A couple of nights ago, Nick and I had plans to go out to dinner. I just wanted to have a relaxing night at home and watch movies. Sometimes being on the go all the time can be exhausting, and lately it’s been that way. He didn’t mind at all, and so I stopped off at the grocery store and picked up some quick items to make dinner.
I grabbed a bottle of Riesling to enjoy while cooking.
I bought several sweet potatoes and cooked those up with this recipe!
I cut the potatoes a little chunkier, cooked them on a higher temp, and for a longer time.
And lets be honest, I bought the rotisserie chicken.
When I was in France, I fell in love with Brie and butter on baguettes. I bought a couple of baguettes at the store and some French Brie.
I slice the baguette in half. I spread the butter on one side and on the other, I spread Brie. I sprinkled garlic powder over the butter side, and assembled the baguette back together. I placed the baguette in the oven to crisp and melt the Brie and butter. The combinations were incredible! You have to try this sometime for dinner.
For dessert we had coffee, Sicilian pistachio gelato, and frozen dark chocolate caramel wedge.
This dinner only took thirty minutes to throw together! I’m sure Rachel Ray would have made her own chicken, but It’s pretty darn close!

Everything looks delicious. I have seen that brand of ice cream at the store, but I wasn’t sure if I should buy it or not.

Congrats on your new relationship with a guy who still lives at his parents’ house. You really know how to pick ’em, don’t you? You are SUCH a good role model. (:

lol Nick doesn’t live at his parents house. It’s called being family oriented and spending time with the ones that matter. You should sharpen up those stalking skills because they’re sucking hard right now.

Even if he did live at his parent’s house…who cares? Last time I checked, a person’s character wasn’t based off their place of residency. Jealously is the best form of flattery, Taralynn. Block out all the negativity–you are an inspiring role model. Happy holidays to your family and that lucky guy in your life!

Looks delish! I’m obsessed with that gelato, isn’t it the best?

I had brie once and it totally blew it for me. I hated it!

It could have been the rind, some taste better than others. If the rind on my Brie tastes “moldy” I just cut it off; the cheese inside is creamy wonderfulness.

Your dinner looks delicious. The bread sounds amazing!! I have to admit, I’ve never tried Brie before and since I’m from Wisconsin that should come as a surprise! I’ll definitely be trying it out in the near future, it looks amazing!

You can NEVER go wrong with any flavor of Talenti! Tara, if you haven’t had the salted caramel, I STRONGLY suggest you run, skip, sprint (whatever gets you to the store faster) and go get some. It’s heaven in your mouth! And I love this cute dinner you put together for you and Nick. Nothing is better than a date night at home ^_^ you guys are cute!!!!

The butter, brie and bread sounds fantastic!
And the bottles you painted look very cute on your table. Nice, simple center-pieces!
Evenings in are great. We all need some rest sometimes!
