After reading Hannah’s blogpost on Young In Charlotte about Mac’s Speed Shop, I have been itching to go, and tonight I finally went. I have been in the mood for bbq all week and it was right down the street from my friend’s. I ordered the bbq pulled pork plate with the baja salad and mac and cheese as my sides.
The bbq pork was cooked perfectly, the mac and cheese was pretty good, and the salad was perfectly fresh. I also tried my first olive! It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. It’s hard to believe that I’m 23 years old and have never eaten an olive until today. The place has a fun atmosphere, too. You can eat outside, inside, watch sports, play games, and sit at the bar.

I’m generally not a fan of olives. You weren’t missing out on much, i can tell you that.

Olive tip: try kalamata and nicoise olives. I can’t stand black olives, but I tried kalamatas and nicoise (the little green French ones) at Whole Foods olive bar, and oh my gosh. They are delicious! And something about them, with some spicy pickle and maybe a little cheese, makes you feel incredibly satisfied when you’ve eaten just a bit. All the different flavors and textures, I guess. So good!
