I can’t believe it’s 69 degrees in August in the south! These past couple of days have been super chilly but it’s forced me to stay inside and put the place together. It’s slowly coming along, but I have a lot to get done. I still need to decorate more. Before getting my work done, I had an afternoon snack: Pretzels, chocolate cherry yogurt, almonds, and coffee. I made a trip to the farmers market this weekend and stocked up the fruit bowl. Not only does fruit taste great, it’s the best kind of decor.
My friend, Emilee, finally made it down here! Her and Enzo are my new roomies:) It’s like a mini grumples!
I love these dogs!
My room has so much work left. I need to make a headboard for the bed, get paintings for the walls, possible paint, get matching lamps for each of the end tables, refinish the end tables, and get a reading chair.
Having my own place and not worrying about where I’ll be going next has taken a huge weight off my shoulders. I feel so calm and at ease now.
Before I forget, my duvet covers are from Ikea.
I’m in the process of painting some canvases for one side of the bedroom. I’m going to either add a city to this, or a black tree. What do you think?
Grumples loves to drag every single toy out instead of keeping them in the basket. It’s our little game. He’s already done it twice this afternoon.
Some of you were asking about my bookends. I got them at Homegoods (of course) Remember the wine & painting class I did in Arizona? I put up the paintings!
This one was just for fun because I love elephants. I took the original drawing and blew it up for my wall…and something else exciting with it 😉 You’ll find out soon!
My parents gave me their mirror from Italy years ago and I’ve been so sad that it’s been in the storage unit. I’m glad we’ve reunited! I love the gold, too. If you can’t tell, I’m a gold person.
I also have all of my cozy throw blankets for the movie marathons. If you have any headboard ideas, let me know! I’m torn on what to do.
I made an overnight pulled bourbon chicken in my new crockpot thanks to Windsorstore and can’t wait to share that recipe with you. You’ll LOVE it! So stay tuned for that!

I love how well you’re adjusting to the new life…so happy for you! Two of my dogs (Bijou and Snowy) look just like Enzo. In fact, we saw a dog that looked like Mr Grumples the other day and my boyfriend commented on how it was “Bijou’s uncle” because he was bigger 😉
A city scene would look so neat as artwork!
You could make a barndoor into a headboard! Or even get old window panes, remove the glass, and use it as a headboard 🙂

Your apartment seems to be coming along nicely! It’s so fun to decorate, even though it’s a lot of work, it’s worth it in the end. Your canvas painting looks great so far – I think you should add a city to it 🙂

Do you follow certain tv shows, like orange is the new black?

A White Sox shirt AND a doodle? I feel like we are the same person! 😉

I hope that elephant makes it’s way onto a Live Ashore tank. 🙂

You could paint or stain a wooden pallet for a headboard or I’ve seen people do old doors or old windows and putting pictures in the windows.

What would you call your style? I really love it but cannot seem to come up with my own style of decor for my apartment.

Your apartment is looking so cute! Good job!

Apartment decorating is so much fun – definitely the best part of moving. I really like the color scheme of your bedroom. A woven headboard would like nice. That elephant drawing is awesome, and the pulled bourbon chicken looks delicious!

My dog does the exact same thing! I’d find it annoying if it wasn’t adorable. For the headboard, get a piece of wood and glue on different color tiles (blue, grey, gold perhaps?). You can also make designs using the different colors. It’s a lot of gluing, but it turns out beautiful and is custom-made yet inexpensive!

Your apartment looks great! I have some projects I want to do as well. I’ll hope I’ll get around to them soon!
Where did you get that purple coffee mug? I LOVE it!

Hey, girl!
I’ve noticed you used Bourbon Chicken before, but what sauce or seasoning do you use to make it?
I’m so busy that I love to throw chicken on low in the crockpot with salsa or orange ginger sauce and have something delicious to eat what I come home!
Thanks 🙂

I love your room – it’s super cute! You have a real talent for interior design (& your art is awesome!)
Oh & the dogs are too cute — that’s the kind I want.
^^ I agree with a comment above. You should put the elephant on your Liveashore tanks, or a tshirt would be nice since it’s almost fall! I have two and they’re so cute & comfy.
Thanks!

You bed is so beautiful! You have inspired me a lot but my bed is different, it’s a .. I don’t know how to say this in english but in spanish it’s a “plaza y media” type, yours will be a “dos plazas”. I’ll see what I can do 😉

AH! I hope you are selling the elephant design in some shape or form 😀 and as for the finishing on the painting you have, I like the city idea! I’m so jealous of your drawing and painting skills!

I bought old shutters off of craigslist, put them together, added crown molding on the top and made myself a headboard! I LOVE it!
It is so rustic-chic looking and was very cheap. That is a win-win in my book.

How long will that much fruit last you? I am always curious about how much people eat in a day/week.
Thanks!
Taralynn McNitt says
Probably a couple of weeks! I eat it up fast. Smoothies, yogurt toppings, and for snacks.

Oh my goodness I love little Enzo he reminds me of my Winrey (mini poodle twins!) Good luck on your headboard I’ve been looking at inspiration for one myself, I’m digging the tufted fabric ones!
Taralynn McNitt says
I love those too! I just don’t think I’m crafty enough to do it!
