll be watching! Award show season is the best season. Though I admittedly like the music awards a bit more just because I love music but hey I’ll take what I can get. 🙂 Your breakfast looks and sounds amazing! Breakfast for lunch is the best type of lunch, breakfast for any meal!
