Good Morning!
As you already know, I’m a huge fan of breakfast. If I don’t eat breakfast, I’m cranky, hungry, and sleepy all day long. I don’t know how some people skip it. It’s the best meal of the day.
This is my breakfast from yesterday. I had two whole grain organic waffles, a banana, and an egg scramble with turkey sausage.
What are you having for breakfast this morning?
Alisha says
I’m having a shakeology chocolate shake with strawberries and a waffle with peanut butter 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
That sounds delicious!
Kristen says
How come you don’t post longer recipes/posts anymore? It kind of seems like this is just your Instagram now…
Taralynn McNitt says
Sorry you feel that way. I try my hardest to post recipes. I’m currently away from all of my belongings and it makes it hard to post recipes that require kitchen utensils. I have recently posted long recipes, maybe you missed them.

Definetly should be taken as a compliment though that ppl can’t get enough of you!! most websites would kill for that attention span from their audience. you’re so lucky you can work from home. we’re all.. simply addicted 😉

I agree with Kristen!

That breakfast looks sooo good! I love breakfast too! Sometimes I will have it for lunch too. Today I had a protein pancake with green fruit smoothie but I have recently gotten into having 2 eggs, 1-2 turkey sausage patties with piece toast topped with PB & banana. Soo filling and delicious way to start your day! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Oh how I miss my blender! Love it down here, but can’t wait to get all my kitchen stuff back! I also miss my juicer!!
Melodie says
That all looks so good! I work at 5am so I’m up pretty early and I don’t have much time to make a decent breakfast. Is there anything fast and easy you suggest? Also, what do you usually flavor your coffee with?
Tiffany says
I had so Greek yogurt with grapes and pineapple with a side of pecans. They are my favorite!
Ksenija @ With An Open Mind says
Green smoothie & ooey gooey banana oats, since one doesn’t go without the other 🙂 I wouldn’t say no to your breakfast though. It looks delightful!
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun says
This looks delicious! I was in a rush this morning to get to work so I had Greek yogurt with fruit. It was good, but didn’t look as great as this!
Sarah says
This looks delicious. I’ve been doing little hummus, cheese and avocado sandwiches for breakfast. So good.

I think you would really like this…this morning I cut up a sweet potato threw it in a pan with coconut oil and fried it a little then I put it in the oven and broiled it for a few minutes. I also made two eggs sunny side up and ate them with the sweet potato it was so good and very filling!
Danielle Wooding @ New England Daughter says
I also looove breakfast. It is the best meal, but I don’t have a proper breakfast often enough during the work week. This morning thankfully I’ve had fruit.
Brittany says
Old-fashioned oats mixed with cottage cheese, blackberries, cinnamon and a touch of stevia! It sounds gross, but I promise you it’s absolutely delish!!
Jessica says
I made a protein shake – strawberries, mango, pineapple, peaches, a little orange juice, a scoop of greek yogurt & vanilla protein powder 🙂

Hi! I absolutely love reading your posts. You are so inspiring! I am 23 and have 100 pounds to lose. Any tips? I have a hard time finding a breakfast I like and I always start trying to eat healthier and then end up back were I started. Any tips would be great! 🙂
Jenna says
I had the same thing I have for breakfast every morning *sigh* dorm life ya know? Anyways, I made oatmeal with lemon juice and honey then had my apple cider vinegar detox drink with it.

Breakfast is an essential for me! If i don’t eat breakfast I am a hangry girl~~

I like that you do simple little meal posts like this! It helps me get ideas what to eat to change up my breakfast.

Taralynn, I do enjoy recipe posts but I love posts like these!!! It is fun to see your everyday life. 🙂

2 boiled eggs is my morning go to 🙂 I just boil up a lot of eggs for the whole week and that way I can just grab them and be out the door quickly! Love this blog, keeps me motivated!

