I couldn’t have asked for a better Sunday or a better weekend. The weekend was non stop, go go go with the girls, and overall a blast. Yesterday morning, Paulina and I got dressed in our sundresses and went to Mass at St. Patricks Cathedral in Charlotte. (photo source) I haven’t been to mass in a while and I’m glad I found someone who will go with me.
Don’t worry, I didn’t wear this outfit to church. I brought an extra pair of clothes and changed into them in the parking garage.
After church, we drove to the Epicenter in Uptown to have lunch. We wanted to eat outside, so we had lunch at the Mortimer’s Cafe & Pub. I loved the atmosphere in the little alley and it felt like we were in a different country. Maybe it was the flags..
You know us Catholics love our drinks after mass 😉 I’m just kidding, it was in honor the for world cup!
And this was my date for the day, Paulina.
We were the only ones eating in the Alley, the Saturday party scene must have gone way too hard.
For lunch, I ordered the Landens Grilled Chicken Gryo.
It came with grilled chicken, red onion, diced tomato, cucumber, finely shredded lettuce, and tzatziki sauce. It also came with a side of hummus and pita pieces.
I couldn’t get over how thin the shredded lettuce was. I need to figure out how to do this for my burgers!
Everything was really tasty! It inspired me to try to make my own homemade pitas. Maybe, I’ll do that today!
Paulina ordered the Turkey Jerk Hawaiian salad. It cmd with lettuce, cheese, jerk turkey, pita croutons, roasted peppers, pineapple and a side sesame ginger.
After lunch, we took a stroll around Charlotte.
Charlotte is such a clean city. You can tell they put a lot of pride, money, and work into it. I’ve been to a lot of cities and this is by far the most well kept.
After our little stroll, we headed over to the Heroes Convention! How cute were these little kids? It was the perfect picture and I couldn’t help but snap it!
The convention was at the convention center in Uptown.
This was Paulina’s third time attending, so I was excited to see what it was all about.
The convention was a lot bigger than I expected! This is only a 1/4 of it.
Heroes!
I loved all of the creative costumes! Some people are so talented…it’s nuts.
They had a costume competition that we watched for a couple of hours.
Snow White and Paulina.
Michael obviously wanted to be there too…(stick to youtube, kid)
After spending the day at the convention, we headed back home to walk the dogs and make food our girl’s dinner!
All of the hero’s made me feel pretty bad ass 😉
Who is your favorite animated character?

Sarah says
What brand is your handbag? If you don’t mind me asking!
shannon says
I remember once you grandma meet or saw the Pope right? or am I imagining things? The Cathedral looks so pretty, here your cut offs and shirt would have been fine for our Catholic mass even on a Sunday.
Glad you have someone who will go to mass with you! The convention looks fun.
Taralynn McNitt says
My grandma went to see the pope, yes!:) Not your imagination. I know the shirt would have been fine, but I don’t think jean shorts are very church appropriate. 😉
Thanks for stopping by and commenting Shannon! Hope to see you back soon!

I agree but so many do, we even had one guy that had run there, he was sweaty and stinky and guess who had to sit next to him, 🙁
Been a long time reader, LOVED yesterday’s post you laid it all out and I know that took a lot of courage. I lost a friend to anorexia so I’m so happy that you did that post. Your post will save girls, women and even boys that are going through the exact thing.

There is something I need to say… Since you moved to Charlotte 2 or 3 month ago, your blog posts have become so much better. I already loved your website before but since then, it seems to me that you post more often and longer texts, more pictures and it sounds more interesting (maybe because you write more about activities) or fun. Thanks for your good work! 🙂
And it seems that you are so much happier than you used to be in Detroit 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you, Judi! I have been having a blast here in Charlotte and I truthfully love it.

Hi Taralynn! I’m not usually one to comment, but I have been following your tumbler/site for a couple years now. I have really enjoyed your recent posts! You genuinely look like you are enjoying your journey in this new chapter of your life! It shows (not only in your photos) but the content of your posts as well. Keep doing you girl – I feel like many of us go through what I call a “quarter life crisis” where work, relationships (Friends, family, love), and health/fitness can seem to be all over the place and we are not really sure where our journey is headed. I appreciate your vulnerability and honesty to share your challenges and success along the way. Thank you for the motivation and content you have been providing on a daily basis, excited to see what this new chapter has in store for you!

Awwwww thank you!! & I’m LOVIN’ your city.
I use several cameras, but when I’m out and about, I don’t like to carry around a huge honker so I use my Olympus/tough TG-2 IHS 12.0 MegaPixel.

Hey taralynn! Can I get the info on who helped you design your blog? I’m just starting one- and it’s a little frustrating figuring it all out when I know nothing hahah

I work at an out patient eating disorder clinic in Wilmington and I think it is so great that you have been speaking out about your journey to health. It is important to recognize the struggle of eating disorders and also to celebrate the triumphs of recovery!
I am also from Charlotte and I love seeing your posts from home! I grew up going to St Matthews which is close to the Ballantyne area, I think you may be near there based on some of your pics at times! Glad that you are having fun exploring and enjoying time with your girls. 🙂
Tina says
That gyro looks phenomenal and I’ve been craving one so bad but there is no where near me that I can think that would have some!

Hey Taralynn,
I just saw your blog a couple of weeks ago and I went on today, and I used to live in Charlotte, NC like three years ago. Because of your blog, I am more encouraged to move back. I hope you are loving the city as much I do. It would be awesome to meet you, cause you encourage me to be more health friendly to myself. Thank you for your blog and photos