My whole life I had been a “lunch girl” but ever since I started my healthy lifestyle 13 months ago, I love breakfast and now I can’t go without it! There’s nothing better than a bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon and almonds! I also love making a berry banana smoothie (so filling!), fluffy scrambled eggs and all kinds of fruit.
Oh and btw, I love your blog! I’ve been following you for several months now and I love your recipes and reading about your life. I get so inspired by how you seem to find the right balance in everything you do. And I’m absolutely in love with Grumples. I’ve wanted a dog for as long as I can think and if I can ever afford one she’ll be just as fluffy as Grumples 😉
Casey says
How do you eat so much and not gain weight? I can’t do it 🙁
Becca says
Casey, I don’t think she eats alot. Remember she runs/walks about five miles daily, does strength training several times a week, and is busy walking her dog or doing activities with her boyfriend when she isn’t replying to us. She has also retrained her body to feel empowered by food, by teaching it to use food as fuel through her activities. Instead of undereating or overeating, she uses her appetite to regulate her intake. Notice she said, “If I don’t eat breakfast, I’m cranky, hungry, and sleepy all day long. I don’t know how some people skip it. It’s the best meal of the day.” Chances are, after she has her wake up coffee, within a half an hour to an hour, she is ravenous. Don’t beat yourself up.
In my experience, limiting yourself or ignoring your hunger cues will make you tired and sleepy. You won’t be awake long enough to workout. And your metabolism will slow down to adjust to the absence of food. It makes sense. If your boyfriend/girlfriend was showering you with abundance of love and affection, you would probably respond by turning up the heat and being very into them. However, if they were cold and limiting their affection and attention, you would probably turn down the heat and invest less energy into the relationship. Makes sense, doesn’t it.
People are so used to only biting off what they feel they deserve or is their ‘fair share’, even when the Universe may be offering them more. Why? Perhaps an inner sense of fairness, or more likely fear of disappointment. Don’t be afraid to eat. Just let practical nutritional guidelines like low-moderate fat, adequate carbohydrates, and sufficient protein from a variety of micronutrient (vitamin and minerals) rich sources.
Remember, it took Tara 1 year to transform herself physically. But she had been preparing for that transformation by doing research and making preparations. Exercise is key. As is adjusted intake. Check with your doctor, nutritionist, parents, family, friends, or someone knowledgeable if you don’t feel you could research what is the best plan for you.
Generally though, unless you have medical conditions, known or unknown, I have learned from reading nutritional guidelines that eating a minimum of 1200 calories which represents a 500 calories less than needed to sustain activities without gaining or losing, divided up into three to five meals, will support even the smallest woman’s basal metabolism and exercising(cardio, strength, and core) in blocks of 60 minutes a day. Drinking 8 cups of water and getting fresh air, 8-10 hours sleep, and keeping stress low is also great to do. fitnessblender.com is a really cool exercising video website and sparkpeople.com is a great website for tracking your food.
Hope this helps a bit.

My breakfast today was overnight oats made with oats, almond milk, kefir, and banana. This morning I threw in some blueberries and peanut butter and cottage cheese! Perfect 🙂

This looks yummy! Pre-made waffles are my favorite!

I try to eat breakfast whenever I remember to eat. I love the taste of food. I just have a low appetite. Lots of oats with cinnamon, allspice, and organic sugar are really good. Baked sweet potatoes are great by themselves. Fruit is a good breakfast if a burst of energy is what is needed. However, if energy doled out a little at a time is what is required, generally yes, complex is the way to go. I have found combining fruit and grains to be irritating to the digestion.
Anyway, totally off topic, but have you checked out fitness blender.com or the caught the videos on youtube. They are great! My favorite is the 100 Rep workout. It is super simple and divided into 25 reps at a time. All of the videos are great! If you haven’t already, you could check it out.

I’m carbo loading for a race: a whole cup of oats cooked in water with chia seeds, banana, and a couple strawberries. Coffee with almond milk, of course!

I think it’s great that you post eating ideas that don’t require so much kitchen equipment. I am living in a Hostel at the moment so I don’t have any fancy stuff (Or even the not-fancy stuff). Maybe you can post some more tips to survive this.
p.s. I love your blog 🙂
